To start off with - I don't know why this drama is categorized as a Romance drama on DramaWiki - there's very little to none in this drama. That aside, the drama was good without it. From the beginning I wasn't sure how I was going to like this drama, it's not that the story was boring, but it is a little slow in the beginning. What kept me going farther on is the mystery. This drama was more of a mystery/suspense/drama. It had me wondering what was going to happen next. Almost all of the characters gave me mixed feelings, at times I wasn't sure how I should feel about them. Especially Kim In Sook. As a main lead she's hard to understand and it's hard to like her because of that. Each episode made me wonder who exactly she was, what had happened to her to make her the person she became. Ji Hoon's character was one of the few characters I found myself liking from the beginning.

The acting was great! It was really good! I started watching this drama because Ji Sung is one of the main actors (Ji Hoon). After seeing him act in Protect The Boss I wanted to try another one of his dramas. To see him go from a more comedic role to something serious just proves he's a great actor. If you're a fan of his, this drama won't disappoint you when it comes to him. The main girl, Yum Jung Ah, did a really good job with her character. The other actors were great, as well.

The music fit the drama. There were a few songs, none of which stood out to me though. The instrumental part was good, the ending of each episode when the song plays made it out to be even more intense - and to see what happens next.

My rewatch value is low because although I found this to be a good drama, it's not something that became a favorite or something I'd want to rewatch more than once.

Overall - I think this drama is worth watching. If you're in the mood for something at a different pace aside from romantic comedies and such, this is a good drama to watch.

After watching Ji Sung in 'Protect the boss', I discovered this other drama where he has the leading role. I comfirmed that his acting was excellent as well and keep me interested to the end hooked by the intringuing plot. I found many good things about this drama, as the outstanding casting, the mistery about family secrets and melodramatic scenes. But I cannot score it higher because is lacking in other aspects such a too complicated dialogues sometimes difficult to follow if you are not very keen in the business topic. Romance, although is intertwined with the story is not as relevant as I think it should be. Even if the argument is quite well done, it loses strengh by the long and no ending sequences of talking about shares, companies and politics.
Of course this is only a personal opinion and it doesn't mean that the drama isn't worthy to watch, at contrary, I recommend don't miss this interesting story full of treasons, confronted feelings and tragedy.

I recommend! an intense, fast-paced, revenge drama with a lot of scheming and backstabbing XD

Despite being the daughter-in-law of a chaebol family, Kim In Seok (Yeom Jung Ah) leads a sad life being tormented by her family members for 18 years. After her husband’s passing, she decides to fight back with the help of prosecutor Han Ji Hoon (Ji Sung), who was an orphan whom she adopted and nurtured into the man he is today. However, a mysterious incident leads Han Ji Hoon to become a murder suspect…

Royal Family is a revenge story full of treasons, confronted feelings, and satisfying twists & resolutions. It has a solid writing, fast-paced and superb acting. From the first episode, they showed enough plot happenings and questions that kept me hooked all the way. Was Han Ji hoon really a murderer? How is Kim In Sook going to have her revenge? Note that it’s a serious drama and the business long-talk were not always exciting to follow, but there were enough actions and plot twists to break the monotony. Also, despite hinting at noona romance, it was not the focus here.

As with many dramas, there is a mysterious past. With this one, it did not feel forced into the narrative; it made sense and helped to understand the character’s viewpoints and motivations. When it was revealed, I really enjoyed the emotional climaxes, it was beautifully acted. If it’s Ji Sung, performance is unquestionable. All the veteran actors also delivered a top-notch performance! Finally, the ending left me with mixed feelings, but it felt somewhat justified.

thanks for reading :)

So I'll be honest. I watched this because of the noona romance...which never seemed to actually happen. There was so much potential for it too. I was very disappointed that this left me with more questions than actual answers similar to the drama Marry him if you dare. I like when things are wrapped up nicely. Instead, I spent all day watching every single episode, rarely fast forwarding and ended up with nothing. After I watched episode 16 I tried to go to sleep but kept waking up because of how frustrated this show made me. This is not a romance, it only hints at it. the ending is up for your interpretation . The second female love interest starts off a strong character and then becomes one dimensional. I regret watching this and think that going forward that I will stay clear of melodramas. I felt the most sorry for the main female character, it seemed like no matter what she did she never quite found even a real moment of happiness.

This is the first KD I ever watched and it hooked me!!! The acting was great. I love the story. I admit that the ending left me a little upset, but I can understand why they ended it that way. It is beautiful and sad all at the same time and I love to feel that mix of emotions. I don't know if I would watch it again at this point, but it is definately a KD to watch. xoxo

Overall on the plus side, thanks to ML

In this drama I found some things excellent and some things I liked less.
For starters, the story is interesting. In addition to what happens in the current timeline of the drama, we also have mysteries from the past that are very interesting to uncover, especially since I liked ML from the first moment. Admittedly, I thought some of his later decisions were stupid, but I accepted them for the sake of the plot.
I like the music, I like how the threads related to the main character were led, the fact that the mysteries are explained gradually and sometimes it's really hard to guess something, but when the truth is discovered, it seems so obvious!
I have trouble accepting threads from the FL side. Even though everything is eventually explained and resolved, I still get the impression that many elements were deliberately magnified to give the character tragedy. From beginning to end I didn't understand FL, I couldn't make any connection with her or feel any sympathy towards her.
I tried to rewatch this drama yesterday, but the plots on FL's side were too heavy for me, so I only picked up a few scenes on ML's side.
My overall impressions are mixed, but I recommend this drama with a pure heart because a few scenes and solutions were really excellent and allowed me to ignore the worse moments. Ji Sung really is an actor who with his acting can distract from some shortcomings in the plot.

The obvious highlight of this drama is Ji Sung the man is just too good! The drama was planned to be 16 episodes but then got an extension of extra 2 episodes which made the last chunk of episodes just too messy. The writer didn't know in what direction to take and how to rearrange the events accordingly. The story and its pace were problematic, it's pretty monotonous after the cast was introduced in the first 2 episodes. Also, meh ending.
