JDorama 2019 in Review: A look back on Winter, Spring and Summer of 2019 When she was 17, Minase Akari visited Uki Island on a family vacation and fell in love with Morita Ikumi, the son of the guesthouse owner. The two of them affirmed their feelings for each other as they watched a meteor shower which happens once every four years. They promised to meet there again four years later. However, on that day, Ikumi was not there even though Akari traveled to the same spot. Instead, Hoshino Aritoshi shows up with a camera. Aritoshi is the playboy type who has a way with women but is impossible to hate. Akari has loved drawing pictures since she was a child and continues to keep a sketchbook. Although she has been accepted by a design firm through her job search, she struggles with the specific kind of work she wants to do. The series was not awful but I got to tell you, I have no idea how many times I rolled my eyes while watching this. It was the typical cliché Japanese drama. Naïve female falls in love with a guy. Guy is outwardly indifferent but our naive person is persistent even went neglected, insulted and etc . What disturbed me most about this series is that it seem to glorify the naivety of the female lead. She was clearly talented but also very naïve. I mean that in the nicest of ways. I am noticing that this is a pattern for many Japanese drama. The female lead is very naïve and often follows around or chases behind someone that blatantly disrespect them. Even though there was a reason for it, I found it kind of disturbing that after so many things took place, her feelings were consistent. I can’t recommend this one. This drama is about a Akari-chan a lovely, cute girl who one day she went to Uki island with her family, there she fell in love with Ikumi-kun. Ikumi-kun confessed to Akari-chan about his feelings,and made a promise in 4 years time to see the meteor shower together. Ikumi-kun and Akari-chan exchanged key holders and promised to meet again. After 4 years her feelings for Ikumi-kun and goes to the same place as promised,but Ikumi-kun is not there, Instead another guy named Hoshino appeared with a camera. He is a playboy but when he met Akari-chan he instantly fell in love with her. Akari-chan is still waiting for Ikumi-kun, and can't forget about him, but which guy will she choose?This drama is one of my favourites, if you like cute romance dramas♡♡
