Well, the story was good enough to become a top drama , it talked about the youngesters' problems and the importance of inner beauty and how we could encounter the nuts minded people in our life ,but honestly because of two main actors it didn't work , the others were good but the two firs lead roles played so amateurish that ruined the drama completely. The chemistry didn't work , their face expressions were horrible and They were not able to show the details of their characters and the true emotions at all. The lead man despite of his very handsome face , was not comfortable with his character and made it a robot instead of an introvert character . I watched him in The best hits and he was good there but here he couldn't do it honestly. The first actress should cover him with her experience but she was stuck in her role too . So the result was such a mess when we watch these two especially in the scenes they were together . I score 8 just because of the less cliche story and the other actors who played acceptable.

I love the storyline and I love Cha Eun Woo. I think everything he touches turns into gold. Since I am watching a drama date back in 2018 is why I gave a lower review. Not saying this drama deserved a better rating. The reason why is those who watched this drama should have learned how NOT to be a bully. This is 2022 and bullying still exists! I hate when these young adults and some grownups bully on looks, weight, education, and the color of one's skin. This is sad in 2022! I am glad this drama showed bullying. Thanking the writers and actors/actresses for bringing this storyline to life. Thank you!

FOR ALL THE HATERS OF MY ID IS GANGMAN BEAUTY, THIS IS AN OPEN LETTER

Okay first and foremost I rewatch this kdrama two times and it feels the same. I do not know why people put this like their worst kdrama. I suspect they don't even watch this yet they judge this. I want to point out some scenes that are just remarkable making this kdrama a good one.

First - the backstory of Kyung Seok ( Eunwoo's character) ' s mom and Mirae ( Soo Hyang's character): I literally cried that part because of the way she cheered up mirae when she was on her lowest point that makes her want to suicide.

Second - the character improvement of Soo Ah (Woo Ri's character) : this part is prolly my fave - I also myself went through this phase of being a pick me girl or what u call that - but soo ah at the end of the kdrama gives justice into her character . Which reminds me of this quote"it's better to be late than never"

Lastly - The mother's love *sobs* I love how their story went well and the reason why the mom of kyung seok sprays her perfume all over her body --

All over this is not your typical kdrama -- haters are just saying this is not good or whatsoever because they hate the fact that mirae had a surgery - so what people it's already 21st century let them be what they want to be

What a trash

what kind of romance drama is this, isn't it trash? from the start I thought it would be exciting to change my life for the better but it's still the same, I know FL was bullied and never felt love but why are you so stupid like you don't know the cruelty of the world even though you already felt the cruelty of the world before FL had the operation plastic. FL was too naive and didn't dare to refuse an invitation like at the beginning of episode 1 and felt sad when the guy who approached her rejected her. Aren't Korean dramas really bad lately? I don't know why Chinese dramas are more weighty and exciting than Korean stories like this. and fl's father was also too stupid when his child had plastic surgery he didn't accept it even though these stupid parents didn't know their child was suffering. stupid parents were just selfish. this show ruin my mood give it 1.

This a very slow paced drama. And by slow paced, I mean, extremely slow paced! This drama is not for everyone. It seemed too boring for me cuz I prefer fast paced dramas with numerous plot twists. But they gave a lot of awareness about the beauty standards that were in effect and how it impacted people's lives. I also felt that males were highly villainized in this story as no males except the male main lead had a genuinely nice character. The rest of it was great but it's unfortunately not my kind of drama.

my opinion on my id is gangnam beauty

I feel like this kdrama has a lot of Stero types, and her getting liked just because she got plastic surgery and that is sending a really horrible message out to people that think their not beautiful, because the main fl didn’t think she was pretty and that’s why she got plastic surgery . And for some reason the ml just pissed me off because of how pick me boy he was, and I don’t think the other “mean” girl was actually mean just misunderstood and unhappy with her life and the males in this kdrama were just horrible and how she ranked everyone’s beauty very much stereotype

What A Waste of Time.

Umm ... wow! That's really all I can say to start this review off because there's just so much to talk about. To start things off, I will say there's no logical explanation for why this show had a college setting. Absolutely none. Granted, I prefer college-aged characters because it's more interesting in my opinion. However, the things these characters talked about and the things they did felt more juvenile. It didn't fit with the vibe of college students. Sure, college students are young and wild but they're not this juvenile. Maybe it's a cultural thing but most college students don't care that much about their looks. Here, in the States, most college students don't care enough about their appearance to constantly talk about who and what is good-looking 24/7. There are far more pressing matters to worry about rather than nitpicking someone's looks. These characters spent an unnecessarily unusual time discussing people's appearance, which I understand. That's the whole point of the show, right? Yeah, but that gets old.

I want to talk about the thing that truly made me drop this show. Rapey McRaperson. I don't know the character's name but I know he's the Little Guy. Now, Little Guy (or Mr. McRaperson) had way more screen time than he deserved. I don't understand why he was allowed to be apart of the primary friend group of the main characters. In the very first episode, we watched this man attempt to sexually assault and coerce the main female lead by trying to trap her in a room alone with him before the male lead saved the day. Not just that, but he continued being an absolute creeper. He never stopped being a creeper. I didn't make it past the second episode, so I don't know if he ever got better or if he finally received his comeuppance but I would rather not deal with him. Now, I know you're wondering - why would you drop this show for a side character that's awful but is still very much a side character? The unfortunate part about this is that Little Guy isn't the only character in this show that gave me strange, sexual assault-y, rape-y -like vibes. Even some of the women in this show were giving me these strange vibes that told me they clearly don't understand the word "no." There was this one woman who hit on the male lead a few times, even though he'd already told her that he wasn't interested. He was very direct about it, and yet .. she didn't get the memo. What the fuck is that about?

