A more 'explict' bromance, if this kind of label exists.

People are talking a lot about WoH, but to me KH is better. Both have their sad tone, but with KH we could see the characters surrender to each other, if not the censorship we could see in the episodes some flufly scenes they put on the extra.

There are some flaws but I can overcome and said tha I become adiccted (still watching everyday). They made a great service putting on youtube with engsub. This show deserve to be known.

SPOILER

YuTang and Bai were a subtle cp, very complex till the end, and I love it. Bai not suposed to love or be loved. Who dares to die for the villain? By mistake YuTang did. YuTang hated Bai when discover the truth and Bai is even more in love I believe so. They shared a lot of things before and Bai is attached to it. When Yutang die I think Bai wants the world share his pain. I like it even if it's a reaaally sad end.

The main cp, YueLou and Chen, beside fight against the opium trade, they live in their own world. No even the kidnaping of Chen's sister because of YueLou can shadow their pda. This is a flaw in the writing I think, not bcs the PDA (NEVER). But they did not developed those emotions of loss. A lot of people die. But still love the couple. and love the pda.

And now I'm watching all Mao Zi Jun tv shows.

Love from a past era

Before going into this last episode...
A special shout-out to the director, Sam Ho, for this heart-felt and endearing BL drama adaptation.
This tells us that a well produced drama does not technically need a colossal production budget and a cast of famous and acclaimed actors and actresses.
“How do you like them apples... Tencent?”

Now, back to the story:
The last 20 minutes of this drama was extremely stressful. With the psychotic menace still on the loose, I was waiting to hear a shotgun in every scene. I had long foreseen that our handsome little doctor was going to die, at the end. My anxiety was more about when...
Now, Yue Lou gets to raise his Beau’s little sister and Miss Fluffy (Could also be Mr Fluffy), as his immediate family.
Sad ending but fitting.

Pure Adrenaline to the heart!

First off, if your heart is fragile don't try this one. It's one of the best dramas I've seen, but it has a lot in common with Game Of Thrones and a certain wedding...
With that out of the way for the people who don't like nasty surprises, lets start.
Everything in this drama may have been low budget, but the love and professionalism that went into this are undeniable. In so many Chinese action dramas the plot is messy because of censorship editing, but in this one everything made sense.
And the characters, so expertly written, even the side characters had a distinct and rounded personality, especially the FL - a rare treat when it comes to BLs. But the stars of this were definitely the two couples and they all grabbed my heart with their stories and the superb acting.
That is the bottom line for me: If you want a gripping, gritty story with gifted actors, fine music and you don't mind the aches and pains, you have to try it.
(And then go and watch the Happy Ending Version on YouTube...)

Kind of Disappointed.

Story:
I gave it a 6/10 because I was honestly disappointed with the storyline overall and it was hard for me to watch everything so I ended up skipping many parts because I found it not interesting. Our two main characters are both interesting but the storyline didn't do them justice. For example, the same thing happens over and over, where a spy or bad person gets caught, but then they die and end up not revealing any information - or if they do reveal important information, it only helps the story move a little bit. There were sadly a lot of plot scenes that were basically just repeated and made it boring. The whole crime thing just wasn't interesting to me and didn't feel well thought out. Since this whole storyline as well as the main leads' story surrounds it, it became hard to watch since a lot of what happens just seemed to be repeating and some also felt cliche to me.

Also, I had a problem with Jiang YuoLou's anger problem and how they wanted to treat him. I think it just was a bit unrealistic at times (many times it works, but sometimes it's exaggerated and didn't make sense to me - and I was irked probably because I majored in psychology) with how angry he is even with his past, but this is just a fictional story soooo yeah, I get it. The only thing that kept me going was the relationship between the all of the characters and my wanting to see how this drama ends.
What I did like and surprised me a little about the plot is that I was kind of tricked into trusting the main villain, doubting him, and trusting him again. This was mainly due to his relationship with another guy, whose character I like a lot. The sad parts were also VERY sorrowful and added to the both male leads' drive and characters which I liked, though some was still predictable but I enjoyed it in the end.

