This is my first review so please, don't be so hard on me. I decided to write a review because I just finished watching this movie and OMG, I didn't expected to like it sooo much. Perhaps, is one of the best movies I've seen released in 2018. Seriously, I highly recommend this movie!

The story was, honestly, simple but so damn real (especially the relationship between the siblings in the last half part of the movie) and pretty innovative (to me) since this is the first movie that I've seen that deals with that topic. This movie its hilarious (I couldn't stop laughing in the first half part of the movie) and at the same time "dramatic" because it narrates something extremely sad but so actual...

The actors that portrayed the siblings were just amazing. They did an awesome job, I really felt their emotions (I even cried like a baby watching the movie).

The music was pretty good. It really matched the situations and they even made a nod to Yaya's song "Make it happen" (actually, if I'm not wrong, Yaya is the featuring).

I would definitely rewatch this one day (probably forcing my friends to watch it).

Well, this movie is a eye-opener for me. As someone who have a sibling, we often fight then make up. You would say a typical sibling everyday fight. The movie have thought us not just about siblings but as yourself also. Jealousy is a had thing, sometimes this can lead something bad. As myself been there, I wish jealously wasn't my friend nor show up in the first place. Jealously lead me to a bad path.

This movie thought me many things as a human being. Siblings are not just your biological humans being, but they are your best friend, who love you!!

I recommend this movie!!!

Was able to catch the US release of this movie today.

Before watching the movie, I wouldn't watch the whole trailer all the way through, it gives a lot of the story way. The trailer also makes it seem like a goofy Nickkun vs Sunny movie, but it really isn't. The movie is more about family and the bond between siblings, even though on the outside they bicker a lot, deep down we always care about our siblings and try to do the best for them. Having a little brother of my own, the feels did get to me near the last quarter of the movie.

Only issue I had with the movie was a female coworker that worked with Sunny's (Chut) character in the movie. I don't know what her character's purpose was to add to the story. Otherwise, acting was great all around. Nickkun was ok, but maybe that's how his character was written. The siblings stole the show.

The comedy is really relatable and great. It isn't as jam packed of constant jokes like how the trailer made it seem, but they are spaced well throughout. The ending is also extremely realistic and I really enjoyed the movie. Whether you have a sibling or not, I recommend you give this movie a watch.

This film was the number one movie in Thailand this 2018. Starring some of the popular stars in Thailand indeed helped the film in gaining large number of admissions.

What is the film all about?

The movie talks about misunderstandings among siblings. So, this film was obviously a family oriented film and it contains a pinch of love story as well.

The story line was great but what made me love the movie were actually the casts :-) . The main female lead was played by Yaya from the TV series "Life Waves". I don't know what's the name of the main male lead but he looks familiar to me. I'm pretty sure that I've seen him in some of the Thai movies and TV series that I've watched. The other male lead was Nichkhun, a member of the Korean boy band 2PM and was dubbed as the "Prince of Thailand". I already saw his acting skills in the film "Seven Something" but I found him adorable in this film because he played as a half Thai - half Japanese boyfriend of Yaya. I don't know why but he got this charm that I can only see when he is playing a role of a Japanese like when he played as Terrence something (sorry I already forgot his name) in the live action film "Ouran High". I think, he's better off playing the role of a Japanese instead of a Thai. :-)

Honestly, the film was great. You will come to appreciate this film if you have a sibling whom you love to fight with from time to time.

YAYAYAYA!!! I'm soooooo happy that someone subbed this movie. I can say that the trailer and the movie has so much differences. I thought it'll be a battle between Sunny and Nickhun, for him to accept him as his sister's boyfriend, but yeh nah, it wasn't like that.

