Even when you think you understood what's going on in the movie, the writer is always one step ahead of you! I watched this last night and I probably should not have picked a thriller/suspense genre before bedtime.

The events were all moving so fast and were very interesting and gripping from start to finish. The actors were all very impressive and believable. Han Neul’s performance is as briliant as ever. AND, I will definitely keep an eye on Kim Mu Yeol’s future roles because I am in love!

Needless to say, I was shocked by this film. The synopsis is just a small dip in the water to what this film is really about. I waited a while to watch this, because I was curious as to why it was rated MA on Netflix. I’m not into gory films so I didn’t wanna get caught up watching something sickening. This movie has violence, suspense (and I can not stress that enough), thrills and it grips you tightly the whole way through. My thought at the very end was, “Man, that was a ride!” And it was. I’m a bit of a scaredy-cat so I did end up covering my eyes and pausing it a few times, purely because of the suspense and erie music. The rewatch value, in my opinion, is high with this one. I would love to watch it with someone who has never seen it, and I’m sure I’ll convince someone to watch it with me. Give this one a chance.

oh wow, this was dark! and when i say dark, i mean pitch black.

this film was definitely thrilling. from start two finish it was unpredictable, suspenseful, and often even terrifying . there was no dull moment. it keeps you guessing. i was very confused in the first half - only for the pieces to masterfully fall into place in the second half.

the performances from the cast were haunting and moving. i quickly became invested in the two brothers, so the events of the film shocked and upset me. the plot and the backstories really make you feel strongly, and the ending was heartwrenching but it was necessary for the story.

i loved it, but i wouldn't really want to rewatch it. maybe once to notice any clues i missed? but the tone is very dark and the first half might lose it's charm when you have watched the entire film. i would recommend this to everyone though.

It's not often that I write a review. Not even for movies i've seen multiple times. This turned out to be a movie that screams  "write a review for me!" It's that good.
If you're into the suspense thriller genre that is...
When you go by the summary of the movie, you might think that it's just an abduction/family movie. I personally thought something down the lines of someone getting plastic surgery to invade the family and do something... I don't know. I'm happy it wasn't what I had in mind. It was so much better.

At the first half of the movie, you're slowly sucked into the story and the events happening to/around Jin Seok, and you think you sort of get what's happening or what is about to happen and then the second half of the movie kicks you all the way back. What you thought was happening, isn't happening at all. It surprised and intrigued me even further. Although, to be fair, when the second half of the movie started and they started to explain the events to you, I got bored for a few minutes. Gone was the suspense and the mystery. Just to start back up again. AND kick you in the gut with the ending. It's hard not to give any spoilers.

Anyways, before I digress. If you look closely in the first half, you get a few hints here and there that will give you an "Ah-ha!" moment later on, if you saw them. I didn't think much of them at first, until i went back to look at it again. There were a few major "Ah-Ha!" moments for me. And even though I didn't expect it at first, I cried during the last 20 minutes of the film. So yes, I would definitely recommend watching this.

Promissing, but didn't deliver

The first half of the movie is great, although confusing.
The second half is predictable and boring. It completely killed the movie. It's a bit like they tried to recreate Oldboy with little hints here and there to end up with the big reveal. But by that point, you're not invested anymore and everything feels cliché. Another case of a good concept at first, but that ends up falling flat in the end.

The actor are great however. The two main actos and the ones playing their parents (mostly the mother) do a really good job. However, as the movie get into the second part, because the story isn't that great anymore, the acting also suffers from it I feel like. I should be shocked, sad or something, but in the end, I was just annoyed mostly.

A piece of advice to whoever wants to watch this movie: watch it alone. Watching it with a group of friends might ruin it for you. The ideas of where the plot is going might make the ending feel flat.

The story is quite complex and the characters' motivations make you question their every behavior. At the same time, a quick guessing game will lead you to the correct answer, because at the end of the day, the ending is not as unexpected and surprising as one could wish for.

The acting was for sure the best aspect of the movie. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. While Haneul aced the role, I didn't expect any less of him. I was the most drawn to Kim Mu Yeol - acting and character wise. He showed both a soft/friendly, but also mad and driven performance, and both were done perfectly.

There was one moment in the movie that caught me off guard and I could not stop laughing for a good five minutes. One of the quite common tropes used in Korean dramas, that turned this movie into a comedy. Thank God it was close to the end, because I wouldn't be able to take any scenes seriously after it happened.

Overall, the process of watching the movie and guessing where it's going was more entertaining than the movie itself.

Damn that jump scare at the start of the movie scared me...I actually shrieked.!! xD

The movie plot had sort of a horror movie feeling and so did the 1st half of the movie, but there onwards it took a different turn. I didn't expect to actually like the movie when I started watching it...I'm so glad that I decided to check this movie. :) Lots of plot twists, although you can probably come up with many theories and guess how the story is gonna go. Still it was very interesting and thrilling to watch. And as far as I noticed, there were no plot holes. ?

