Mixed Feelings

To start, the synopsis is not accurate and needs to be updated, as it is based on the book and not the show.

I really wanted to like Han Sen, but he was so selfish up until literally the last episode. (Though I am glad he finally woke up and started being decent, it took way too long) Ah Li was one of the most unbelievable characters I have ever seen. No woman that successful would put her career and freedom at risk the way she does all for one man. Her obsession ruined so many lives, including her own. The way she had zero remorse right up until the end was gross.

I hated how many things were left unresolved. Nan Sheng/Qiao Man never confronted He Ping over the whole pregnancy thing with Ah Li, so I don’t know if she ended up believing it or not. We don’t know if she forgave her “sister”, she didn’t even go see her college “best friend” when she regained her memories, we don’t know what happened to Han Sen’s brother’s wife and BIL (they started scheming at one point for what reason?), Peter came back in for what??, what happened to Ben?, The Beacon seemed like such a big deal for some reason and then eventually it just….isn’t, what happened to Nan Sheng’s uncle? I could just go on and on. I liked the casting and thought the acting was good, it just dragged so much for no reason. I’ve never seen so many flashback episodes either. I’d almost rather watch a drama based on everything going on in the past before she loses her memories.

Also, the ending was terrible. Though we know they very likely do finally end up together, I’d have liked it to feel more satisfying. They obviously love each other and I wish Nan Sheng would have been an adult about her feelings instead of just running away. I think they could adapt this into a movie instead and it would be better.

A draggy enjoyable drama that is worth the first watch

From seeing all the reviews it seems majority of the people didnt understand the how beautiful an ending that is not implied.
its not a shitty ending like g.o.t .season 8. but its a bittersweet happy ending that has a bad aftertaste.
the opening episodes will get you hooked while the last 10 episodes will feel dragging.
the story is pretty mid would have been interesting if it didnt drag too much but this is what you can expect from a 50 episode drama.
acting is not bad but its not good either. there's few tear jerker here and there but not so much that it overwhelmes you.
music is pretty good along with ambience that really captures the scenes
and sadly there is no rewatch value in here. remembering the dragging last 10 episodes will prolly kill you.
now for the ending
the music is kind of a troll during the truck to plane scene.. makes you think she married the ugly dude..
but when you reach the ending where the face each other they still love each other very much.
im not exactly sure when other people say its an open ending but for me its a happy ending that is not implied.
im not really a fan of vo scenes . but this is ok.
they ask each other questions and answer them.
from that 2 minute sequence we realize ugly dude and fmc never got together but is still is good friends since she still goes to his place to eat dinner.
and mc and fmc facing together just smiling pretty much says everything even without typical wedding scene.
fmc implied she didnt get married since we didnt see a ring on the painting finger.
there's actually a few times fmc wore the ring but through out the last 10 she didnt wore them.
personally i wouldnt be friends with ugly dude.. they basically made a new identity for her.
throughout the series there seems to be few instances where certain scenarios doesnt really make scenes.
just like the kiss scene on the starting frame. we just went there at the beginning of episodes. and letting other people enter your house even if you dont know them.. which is the case with stamp seal etc. its not realistic. i wont list all of them since this is 50 episodes.. just watch this. i still recommend this series if you have alot of time.

A lot of episodes, ending could have been better.

NOTE: The spoilers will be put at the end of my review, so you can read it if you want.

BACKGROUND INFO--------------------------------------
Qiao Man (female lead) is a girl who lives in Barcelona with her boyfriend Han Sen. Qiao Man was actually originally Nan Shen. Nan Shen was raised by her father. Lin He Ping (male lead) was raised by his mother. Nan Shen and Lin He Ping's parents decided to get married. But before their wedding day, Nan Sheng's dad was hit by a truck, and passed away. So Lin He Ping's mom took care of Nan Sheng. Lin He Ping and Nan Sheng were technically siblings, but they eventually fell in love with each other. Lin He Ping's mother didn't approve of their relationship, and they both split up in high school. Nan Sheng wanted a break so she traveled to see the ocean. She sent Lin He Ping a text telling him where she was, but the message was noticed by Xu Ah Li. Xu Ah Li was a great friend of Lin He Ping, but she loved him too. She deleted the message, and went to find Nan Sheng. Nan Sheng fell into the water and was rescued by Han Sen on the shore of Barcelona. Nan Sheng lost her memory, and filled in with a new identity - Qiao Man. Several years later, Lin He Ping and Qiao Man meet in Barcelona's town square when Lin He Ping was on a business trip. Lin He Ping thought it was Nan Sheng, but because Qiao Man lost her memory years ago, she didn't know what he was talking about. Lin He Ping and Qiao Man became good friends, and flew back to China together for their own reasons. Many of Nan Sheng's childhood friends, including Xu Ah Li were perplexed to see Qiao Man, given that she looked so similar to Nan Sheng. But none of them except for Han Sen knew that Qiao Man really was Nan Sheng. Qiao Man and Lin He Ping's relationship develops and they start to date. But the jealous Xu Ah Li creates misunderstandings between the two, and the leads have to clear the air for themselves and for each other.