Characters:
I have to say I love the relationship between the male leads and both did a great job in acting their parts. Their brotherhood is indestructible, which I love. They are soulmates, which can be proven over and over with how much they trust and understand each other. One of my favorite character of this whole series is YuZhe just because I like the qualities of his overall character as someone who is understanding, kind, and trusting.

What I found to be much more interesting than even the male leads' relationship is the relationship between Zhan Jun Bai and Yu Tang Jun. Part of this is due to the complexity of their characters and relationship. I also think they had a better chemistry between them.
----Major spoiler:
One of my favorite characters - in my top three for this series - is actually Zhan Jun Bai. That is simply because his character is somewhat contradictory. He says things and do things that are overall bad, but you can tell that he also has a conscience and a heart that contradicts his supposed villain self. For example, he had many chances to kill Jiang YueLou with his own hands becasue YueLou trusted him, but he did not kill him until he really had to. He also didn't actually kill YuZhe's sister and let YuZhe go with his sister in the end, keeping his promise after he thought YueLou was dead.
And even if he fell for Master Yu and didn't want to admit it and even humiliated Master Yu to keep him with him, Zhan Jun Bai still let him go in the end. I would have to say, his contradicting words and actions was what led to his downfall in the end. Like, if he was cruel and just killed all those he needed to, he would have won easily and this drama wouldn't be needed. His character was actually part of what drove me to keep watching because he called the shots.

---A character I came to like a lot lol
Chief Jin surprised me and honestly, having watched similar dramas in the past, I should have expected it haha. He's a character where you are first annoyed of because he seems like an antagonist, but in the end come to like because his annoyingness becomes a comedy and his good qualities overshadow his first impression.
Spoiler:
The only good thing that happened was him when everyone was literally dying towards the end.

Spoiler rant:
I understood why many of the characters died and I get it, but the death of Yu Zhe was TOTALLY unnecessary. The male leads went through so much together and I didn't watch it till episode 37 to see him die!!!! I was completely devastated because at this point, I think the director/scriptwriter just wants Jiang YueLou and us, the audience, to suffer. He lost so much and deserved so much better. Also, my boy Yu Zhe had to be shot twice in the heart! That's fricken painful! I had to watch his last scenes like three times before I realized this was how this drama was going to end. Like come on, I stayed for the main leads and this is what I get? I was sure YuZhe was sacrificed just so the drama could end tragically.... like just bc they wanted it to. Like bruh. I honestly wouldn't be so bummed if there was a more legit reason. Like the male leads are smart and they know their enemy is smart and escaped.... like I felt it could have been prevented. But whatever. Sigh. Idk why so many liked this ending when I was disappointed.

Acting/Cast:
10/10. Overall, all actors acted well and had great chemistry with each other.
I have to say I love the relationship between the male leads and both did a great job in acting their parts. Their brotherhood is indestructible, which I love. They are soulmates, which can be proven over and over with how much they trust and understand each other.

Chu Ran's actress was great. I thinks she did an excellent job in portraying her character.

The other two actors I loved watching was the actors for Zhan Jun Bai and Master Yu. Their characters had so much complexity that it was a great joy to watch these two actors bring these characters to life so perfectly on screen. Also, I ended up liking these two more than the main leads in the end.

Rewatch Value: 6/10. Idk if I would watch it again with how disappointing the storyline was. I would probably only watch scenes between the characters because that's what motivated me to keep watching.

Overall:6.5/10
Again, great characters but disappointing storyline. Also, due to my spoiler rant above regarding the ending, it just dropped it from a 7 to a 6.5 for me.

Zhan got his heart broken so he wanted to watch the world burn.

>>>>>>>>>{{ SPOILERS }}<<<<<<<<<

I M SPEECH LESS.

literally started cause I wanted something light after Long Ballad
WHAT A BAD MOVE
BECAUSE THIS PAIN IS SO MUCH .. WORSE. PERSONAL.

I can't explain it, you just have to watch it.

Tbh the story is much better from the beginning from most bromances like Sci and My Roommate is a detective, I like them but SCI is majority lacking in a coherent story, and Detectives Bromance is good but I just the stories of crime solving is can get repetitive at times.

But Untamed is just perfection when it comes to a proper, coherent story and Guardian despite it's faults the Bromance, the chemistry is just epic.

