Both dramas has the same production team and it’s very familiar the studio and costume , both deserve to be watched

Both have similar vibes and well-developed characters. Both are centered around the imperial family.

Both depict the hard life of royalty, with traumatized crown prince/emperor who strives to be filial toward their parent; they are haunted by their childhoods and their relationship with their mother and it guides their decisions as adults

Chronicle of daily life of the Emperor and government officials in Chinese court system, leaning more towards portraying the historical events, political debates and the rich culture.

•Palace drama dealing with its occupants daily lives throughout many years/decades.
•A smart, magnificent female lead who fell in love with a distrustful emperor that frankly speaking didn't really deserve her affection
•Though they both have a very realistic feel to them, Serenade of Peaceful Joy is indeed more toned-down and peaceful than Ruyi's Royal Love in the Palace.

Both dramas are heavy on political talks, with family drama. And they make it absolutely not boring. Both have great production values.

The political aspect resembles.
The trustworthy queen willing anything for her emperor.
Same vibe of palace intrigues and plots.

A subtly nuanced story that includes many unhurried psychological moments makes these dramas intellectual and aesthetic cousins. One is an adaptation of a classic novel, the other a reconstruction of the Song Dynasty period, yet they both provide a deep immersion in the era, reconstructing the hermetic world of mansion and palace life.

Completely different storyline but both are the direction towards sadness and loneliness , overcome hardship relying each other
P.s the cinematography is great in both, calm and pleasant.

Palace of Devotion is the predecessor of Serenade of Peaceful Joy. The first story tells how Liu E becomes the consort for Emperor Zhenzong, and later rules as the regent. She continues to rule as regent after the death of Emperor Zhenzong during the early reign of Emperor Renzong in Serenade of Peaceful Joy.

Although these dramas have different plots, I feel like they give off a similar vibe. There are harems, politics, and elaborate costumes.

Both dramas depict a pampered princess who falls in love with her servant while going through arranged marriage. This forbidden love, however, does not last long and they are torn apart by family.

In both, the Princess is betrothed to a man she doesn't love. She falls into deep grieve when her lover is wrongly accused and banished.
