This was the drama that made me look forward to Thursdays and Fridays ♥︎♡

Myungsoo/L was made to play this role. And Baeki (the name of the cat actor) deserves all the fresh kitty treats.
(I did some research and can you believe Baeki's owner has like 15 cats!!!!!!)

The start of the show starts nice and fluffy. It was exactly what I needed at that time, a wholesome show. The interactions between the female lead Sol Ah and our cat-boy Hong Jo are so pure, they're so sweet together.

Jae Seon the second lead is pretty boring ngl, but I did love the bromance with him and Hong Jo. He doesn't want to admit it but he has a soft spot for Hong Jo.

I didn't mind the secondary couple either, they were sweet.

However halfway through the show, it starts to get sad very fast. I was like "what's this angst doing in here??"
Suddenly they introduced logic to the show and he has the lifespan of a real cat? It was like a mix of fluffy and angsty from there onwards. Every episode was like 'thanks for my weekly cry'

I was so stressed over how the show was going to end but I'm content. Many unanswered questions but idc
Overall I really enjoyed it! It was so visually beautiful, and the OST was nice, it worked well with the show's atmosphere.

I'd recommend it for those not looking for anything too heavy, and just something lighthearted :)
(and Hong Jo is just the cutest cat ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ best boy)

a bit too cheesy and weak for me

*just a disclaimer i watched this drama alongside another drama while i waited for the episodes since it was airing, but i was so hooked onto the other drama that i quickly lost interest on this drama and eventually dropped it since it was starting to drag

Story; I initially was drawn into this drama with high hopes. The idea of a handsome human-cat shifting character carefully taking care of and watching over the female protagonist gave me thoughts of a cute fluffy romance drama and that thought was definitely fulfilled - you can really see the chemistry between the two protagonists and also especially within the friend group and I thoroughly enjoyed that. However, I noticed that as I continued to watch I became less and less interested by each episode and eventually forgot to watch the newer episodes that were being realeased while it aired. There's not much of a plot... it starts out strong but there is no significant events that take place apart from maybe one villain that's eventually brushed away. There's no quarrelling between characters, a very weak love triangle with the second male lead, and a shallow side story romance. However some people might prefer this seeing as it allows for more focus on the main characters.
I will say though, I appreciate the writers for not following a generic plot with an annoying second male lead and instead replacing it with a cute bromance.

Acting/Cast; L was a very nice addition to the drama considering he has had a similar role as a guardian angel in 'Angel's Last Mission' but I just wanna say: if you're looking for a drama with a protective male lead then I'd strongly suggest you watch his other drama seeing as it is much more enticing in my opinon with a stronger plot and a badass female lead with a tragic backstory.

In conclusion it was just overall a very generic average drama, I guess I'd recommend it to anyone that's bored since opinions differ (but I do have to say it was worth watching seeing L and the adorable cat that they casted :D)

I got curious about this drama while it was airing because of the ost: Jinsoul from Loona is part of it and my orbit brain is simple: I see Loona, I click it, but since I saw a lot of negative reviews, I didn't watch at that time, - now I decided to give a shot and I regret so much for not doing it sooner. Honestly, don't understand how it was so many negative reviews, it's such a cute heartwarming story, the atmosphere is so nice and cozy, I felt drawn to it immediately.

If you're looking for a lighthearted drama with a charming protagonist, couple scenes that make you smile because they are so adorable and full of light-hearted moments it's perfect for you. The ost was really good and complimented the scenes very well. Also, the secondary couple was cute too.

One of the main things that I liked the best about is that all the characters were likable, even the ones I initially didn't enjoy at the beginning, I ended up warming up to them eventually. At the start, I thought the second lead was obnoxious and rude, but his friendship with Hong Jo was so funny and he eventually became was such a good friend to both leads - romantic feeling aside, that my bad opinion of him didn't stay that way for long. Eun Ji Eun, another character that won me over, even though I didn't think highly of her at the beginning. Most of my childhood friends are introverted and timid like her, so I loved how she stayed the same, only grew more confident in herself.

Most scenes leave you with a smile on your face, there's a little bit of angst at the end, but it manageable. Overall, it was a positive experience and I would recommend it ♡

A cute and comforting drama!

I really enjoyed this drama, although it's true the first episodes can seem a bit slow and confusing, this is the kind of show you should keep on watching because it gets better and better. There are actually plot twists and many secrets, you'll understand everything after a couple more episodes!
The casting is great, I really like Shin Ye Eun, she's natural and funny, she always play interesting female characters, Myung Soo also is great at playing cute and non human characters lol. Even the cat isa great actor! The secondary characters were also appealing like the very shy co-worker.
It's a warming drama to watch while drinking tea or coffee in the middle of fall or winter!
There are a lot of important life messages as well.
I hope for more dramas of this type!

Don't know these actors and actresses.

Having had a feline companion, I was worried each time Hong Jo tried new food and drinks that were bad for cats, such as spicy food topokki, milk, coffee and alcohol.

