Innovative plot but the weak and illogical storyline will leave you perplexed.
Girl from nowhere features the manifestation or appearance of a mystical divine or superhuman being, named Nanno, whose aim was to target individuals and expose the evilness and hypocrisy of human beings, given the authority to judge and punish the wrongdoers. Nanno, which means Karma in Thai, is no different from Satan; a fallen angel who has lost hope in humanity. Given that right to judge and punish wrongdoers, the immortal is a self-proclaimed righteous that finds joy in proving and justifying her pessimism for human nature. She schemes, tempts and leads her targets into committing the worst aspect of crimes she believes will eventually happen anyway. This elucidates her often misjudgement as well as the unlawful, unethical, and unjustifiable punishment of the wrongdoers. Nanno isn't the angel portrayed in the first few episodes, albeit her soft spot for the boy who was willing to sacrifice his life for her. The scriptwriter tries to create that audience interest in the introduction by utilising a narrator and dialogue to create an emotional attachment to the protagonist before revealing her unacceptable behaviour in the later episodes. Her behaviour in the later episodes is going to leave you perplexed. Is she here to actually punish the wrongdoers and bring justice? Or is she here to create chaos by adding oil to fire? Audiences that decide to give Nanno's unacceptable behaviour a benefit of the doubt will, mostly, at this point drop the series with confusion. Because you will never be able to understand the purpose of her existence until towards the end of season 2, where they introduce Yuri. Yuri's existence is going to challenge Nanno's beliefs, judgement and her ways of punishing those in the wrong, causing her to doubt herself and losing her resilience. You need to infer and accept that Nanno is not actually a nice person from the beginning before they actually reveal it towards the end. Otherwise, you are going to dislike and reject her to the point of dropping and missing out on the main point of the series.Was this review helpful to you?

Dark fictional stories based on scary aspects of human personality.
I don't like writing reviews when I've missed the early window for the show but 36 reviews is too little enthusiasm for Girl from Nowhere. There are some points about this which I didn't find mentioned anywhere so all things considered I decided to review it.The first point which stood out to me after watching four episodes of Girl from Nowhere is that the series isn't about simply punishing the wrong-doers. It's not to inflict pain on the wrong-doer. It's not to right the wrongs—the crimes shown here are too grave and far-gone to be corrected. It's about making the wrong-doer realise what they did wrong, the gravity of their actions, and that is the hardest route to 'correct' wrongs.
The series it leaves no room–absolutely none–for redemption of the villains. It starts out with really small situations—a yoga appointment, flirting boys, jealousy, rich kids being total snobs—seemingly harmless right? No. Each story has been crafted carefully with the post escalating slowly, building trepidation and curiosity.
Even though Nanno can be considered the main lead here, she is actually an instrument in the series. She is the one who ushers the plot along. Would a teacher assaulting students get imprisoned generally? No. Nanno puts the correct pieces in so that the happen on their own accord. Is Nanno making these things happen? No. These things are happening right now, at this moment at multiple places around the globe, without Nanno's help. In these series, everything happens around Nanno but it somehow doesn't. A lot of the time Nanno is hovering in the background tapping away at the right buttons, leaving the characters to dig the deepest, darkest dungeon they can for themselves.
Point is that the presentation of the story is mind-blowing and that is I think what makes Girl from Nowhere stand out for me. It's not just a simple presentation of a crime and a subsequent lecture on society and it's packings. No, this is Nanno, a girl from nowhere, leading the narrative and pushing things to happen. Things that are truly happening to other people elsewhere.
The episodes don't conclude with a concrete closure on the story—we don't see Mr. Win in prison, but we do see him as a completely shaken man, a man with a prison term and a dead daughter. We don't see the five students in a juvie, but we do see them being haunted by Nanno and by their own deeds. We don't see Mew getting revealed in front of the world but we know that she is descending deeper into the hell she made for herself. The stories don't end completely but we can feel the impending room on these people, brought about by themselves.
The stories are all about actions and consequences. Every action will have a reaction and Nanno asks, “Are you ready for it?”
Apart from the storyline which keeps viewers on their toes, there's the whole thing about how wonderful Chicha is as an actress. The laugh, the head turns, the grace in her movements; these have left me fangirling over her constantly.

