Right so this is my first time writing a review so bear with me.

First of all,the thing that ruined this show for me the most is that they give you no indication whatsoever how much time passes between certain moments. Which is really annoying bc Meng Yan falls in love with Mo Bai really quickly and makes her seem like a really dumb person (to me at least), but actually, I have no idea how long they've known each other.
Tbh I really disliked Meng Yan's character anyway. She fell in love with Mo Bai in like 2 seconds and still kept going after him after being dumbed by him TWO times? Seriously who does that. Especially when you have a great guy who already admitting to liking you anyway. Realistically, no one would continue to go after a guy after being dumbed, especially the way Mo Bai treated her. If I were her I would have thought he had bi-polar disorder of something with the way he was acting.

I liked Mo Bai's character all things considered. Every action he took made sense to me in terms of him being a robot so I couldn't really fault his personality for that, since tbh he doesn't have any for most of the show. I didn't really understand the ending though. He was finally self-aware so idk why he took that choice.

Also, again because of the timeline issue, the whole plot of Yu Fei getting cancer really annoyed me. Maybe because I've had cancer myself, but it really bothered me how they didn't show anything at all. I'm guessing she's been having chemotherapy for months but it seemed like she's only had her diagnosis for a week, and when she died she still looked exacly the same and wasn't even bald? I mean I don't mind that they added that to her character but at least make it believable and realistic then.

Also the ending was really abrupt and strange. I've been watching asian drama's for quite a while so I'm used to most drama's having a really bad ending, but it annoys me all the same. You can't even call it an open ending, it's like the writer suddenly died and there's no one to write the ending so they just left it or something. You don't know what happened to CEO Lu, you don't know what happened to Mo Bai, you don't know whats going to happen to Hai Ling and Ke Ming. Literally nothing.

Anyways, wouldn't recommend watching it. The storyline was bad, the continuation of time didn't make sense, the special effects were aweful, everything. The only good thing was the actors.

The Good, The Bad, The Not-so-Ugly

Well this was definitely a mixed bag. I can't say it's the best thing I've watched this year, but it was slightly better than the average contemporary C-drama with its reconstitution of many standard tropes. Unlike many series of late, I actually watched the entire drama. Of course, caveat, I am already biased toward shows that examine the relationship of technology and people. Still, let me tell you what I thought. What did I...

LIKE?
*some actually meaningful content exploring what it means to be alive through hospital case scenarios as well as AI vs. human tension
*showing the challenges of parent & adult child relationships from both sides rather than black and white, right & wrong
*the FL's natural altruism and kindness that wasn't ridiculously extreme, just thoughtful; her earnestness that wasn't ridiculous and naive--she was actually clever sometimes
*the lack of a malicious 2FL intent on ill will for the FL

DISLIKE?
*polarized characterization of corporation(s) seeking profit without morals or care for individuals
*underlying encouragement of stalker-ish tendencies....when someone says they don't like you, pursue them relentlessly in the name of love & just ignore what they say
*glorification of excessive drinking with FL not remembering previous night and frequently over-drinking
*trite and overly relevant moralizing hospital cases (man unable to choose, brother living for brother)
*and yes, this is completely about me, but the AI expert's desktop computer screen mis-spelled UPLOAD as UPLAOD. It drove me a bit nutty to see it repeatedly.

FIND NOT SO UGLY?
*the coldness of ML was moderated by genuine, broader expressions as his character developed
*the FL's blunt insistence on not taking advantage of the 2ML's obvious affection and multiple offerings
*the scenery with travel to rural villages, a glacier, the sea, a resort and even just the city skyline
*the relationships of colleagues at the hospital (depth and not just caricaturized extremes)

idk what to feel tbh

Honestly, I have watched so many Korean and Chinese dramas that I am used to all the cliches, love triangles and etc that usually happen. I started watching this drama because I knew most of the cast (FL, and ML) from previous dramas they performed in and liked their acting skills.