Story:
I'm going to try and shorten it without giving the whole movie, but I doubt that so if yalls wanna know the full story, hahah here it is, but basically growing up, Yaya was the favored child because she excels academically compares to her brother. She comes back from Japan and goes to work at a Japanese company where she meets Nickhun & they end up dating (in which the movie did not show how they ended up dating like, it literally just jumped in saying they are dating and not going to tell the brother). Sunny works for an advertising company (I would say, cause I swear they didn't say) and ends up having to take a project from the Japanese company. During a meeting, the company wasn't happy so told him to change his marketing idea which he then refused and talked about how he is going to sell the idea to a different company in which Nickhun overheard in the toilet. He told Sunny that he'll have to quit because it is the policy of the company but Sunny threatens Nickhun that he'll break Yaya and his relationship, with that he promised to keep it as a secret, but his boss heard and told him that he'll be transferred back to the "mother company" in Japan so he can learn the policy and basically starts from point zero again. Disheartened about this, Nickhun decides to propose to Yaya but she refused saying she can't leave everything behind. She writes a letter to the advertising company to demote her brother because of what he did to Nickhun, with that they were in an unstable siblings relationship. Anyways, Yaya & Nickhun ends up reconciling and he tells her that he is going to quit and find a new job in Thailand so he can stay with her, & she just say the typical, no you don't have to do this for me and stuff. So they decides to get marry for real; the day to the family gets to meet each other rolls around, & on her side is her brother which is representing her mum and dad. Her brother basically showed no manners and shit all and when he founds out Yaya was going to move to Japan after the marriage, he straight up said no, there isn't going to be a wedding. They go home and have a massive fight about siblings stuff and she tells him to leave cause she is going to sell the house. Sunny gets fired from his work because he was drinking, but finds another job quickly thanks to his sister but he doesn't know. On the day of her marriage he did not showed up (even though I swear they reconciled the night before but alrighto), instead he finds out that Yaya helped him with his new job. The next day their mother asked him where he went and hands him the house deed telling him his sister is giving the house to him, he then flips and say stupid shit, like are you happy that I'm a loser and shit, all the looked down insults someone can say basically. The day for her to leave to japan arrives and they still never reconciled. She lived happily and had two kids until her brother decides to go and visit her. The end. // okay, it is really a spoiler but the trailer did no justice alright so I had to tell. I actually love the storyline, because it did not entirely base it on love like relationship, but family love, siblings quarrels and how you can overcome it. Like I have siblings and I can actually relate, we'll quarrel over the most useless shit or say stuff to each other but never really meant it, but what can you do when you already said it. Like sorry isn't going to fix what you've already done, like the saying, you need to think before you speak because words hurt. I guess this movie will relate more to those who have siblings but I mean if you are the only child I guess it could relate to you too because maybe you always had wanted a sibling/s.

Acting/Cast:
The acting was superb, like idk, I always say they same stuff in my other reviews but like they really portrayed it really well.

Music:
I just friggen love the morlum instrumentals when Sunny takes them to the club. haha

Rewatch:
I'll definitely rewatch this when I have nothing to watch.

Overall:
It was a really great movie. Although I did find the second half boring I still watched it all, because it really relates to me.

This movie was just all around a wonderfully beautiful movie and everything was pieced together so well I was actually crushed when it ended. Sunny, Yaya and Nichkhun all in a movie was a genius idea and I love whoever decided it. Yaya is just a wonderful actress and I liked her chemistry with Nichkhun because they made me laugh and they were beautiful together. Sunny was a hilarious and horrible brother all around and the fact that him and Yaya played siblings made it even better because it was like they were a real family. It was eye opening because you’re gonna hate your sibling but you’re always going to love them no matter what too and that’s the truth. I laughed and cried and I’m happy I watched this all around.

Yaya in the shower using OWL instead of shower gel: LMAO

Now, Yaya is amazing. I knew Sunny Suwanmethanont was amazing all along but with Yaya, it was not before 'Leh Lub Salub Rarng' that she proven herself to me to be more than just a pretty face. Unfortunatelly, that Nichkhun or Munchkin or whatever his pet name was has NOT proven himself to be a better partner than Nadech The Gay Face (his character is supposed to be half-japanese... sadly it seems the gay side of japanese). Therefore, I wasn't enjoying the whatever romance-side and strictly focused myself on the brother-sister relationship & humour... Then of course, the emotional ending. Aww:) Sunny & Yaya were awesome, they touched my heart more than Nadech & Yaya ever did, LOL. And this was better than if they cast them as lovers. Stronger. So never mind Nichkhun, his was after all a side-role.