I was captivated from the beginning to end, so personally don't understand why there were reviews saying it was boring :P Might be the relatability. The cuteness of the cat helps. It also covers issues that rescue centers goes through, from old cats are unwanted, left over cats get euthanized and hard to detect if pets are being abused or not. Living in our world, it is natural that we all lead very busy lives that even with the best intentions we would have days or weeks where we would be too busy to care and give the attention to loved ones, much less to pets. The growth of the characters were pleasant to watch. How friends and loved ones drift apart and how they bond together becoming stronger. Mostly thanks to the cat.

Really enjoyed this series! Cute, fun and funny. Definitely gets sad, good dozen of tissues were used at least towards the end. Cried for the sad story moments. Cried when the characters cried. Cried even when the characters didn't cry. Cried because it reminds me of my fur baby that passed away who was like Hong Jo, who followed me around and was just happy to be in my presence.

The ache of knowing and not knowing your time is limited with a loved one is stressful to the point where you don't even know which one is more cruel. To know or not to know when your time together will end permanently.

Had potential

Also known by the titles “Hi” and “Welcome”. This is a 2020 Fantasy Romantic Drama with 24, 30 minute, episodes.

Kim Sol-Ah (Shin Ye-eun) has an artistic mind and an active imagination and works at an ad agency but dreams of writing Webtoons. She categorizes people as either dog like people or cat like people. She thinks she prefers dog like people because cats are generally quiet and independent. When the boy she has had feelings for since high school (10 years), Lee Jae-sun (Seo Ji-hoon) suddenly returns Sol-ah finds herself thrown back into longing for the guy who broke her heart by suddenly leaving and having anither girlfriend. It is a mystery as to why he kissed her and acted like he wanted to be with her and then suddenly left. Friends before the brief interlude Sol-Ah falls back into the pattern of friendship all the while wondering what happened and wanting more. Jae-sun seems relatively cold toward her but does not say why. Seo Ji-hoon newest ex brings a cat they both had and says she can’t keep it and for him to take it back. . The problem is he’s very allergic to cats so Sol-ah steps up and says she will keep the cat while he finds another place for it. What she doesn’t know is this is no ordinary cat. Something about being around Sol-ah makes the cat turn into a human. Suddenly this strange boy is appearing around Sol-ah. When she finds the stranger in her house she mistakes him for her step brother she never met but is to share a house with. She renames the cat Hong-jo and decides to keep hi. As her feelings grow for the cat she begins to feel an attachment for her new housemate as well. As she grows more distant from Jae-sun he discovers he still has feelings for her after all. Who will Sol-ah choose?

spoiler 🚨 I started out liking this one really well. The premise was interesting and I like the supernatural aspect. I was also really happy when the lead girl did not continue to pine after someone that did not seem to have any feelings for her. I thought the relationship she developed with the cat was one any animal lover could understand. They sort of creep into your heart even if you don’t really mean for them to. It was a little harder to understand how she developed such a deep connection when he turned into human form. While I was happy to see her able to move on and not long for somebody that didn’t seem to want her, it was sad for her to love so deeply someone she could never be fully with. When the second guy actually came around and you found out his backstory I found out I was rooting for him too. There were several ways this could’ve ended happily but, for me, it made me feel really sad towards the end and I was not happy with the way it ended. In fact I would’ve found it much better and rated it much higher if I wasn’t as disappointed with the ending as I am. For those that don’t mind endings a little sad it may not bother them as much but I don’t like ending a series I otherwiseI enjoyed on a sad note. It had “Pirates of the Caribbean” Syndrome in terms of a sad Situation. It reminded me of how I felt about “Absolute Boyfriend” where the ending had me irritated - it felt like such a waste.

I'm gonna be really honest with this review. For me a 6 stars rate is average. In my opinion the story started dragging way too much around ep 10 and I've really struggled to finish it since then, reason why I stopped following it while it was airing. It has really funny parts though, and it was nicely acted which is why I gave it 6 stars when in my opinion the storyline is 4 stars. I also took into account the fact that I really enjoyed the first episodes, but that didn't stop me from wanting to finish this drama as soon as possible.

I don't like dropping dramas, I always try to give them a second and even a third chance just in case it gets better. This being the reason why I finished this drama, I actually don't regret finishing it. It has some cute and funny scenes that are really appreciated at some point so it wasn't an useless watch. But be careful if you like cats! You'll probably fall in love with this cat; I did and I'm more of a dog person so... yeah. It's really cute (and I'm talking about the cat itself, not the guy haha)

The main point here is, ''Meow, the Secret Boy'' isn't the best drama out there, I'd actually say it's not a really good drama, but it's nice to kill some time (which is the main focus of dramas, right?) and it's gonna make you laugh so I'd say if you want to watch this, give it a chance. It may not have been that good for me, but you may love it!

" Meow, the secret boy " crafted a beautiful atmosphere, but the story was boring in the end.

First thing first, the drama is that kind of drama that feels like watching a fairy tale being unfolded in front of your eyes, think the likes of Thirty but Seventeen or Angel's last mission love, in which, the same actor was the lead. So, the cinematography of the drama, as well as the light, heartwarming mood, were spot on for the story. The transformation of the cat to a human were handled masterfully too, and there were few awkward moments to it. Also, the second couple was adorable and it was easy to root for them.