Overall, this drama was interesting, but at the same time it disappointed me greatly. I thought the idea of the story was interesting, but the way it was executed was poor to me. That is just my opinion though. I thought there could have been a lot more character development for Meng Yan. Like, I said, I understand the drama cliche of the FL falling for the ML lead because she saw him save someone, but in this case I felt like she just fell in love with him way to fast. Like girl, come on, you have not even met the man yet formally. Yes, yes love-at-first-sight is in the description, but still. Watch it and you may see what I mean.

Another character that kind of bothered me was Ke Ming. I can see his love he has for her and indeed he has more scenes with Meng Yan than Mo Bai does, but I felt like his love also became a crazy obsession and stalking. I felt like if he truly loved her, he would have accepted the fact that she did not feel the same way for him, and moved on. I would have not opposed their friendship and I felt like he indeed was a great addition, but I just felt like the writer could have wrote his character better in terms of his love for Meng Yan. All love for Ke Ming though his character is such a caring, sweet and great person, but in terms of his love for Meng Yan I just thought at times he was stalking her.

This brings me to another point that bothered me. I wanted to see more of Meng Yan and Mo Bai's journey together as a couple. From how they originally met, to the end when she recovers from the accident and they reunite. The ending could have been done better. I wanted to see more of the Mo Bai and Meng yan's love story. (now this where I want to see the cliche stuff) I wanted to see him kiss her, hug her, hold her hand, become jealous, support her on her journey in work, and etc. I understand he is an A.I. robot, but I felt like more could have been done to show the love line between Meng Yan and Mo Bai because afterall they have been through a lot of sticky situations. I saw someone write a review on youtube about the series and they stated this: " It would have been cool if Mo Bai hadn't left when her Mom sort of made that assumption, it would have been nice to hear him speak on his love for her instead of just running away as he did throughout the series." I agree with this person whole heartedly. I felt this drama was filled with Mo Bai running away from how he is truly feeling after facing some inner turmoil. Rather than facing it he cont to hurt Meng Yan and just expected her to return to him later as if everything was ok. It was not okay. He clearly broke her heart several times and caused her excruciating pain. He probably felt the same, but if her truly cared and loved her, he should have stayed with her through thick and thin and they could have worked through the problems together. I can say the same for Meng Yan, why was she staying with a man who was constantly hurting her? and even after hurting her and causing her heart to break, she went back to him so easily. Seriously? Like, come on girl have some self love and self respect.

It's not a spoiler!

Hi, I think this drama is very good, I do not understand how anyone can write that this drama is a waste of time because I know that this drama I also wanted to give up but I gave it a chance and it was... I have to say the first episodes aren't very interesting but after 5 episodes it's interesting, exciting.
I have high demands for romantic drama, and I have to say, this was pretty good. The cast acted very well, but what I probably didn't like was that the scientist, the father of the chief male lead, was still showing up.
But later it was all fine.. This drama is worth it!!

good idea but created in The worst possible way

good idea but created in The worst possible way
this series took forever to complete. I basically skipped most of the parts. This was just a flat story for me.
Nothing appealed
The story was just ongoing and last 2 episodes a negative character appears. I mean what the hell why would you even appear? It was just dragging the story.
It had good characters but the writers didn't do well.
The acting was good in terms but still, it was expressionless for me.
I expected much more from this show but was very disappointed.
Won't recommend it to anyone.

What robot?

The only actually good thing was the character Meng Yan was so adorable. The story was too long and the ending was so quick like they ran out of mony to finish. In 5 minutes he leaves to protect her then just shows up, hug the end. The character Ke Ming was real annoying and a stalker who wouldn't go away. Too many details ignored like being in the rain but no getting wet having head surgery without losing any hair. Losing Yu Fei was was really sad but so quick with the cancer story. I liked the kid Xiao Di, one of the few bright spots. Overall the story could have better.

I've watched it until the latest episode 8, I've watched many dramas with the theme of a robot boyfriend. I think this drama is interesting because the main character Lin Mo Bai is a doctor (surgeon) and Jiang Meng Yan is a reporter. And basically Lin mo bai is a human who has become a robot, this doesn't feel completely weird.