“Nanno is Nanno.”
The stories, directors, writers–everything in the series keeps changing in every episode–everyone except Nanno (and therefore Chicha). But don't make the mistake of thinking that the show revolves solely around her. The side characters are equally well done. The acting doesn't leave room for improvement, it really doesn't. They all delivered on everything—the deeply emotional sobs, the evil laugh, the happiness before the storm—Nanno in particular has this psychotic glint to all her actions.
Even though there was a separate crew working on each of the episodes, they meld together perfectly as an anthology. This show has been the perfect mixture of mystery and macabre.

Couldn't like it as much as I wanted to
Sounded really interesting and it was quite popular so I wanted to give it a try. Nanno is a really unique character that I've never seen in any other dramas so that was probably the reason I was so captivated. Some stories are amazing, and some arenot. One thing that bothered me is that we never got to see Nanno's backstory or anything. I know some people are fond of "Who is Nanno?" mystery and so was I, but I also don't like not knowing anything about Nanno at all. Some episodes are a little bizzare and aren't realistic at all. There is a lesson with every episodes but some of them could've been done better in proving the point. The music and acting of the main lead is very good. Rest is kinda mid. If I were to ever rewatch this, I'd probably skip some episodes cause non of them correspond to the last.

A very interesting drama. It was complicated to watch sometimes because it wasn’t a story, a scenario that follows in each episode. There is a scenario ofc but you have a different situation in each episodes. So if you like this type of series it’s perfect. The scenario is very interesting and some topics are discussed and some points, some scene are disputable, questionable . So you should watch it and make your own opinion about it. In my opinion the acting was very great. Sometimes it was also difficult to watch some scenes because i’m sensitivite a little bit. If you like revenge series i think you might enjoy watching it but as a person who usually like this type of series i was not happy or i was not smiling when i was watching the scenes bc for me it wasn’t the mood ig. (nor saying that it was bad i just didn’t have the same experience watching it than when u watch a typical revenge series bc it was not the same mood, ambiance yk) But i recommend it!Was this review helpful to you?

Most of the Thai dramas I watch are spicy melodramas. Every now and then, I find something I enjoy that makes an impression on me, such as Kluen Cheewit. I wouldn't list The Girl from Nowhere as one of my favorites, but this is definitely one of the lakorns I like because I feel that the over-the-top behavior of the characters actually works here. I don't think the stories are meant to be realistic but that they are supposed to show an exaggerated version of human depravity in extreme situations. Something about the atmosphere in these stories, along with the main character, reminded me of a horror manga by Junji Ito. I thought Nanno was very charismatic and that the actress playing her (Chicha Amatayakul) was very entertaining. She reminded me a little bit of the Joker or Harley Quinn, only that her character mostly toys with those who are in the side of wrong. I don't think she's meant to be a good character either, but maybe a chaotic neutral.
I also like how the cast of supporting characters, from Claudia Chakrabandhu (Thank You Teacher) to Teeradon Supapunpinyo (Pregnant), performed well to the point that I didn't mind when Nanno was offscreen. Another thing that worked in this type of drama is that each episode had a different story and sometimes one story would take up two or three episodes, so they didn't have to be watched in order. The whole experience for me was like watching a horror anthology comic come to life and I don't even like horror.
There were certain plot points which dragged some of the stories down a notch. I liked Wonderwall for instance, but I could easily find a solution to the problem which didn't involve one of the characters wishing everything away. Some episodes in the second season were also boring and repetitive. Overall, the first season seemed better than the second...although there were some good episodes in the latter, like Minnie and the Four Bodies. I don't mind the introduction of Yuri as a rival for Nanno in the second season but I got kind of annoyed that it had to end in a cliff hanger!
Another thing I dislike is the series' old-fashioned attitude towards cheating in relationships. I felt that the writing would often blame the women involved but put the guy-in-between (the one who actually cheated) on a pedestal. There were some situations, like in the BFF episode- where a guy would send flowers to two girls at the same time and in the same room (his girlfriend and the girl he was cheating with), but the story seemed to blame the women involved without questioning his behavior.
Other than that, I think this is one of the better lakorns. I feel pleasantly surprised that Thailand decided to make something like this because I feel that Japan ought to be the one doing it, given all the content they have in their manga to base it on.