STORY------------------------------------------------------
Okay...definitely the aspect of this drama that is emphasized in pretty much every review. It was a pretty good storyline, I thought it was going to be interesting. Things were going smoothly, but towards the end, most of the episodes were just flashbacks of the leads' childhood. So the format was basically: The leads meet, explain a little bit of backstory, develop relationship, conflict starts, starts revealing truth, childhood rewind of what exactly happened, truth completely revealed, end. I am honestly really surprised I didn't drop this drama, since the story got so boring halfway. There was 1000% no need for so many episodes, which makes me even more surprised I finished the drama. The ending, was definitely the most disappointing part of the whole drama. (reveal in the spoilers at the bottom)

ACTING/CAST----------------------------------------------
I feel like the whole reason I started watching this drama was for the cast. I love Jelly Lin and Song Wei Long. The character Xu Ah Li really got on my nerves, I wanted to punch the screen every single time she did or said something unethical. But that means the actress for that role was really good. I also appreciate the effort put into the backstory, which made it better, but what I really liked was the change between Nan Sheng and Qiao Man. Nan Sheng is a very gentle, passionate, easy to be pushed around type of girl, whereas Qiao Man is strong, expressive, not easy to be pushed around type of girl. So for the most part, she was the smarter lead in the story. But the fact that this determined girl was fooled by Xu Ah Li's little lie really mixed up my view of her character. I love the acting and the cast, but I do think the character of Lin He Ping could be built better. I wish he was more of the strong Qiao Man, with a powerful stand in his actions and decisions.

MUSIC----------------------------------------------------------
I don't remember much of the music besides the intro, and I always skipped over it since it wasn't too great.

REWATCH VALUE--------------------------------------------
I know giving this section a 1.0 star may seem cruel or over judged, but I really can't give it a higher rating. 56 episodes! I doubt anyone would ever watch this again, given it's frustrating ending. Watching these 50 episodes AGAIN would definitely not be worth it. Others may have different opinions about this, but I don't think this is worth rewatching, knowing my emotions will be wasted for such an ending, and such decisions of the characters.

OVERALL------------------------------------------------------
I think the writer had really good views on the backstory of the characters but I don't see where the story went. The ending should have been better. The execution of the storyline was not as good as it should be. I am sad to say that this is probably the worst drama I've watched so far, but I appreciate it's efforts. Overall, 7.0, which is considered "okay" in my view. Not sure I would suggest it to anyone though.

SPOILERS BELOW:
I have repeatedly said throughout my review that the ending was the worst part. There is pretty much no difference in terms of relationship status between the leads from the start to end. In the beginning they were just friends, in the end, they became just friends. Qiao Man decided to stay with Han Sen and go back to Barcelona, even though her heart was with Lin He Ping. So the leads separated for a whole year, and the drama ending with them as friends meeting once again in Barcelona. Pretty disappointing ending for such a wonderful backstory.

Time waste

Very slow drama ,each episodes were boring . Story had no spark and charm . Involvement of too much characters made the drama uninteresting . Many times I thought to drop the drama but only to know that both the person was same so helplessly I had watched till end . No need to stretched the story too much . Many scenes were unnecessary. Starting song and ending song was good. From my side I big no to drama . Very boring . Ending story disappointed a lot. No doubt theme pdf the story was not bad but it was not executed properly.

I haven't read its novel, but from watching the drama and reading the plot of the novel, the stories are very different, so if you expect to have the same storyline as the novel, this is not it. The story begins AFTER heping meets Qiao Man and then slowly progresses with their relationship while showing flashbacks of Nan Sheng whenever heping is reminded of her when he sees Qiao Man.
Overall because, again, I haven't read the novel, I can't compare it to the og story but I personally really like how this version is looking.

for me, I judge a drama/movie by how far I can watch it in terms of how much I can stand or enjoy watching it without thinking about skipping a scene in the story. Usually it only takes 10 seconds. If it's really bad, I immediately direct the mouse cursor to the next scene. Guess which one I do? Yes, I directed the mouse cursor, what's worse is that from episodes 1 to 24 it only takes 2 hours. I really felt disgusted with the male lead and the big-eyed woman. Even though the nature of the main female character sometimes annoys me, I don't hate it. Overall I give it a score of 2 just because the main female character is beautiful and the song is good

Dragged and annoying

From the description, drama seems to be interesting and that's what drew me to it. But actually apart from that summary, there's nothing interesting in it.

The female lead is absolutely gorgeous. Her smile is mesmerising and her acting seems to be good too. The same to the male lead but that's all I can say about them and the characters. I don't like any other person in this drama. For example Ah Li was too pushy and Han Lin was too dumb. Watching only a few episodes, allowed me already to notice a tendency that I bet will continue throughout the whole series - everyone will be telling and deciding what is best for the Qiao Man and noone will ask for her opinion.

It's been a long time since I've been so annoyed and irritated by fictional character. Because the storyline is not bad, its simple but not bad. What is bad is the characters who are impossible. Drama has 50 episodes and I managed to see bearly 10% of it and you can already say that the series will be full of unnecessary scenes extending the episodes ? And looking at the comments and rewievs of the dramas placed on many platforms - I was not far from the truth.

Dragged dramas are awful but streched drama with annoying characters to the core is something too much for me. BYE BYE BEAUTY!
