A Journey to Meet Love (2019)

I unexpectedly stumbled upon this drama on YouTube and I became hooked right after the first episode. It’s a fun drama about a group of young people traveling as they encounter several situations along the way due to the female lead(saying more would give away the plot). All the actors do a good job and the story balances romance, comedy and action along with a dash of mystery. The whole concept of the drama makes you feel like you are part of the group on their journey and that really gives the drama an overall soothing and fresh vibe. Also, Samuel sang one of the songs in the ost, which is extremely good and fits in well with the feel of this drama. I’d say to give this a go as it’s a well rounded drama which is worth watching.

I love the Xiao Tian's character very much (just my type LOL)
Anyway I honestly didn't expect to enjoy it. I've read the comments and some said that it was good but was kind of put out since they said that there was no kissing scenes. As an avid fan of romance, I was skeptical. So I tried it and said that if it doesn't get interesting until episode 20 then I'll drop it but moving pass the line, I just couldn't stop myself from watching episode after episode. I have watched every episode and could concur that there was definitely no romantic kiss on this one. They did have the "bloody kiss" (watch it to understand) but I don't think that basically counts.
The love story was definitely sweet and romantic but to warn you, don't expected very romantic scenes. I kind of respected and at the same time resented the writers and director for that. Would it hurt to like put more romance in to it?

Another reason for my skepticism was the number of the episodes. I think by far this is the longest one that I have watched (forgot the number of episodes on other dramas) but I guess I learned my lesson, not to judge a drama by the numbers LOL.

To rate this one, I'd say 8/10. Was hoping for a better ending but I guess it was good enough. The ending kind of insinuated that there might be MIGHT be a sequel since it was in some way an open ending not technically an epilogue.

Watch this originally for my 2022 Alphabet Drama / Movie Challenge, but in the end letter (A) filled with another drama. Hohoho... But however this drama got me quite hooked so I've decided to continue watch it until the end...

This drama actually quite good, but the problem is this drama has too many story on hand. I more prefer if they more focus on one story. I mean like they have the story about the travelling and also the problem with the painting and the drug trafficker that maybe make the story more appealing, but in my opinion make it become too many story to tell.

This drama really attrack us with the scenery of china. Along their way we can see how beautiful China scenery, food and also the culture. Make me really want to visit China again and travel by backpacking....

I also really like how they develop the feeling between the couple. Jin Xiao Tian (XT) & Li Xin Yue (XY) building their trust with each other. Although at first really frustated with how stupid Sheng Xia (SX) toward Chu Zhi Han (ZH), but I really glad how in the end ZH finally can see how 'stupid' SX to him & decided to reply SX feelings.

This drama also not lack with problem.
- How stupid XY when she decided to bring Chu Hong Fei to court to accuse him acknowledge her dad's painting. Hello... XY don't have any proof but yet XY already so hasty to uphold justice to her dad... No wonder she lose the first time right...
- The problem with Hu Zhi Hui (ZH) & Ouyang seem so weird at first, but yeah finally everything explained in the end. But still how fast actually ZH & Ouyang trust XT also one big question mark
- The stupid of Ouyang. Usually when you are a big boss in the drug member, you have someone you trust. But here Ouyang seems to have no one as his right hand man. Like ZH or the other man, he seems have no trust in them. So that's why no wonder in the end he meet his end like that.
- The police forces that's seem easy to corporate. Haha... This is maybe just me watch too many police drama. But usually every police force at every city like all in the hand of Feng captain. He just need to pick up the phone to tell what XT's problem & like that everyone seem eager to help XT.

Overall this one good drama to watch. Just prepare urself for the long ride. Haha...

I came here after watching Rattan and wanted to watch more of Sally Jing work. I must say this show is definitely worth the watch. It has a nice story and keeps you curious about what is about to happen. It has many beautiful scenery in this drama as half of the show they are cruising in a housing van which is interesting to watch as they travel from shanghai to shangri la.

The main leads definitely has good chemistry however if you are expecting a lot of romance then you will be disappointed. I must say that they are too stingy with the romance. There isn't even a single kiss scene which is regretful. I am not someone that like to watch drama with a lot of kiss scene and i am also fine with romance show without any kiss scene. However due to the fact that there is too few romance scene i am at least craving for a beautiful and romantic kiss scene which never happen. LOL

conclusion: i don't regret watching this show because the story makes up for the lack of romance. However it might get a bit draggy and suffering to watch for a handful of episode when the male leads had no choice but to leave the group to engage in his undercover mission. Push through those episode and you will be fine. Your friendly fast forward button can save you from it. Lastly i am quite satisfied with the ending tho it could be better.

