Hallucinations and nightmares torment up-and-coming young author Min Woo. He cannot concentrate on his new work, the much-anticipated follow-up to his first successful novel, nor can he lead a normal life. Old photos and images he does not recognize - though they are somehow familiar - materialize from the darkness as if developed in a dark room. Haunted by these specters of memories he can't remember, he drags himself through days of confusion and alienation. Mimi, a beautiful young woman, follows him around like one completely lost in love. As Mimi intones the notes of "Mist" (popular song from the 1960s) for him, long-ago recollections sparkle in the darkness of his mind as if illuminated by flashbulbs. Flickering memories of his first love claim his concentration, calling for him to remember. Edit Translation

I'm fascinated in Kang Dong Won performance in every movie I came across to see. Although not all his movies have outstanding plot unfortunately.

This movie shows that time spent with person who we loved is most precious and even because of time passing by and those memories will eventually fade away that person will haunt us in our dreams. How can we tell the difference between reality and the dream when the dream is a place with our beloved person. I think this movie tells us that...

M is a film which some people will love and some will hate. It's really complex to describe. I must admit that on the visual site this move is just great, all the twist in the plot and all strange conversation gave me goosebumps. I was so curious how this story would end. I was pleased with the ending, it was good, it explained all the crazy stuff that were going on in the movie. Actually it was a little sad and beautiful in the same time. Music was good, but not so memorable to recommend, although all the background sounds that were in the movie, were perfect fit for the story and it gave it soul.

If you like Kang Dong Won as I do, this movie is a must see, but if you don't it will bored you and annoy you. Re-watch value in this kind of movie I think none.

So actually, I am a big fan of Kang Dong Won ever since he did Temptation of Wolves.. I've been a rampage over him and cried like crazy over most of his movies. One day, I was browsing on his movie list and came upon this movie. M? What is that.. I don't really remember what it meant in the movie nor really remember anything about it that much. I watched this movie quite a long time ago, just decided to do a review now just because I read tiitek's review for the movie. Well that's the background of my love for kang dong won, history of why I started the movie, and also why I am doing this review. Here we go:

Story: 8/10
Though I have forgotten some part of movie, I remember clearly the atmosphere and the mood of the movie. It was an amazing experience. The confusion and suspense, everything making you wondering what the heck is going on.. It was like we were in the main character's point of view and I think that whatever the director was trying to do worked for me but not for some others. As the story goes on, we get a glimpse of the main character's past and how he starts remembering some of the people of the past.. and that certain person keeps on clashing into his future self. We get some moments in the past and it is just the most innocent and cute thing that you actually feel that you are watching a different movie.

Acting: 7/10
They did quite a great job on this, I thought.. Especially Kang Dong Won, he looked quite old in this movie and was spectacular. Though it felt that the girl(s) roles in here weren't as important in here though. Gong Hyo Jin's role in here was pretty useless, I thought. It would have made no difference if she wasn't here. Also, Lim Yeon Hee, did an okay job on being a "first love".

Music:7/10
The music in here was alright, wasn't the greatest nor the worst. It came perfect timing on creating the atmosphere.

Rewatch Value: 2/10
This is a movie that you watch once and wouldn't watch it again. Not because it's that terrible, but that I personally "feel" that it's a one watch time thing.

Overall: 7/10

Seeya.
