Had low expectations for this drama but was pleasantly surprised. It's my first time watching Seo Kang Joon and I was very impressed by his performance. Acting out duel roles can be very tricky and hard to execute properly, and I thought he did an excellent job to the point where I could have mistaken him for 2 separate actors. He nearly impressed me as much as Yeo Jin-Goo in The Crowned Clown (although that show still takes the cake for Top 5). I was hoping the sci-fi factor would veer a litttttle bit into fantasy by somehow giving him true chemical emotions and sensation near the end. I was craving a good cry out of Nam-Shin III or a reaction out of pain, but the emotional depth he was able to show near the end was very satisfying. I really liked the FL and Young Hoon. Their chemistry with both Shins was palpable (in platonic, romantic, and angry scenes).
It was interesting to see how the dynamic between both Shins and the FL and Young Hoon changed throughout the show.

Overall, I don't know if I'd watch this show again, but I think it's worth the watch nonetheless.

Wonderful watch

I really enjoyed this series. It's a very interesting plot that makes you contemplate what it means to be human and at what point would you start seeing/treating AI as such. Also what place they could possibly hold in society.

Thsi was also my first introduction into Seo Kang Joon. He played Nam Shin 3 with such innocense and heart that you really start to feel for him, even though he is 'just' an AI robot.

First I was worried for the ending, because K-drama's usually have 'realistic' ending where regular westerns shows mostly have a romantic ending. It was realistic, but still enough to satisfy the romantic in me. Absolutely worth a (re)watch.

This is PEEEERFECT let me tell you why...

I may be exaggerating but this drama deserve a spot in my top 5 kdrama list of all time!!

STORY- Yes I love the plot/storyline. At first I really wondered how this will work out between a robot and human and some may find it weird and criticize the series before they even watch after reading the synopsis and would even hope for the real Human Nam Shin to end up with So Bong and will be left disappointed. However, this series will prove them wrong, because who would hate an adorable robot like Nam Shin III, right? The cast didn't overact and I love how every characters in the story played their part. Especially Ye Na I sooo much appreciate her, she contributed a lot in the movie where she would do everything to help Nam Shin even though he doesn't love her ( which I hoped for them two to end up together but it will be weird to have the a boyfriend with the same face as Nam Shin III)

ACTING- Hats Off to all cast for their superb acting, Korea has a standard in acting and so does here in Philippines and almost all characters in korea are really versatile even cameos are doing a goodjob. Though I still see some korean actors/actresses that is a little bit over when it comes to their acting capabilities once in a while, would stare too much and is really unrealistic I would cringe. In this series Seung Yeon and Kang Joon really have a good chemistry here and I love how Kang Joon did a good Job portraying the Robot Nam Shin.

MUSIC- Yes of course, i love their OST 'Is it love'. I already have it on loop hahahhaha

REWATCH- Don't me hahaha I watched this THRICEEE! I can even tell you the details of each episode here :D

THIS IS A MUST WATCH!

A ride more rollicking dan I imagined !!

DRAMATIC & FANTASTICLY executed kdrama wid human-robo romance !! Abt a robot wid a "heart" as he experiences life & grows into a "human." Seeing him as he longs 2 b accepted 4 wat he is,was so touching to watch.
INTRESTING PLOT ==TIN-CAN COUPLE==ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ==LOVE OF A MOTHER==OST==CHINGU

//VERDICT// Not gonna lie; I was a little sad 2 get 2 de end of dis show as I found myself having a pretty good time. To me, best of all was the fact that show understood its main appeal & remembered 2 keep on giving Namshin opportunities 2 keep on growing more & more independent & human-like & time 2 demonstrate dat he does have feelings, even if it’s against his operating system.

P.S Seo Kang Joon is absolutely fantastic in this, demonstrating acting chops dat I never knew he had. Show is worth the watch just to see him in action.

