The same idea of triads and a Romeo and Juliet type relationship. A daughter and son of opposing tribes are forced to be lovers. Will their love be fake, or real?

Funny man Nick Cheung Ka Fai and heartthrob Louis Koo Tin Lok are teamed up by producer Wong Jing in action filled comedy film spun out from the gambling genre he helped to create. Internationally acclaimed director Tony Ching Siu-Tung does excellent job making Cheung and Koo look like highly skilled martial artists. Cheung plays a low rent gambler with a typically huge ego who seeks out a legendary gambler, played by Koo, who dropped out of sight several years earlier. Involvement of Japanese production funding and the casting of Yasuaki Kurata mandates that various Tokyo locations are used for international flavor while the various plot intrigues play out.

Both of these revolves about the loves of daughters of gangsters. Though "The Gangster's daughter" is a movie but "Triad Princess" is a Netflix series.

Hope you like it!

Funny scenes with apt acting. In order to find the truth of ourselves and to understand, pushed to the edge and then at last lost and found nostalgic feelings in us.

Jiu Liu overlord has a similar feel and style to Triad princess. A confident strong female lead and the comedy is similar ( though Triad princess seems more crude from the subtitles). I wonder if it is the same director.

In both Taiwanese dramas, the FL serves as a bodyguard. Each is a motherless children who has been heavily influenced by her fathers whose occupation is in a male-dominated world. Both FLs have supporting male friends who follow their fathers' orders and help them run interference as needed.

Differences
(1) FL context: TP involves a triad (I know obvious given the title) while SSB uses a security company lead by a former military man.
(2) FL role in love triangle: SSB has a clear 'nemesis' vying for the ML affection (2 females and 1 male) while TP has 2 men competing for her (2 males and 1 female)
(3) ML context: ML for TP is in show business while SSB ML is an automobile dealership CEO
(4) type of romantic story: SSB is more melodrama with lots of character development while TP is glitzy idol fare
(5) series length: TP = 6 30-40 minute episodes, SSB = 82 45-minute episodes

Nam Sang-mi plays widowed police officer Lee Sun-ae who finds herself suddenly immersed into international espionage by Han Yoo-il (Dennis Oh), an undercover agent. Lee Joo-hyun plays Kang-Jun, who's recently transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department. He opens an old case involving Sun-ae's past that leads him to an entanglement between the current political/economic powers and their secrets. One of them, oddly enough, being Han Yoo-il. Who is this man? Why is he here?