I'm not even going to talk about stuff like advance bravely or beloved enemy they're just okay and Beloved Enemy feels like they're trying to say falling for a man ain't shit just go fuck a chick. They literally make you feel that way so let's just drop it.

But as I was watching KAH I felt a lot of things were just not paid attention to, especially the way people seem to die and no one cares in the next scenes or quite simply forgetting a character or story line but those were minor issues because this story is just so addictive and entertaining!

And despite it's faults it was growing on me, much like the two couples - Dr Chen and Jiang Yueleo and Zhan and Yu.

And here's the thing and maybe it's just me, I NEVER STOPPED SHIPPING ZHAN YU. It's true. You can hate me for it, but okay I'm noticing so many people in the comments section and otherwise are hating on Zhan but not Jiang lol

Here's the thing

Jiang HIT DR CHEN ON THE HEAD AND KIDNAPPED HIM when he refused to leave Hongkong.

He let him get so badly involved in their world Chen was imprisoned and tortured.

Jiang PRACTICALLY BEAT CHEN TO DEATH

JIANG ACTUALLY SHOT HIM. IN THE CHEST.

In comparison this is what Zhan did to Yu

Took care of him when he saved his life and pretty much had him living in the mansion

When his uncle was about to kill Yu Zhan saved him and chained him up in the mansion. But just like Jiang beat Chen and SHOT HIM Zhan VERY OBVIOUSLY did this so his uncle and insidious servants would think Zhan doesn't love Yu.

And okay CONSTANTLY there were references to the king and the concubine, THERE'S NO STRAIGHT EXPLANATION FOR THAT and Yu said those things because he was hurt because he DID SAVE Zhan.

And I don't want to get into the ending too much but I'll just say this - that ending made it go from a 7 or 8 show to a 10 rating.

I see so many Chinese bromance aka BL ending bittersweet, and I don't like it. Untamed as much as I loved THE CHARACTER AND STORY AND WRITING JUST PHENOMENAL - But wtf was that ending because it was so anticlimactic. WORSE than a high five lol

This whole I'll choose duty over love bs is just propaganda right but Guardian DID IT SO WELL.

Because when Shen Wei goes off with Ye Zun you get sad but when you see that scene where Shen Wei is saying to Yun Lan that he waited for him for 10,000 years, THAT'S WHAT GETS IMPRINTED ON YOUR MIND. And not the fact that these two also - well Shen Wei anyway - chooses duty over love. Because the sincerity in the two men, their entire body language, and even if they're not 'together' you don't feel cheated.

That's how I felt when I was watching KAH s ending.

Heartbroken but also relieved because the love they had for each other was BEYOND EVERYTHING.

BEYOND LIFE AND DEATH.

And so you know they're SOULMATES.

That all it needs is one resurrection, or one heaven, and they'll be together then, same as Guardian.

But, okay poor Zhan.

My heart.

Like okay when he shoots Chen and says to Jiang 'we both lost!'

And then Jiang shoots Zhan and he also dies and the same rosary that Yu carried he was now holding in his hand and the beads fall everywhere.

How POETIC was that like I CAN'T GET OVER IT.

everyone judging Zhan but look at the asshole who raised him.

The ONE person he was in love with couldn't even be saved.

I'm just devastated at all this loss only because Yu wanted to protect his dignity and kept everyone at arm's length because he hated the idea of being weak and sick and helpless. He should have trusted Zhan more because he was clearly willing to do everything in his power for him. I mean for all Zhans talk about power the guy died just as helpless HOLDING YU'S ROSARY BEADS. He died taking revenge because in his mind Jiang caused all his loss especially Yu because Zhan couldn't protect Yu because of everything happening with his uncle and the opium business. To him Jiang was the reason his attention was divided and he was forced to keep Yu chained up and then the way Yu basically became his ememy and blew himself up to destroy his uncle's plans.

But if Zhan was that enamoured with power he wouldn't have done what he did, instead he would have restarted the opium business and done his usual crimes instead of going on what was rather obviously a suicide mission.

Remember when Yu was holding the trigger and says then let's get blown up and die together ffs that's basically what Zhan did in the end. He didn't want power. He wanted Yu but no one cared.

