This is a Japanese sports and slice of life movie adaptation from a manga, which also has the same title. I was quite surprised when I saw the ratings are really low. But for me, this is good!

The story revolves around a girl who is very shy and wants to improve. Thus, she joins the club. It's a fresh story about friendship and the struggles they faced while playing Naginata. Although I think they should've added more scenes? There are inspiring scenes that made me plant my own seed and nourished them. The actresses are from an idol group, Nogizaka46. And I think they did a pretty good job.

I might re-watch this on my spare time! This is really a good watch. The cinematography is well-done, I liked it. I suggest you to watch this if you loved Chihayafuru! Though it may not pass the standards of the said movie, this is still good.

[WARNING: the rating and review I give have the possibility to be subjective due to my preference for the genres, scenes or casts]

The beginning is really funny because of the clumsiness of Asahi (^o^) But after that, the story start to get serious. This movie tell us that woman need to be brave, that we all matters and have a power in ourselves.

All the casts doing a great acting, considering the majority of them are singers.

Basically, I love martial arts and naginata quite new for me, so I love watched this (^_^)

Asahinagu is a high school sports movie focusing on the obscure elegant form of traditional spear play - Naginata. It's almost like Kendo, except less aggressive and more elegant, and has another part of the body that when attacked, will award the attacker a point. The movie failed to impress me in most of the areas aforementioned, leaving me disappointed even a whole day after finishing it.

I'll be honest, I picked this show because of the cute lead - Nishino Nanase. Which is good and all, a cute lead playing the role of a rookie getting strong, finding out more about her own strengths and weaknesses. However, this was shown very superficially, and her overall character development was weak, let alone the other characters. As for their acting skills, only the other lead, Shiraishi Mai, and coach, Eguchi Noriko, did well in playing their roles.

The motivation for most of the scenes are lacking and the cohesion between them are not as smooth as most other successful high school sports shows like Chihayafuru or March comes in like a Lion. I believe that if this were spread out over a few movies, there might be the chance that it could've been at the very least decent to watch. Attempting to cram a story about personal and team growth within 2 hours is never going to work. Period.

It is a waste, in my opinion. These girls are idols and this is a platform for them to step into the movie business, but they were given such a bad script to follow. Oh how we have lost such a good chance for cute girls to shine. Oh woe is us.

(Out of all the bad things this movie has, there was just 1 good thing I gained out of it - Ito Marika is cute. God damn cute.)

I think only Nogizaka46 fans who's gonna enjoy it to the fullest.

The plot is like anime called "Haikyuu" where a new students in a high school join an extracurricular but instead of volleyball, in this film was Naginata (a kind of ancient martial arts reserved for women) and they tried to get into the inter-high competition.

From the story I like it but not that good, and there's a lot of Naginata Battle but the execution feels lacking and can't make me feel the thrilled.

And lastly the very good things about this film was there's a lot of heartwarming scene, when they're smile, cry, or anything, it's make my heart warm, and I truly love that.