I want that robot

I absolutely loved this drama, every episode. All of them... but the last two. The ending is forced. Illogical things happen and almost random events allow the plot to move forward. A bit 'a mess, in short. So my note and my review go from ep 1 to ep 17 beginning. The summary is: this robot is drop dead gorgeous. I was also passionate about the plot. The relationship between the robot and the girl is adorable and the chemistry between the two is sparkling. The evolution of the humanity of the robot is told really well. Unfortunately, there are a few X-rated issues that remain unexplained and that make me question the success of their eternal love, but whatever, let's pretend everything is perfect there too. Besides, they are so cute!

The Feels

Idk how I ended up here, but I'm so glad I did! Anyway, if you can get past the "I'm a human who loves a robot" theme this is actually an amazing drama. In classic K-Drama style, there's fluffy romance and plenty of plot twists that all come crashing down in the juiciest way! If you don't wanna upper cut the MC into another dimension through 99.9% of this drama you're definitely a robot lol Seo Kang Joon/Nam Shin does the split personality vibe flawlessly, which made this series an even bigger emotional roller coaster slam packed with high blood pressure and family issues lmao
Highly recommend if you want something romantic with even amounts of chaos
100/10 for the ending
Enjoy...

In my opinion

The plot was very nice, I found the plot fresh and unique. I cannot say the acting was believable but sometimes a bit too much. The main actor pulled off the two characters very well and the actress who play the main's actor mom shone for the minor screentime she got. The show's effects were very cringey too me and I sometimes found myself laughing at the way the male lead tried to pull off the effects. The love line seemed a bit unnatural, I mean it is between a robot and a human but that's not the unusual part the buildup of the love line seemed a little bit flaccid. I had a bit of a struggle watching this drama, but others may think otherwise. Overall, you can watch this show if you please, it's just now worthy of a rewatch though.

Plot + Review

Plot: The drama tells the story of an android called Nam Shin III who must pretend to be the son of a rich family when the real Nam Shin falls into a coma. — Nam Shin's mother, Oh Ro Ra, is a genius on brain technology and artificial intelligence so when her son, the real Nam Shin, is taken away from her at a young age, in her grief she creates an android that looks exactly like her son and has it grow up in the place of Nam Shin. But when Nam Shin, who is a third generation heir to PK group, gets in an accident and is comatose, the android Nam Shin III must learn how to take his place. The android pretends to be Nam Shin and he has a bodyguard named So-Bong, who he falls in love with. Kang So-bong was a member of Nam Shin's security detail until she was dismissed in disgrace. She was also a former MMA fighter who had to quit due to an injury from competition. Later, she becomes Nam Shin III's bodyguard, determined to get to the bottom of his strange comments and behavior. However, she gets more than what she'd bargained for when she starts falling for him - and has to keep him safe from the very people who'd tried to murder Nam Shin.

Review: I loved this drama, it was amazing. The acting, casting, endroid, and everything else. It was really cool to watch. It was never boring, I really enjoyed watching it. I love the end of the drama. I was really sad when Nam Shin 3 got shot instead of the real Nam Shin and fell in the sea. But then Nam Shin did everything he could do to find Nam Shin 3. And eventually they find him.

Awesome show, adorable cast, with minor quibbles at the end

What a great show. I was sucked in immediately: this is exciting, funny yet also heartfelt from the outset. The characters pop off the screen and get you engaged right away. The greatest strength of this show is the complexity of its characters and relationships. As far fetched as the premise and plot can get, and the show doesn't even bother getting into the nitty gritty details of how the science would work, there is a core of psychological authenticity to how the characters interact.

Nam Shin III is the most adorable marshmallow of a character ever, and I loved how the FL was won over by him and was able to open her heart after the adversity she had dealt with earlier in life. Watching them grow together and fall in love was so sweet, I swooned hard. The typical evil chaebol shenanigans were well executed. Supporting characters were also rich and layered.

I thought this could be a 10/10 but it slightly fumbled the bag in the last 10 minutes of the last episode (Human Shin has a random two minute redemption arc? Nope, don't buy it. Evil Henchman is totally chill in prison after his 30 years of evil schemes amount to nothing, nope, that's not how that would go. Why wasn't the FL informed that the ML was being repaired, everyone just let her mourn for a year wtf?). Minor quibbles though, this show was awesome.