The first episode was really engaging for me but I think it drag out as it goes. I like that per episode there is a different storyline. There are stories that is about 2 episodes long but eventually the stories are for me unique. Maybe because it is a Thai drama which is so different from what I would usually watch. It's nice but there are episodes that I don't like. Hoping to see the second season soon if I had the time.

Not For the Faint of Heart!
Here's the thing I want to mention about this drama, it's forcing you to see the world through its eyes. It's taking you the extremes of human depravity. I don't see a single hint of anyone condoning this kind of depraved behavior in the show. But, I can understand if people don't find it an easy Watch.However, I love how they've portrayed Social Issues, I love Nanno, and I love, love, love gorey thrillers, so this was AMAZING for me. It has a teeny teeny teeny tiny bit of romance. and that's just it. that's it. And, I love that.
Honestly, I'm here for this drama, because it did change my mind about a few things.
Anyway, watch it with caution, definitely not for those who are faint of heart or are scared of blood. But, if you like a strong, unwavering, and unemotional female lead as a narrator, you truly will love this!

GIRL FROM NOWHERE
The series was quite interesting and pretty surprising for me. (Here is my review!)In Season 1, we could see how Nanno was presented as a powerful and strong woman who had no flaws but falling into Season 2, you can notice the character had a lot of changes, this could be including her emotions following on the end episodes 7, 8, where you can clearly see Nanno had more than a straight face then she used to always have. I would also like to say, Season 1 was incredibly amazing. The acting and production was extremely good and they were the reasons why I wanted to carry on watching this series. Season 2 was a bit unexpected, especially when Yuri the new character joined in. At first, I thought Yuri would join forces with Nanno but I guess that was the opposite.
In Season 2, Yuri is presented as more of a harsh and fast/strong woman. Yuri tends to do things but she doesn't realise she's also causing pain to the innocents. I would like to say that in my opinion, I really hate her character. For example, in SEASON 2 EP 4, Nanno was trying to help Yuri but instead Yuri betrayed her and did things her own way. But turned out, Yuri's plan backfired and she was almost killed.
I would also like to add, notice how every mistake Yuri made, Nanno always had to fix it? For example, SEASON 2 EP 6, Yuri cornered all the teachers and forced them to write confession notes. This only led one of the students killing the teacher because he was frustrated. (New and Miss A). I think Yuri also forgot about the headteacher as well which is why the students had to obey the teachers at one point. But it all ended when the 4 Nanno's came in the school hall and ended it.
Now, I also don't want to say Yuri is the main villian, (even though she is lol)) but I would also like to add that Nanno was also being quite stupid as well, especially in Season 2 EP 7 when Nanno completely ruined Jane. Even Jane's question really hit Nanno, "Did you have to go that far?" Since then I'm pretty sure Nanno will have a huge personality development since she will finally understand how people actually feel, (mainly talking about Jane)
MY EXPECTATIONS AND PREDICTIONS FOR SEASON 3
So there's no doubt there will be Season 3, but there are a few things I would like to happen.
-Nanai might visit Nanno again with their child.
- TK (SEASON 1) and Nanno reunion.
- Jane's revenge on Nanno (maybe help by Yuri)
- Nanno actually collecting some emotions
- Nanno's past and how she got these immortal powers.
In conclusion to all of this, I would give a strong 9/10 with the both series. The main thing we need to point out is that both personalities of Nanno and Yuri are quite unique and different. Nanno tends to give karma to people who really deserves it while Yuri brings revenge into people with killing and trying to end and kill Nanno.