I am happy because the identity of the male lead as as AI is hidden to everyone includes female lead, so the feelings of the female lead and male lead are more complex than they appear. Moreover, there is a second male lead that makes this story more interesting from the start. Realy currious how it the characters develop their feeling, and Li Mo Bai past live love also is kinda mysterious.

Watch if you like robot romances that are a bit like humans.

Don't watch. If you must... I suggest you to go YouTube search teaser of the 2nd lead Xiao Ke Ming and 1st lead actress Meng Yan clip. That will be the good memory that you should keep until the end of your life.
Worst graffic effect. Underwater swimming scene with a blower over the actress hairs without being damn or wet. Storm with splashing of water obviously poured by buckets of water. Watching and condemning every episodes.
Trust me... If you are a woman with self respect just don't watch or your grey hair will appear

about the series

i´ve watched just 27 episodes in this series because it is kind of sad that the man has died in his head but the father made a brain to let him alive. i think without his death would the story be more happier. i´ve cried just to see him infront of the girl just in a dead body. i don´t want to continue this series because it makes me kind of sad. i need series which is happy and cute. i returned to the reality because the series is more than sad as the reality. thanks to those who wrote the series but it may be make more sense if the story was different. i´m enough with the sad memories that´s why i´m don´t gonna continue this series, i´m just sad, who agrees with me?

Modern Pinocchio

Watching this is like watching AmericanDrama, there are so many long dialogue.

Conversation between Qiao Ke Ming and Jiang Meng Yan about Selfish and Ideal Love, thought shared between Lin Mo Bai as half robot and Yu Fei as absolute human whose facing death. Also emotional conversation between Lin Si Tan as the creator and Lin Mo Bai as the creation and son.

The story is good, but the pace is too slow, so many long dialogue scene and some weakness in scoring and plot. I think the scoring and sound effect are awkward, not fully support the scene. But the OST is good. The plot of the patients story, Qiao Ke Ming'grand mother and Link Corp. are having weak connections with the main love story, should be explore deeper with more strong emotional bound to build great Drama. I wish some day, there will be remake with better plot and scene.

The acting of each main role and parents are great. The emotional moments are brought so natural. The bold love and personality changed of Jiang Meng Yan, the struggle of Lin Mo Bai, the sincerity of Qiao Ke Ming, the parent's worried of Meng Yan's mother and Mo Bai's father, the sadness of dying amazing Wang Yu Fei... all is great. I love them all :)

With so many dialogues, audience who seek for simple entertaining drama may get boring and stop watching after some episodes. Dispite all of the weakness, audience who seek for the mystery of science and life, should enjoy emotional moments and quality dialogues watch until last episode 😊

Just saying... Scientific accuracy is highly questionable as of the current worldview. This is a complete romance drama with a ‘touch’ of robotic interference. This show makes me think that the writers wanted to make a compelling triangular love story but had to bring in the aspects of the ongoing trend of technology (robots...) and ended up in a half baked show which is inconsistent most of the time with the supposed ‘feelings’ of the ML which are simultaneously existent in one episode and just absent everywhere else.

As of episode 18, I can frankly say that the creators have achieved an objective of the cliched dumps and take-backs which lead to the shocking truths/revelations by episode 24. I am expecting a more involved plot of the ML actually using his supposed ‘super human abilities’ which god knows how he is able to simulate in a human body which has limitations on the maximum capacity that it can achieve, even if he has the AI brain (yeah... way too far fetched). But I can’t blame them because even movies these days show out of the world aspects which kinda seem waaaay waaaay out there.

Anyway, if the plot goes as it is now, it will be like any other robot inspired (completely romance oriented) drama. I hope that’s not the case. Even if it is, a cliched romance never hurt anyone. It’s a good thing to warn anyone who wants to watch this show, there can be quite a bit of SLS happening.
