Starting off GREAT~!

I don't know what it is with South Korean cinema, but they hit the nail on the head almost every time. Starting off with a traumatic experience (death), then being transported to another time? They bring a common Japanese animation trope into South Korean dramas and it just works.

Has Potential, A Bit Awkward

I've heard so many great things about this drama so I decided to give it a watch. The first episodes writing felt a bit off and awkward, as well as the production of the time travel scene. Albeit this is an older drama so I will give it a little bit of grace.

Good introduction

I hesitated for almost 4 years to rewatch this drama because it broke me to the point in which I felt physical pain, my heart died with this, okay? But finally I gave it a chance. I really didn't remember a lot about this and I didn't remember how much I missed So and Soo. My next reviews will be me ignoring the fact I already watch this bc I want to pretend it's the first time to see if it hurts any less :D Episode 11 come to me!

Five Stars

Very good start , whithout missing anything :

-shirtless,hot men from the beginning (the way they introduced the princes WOW I didn't even knew whom to look first)
- funny scenes (espesially when he said '' you are big in other areas'' lol I was thinking we need proves)
- perfect 1st lead actror and actress
- amazing scenery
Also the way that 8th prince and Hae Soo was looking to each other made my heart flutter.

So, we all have our own perception about this drama right? Here's mine.

I was desperate for a Korean drama. I haven't watched one for a long time already, and the school works are bothering my tiny brain, so I searched: "Korean dramas for 2016", and there, I found an annoying, yet an adorable woman who was sharing the new Korean dramas. From five to one.

I wasn't going to wait anymore because she also had to describe the other movies, and my patience was running out of time. So I didn't bother on watching it, I opened another YouTube website and listened for the titles she was talking about. Then, I watched the trailers. With ENGLISH SUBTITLES of course!

Until I heard the name IU.

I paused the fourht trailer I watched, went back to the other tab, and dragged that circle back, and found that her number one was Scarlet Heart Ryeo, and IU was the main role! My favorite actress? Damn straight! I quickly dismissed the other dramas, and watched it. And boy, I fell in love with it.

THIS IS LIKE FREAKING WATTPAD FOR REAL!

i fell in love with the casts! I fell in love with the plot, and how they made the transition. The effects were amazing! I fell in love with each princes, and of course we all have our biases, mine was the one who wanted to kill the crown prince. Spoiler! Hahaha. But of course I love a mystery man, so I also have dibs on the fourth prince.

Over all, I would give this movie a 10 out of 10. It did not only stole my eyes, but my heart as well. I hope, the other episodes would be uploaded with ENGLISH SUBTITLES! I can't understand korean, or chinese. I'm a filipino for crying out loud! Hahaha! But I can wait.

Congratulations team! You've done great work! Love you IU! -Abigale

Yeah, I'm kind of regretting that I didn't wait for all three episodes to be out

Yeah, I'm kind of regretting that I didn't wait for all three episodes to be out. Because this is all kinds of awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and I'm on team 4th prince. Part of it might be all the team stuff I've been seeing floating around, but Wang So is just bad@$$. He's got this Zorro-Phantom-of-the-Opera-bad-boy-prince-outcast-hotty-long-hair-of-glory-sexy-mask-hot-smirk vibe going on. I'm clearly already entranced.

Now that that's over with I have to give the writers mad props. I thought this would be really messy and that's why they wanted to release 3 episodes ASAP. Because they were gonna do an information dump. That is not the case. Episode one was so cohesive and gradually gave is information. What a perfect setup.

I'm blown away by this first episode. (Not to mention the man candy. *_* 14th prince. ;_; Ji Soo, I love you!)

This is my second drama with IU since Dream High. So I haven't seen her progression as an actress. Here I think she did a pretty awesome job! What a huge leap from Dream High (for me). Of course she's still as cute as ever.

Visually it's stunning. The scenery is gorgeous and I couldn't tell when there was CGI or not. Well done! Not to mention that the costumes are lovely. The modern tone of the music through me off at first, but as the episode progressed it grew on me more and more. Especially as some of the classical sounds mixed in. The 4th prince's bad boy music was a campy, but it fit.

There is a lot of information and things happening, despite the stellar job by the writers, so I would suggest giving this episode your full attention. This really did surpass all my expectations, and doused some of my fears. I truly believe that the writer and director are going to genuinely give their all for this remake. Yippee! Really looking forward to getting to know the characters.