If you have a brother or sister, this movie is for you

Often times we take our family for granted. This is just a fact that I think most of us doesn't realize at times or we realize it when it's too late.

This movie is a perfect example of that. Since our family are the ones that are always there for us, sometimes when they show us they care it usually comes off as them nagging us too much or them belittling us. But in reality, of course they just want what is best for us.

I loved the relationship of Chut and Jane here as brother and sister. It reminded me of me and my brother. He usually doesn't care much unless you know, it's about boys. He's also like Chut in a way that he just usually go with his own flow. Not really caring much about his academics etc. Like Chut and Jane, there was a time when we had an argument and didn't really speak to each other for years. But when we made ammend with each other, it was like we got even closer than before.

I love how this movie was really realistic in portraying how siblings are in real life. It showed that just because you always fight with your sibling or don't get along with each other always mean that you don't love each other. In fact, most often than not you just show your care to each other in really subtle ways.

And lastly, what I really loved about this drama and the reason why I watched it was because of Nichkhun <3 Too bad his screentime was not as much as I thought it would be. But anyways, love this movie!

The Brother is trash

chut did not have a redemption arc, was consistently a bad brother through out the movie and did not have to grovel at all cause the sister jane forgave him as soon as he finally showed up and was always ready to forgive him for all the awful things he did to her and to moji as well.
he literally did not even do one nice thing since childhood for his sister and made her life super difficult and always without fail disappointed her so much that I wanted to scold her for still having hopes on him.
she was always there for him but he was NEVER ONCE there for her. like after a series of disappointments from him jane's ONE request was just not get drunk off his ass and show up for her wedding where after she was going to give a speech about how much he means to her but nooooo he can't even do that because he finds out that his sister secretly helped him get a job after he was fired from his previous job which by the was was completely his fault cause he was super unprofessional and lost a major client for his company(he insulted the client company a lot cause they didn't like his pitch, then when he got caught by moji who is one of the people incharge there he blackmails him to keep his mouth shut or else he is going to make his sister break up with him but gets caught anyway which leads to moji's transfer back to japan and him getting taken off the the pitch) and was secretly drinking in the office.so he kept feeling sorry for himself and got drunk and missed it.
I was waiting for flashbacks or something to show us that he was secretly helping and protecting her but that never came and instead we got more flashbacks of how the sister was always supporting and protecting him when he thought she was making his life difficult, which just cemented the fact that the chut has a massive inferiority complex.
her life would have been sooooo much easier and better if he wasn't there.
the only reason to watch this movie would be for jane and moji cause love story was cute and he was the perfect boyfriend and does not deserve a brother in law like chut he never even apologized to him for treating him like shit but then again he never even apologized to his sister properly so want can i expect , jane she did not deserve a brother like him. keep in mind that the stuff i mentioned here are not even half the awful stuff he did to them.
if it wasn't for the brother i probably would've given it a 8 or a 9

I have finally found the time to review this Film, since i watched it a week ago! "Brother of the Year" from 2018 starring Sunny Suwanmetanon, Urassaya Sperbund and Nich Khun Horvejkul is a heartwarming comedy mixed with romance. Its color-ful and rich...and it gives out excellent directing and acting. There is sadly not that many movies today at all that presents the relationship between siblings...the connection you actually never can take away. Its with you until you die. You can lose a friend, you can break up with your boyfriend and you can divorce your husband...but a sibling is for life whether you like it or not. Yaya has wonderful chemistry with everyone she acts with, and her collaboration with Sunny is remarkable, as their characters Jane and Chut are siblings who fight and considers each other rivals, while secretly looks upon each other. Their connection is in that they know each other to the core, and aren`t afraid to take off their masks to show the naked pain in having to deny each other the support they want to give due to pride and bitterness.

This movie made me laugh my tears off and laugh my ass off. I loved every minute of it, and i consider Yaya and Sunny the true stars of this movie. Their portrayal as the siblings Jane and Chut has everything you would dream of, and me having a brother i also would like to kill sometimes (kiddin about the killin, but he does drive me mad) i actually could symphatize with Jane. You can also hear Yaya talk japanese many times, and watch her with a big pregnant belly! Go For It Yaya!
