It's not my favorite theme, but the script is very good. The screenwriter imprinted captivating personalities on his characters and knew how to tie all the stories together. Watching Yan Po Yue and his companions grow was exciting.
The direction acted in the right measure in creating an enveloping drama without slow down. There are action scenes that are very good, there are comic scenes and many scenes that move and make tears flow.
The performances are exquisite, the entire cast worked hard to create an excellent drama.

I want Season 2!!!!!

What a great, great, great military chinese drama!!!! I think, one of the best military chinese drama for me! Perfect casts/actors, beautifully written story, convincing/realistic executed fight scenes/gun fights, love the OST and just how good they deliver their roles and scenes that are needed.

Yan Po Yue's and his comrades journey in their police academy life is full of struggles, pain, blood, tears and a whole lot of brotherhood.

Another hats off for Yang Yang's stellar performance, in this drama. Yang yang only showed that he can be a boy next door senior boyfriend, a cold and genious e-sports player, a gifted scientist and now my frustrating, annoying, kinda bordering to being psycho, yet handsome, and brave soldier.

You'll laugh, get frustrated, cry with them, be on edge, upset and just be amaze with each scenes as they are all perfectly executed.

And oh! I love my best girl sniper, Guo Xiao xiao! The actress who played her role is amazing! Hoping for more dramas for her!

An impressive and very well-made military drama.

I finished watching Glory of Special Forces more than a month ago. I was initially hesitant to watch it, because I thought 45 episodes was a bit long for a military drama, but I'm glad that I dived into it. After I've completed this drama, I was actually hoping there would be more episodes!

Things that I like, which kept me engaged throughout the series:
• It has a very engaging and well-paced storyline that made me excited to know what's going to happen next.
• Interesting characters with great character development, especially Yan Po Yue.
• I'm very impressed with Yang Yang's acting here. He's one of the reasons (or the major reason) why I picked up this drama. He was able to convey all emotions - sadness, joy, confusion, anger, fear, resoluteness - he nailed them all! I can't imagine someone else playing Yan Po Yue.
• The rest of the cast also gave good performances. Kudos to the entire cast and crew for a job well done!
• The drama showed the challenges and hardships that the soldiers had to go through in their training, as well their teamwork and the victories they gained in the process. There are also glimpses of their past, events that shaped them to become who they are.
• Opening and ending themes songs that fit the drama so well.

Other Comments:
• This drama has little to no romance - there are hints of potentially something developing between the main characters (like they could be more than friends), but that’s just about it, that angle is not developed further. It would be good to expound on that.
• It would be nice to have more stories about the next stage in their military careers.

Overall, I really enjoyed this drama, so I highly recommend it.

Best Military Drama ever!

I am not a fan of military dramas, but I was addicted to this one since Episode 1. it is a journey of a Young Man with many difficult behaviours. He is arrogant and has a Long way to go. I enjoyed his struggles and failures… only to become a better version of himself.

Great actors and a fantastic Yang Yang. I agree with other reviewer… it was his best performance so far .

Great battle scenes and it felt the whole time, that i couldn‘t stop watching the drama because i was so thrilled Wih the character design and the Story.

By the way… fantastic Soundtrack!!!!

All in all i highly recommend the Drama and i will rewatch it for sure. Hopefully there will be a second season. But i am happy with the ending as well.

AND 1000 thanks, that there is no romance in this Drama! I am a girl, but the brotherhood between the friends and comrades is the Best. I loved Lone Wolf… she is a great female choice for a sniper. She is cool, Not girly and can stand next to the male buddys and Kick some asses ;).

I Hope there will be More dramas with this Dynamic and Format.

Third strike!!

This is my third drama of yang yang in a row after discovering him last week! Lol. Started with WRTW and YAMG, still cant get enough of him, so decided to watch this. Being a military drama enthusiast, of course this is right up my alley.

First and foremost, i am very much in love with how they do the battle scene and the fighting choreo was such a satisfying watch! It looks so sophisticated and elegant at the same time. It was 10/10 from me! Lol. Basically, the military part of this drama is chef kiss!

