Ikemen Desu Ne Episode 3 Reactions
the phone date is one of my favorite parts of the original and i must admit that i was a little dsiapointed that it was so short here. Despite not having enough screen time to fully realize the character, the actor does a good job of conveying Shu's thoughts and feelings for Mio with his looks and body language. he looked much better in his disguise than he previously did.
in the original much of the audience cheered for ShinWoo and you felt his pain, hoped against hope that he would get the girl and wanted to punch mi nam in the face b/c she kept picking that insufferable jerk! in this incarnation i feel Shu is the one intruding where is is not needed. when ever he looks at Ren and Mio together you dont get the feeling of "underdog" you get the feeling of "leave them alone!"
this shift for me is not better or worse in terms of story, but it is definately a good thing for the remake b/c, as i mentioned in the Ep 1. review it is these little differences that will keep fans of the franchise from feeling like they are watching "you're beautiful" dubbed in japanese and therefore tuning out.
