Awesome

I love movies like this. If you want a bad ass female lead who can handle the situation with a little bit of blood and grace you'rein the right place. I definitely didn't want it to end. There's just enough romance to make you pissed you can't get more. Acting was spot on, music went great with the theme of the movie and I was pretty impressed with the plot and revenge . The ending was satisfying. Unfortunately the only part I disagree and was a bit confused about at times, was the back and forth. Sometimes you couldn't tell if it was past, present or another person all together. Getting past that makes the movie very watchable. Won't rewatch it just cause a certain part put me in my feels but to each their own...

Story

The Villainess is a 2017 South Korean action thriller that throws you headfirst into the whirlwind life of Sook-hee, a woman molded into a deadly assassin since childhood. The film is a relentless barrage of stylish action sequences, punctuated by moments of emotional vulnerability and a narrative shrouded in mystery.

Here's a breakdown of the film's key aspects:

Action: Buckle up for balletic violence. The fight scenes are meticulously choreographed, showcasing Sook-hee's lethal efficiency and raw power. Think John Wick with a dash of Kill Bill's balletic flair.

Story: The narrative unfolds through fragmented flashbacks, slowly piecing together Sook-hee's past and motivations. This non-linear approach keeps you guessing, but it can be challenging to follow at times.

Characters: Sook-hee is an intriguing protagonist, both captivating and disturbing. Her emotional core is hidden beneath layers of trauma and training, making her a complex and unpredictable character. The supporting cast, while not as fleshed out, serves the story well.

Visuals: The film boasts stunning cinematography, with striking imagery and dynamic camerawork that amplifies the action and reflects Sook-hee's internal turmoil.

Overall: The Villainess is a visceral and stylish action film that will leave you breathless. However, its fragmented narrative and lack of emotional depth might not resonate with everyone.

The storyline was ok but I had problems with it. I don't like children being killed off for one. I liked the 2nd husband because he was definitely in love with KOB's character. I hate that he was killed off for another. I loved KOB's martial art skills and love the way she handles knives and swords. I feel the action of this movie should have been made into a series instead of a movie. There was more to vision in this script it was too short. I didn't like the ending for sure where it looked like she just went insane. The screenwriters could've made her into a strong heroine!

Story lulled in the middle but it was necessary to build the character. Because of what they developed, she grew as a person and it was important to see that. Action scenes were outstanding and very original. I've never scene sequences like that anywhere else. The film was cinematically and visually appealing to the eye. I couldn't stop noticing the camera shots and the colors used. Acting was superb, especially the main actress who really shined. I enjoyed the action most but the ending had a little twist that made me appreciate the story too.

THE VILLAINESS has become quite popular among action buffs. Myself being one, I decided to watch this film and today, having watched it, I feel it's really an impactful film. Director Byung-gil Jung has not just relied on visuals and action but also on a decent storyline to make a good film. Even though the drama's a little overdone in many portions, the film's overall impact is quite a good one and can't be ignored.

Kim OK-bin is the soul of THE VILLAINESS. Her performance is mindblowing and highly impressive in certain sequences. Shin Ha-kyun is terrific, and he's impressive throughout the duration he's given. Rest of the cast is also decent and their performances prove an asset to the film.

The unfolding is what needs to be appreciated. The film's impact in the first few minutes is praiseworthy. The film however slows down in certain portions, but it's the action which hardly lets you down. It's extremely excellent, and a major reason why this film works big time. The visuals are excellent, as is the cinematography. Some of the thrills are really very impressive.

THE VILLAINESS is a solid action entertainer which works for the most part and impresses even an average action lover. It's really a top class action film with some of the best action sequences in a South Korean film, even though it doesn't come close to some classic South Korean action films like NO TEARS FOR THE DEAD.

MAN I WAS WRONG

O elenco é outro show à parte.
