Twelve year-old Mei meets Jie, a new student at her school. Both of them are lonely and reclusive and feel like outsiders in their own lives and befriending one another, they form a bond and run away into the mountains. They are leaving in search of that piece of puzzle missing from their lives - only to find that, perhaps, they have been the missing pieces to each other's puzzle all along. (Based on the book by Jimmy Liao)

Cute casts, plot you can relate to, artistic, full of imagination, youthful, vibrant and awesome cinematography. This film is so wonderful..except for the ending (I am quite unsatisfied..)

This is the first time I've watched an adaptation from an illustrative novel..I am so glad to ending credits at the end showcased those illustrations..

I think this is a movie for all ages--something anyone can watch..esp. SINCE EVERYONE has experienced being a 13 year-old. (except for those younger..lol..)

TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!!

Unique perspective of a sweet story that keeps the integrity of the book. Beautiful cinematography with cute quirks (think, Amelie or Pushing Daisies) that don't feel gimmick-y. At first I thought this was just a cute film, but since watching it last year, it's resonated with me and has become a top-ten favorite. It makes you remember what it's like to be in middle school, and how vulnerable an age that is. Quite beautiful, though yes, I wish it were longer!