An Interesting Concept Turned Questionable

I decided to watch this drama because it dealt with the A.I. topic which is currently relevant in 2023. It doesn't exactly hold up in certain technological aspects which led to some plot holes, but it had some charming points.

The Highs:
For a drama that dealt with the theme of the inherent good/evil of humanity, the robot main character Nam Shim III provides many wholesome and hopeful moments. I had a good time watching his scenes in how he interacted with people. It was also an interesting contrast to how we only had the perspective of seeing the human Nam Shin slowly lose his hope in the humans around him, the humans that are supposed to be his family.

The Lows:
I mentioned that the theme is about humanity's inherent good/evil which is an okay concept in itself. However, my problem was that they used way too many characters to show humanity's inherent evils. Most of the human characters did things that made them unlikable from the beginning. For example, in episode 1 the female lead Kang So Bong got betrayed by her so-called best friend who then had the audacity to act like So Bong's sister by acting like she's also close to So Bong's father throughout the rest of the series. If anyone acted like that in real life, most people would cut that person out but they somehow stayed friends.

The Buffalo:
Nam Shin's backstory with Young Hoon reminded me of a BL I saw about a chaebol who care more than usual about his personal assistant.

What I liked:

+ the freaking story is so different and unconventional from the usual k-dramas. We have had mermaids, aliens, time-travellers, vampires and now the next big thing are robots! I really like how they're touching on the genre of inter-species romance, as it is something that is quite taboo and not always taken seriously.

+ it's unpredictable. I swear (so far at ep 28), every freaking episode has never stopped surprising me.

+ the acting is phenomenal namely by Seo Kang-Joon, playing two completely different roles & he delivers it very realistically.

+ character development is amazing! you can see how the characters learn and grow throughout the series.

+ the music matches with the atmosphere and context of the drama/scene. I personally love their OST by Lim Ji Eun called 'The Longing Dance'; it gives me shivers by just listening to it!

What I disliked:

- the political/power struggle scenes is a little boring (for me personally) to watch, but is equally important to be able to understand what is going on
- some of the characters may annoy the crap out of you but you either see them develop/change or they remain that way, either way it's some really good acting
- it may drag at the beginning but the story does pick up its' pace as you keep going

All in all, like it or not, I would say give it a chance. Although right now I have no idea how the show will end, but I think it's still worth a shot :) x

I just finished watching 'Are you human too?' today And I so badly wanted to write about it.

Well, I started watching this drama months ago...then dropped it after watching till 3-4 episodes. I'll be honest, as much as I liked the plot , that being my reason for even starting it, I felt discouraged after a few ep. It felt dragging, a plot all over the place, confused and random characters.

But thankfully I decided to pick it up again, unless I'd have missed a great watch. As the show neared 9-10 episodes, it came all together. Everyone is hiding something , twists are suddenly too much, it takes the time to gather everything together. Even the hated characters have their own pov and reasons which grips the the plot beautifully. The romance part is really subtle here if you ask me. Romance isn't even a point here. Whole point is that damn title. "Are you human too?" That one question from a AI robot's pov makes us question if a person is only Human because they're born from a womb, can bleed, can feel..yet don't understand pain, loss, kindness, love. Or a robot who understood love, sadness, knew kindness, even though he couldn't feel it. As much as unrealistic the whole plot is, they tried their best to balance out sci-fi and realism. If one's going to be a picky snob saying "these are impossible" then go ahead. The point isn't whether the plot is unrealistic, whole point was who was more Human?
That android Nam Shin lll or so called Humans around him.
The ending was bound to be sad but they made it somewhat happy forcefully, but after you've cried your eyes out nothing matters but to see the two leads together. :3

*Kudos to Seo Kang Joon's acting as the robot and the Human Nam Shin. His acting kept me in a trance until the end. As much as loved the robot character of his, I equally despised the human counterpart. That only shows how capable he is as an actor. He definitely isn't in the second lead syndrome list anymore.

Soundtracks were awesome, pulling the exact heartstrings :') cast were great too!
