my mouth was open for several minutes i literally had to pause & pace around the living+eoom

i don’t care what the liberal bourgeoisie have to say STALKING PHONE DATE BROUHT THIS SHOW TO NEW HEIGHTS. was it corny when they revealed ren secretly donates to orphanages YES but was it truly romantic when they revealed shu was also PAYING FOR EVERYTHING & MAKING HER FEEL LUCKY ALL DAY YUUUP. & THEN WE’re GOING TO TEMPORARILY BLIND MIKO THIS ENTIRE EPISODE & HAVE HER RUN TO REN AT THE WORST POSSIBLE MOMENT WOWWW this episode won me over 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ i think they chose the right moment to actually enter nana into the competition because i thikn the hurdle of being an idol band+man is jumped. i am still extremely cautious about how this is going to go when we still have eight more epiodes ofa slow±burn. this show is slowly getting better each episode though it feels more like the natural hectic nature of being a celebrity hiding things with romantic moments seeping there way through at every turn rather than the initial flash±bang of trope after trope after trope 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ 。・:*:・゚★,。・:*:・゚☆ i like how ren is softening up without completely morphing & it’s more fun when we have moments ewhre miko isn’t fearing him. still mixed about how i feel about miko ,there’s a lot of great imagery in this episode though.

phone date!!!

For me this episode was all about Shu and the phone date. Sure Mio an dRen continue to be cute and bond, but that's not really different from the first two episodes is it?

the phone date is one of my favorite parts of the original and i must admit that i was a little dsiapointed that it was so short here. Despite not having enough screen time to fully realize the character, the actor does a good job of conveying Shu's thoughts and feelings for Mio with his looks and body language. he looked much better in his disguise than he previously did.

in the original much of the audience cheered for ShinWoo and you felt his pain, hoped against hope that he would get the girl and wanted to punch mi nam in the face b/c she kept picking that insufferable jerk! in this incarnation i feel Shu is the one intruding where is is not needed. when ever he looks at Ren and Mio together you dont get the feeling of "underdog" you get the feeling of "leave them alone!"

this shift for me is not better or worse in terms of story, but it is definately a good thing for the remake b/c, as i mentioned in the Ep 1. review it is these little differences that will keep fans of the franchise from feeling like they are watching "you're beautiful" dubbed in japanese and therefore tuning out.
