Powerful Acting backed up with a strong storyline & distiguished music! What more do you want?

Wow! one of the best medical drama ever!
A drama can be awesome when there is Powerful Acting along with a strong storyline & melodious music. This is that drama.
Story is intense, intriguing and gripping. It is based on the theme as the title suggests - Two lives one heart. Two patients struggle for one heart. Each doctor would make different decision which affects the 2 lives. The cases are interesting.

The story mainly tells about the 2 doctors and their choices. Choi seok han went through painful past because of a wrong decision he took with his daughter. So he changes and wants to have more power to stop the discrimination. To get that he goes on wrong path.
Park tae soo is Choi seok han's prodigy. Tae soo lost his mother because of Choi seok han but he never hold it against him. He still makes his decisions in the best of patients. So the drama shows us how different people react to the pain given to them.

Uhm Ki Joon is best as always. Choi seok han's pain, conflicts, his internal stuggle everything was just made for Uhm Ki Joon only. No one could have played it better. Choi seok han was a genius doctor, a warm person and best mentor. But a wrong choice in desperate times took him on wrong path which he was well aware of. He eventually crosses that difficult time and comes to his own self.
This is my first time watching Go soo. But man!! he stole my heart as Dr. Park tae soo!! Tae soo is a strong person and gentle person at the same time. He goes beyond his duties as a doctor. His only motto is - "JUST SAVE THE PATIENT NO MATTER WHAT!" His emotions, ideals, caring personality is well portrayed by Go soo. You root for him, cry with him, smile with him, care along with him.
Seo Ji Hye as Yoon Soo Yeon was good, though they should have give more depth to the character. Her screen time was less and in some episodes she felt like side character.
Choi Dae Hoon should be mentioned for his acting as Koo Dong Joon. He is such cutie character and the development of his character is worth watchable. His relation with his father as well as with Tae soo is great.

Other characters are good too. I loved The interactions between each characters.

Music is one of the key point of this drama. Without wonderful tones and background score, this drama would have been average. But Music is very melodious and gives goosebumps in many scenarios.

I guess they cut short the episodes, but rather than dragging to 20 Episodes with no story, this drama ended quite well with just 16 episodes.
Rewatch is possible if you fell in love with the characters. I certainly did.

who are we to decide how valuable that one day is for the patient and their family.....

-Two lives, one heart ...that’s the most perfect title for the drama for every decision affects two patients...and every doctor will have to make a decision: who should you choose ?... Can those decisions be emotionally influenced ?... Is revenge more important than life? you’ll find all the answers you are looking for in the drama.
The drama sheds light on corruption and moral dilemmas. As someone who enjoys watching medical dramas, every now and then I randomly pick a medical drama….and I guess most of you might agree that medical k-dramas have a different vibe of their own.

As for when we talk about this show I’d first of all mention that I found it slow-paced ...as a 2x speed binge-watcher I can tell you I’d have given up on 2nd/3rd ep if not for 2x ….that being said don’t think that I did not enjoy the show ….I have a different love for med dramas that keeps me close to them and this show does quite well in med aspect ….cuz if it did not there was no way I was going to watch a slow-paced drama centered around corruption and politics.
The characters here will drag you in their dilemma ...for everyone has a story …a different angle to the same set of happenings …which is quite interesting to watch
Before I talk about the leads in the drama I’d like to mention that the side characters are likable ...with their limited screen time they create really beautiful moments that have you waiting for their appearance ….

Back to lead characters:
Choi Seok Han: he’ll literally drive you crazy ...in a good way ...every time he makes a decision you’ll be like ….wait what ..no there’s something more ...there has to be a reason ...that can’t be it...you’ll want to but you won’t be able to hate him.
Park Tae Soo: You can call him our typical drama land doctor ...for he’s that - save the patient no matter what you get yourself into type doctor ...his character might sound like you know what he’s gonna do in the show...and that’s true ...you do know what he’s gonna do in the drama ...for maybe I’d have liked him more if there were more shades and layers in his character….not to mention what was given was good as well.
Yoon Soo Yeon: Was she the main character? ...at times she felt like a side character ...for her story had so much to explore and I was looking forward to her character… I don’t know if it’s the writer or the actor to blame ….but I am disappointed

The story is intriguing and gripping ...the medical and political aspects are done well and the overall vibe of the drama is really good.
All in all the drama is worth watching ...even after me having stated so many flaws if you ask me I am happy that I gave it a try ...see it more like a med drama than a political plot ….try to think in character’s shoes ...and I am sure you’ll enjoy watching.