However, even though the first part of the drama had some interesting aspects, the main story burned its momentum quickly. Which is a blessing the fact that they only made twelve episodes, or reduced it to that amount of episodes, for that matter. Actually, though the main couple had chemistry, their romance was odd and it got awkward in the end. The love triangle, moreover, was boring.

Now, for the performances, everyone in the cast did a great job and there weren't really any bad performances. Shin Ye Eun showed us a more comical side of hers, Kim Myung Soo was hands down, the perfect man to play the cat, and Seo Ji Hoon, with those eyes that seemed ready to shed tears in any moment, nailed the dramatic character.

So, overall, five out of ten.

Honestly not sure why the drama has bad reviews and such low broadcast ratings–if you're a fan of cats or cheesy dramas (or L aka Kim Myung Soo), you'll enjoy it! It's a wholesome ride throughout, with a pretty adorable main couple and cute cat antics.

The chemistry between the two main leads is great. Shin Ye Eun is always happy and bubbly, and injects a positive energy that keeps the drama from feeling too down. Kim Myung Soo (L) does a great job acting like a cat, and certainly seems to have done the research into adopting cat-like mannerisms (his slow blinks are everything). Contrary to other reviews, I actually quite liked Seo Ji Hoon's stoic demeanor, especially when it breaks in front of L's innocence and earnestness. In fact, I thought the bromance that slowly but steadily grew between the two male leads was probably one of the cutest parts of the drama.

I do agree with other reviewers that L's character didn't experience a lot of development. For the most part, he maintained his honest, earnest nature throughout, and I wish they showed him trying to adjust to the human world more. Also wish the character was just a tad bit more dramatic when expressing his emotions, but L did a great job with what he was given.

The story itself is pretty straightforward, and doesn't make too many odd logical leaps imo. The secret of L being a cat that can turn human is a tidbit that could be bothersome–it drags on for longer than it should, helped in part by a good few coincidences and a somewhat oblivious and slow-on-the-uptake female lead. The ending, too, was a bit disappointing, just by nature of the fact that I wished there was more finality and happiness to it. I do believe the shortening of the drama from 16 to 12 episodes helped tighten the storytelling (even though I can't help wanting more! I'd happily watch four more episodes of L and Seo Ji Hoon being reluctant bros lmao).

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone in need of a few hours worth of easy watching1

Not Purr-fect, but not Claw-ful either...

Interesting concept, but this drama really dragged for me. The acting was just fine, but I really didn't feel any chemistry from the main leads. Also, the female MC was just kind of selfish and a bit obtuse? The most intriguing part was the romance between Ji Eun and Do Shik. I wish this drama stuck to being a romantic comedy like it was marketed as. The melodrama really didn't help with the plot or really showcase any acting talents at all. That being said, I think this was an okay drama. Something to add to the middle or end of your Plan to Watch list. Maybe higher if you like cats :)

Meh not meow

The beginning was promising but it turned into something else.
As soon as she realised who Hong Jo is she becomes distant and annoying. I almost dropped it right then and there. I honestly should have since it doesn't get any better.

The ending wasn't satisfactory at all. Cat live up to almost 20 years. If he was 3 at the ending, will they live in limbo for 17 years more waiting for the occasional Hong Jo appearance.

The second couple was honestly cuter. I loved that she's shy yet she's had life experience and they don't portray her as a 30yo damsel.

It's a bird! It's a plane! NO, it's Cat-Boy!

Oddly, I enjoyed this drama.

I see a lot of reviews here and elsewhere complaining about plot, acting, "how can she choose to love a CAT?", and "she should have ended up with the HUMAN!".

Let's see... plot. It's about a girl and a cat-boy. How realistic can it get?

Acting... It's about a girl and a cat-boy. I'm not watching it while expecting it to win an award at Canne's or even an Oscar.

"How can she choose to love a CAT?" Well... it's about a girl and a cat-boy! Seriously though, for all the ones going "ewww", what's wrong with falling in love with a cat? Now, if he was just a normal cat and not cat-boy, then I can understand a bit of the "ewww" thing. If we are only discriminating for human on human, then we should also say "ewww" to elves, robots, aliens, witches, demons, and everything else too.

"She should have ended up with the HUMAN!" See above paragraph. In a way, this close-minded view makes me a little sad. This reminds me of all the racism in the real world. White should only be with White. Black should be with Black. Rich should only be with Rich. Poor should only be with Poor.

Basically, what it comes down to is this... it's about a girl and a cat-boy! The most annoying thing when I went to watch Star Wars with some friends years ago is when they start complaining about the movie... "That's NOT possible!". Really? It's about space ships, robots, lasers, aliens, and... Jedis that can use super mind powers!

When watching dramas like this, it's probably best to check Reality at the door in order to enjoy it. The drama never took itself seriously anyway, so why should we?

Would I watch it again? Yes, some day when I need to escape from reality for a little while... escape from all the thieving, cheating, murders, and wars in the world.