YY’s acting for most part is amazing, except for a few, which probably will be mentioned below. Lol. So many whump scenes for our YPY. I loike! Haha. Of course, YY’s body and built is really suitable for a commando character. Tall, not too thin and broad shouldered. The military gear looks so good on him. Though my boy at first sometimes is very annoying (i really empathise with his commanding officers tbh. Haha), i think it is a needed annoyance so as to portray how YPY grow up later on.

The supporting characters are all very good. Good to see Xiao Yun Jie and Lu Xiao Tian again after their roles in SCI. Best musketeers ever! And of course one need to mention GXX. Her acting is tip top and her portrayal as a sniper/commando is one of the best female soldier acting i’ve seen so far.

Now, as much as i love this drama, there are a few not-so-nice things that i feel the need to mention. Firstly, the PTSD arc. As we know, soldiers are very much prone to ptsd due to their highly volatile job-scope. So, many military dramas usually include a ptsd-related arc, as with this drama and Operation Special Warfare. And as how OSW botched the ptsd arc, GOSF also did not do the topic justice. During that arc, i was struggling to finish watching without skipping ahead. It was so sloww and draggy. And this is the only time i feel that yang yang’s acting fall flat to me. It felt like a boy throwing a tantrum rather than a soldier having to brave thru a ptsd phase. Sorry YY. Secondly, i feel the need to mention about how the scriptwriter tend to write how YPY always goes missing every time they finish a drill. Lol. Once was ok, twice is kinda pushing it tbh. Same goes with YPY opening up about his past. It should only been done once in the entire series and best achieved thru opening up to his cheetah’s teammates, rather than to Staff Officer Ai imho. And personally i feel that the final arc regarding the anti-terrorism competition is kinda anti-climax being put after the drug-dealer epic showdown. That arc should be the closing stunt for the show. And not sure if it is a case of sloppy post production editing or what, but what happened to the scene after YPY was taken to the enemy’s hideout and was then rescued by Xiao Fei? It seems that something is missing and suddenly the next scene is already YPY happily spending his day in Cheetah’s camp. I was like, ‘the hell happen here??!’ Lol. The camera work was also dizzying in some scenes. Lastly, sometimes the colour scheme really distracted me. Sometimes, they made it look like it was a 1990’s drama what with the black and white colour scheme.

Ost are not that many. So and so. Well, it is a military drama, so i dont expect much for the ost

Rewatch value: i think i’ll be rewatching many scenes from this drama in the future. The whump part of YPY and of course, the battle scenes!

P/S: i’m so sad this is going to be my last Yang Yang marathon in a while (not sure i want to watch Love O2O, it was from soo long ago and the cinematography and everything is wayyy different than say, dramas that were produced in 2018 and above.) 50/50 on watching the king’s avatar because of the e-sport gaming theme. Arghhhh Yang Yang! Please hurry up and comes out with a new project! Lol

One of the best C Dramas I have ever seen

The story in this drama does not stop. There is not one minute of anything being boring as it was action packed in 95% of the episodes, maintaining interest as the story rolled on. Even the "down-time" stories were full of content that moved the story forward. I was never confused at what was happening and the timeline was linear and easy to follow.

Even though Yan Po Yue was the main character, the supporting characters all got their own screen time and were essential parts of the story which contributed to the goal of a cohesive unit of people striving to be their best. I was invested in every character, living their highs and lows along with them and I liked all their stories. If you are looking for strong females, you will find two of the best female characters I have seen in Chinese drama in this show.

The acting is incredible by every single cast member, so much so, that I was totally immersed in the emotion of each character's story and hardly ever said to myself "this is so and so acting". (although I did say quite a few times "Wow, Yan Po Yue is so good looking and to a lesser extent, so was Lu Tu"). The amount of physical work involved in acting this story must have been immense, along with dealing with the environmental conditions they had to endure. Every actor in this ensemble did not scrimp on either their preparation or the 100% effort in each scene to make the viewing as realistic as possible.

I enjoyed the traditions and world building behind the special forces this team were a part of and feel this contributed much to the development of the story. I admit that it took me a while to figure out the character's ranks and found myself spending a lot of time looking at lapels and sleeve badges to try and determine who should be saluting whom and who was who during the thick of the action.