Worth a watch definitely

No one can beat korea when it comes to medical drama and heart surgeons does the job best. The story revolves around Doctor Park Tae so and his mentor Choi han. Park tae soo is willing to put everything on the line for his patients, doesn't go by the so called rules and norms. He looks up to his senior Choi and adores him as he had saved his mother. Things however turn different due to the choices made by the two. The story is intriguing. Acting is brilliant and the actions going on in the operation theatre really makes it thrilling to watch!!

Moral dilemma's in a medical background

There is plenty of medical jargon and surgeries for those that love them, but they are the background music in this story about corruption and moral dilemma's. The central question is the purity of health care: is the medical practice as it should exist for the patient's benefit still attainable in this day and age or do we allow ulterior motives like sustainability of medical care, fear of malpractice suits and skill improvement weigh in on a decision to treat a patient.

The main male lead (Uhm Ki Joon) is the one that takes ulterior motives very far, but from a perspective that everyone of us can understand. It makes you scream "no, stay on the straight and narrow" at every wrong turn he makes and your heart aches for him.

On the other end of the spectrum is Go Soo, who truly puts the patient front and centre and will try his best to rescue each and every one of them, using whatever means necessary and he'll fight people that abuse their power at the expense of the patient. It gets him in trouble with everyone and their mother and you can't help but root for him. You want him to be just a little bit more political, but then again, you have the example of where that leads right there with Uhm Ki Joon's character.

The female lead portrayed by Seo Ji Hye is closely related to Uhm Ki Joon's life changing experience and tries to navigate being a good doctor, being an aristocrat and being a survivor at the cost of someone else. Her acting is sub-par in the series, compared to the other strong performances, even though the story gives her a lot of depth. Her struggle was often met with a blank stare and a reading of lines without the right emotions.

Whereas Uhm Ki Joon has an honourable motive, Jeong Bo Seok is the absolute villain. They guy you want to fail, complete with fake smiles, people sucking up to him and a lot of repressed anger for being the lesser of two brothers. Excellently portrayed, because I'm reluctant to see more dramas with him in it - I ended up hating him to the core.

But the best of the series is probably the team spirit. The relations between the supporting cast and the leads and how people try to support each other. The comic relief provided by father and son Goo in the series is also very welcome.

What I think the story missed out on, was the final editing of the TV show they did a lot of interviews for. I was so curious if the chief made the final cut or not and if so for how many seconds. I truly expected a viewing of the episode in a room with all that participants and their reactions to how they were portrayed. It's cheese they robbed me of, so that's the minus points on the writing.

All in all, the series is underrated and probably for people allergic to medical drama's, it's a tough sell as there definitely is enough medical stuff to trigger hives. But if you can get past that, it's a drama that tugs at your heart and makes you think about what's right and what's doable.

Good enough...

Weak start, weak ending, decent middle part. I never wanted a protagonist to turn into an antagonist more than the lead of this drama Park Tae Soo. The only interesting part was the middle one where they had to make a decision, the rest is weak throughout and very similar to any other medical drama. Overall, it's an okay medical drama 6/10.

This is a great mix of thriller with melodrama I absolutely couldn’t stop watching. The main leads did a great job of portraying their characters and especially Go Soo was so handsome and the guy can act! Uhm Ki Joon I really enjoyed his performance too. It's very fast paced and sure not that scientifically accurate but that's not the reason you watch Asian drama. All in all I liked the way the characters developed and the twists and turns were intriguing for sure. What I love about korean medical drama is they touch on topics that US shows don't bother talking about. For instance the lack of empathy in medical professionals that exist everywhere in the world. Or how it feels to give up on a person's life because you don't have money. This show is the same. It talks about things that are too depressing because they're reality for many people out there.