Also the acting was brilliant...especially that of Kang Ha Neul! His role wasn't an easy one but he did an outstanding job!

Deserves a 10/10. The reason why I gave the re-watch value 3/10 is because the story is kind of tragic so I don't think I can re-watch it again..

I kept hitting pause and closing my eyes because the suspense slowly killed me! The storyline had me guessing at the beginning and still engaged until 3/4 of the movie. At that point the ending wasn’t too hard to guess. I liked how the characters went full circle and if you are a fan of Kang Ha Neul, this is a must watch for you! They couldn’t have picked a better actor for the lead role, and the supporting cast were all great as well. Good movie but it’s not one to watch before going to bed!

i don't know where to start. the movie is amazing. the rewatch vibe is sooo good. it's got this amazing twist where you just shock like legit. and it also has this kind of sense where it really gets you moving, which i barely notice in many shows or movies. very psychological so it really gets you into this "reality" horror that you always want to see in movies but barely get in touch with. they show the underground torture feeling, and the acting really hits the peek where you really empathy with the actors.

i wouldn't wanna spoil, but you do have this false identity going on that really sets the vibe and the tension, you have "suspicious" and the stage to revealing the truth which is really played well. a lot of action but in a small stage. honestly give the movie a try, like legit it got me clapping and jumping.

Meh

Plot: First half had me guessing, like what actually happened and it had some mystery and horror aura but then felt flat on the last 30 minutes of the movie. Many unanswered questions that will make you confuse as to why was the ending like that, especially to the victim. Didn’t make sense to me, honestly. He was supposed to have this strong personality plus he had to go through all the trouble just to find out the truth but then ‘bam’. Would have been nice if they added something to the ending apart from their ‘supposed’ destiny. It was supposed to be the icing on the cake but turned out to be a styrofoam.

Acting: All did great and convincing.

Music: Pretty appropriate and creepy especially on the first half of the movie.

Rewatch value: I don’t think there’s something to rewatch.

Overall: 5 for acting and great suspense of first half. They didn’t maintain the momentum and ended up with a disappointing ending despite the so-called ‘twist’. It wasn’t predictable but it didn’t have the ‘wow’ factor too. I guess I watched and read too many psychological/mystery dramas and movies already.

Amazing story with POWERFUL ACTOR!

First of all, a round of applause for KANG HA NEUL!
If a movie has to be good then actors must do a good job too only then a movie can be better, well you can say this is one of the reasons why this movie is good!
Another reason is the powerpack suspense of the movie, well if you have watched many movies then I can say you can guess in advance some points but not all, IT'S RECOMMENDED TO ALL SUSPENSE LOVERS!
EMOTIONAL TOUCH you can only feel when you are quite connected till the end, everyone was pitiable and everyone was quite scary.

Just had a chance to watch this movie in flight, I was browsing the movies in World Cinema , I came across with this one, when I saw Ha Neul's name I decided settle in with this movie.

It was the right choice, movie starts with a family moving to a new home.
Ha Neul is a boy who is studying for university entrance, least that's what we are being shown, but things aren't what seems to be...

First I thought it's a horror movie, but no it's a pretty good thriller.

It gives you the taste of a horror movie.

People are very biased about Ha Neul but I like him as an actor, I did like his performance on this one, as well as previous movies, including Scarlet Heart.

It's filled with plot twists, just when you think oo I got it, it's like this, damn in the next scene you see that you are wrong,

I don't want to spoil anything for giving some information because if I tell something I might ruin the entire movie, you get the know the truth just at the very end of the movie.

As I said previously things are not what it looks like.. Not everyone is who they claim to be :)

The film begins with Jin Seok's nightmare and the movie swallows you like a hurricane/ tornado, you don't want to move from your seat.

After the nightmare his brother got kidnapped and he was missing for about 20 days and when he gets back he starts to behave different.

The close relationship in between them is gone and they are now distant to each other,

There are lots of secret codes, such as the brother tells him not to enter a room, and Jin Seok
keeps hearing sounds / noises from that room and he gets curious obviously.

You don't know what's the reality or what's the fantasy (his dreams. subconscious)

Things are going very fast in the movie, so I suggest you to keep your remote control on hand while watching.

Screen writer is always ahead of you in this movie, it's hard to guess the ending.

I have to admit that the character Kang Ha Neul portraying is not an easy one but he portrays is beautifully..

If I have to give a spoiler I'll give two

Jin Seok goes to police station and they asked his birthdate, and the police tells him that so you are 40 years old, he says no he's only 20 years old, when they asked him the year he says 1997 and everyone starts to laugh and they show him the calendar on the wall, it's 2007 so he's missing 20 years and he doesn't remmeber anything about it..

I have to admit that not only Ha Neul did a great job also Kim Mu Yeol was quite realistic portraying the brother.

When Seok's brother gone missing mother (Na Young Hee) & father (
Moon Sung Geun) were extremely cold and I couldn't understand why at the time.. You'll understand it at the end :) everything you see will be resolved at the end of the movie.

It's not a romance so no happy ending for all..

Happy watching