Now, Soo Ah is interesting but I've never been the type of person to stay and watch a show for the antagonist/villain. It just doesn't make any sense to me to do so. While she is interesting, she is awful and I honestly didn't like her. I had second thoughts about possibly sticking around to watch her manipulate these awful guys in the show, but she intentionally lied to Rapey McRaperson, which caused him to lash out at the female lead and I bounced! That was it for me. I didn't want to have to deal with situations like that happening over and over again for the remainder of this show because I get the feeling that would be a running theme. I already saw the forest for the trees.

It's finally time to talk about our lovely main couple, yeah? The female lead in this show was awful. Just completely and utterly awful. She's not awful in the sense that her character does awful and irredeemable things. She's awful in the sense that she's absolutely dull. There's nothing compelling or interesting about her. She has no personality. She doesn't have anything that makes her more dynamic than the other characters and that's troubling because she's the fucking lead. Sure, she got plastic surgery to deal with her self-esteem woes but it clearly didn't help because she's still the same pathetic person she was before. One of my biggest pet peeves is watching a show with a promising story go down the drain because they write a weak, pitiful female lead. I don't even care enough to write her name here because I don't even remember it honestly. Her love interest is .. alright? He was more interesting than her, but that's not saying much because it's pretty easy to be more compelling than she was. I don't have much to say about the actor because I watched True Beauty and he played the exact same character in that show too, so ...

Which brings me to my final point - if you want to watch a show that has a similar concept to this, just watch True Beauty. It's essentially the same plot and it even has some of the same actors in it. I kid you not, The male lead in this show is the male lead in that one, plus a couple of the other actors. (ETA: Also, the male lead in BOTH shows is the only person who knew and saw the female lead before she undergoes her great "transformation," which speaks volumes about the lack of creativity and originality within this market of drama.) The only difference is that the female lead/actress in True Beauty is actually a lot more animated and interesting. You would enjoy watching her on-screen a lot more. Now, don't get me wrong. I hated True Beauty and I dropped that one too, but I hate TB a LOT less than I hate this show. Not only is it slow and there's copious amounts of sexual harassment, but the female lead isn't enough to make you stick around. Which defeats the purpose of watching the show because no one goes out of their way to watch a show for the supporting characters, and I'm definitely not one to continue on with a show knowing that I have to skip through the entire main plot just to get to the interesting parts that don't include the primary cast.

Would I recommend this show? No. Did I enjoy it? Also, no. Don't waste your time. Pass on this one and find something better.

I dropped this after an episode or two, so this is less of a review and more of a "why I dropped this" type of commentary.

Right off the bat his drama fell into several of my all time most disliked tropes, which is the main reason I didn't bother continuing eventhough I'm really interested in topics of plastic surgery and beauty and I was curious to see Cha Eun Woo act.
I'll number this for your convenience:

1) First of all, the main character was painfully shy and insecure. She could barely talk to her classmates, eventhough they were nothing but encouraging and appreciative of her (so far at least). That's because the main character, Kang Mirae, had been bullied throughout middle and high school because of her looks. So far so good, that makes sense. What doesn't make sense was that she, after a bit of initial hesitation has no problem putting on a dance show in front of her newly minted peers during uni orientation? She was selected as the representative of her group in a talent show and (after a pep talk from her best friend over the phone) just went up there and bodied that assignment. Like??? Just a second ago she could barely look the others in her group in the face. This dance sequence came so out of nowhere for me that I thought it was a dream sequence at first, á la "if I was brave enough this is how I'd impress them..." but it wasn't. It actually happened and then she went back to being shy and insecure. Very jarring.

2) Secondly, there was a lot of talk about beauty and judginess surrounding beauty, esp since Kang Mirae (the MC) has had plastic surgery herself between finishing high school and starting university. She is obsessed with looks and analyzes other women's faces and gives them grades in her head. I thought this was really interesting, it makes a lot of sense for her character, since she is very insecure. What I thought was really over the top was that all her new peers at uni seemed to be just as obsessed with beauty as her. I felt like every second sentence in this show was either "You're so pretty!" or "I'm not pretty enough." or "Have you seen that pretty girl over there?" It just was a bit much for me. I know that SK is a bit more straight forward about expressing their opinion on other ppl's looks, but to me it felt excessive and I was very quickly annoyed by this.

3) Bullying. That's a personal thing, but I just don't really like seeing people get bullied. I know it's a common thing for children and teens to experience and there's nothing wrong with depicting that experience in fiction. I personally just don't like seeing it, bc the bullying is always the same and the characters always react in the same way to it. Directors/writers rarely use this plot point to tell anything unique or interesting. It was the same here.

That's it!

I dropped this drama after watching a few episodes because the pace is soooooo freaking slow and characters so one-dimensional. The acting is also stiff. I also checked the kissing scenes and blah they're like mosquito bites. ...if it's romance, I'm expecting the kisses to be good or at the very least, decent. I don't expect any good kissing scenes like from Healer or any dramas that focus on thriller or political themes....but if a drama is touting itself to be a romance, decent kisses are a must. Save yourself the misery or take the risk. I feel this drama is overhyped and its popularity questionable. If the only reason why this drama got a high rating and became popular is because it is a social commentary on the standards of beauty and the plastic surgery industry and trying to give a message that girls need self esteem ...that beauty is in the inside....yada yada yada..... then I don't need to watch a Boring drama just to know that.