much an impression on me so I kinda put the
drama on hold but I was still determined to
continue watching it. I really liked the main
actress's performance though. There's some-
thing really eerie about it but in a good way.
After taking a small break I managed to
finish this drama in roughly two days, once I
got back into it I just couldn't get enough of
Nanno and all the cases at the schools she
has visited! Chicha did such an amazing job
with her role, it was awesome to see her act
especially how she was laughing, that was
phenomenal and always sending shivers
down my spine from how scary it was.
Some of the episodes I liked better than
others but all of them were of high quality
and were thought through as the characters
in them were often multidimensional and
gray. The whole drama spoke of bad deeds
committed by humans and how our society
reacts to them. The punishments Nanno
chose for the people were sometimes
justified, sometimes too much for the crime
and sometimes she was just playing with
people and it was just for the person
watching to decide themselves.
My final rating for Girl From Nowhere is 8/10.

Great Horror Anthology Series
At first, I was confused as to what Nanno was. Initially, I saw Nanno as someone who exposed dark secrets, which is what happened in Episode 1 (which was a great episode to start a series). However, at some points, it felt like Nanno was just provoking people to do bad things. Netflix described her as someone who exposed people's dark secrets, which seemed a little inaccurate to me. However, on Reddit, someone described her as someone sent from hell to test people's worst nature and I think that's a better description of Nanno. She exploits humans' desires and sees how far we would take them in order to achieve those goals. I actually liked that we follow Nanno and she jumps from one school to another because it would have been odd for her to stay the same school and no one notices that she's the one exposing all the secrets. The acting at some parts was lackluster, but I think the actor for Nanno does a good job. I thought her laugh was a little "cartoony" but now, I see that to be an integral part of her character. The cinematography varies from each episode since there are different directors for each one, but I liked the style overall. I think this is a great watch and I like how it can be unpredictable because with Nanno, we never know what she's thinking so we're surprised when she does what she does.Was this review helpful to you?
Ideas on how to watch GFN
This review is more about how to watch and appreciate the messaging of GFN. This series is very provocative and brutally blunt. Very power format. I might add educational for me to see issues expressly from the view point of school aged youth. The obvious - Kitty Chicha is brilliant casting. Her physical stature adds value to Nanno's presence. Her prep for the part is unique. Each episode introduces a wealth of excellent actress/actors. The high quality of production, directing, and sound track are evident in every episode. Episodes 6-7 are must watch tv. Morakat Liu's talent explodes into her character. Watch this interview with Kitty, gives definition to Nanno. I am an old westie (from the western hemisphere) living in Florida, USA. I had to ditch my expectations and sensitivities for drama tv. Don't look for the pleasant ending. The theme for story lines is dark, and the endings are going to leave you feeling uncomfortable. GFN episodes are not shy, will slap down your comfort zones, get straight into your face with messaging. It feels like the visual representation of social issues that many of us only get exposed to on the net. GNW is timely, with today's (Oct 2021) criticism of social media and effects it has on youth widely being discussed. The inspirations for episodes are horrific events in Thai news, presented in GFN by foreboding scenes, often disgusting and shocking. A couple of episodes made me want to shoot the tv. Reading some of the distractors of the series, episode one or two are a show stopper. It sure knocked me down. If you watched the interview and start the series with episode 3, you'll develop a better understanding of Nanno. Then come back and watch ep 1 & 2. Order does not matter, cept 6-7. With 90% of content centered in school setting, much of the expected culture norms are not present. Fantasy and fiction are a staple, executed to perfection. After getting over my emotional response to ep 1 & 2, I binged. Its engaging and addictive.
