Don't watch this if you haven't watched the drama, you'll not understand anything.

You're here only after watching the drama.

This will be a spoiler review :
' How do people see you? '

' You only see what you want '
' You only seek what you desire '

These three lines are the essence of this whole series.
After watching the series, which was made on a whole lot different perspective,
this movie was made just to clear that, what was shown in the series and what was actually perceived is way too different.

The drama was focused on from Yazaki's perspective after hearing the stories and this movie is based on Ito's actions xD

After watching this movie, the outlook and perspective of the drama have totally changed.
Lol, it's so fucking twisted,
We only see what we wanna see in a person, only determine through what we want to see in them.
What a great fucking example!

Speechless! I mean everybody had a different image of him.
And to a certain extent, we as the viewer now got to know what was really going on and How deceptive thing can be!

I enjoyed it quite a lot.

That bathtub played a significant role! Implying closing ourselves and limiting to what we want to see just due to the fear of finding something rotten or unacceptable, how worse it is.
If you notice it was Yazaki who instigated all of them, either way, to make things more dramatic for her own plot!
Although Ito's character is shown as a bastard, he's what you call a chiller. People such as him sway at every opportunity just to not get hurt and enter the ring as he mentioned.
He wasn't as much of a bastard as shown in the drama, but his nonchalant character and Yazaki's manipulation played a big role in determining the outcome

Awesome direction, a bit different from the drama which of course was intentional as this was the explanation of what happened, Nonetheless
Brilliantly executed, awesomely shot and acted phenomenally!

PS : Miki's scene at the hotel with Ito was one of the craziest and funniest scene I've ever seen and my fav from this series. xD

I watched the drama back when it first appeared on netflix. It is an original story perspective(in my watching experience). To appreciated this drama/movie combination more i think that having personally experienced all of these situation at one point helps. Knowing people like Ito-Kun helps.

This still feels unfinished, like their is still more growth for both main characters. If they finish it here , though i am satisfied. The movie is the same story as the drama but from a different point of view and feels like a missing scenes reel with 20 minutes of new content but it did not feel redundant, instead it made me want to go back a re-watch the drama to cobble it all together in my head.

The opening song ???????? - ?Pain, Pain Go Away feat. MUTSUKI from Softly? (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4gbha39ksG4) is one of the best things to take away from this

i gave this a 7.5 because I know because of my life I got all of, but others may not.

I watched the drama a couple of months ago and I thought it was lacking an explanation or something in the end that I thought hopefully would be resolved in this movie. However, I just spent two hours of my life watching the exact same thing with a slightly different ending, which is why I decided to rate the film this low. I was not a fan of the original story even though I was digging that plot but either it was badly executed or I'm not used yet to Japanese storytelling. I really liked the main actress though so I'll make sure to check out more of her works. Also, if someone is reading this and trying to decide whether to watch the movie or the drama I'd go for the drama. It has more of an open ending in comparison but it was overall more enjoyable.

The movie is a bizzare one. The concept was not easy to spot right from the begining. I guess it would have been better if I've watched the drama first, as this one combined everything in such a small length. So, at times, the story got confusing and not easy to keep up with.

That said, the plot was kind of interesting. The main character, Ito, and his "teacher", the woman who was trying to hold on to her past, were two different people and still, almost similar. In the end, it was pointed out that it was a battle between the two of them, at least from the guy's point of view.

In addition, the performances were really good from everyone in the cast.

So, five out of ten.

First of all, I recommend you watch the drama before you watch the movie. The drama is very short (don't let the first episode length of almost an hour fool you, every other episode is only 20 minutes long and there are only 8 episodes in total!) but without watching it I feel like one important message might not come across, and that is that every story has different perspectives. The drama basically only shows Rios side, what she makes out of the info the four women give her. The movie, however, shows Ito's experience. I had some free time so I binge watched the drama and movie in one go and while the Ito of Rios perspective (drama version) felt a bit inconsistent and like the biggest jerk out there, Ito's perspective was a lot more congruent and likable. Like a review before me said, Ito is not a jerk at his core. He avoids getting too involved with other people because he thinks that way he can't get hurt, which makes him act aloof around other people and ends up hurting them. Still, we get to see that even though he puts up a front, he has feelings and those feelings can get hurt. I think Masaki Okada's performance was outstanding and really brought a multi-faceted Ito-kun to life.
The women in this story are not perfect either and their behavior and problems seem very real. Each of them has a totally different view of Ito, showing how subjective we perceive other people and how we might even unconsciously push our ideals onto them. Through their encounter with Ito and also through their "counseling" with Rio, they are able to truly look at themselves, grow, and move forward.
All in all, I enjoyed the drama and the movie together very much. I recommend it as a package to everyone that likes movies about human flaws and growth. The romance tag might be a bit misleading, though. If you expect the typical rom-com sweet kind of romance here you could be disappointed.

The cinematography was professional. The soundtrack was somewhat entertaining, but not enjoyable. The actors and actresses were familiar and attractive.

I found the plot to be boring and unrelatable. It had a bad female lead and poor supporting female cast. The male characters were not appealing and the humor was flat.

The show seemed to have an indie, punk theme. Quirky and alternative. The BGM was upbeat but overly repetitive.

I usually refrain from using the word boring but with all the good shows available to binge, this show was mediocre in comparison.