detective genre with great chemistry

I agree that the series don't have any physical intimacy scenes but the chemistry between the leads is great with their acting. Before starting the series I personally felt to drop after 10 episodes if it was boring but i couldn't stop myself from completing it and it was more interesting.
Those who like detective genre can go for this drama without a second thought.
Coming to story its just very simple hero being undercover agent need to catch the villain in which heroine is involved and he approaches her and in meantime they not knowingly fall in love with each other and care about each other and finally reaches their goal.
Coming to ROMANCE as i said their is no intimacy but little fights between them , care between them and pain when apart from each other is neatly shown. Not just they both but the second lead love story is also very sweet with many complications and finally together. Along with that their was comedy which was enjoyable.
Coming to DETECTIVE genre the story is known yet the scenes are very interesting. During their travel we will be on toes about what happens next. Later its totally hero who shifts sides from one to other makes us curious to know his plan.
Drawback : suspense is missing we will already know what is the basic plot so not much thrilling.
I personally felt at least in last episode the hero should have proposed her but not done.
after 30 episode (completing the trip) their was not much story but was just rotating around hero and his tricks to catch criminals which was a bit of drag to the story.

totally the show was great to watch but if you are looking for complete romantic you can try once and for detective you can surely go for it.

First things first, this drama is overall a good drama, I'm not going to lie. But I decided to put this show on the back burner for a while because I've seen plenty of drama's with a lot of episodes, but I really have to settle down in order to watch them. The chemistry between Chen Xiao and Jian Tian was impeccable and amazing and the sparks were so intense they might as well have had fireworks surrounding them consistently. The only downfall of it all, was it took 30 episodes for them to realize their feelings and then they had no actual kisses, barely any physical contact and there was a moment for 10 episodes where they were non existence for scenes, FOR 10 EPISODES. I liked the whole concept of the journey, I also liked the team and throwing in Tina and her grandma was cool along with the aunt so that wasn't bad but the downfall of the team is that Zhi Han ruined my life for more than half of the show, his acting was not great and overall the guy sucked, his character kept trying to pursue Xin Yue, he was obsessed with the concept that they were meant to be but THEY WERE NOT and even when he found out the drama between his family he wouldn't stop, like go away my dude. , our main girl, who was bad ass! but I adored Xin Yue so much, along with Xiao Tian, I liked the roll of everyone basically though, like they all played their parts. And overall the show was good, the acting was not bad at all, the story line was good, even though it was long, it was addicting, every time you watched an episode, you gradually rolled into the next one and the OST is wonderful at that. So overall, not a bad show at all. Worth the watch.

Too long ! To watch only for the discovery of regions and cultures

PLOT: van trip of a group of 5 young people, from Shanghai to Shangri-La. Everyone has their reasons to go on this journey: FL "thief of 1 painting" following in the footsteps of her painter lost father, ML undercover anti-drug cop, 1 FL2 streamer, an ML2 wanting to launch his travel application, and his assistant (the more or less comical character). But mishaps and dangers multiply on the road.

PROS:
+ very good actors. I really like CL and especially Chen Xiao, remarkable as usual.
+ excellent OST
+ Good highlighting of certain Chinese regions. It's almost a tourist brochure :)

CONS:
- complex, even confusing story, with so many twists that you have to be an idiot to think that they are only coincidences.
- Police not very credible, even undercover.
- Story that drags on: 52 episodes on this, it's WAY too many! The CL only declares their feelings in episode 31!! But we are not entitled to any kisses or skinship. Nada!!
- The FL and the ML separated for 10 episodes continuing their quest each on their own, it's overkill ! The CL is only reconciled in episode 47...
- some misunderstandings could be resolved in 1 sentence... Why drag it out?
- excessive use of flashbacks (all the time, without them adding anything).

=> The 2nd half, I was able to finish only thanks to the FF Button!

PLOT : voyage en van d'un groupe de 5 jeunes, de Shanghai à Shangri-La. Chacun a ses raisons pour participer à ce voyage : FL "voleuse d'1 tableau" sur les traces de son père peintre DCD, ML flic anti-drogue sous couverture, 1 FL2 streameuse, un ML2 voulant lancer son application de voyage et son assistant (le +/- comique). Mais les mésaventures et dangers se multiplient sur la route.

PROS:
+ de très bons acteurs. J'aime beaucoup le CL et particulièrement Chen Xiao, remarquable.
+ OST excellentes
+ Bonne mise en valeur de certaines régions chinoises. C'est presque un dépliant touristique :)

CONS:
- story complexe voire confuse, avec tellement de twists qu'il faut être idiot pour penser que ce sont des coïncidences.
- Police pas très crédible, même sous couverture.
- Story qui traîne en longueur : 52 épisodes là-dessus, c'est BEAUCOUP trop ! Le CL ne se déclare ses sentiments que dans l'épisode 31 !! Mais on n'a droit à aucun kiss, ni skinship. Nada !!
- La FL et le ML séparés pendant 10 épisodes (32-42) poursuivant leur quête chacun de leur côté, c'est abusif ! Le CL ne se réconcilie que dans l'épisode 47...
- certains quiproquos pourraient être dissipés en 1 phrase... Pourquoi faire traîner ?
- usage abusif des flash-backs (tout le temps, sans qu'ils n'apportent quoique ce soit).

=> Supportable uniquement en FF Button !