The costuming, music and cinematic photography combined well with first-person camera views that sometimes made me feel as if I was a real character playing in Call of Duty. Kudos to the production crew for what must have been an exhausting shoot.

I do not usually like war or "male" action stories (the only other I have enjoyed was Descendent of the Sun) but this one hooked me from the very first minute - I had never seen a situation like this before and wanted to know why this group of people were doing what they were doing in such an environment and I was HOOKED!

My only disappointment was that the series seems to have ended quite abruptly, but that might just be me,

I have seen quite a few coming of age stories and this counts as one of, if not the best, so far. I feel bereft at finishing the series and feel truly aggrieved that I cannot follow their stories anymore.

A Must Watch

What surprised me was there wasn’t any type of romance. Sure we saw female characters but it didn’t get to the point where we could’ve seen a wedding at the end. But I’m not mad at it. I loved the characters and the actors and actresses did an amazing job. We saw the growth from seeing them being arrogant, that they’re the top of the top. Until they get reality checks we see friendship being made, sacrifices being made, grief and how everyone handles grief differently, unity, learning to have each other back and that they aren’t alone especially in a special force that requires unity. It’s not just a one man job but a team.

My All-time Favorite Drama Ever

I Don't know how should i put it out by Words. I just know i am really happy. soo Much. i Didn't expect this much. It's huge and full of Madnesses. thay shown us a bigger Canvas. i never imagined Chinese People’s Armed Police like this. thay Didn't tried to show that thay are The Best and other's are nothing. and also, i Admire Yang Yang. his Script Choice Weren't Bad at any Drama (Although i dropped “Who Rules the World ") and for a few second i mistook him as Ghost from Call of Duty Mobile (Jawbone Uniform) when he was running out of Village to take cover from Terrorists in Joint Military Drill.

this is the First Drama whare i loved every Second of Story and Acting.

also one more, Cinematography. Jungle Cinematography was Bad but when it comes about Dessert or Abandoned City Then It's amazing. well still i will cut 0.1 Rating for Cinematography. my rating on this drama is 9.9/10 ❤️❤️❤️ MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE DRAMA AND IT'S THE FIRST ONE IN THIS LIST ❤️??

Yang Yang's best drama to date. And might become the best Chinese drama of all time.

Every aspect of this drama is perfect. The main and core of the story was executed flawlessly. This drama won't be as good as it is without every single one of the casts and crews who worked really hard into putting the best performance ever. I was impressed by everything about this drama. The characters are flawed in a good way. The lessons that we learn along the way. The growth of every characters. The sacrifices that have to be made. Yes, there are some complains that I have but those things aren't greater than the best things of this drama. My complain is very subjective, but objectively speaking this drama truly deserve a high rating.

And I stand by my statement that this drama is Yang Yang's best work. I know he's a great actor. But I only realized that he's a versatile actor after watching this. The range he could pull in this drama is insane. I think he maximized his full potential through this project. I always enjoy his projects, though I never called myself a fan. But after this? I officially joined his fanclub. I'm absolutely addicted with his acting.

best drama

watch it once won't be enough. after you finished watch this drama, you will watch it over and over again, like me :D the crew and actors really professional, you will feel like you're in the scene when watching. every scenes they did it themselves, which made it more amazing. it's been day 3 since it's ended, but i still can't move on. their chemistry also very strong in real life as well, so you'll feel the friendship and the family. can't help but being touched by that. you should also hear the ost where jiang long and meng a sai sung. that's really beautiful, they got a very nice voice

Yang Yang showed off his acting skills

"Glory of Special Forces" is the drama at first I thought I would never enjoy even tho I like Yang Yang. I am so happy I was wrong. I had very low expectations since its a military genre & I don't usually watch it. BUT this drama changed me.

The cliff hanger in every episodes, Oh God! You can see every actors, director, cameramen, script writer and other staffs had put their full efforts and fortunately their efforts paid off. The best character growth of a character I have ever seen. Yan Poyue made me frustrate, angry, cry & feel proud for him. Every character in the drama is important. They are not just there to lift up the male lead, they had their own life, story and importance.

Finally, I hope everyone would watch this drama without any prejudice against Yang Yang and his skills. He will prove it to you that he is more than just a pretty face!