AMAZING CHEMISTRY

I just finished this series and is still processing what happened but its too good to not leave a review. nothing profound but just me rambling, anyways...

right off the bat, the two ML have amazing chemistry that draws you in before you even understand whats going on with the story. The acting between them is amazing and its sad the sweet moments were cut. But you can still get the feeling theres something more to their relationship than whats lead on regardless of all the "best bro" talk. Chinese "BL" has one of the best chemistry maybe its because they can't explicitly show it.

BGM is a bit repetitive. You can tell there's only a few in this series and it gets recycled a lot. HOWEVER, thats not a bad thing necessarily. I really like the BGM they have and it really sets the mood. It's all done right and nothing feels out of place.

The story wraps up by the end. not many loose threads, and I'm contend with the ending. However you will realize that after a while there's a pattern- which is that EVERYONE dies at some point. Only 2 exceptions.

Rewatch value is a bit low just because the story completely wraps up by the finale so the only real re-watch value is the chemistry between Yue Lou and Yu Zhi.

Overall a really good watch.

Rollercoaster

Looking for something lovey dovey and cute? GET OUT! Looking for something you can go insane over? WELCOME!
So first off, this is NOT BL! The bromance is definitely there tho lol This is not a show you can skim through and if you get bored easily, then this might not be for you. It honestly took me awhile to finish this. Not every episode is action packed and some of it got a bit stale for me but don't dismiss it, overall it was really great. It's not much of an emotional rollercoaster but there's gonna be PLENTY WTF MOMENTS! I call it a rollercoaster cause there's a bunch of plots that (don't worry) eventually roll together. lol But until they do come together, it can get easy to get bored/lose interest. I'm not sure who I'd recommend this too but it's worth the watch in the end. (Speaking of ending) I CAN'T EVEN DEAL!!!
Enjoy!

This story in my personal opinion should be called :KILLER AND KILLING" like they killed almost all the characters. i suggest to prepare bunch of tissues beofre watchinf the ending. i love the actors they played thEIr role very well and y'all ZHAO JUNBAI is in love with BOSS YU!

The plot is kinda common but expect the unexpected, don't get attached too much on every characters because you will be surprise on what will happen to them in the next episode. i suggest to watrch this masterpiece!

Underrated

The company doesn't know how to promote this properly and cut the special scenes, I didn't know that it would be this good. I have been searching for bls like this and it was right in front of me. Such a pity they cut the romance scene and doesn't even know how to promote it. I hope one day it will get it's recognition ?the actors deserves more credit for their acting unlike other bls where they stutter every 2 minutes?its like any other action drama but it's rebelled as a bl I honestly would appreciate it more if they could keep the scenes, then it would have been more great. Two lovers in old days falling in love slowly is very beautiful.

I fear I may never shut up about this Drama. A HIDDEN GEM. TRULY AN ICONIC MASTERPIECE!

So underrated! I’m telling you, when I decided to watch the first night, I only planned to watch the 1st episode to set the mood because it was already late. But I end up watching the first five episodes ? The chokehold this show has on me was something else. Honestly, the tension drives me and they showed that even in the first meeting of Dr. Chen and Chief Jiang. From then on, I knew I was gonna love it and it really didn’t disappoint. Exceeded my expectations actually. The visuals, the acting, the tension, the story and of course the undeniable LOVE these two have for each other. The actors did a superb job. I've never seen a more perfect casting than this. I keep posting snippets and frames of the scenes I love on twitter but nearing the end I stopped because the hype was peaking and I just can't stop watching. I have no complains but even with the censorship, I’m glad the writers still put bits and pieces to hint their TRUE FEELINGS for each other. Some even we didn’t think would pass censorship. Haha! Their story stayed true to the theme. The way they constantly save and take risks just to stay by each other’s side was unconditional. And if pushed to the edge, willing to die for the other without a second thought. So many good moments and I just know I will be replaying my favorite ones. Production was good, cinematography was on point and I love the scoring and OST so much. That made the beauty of the drama really flourish. I'm a little late to this but please show love and support for Killer and Healer and give it a chance. It's really worth the time. I can't get enough of this Drama!

I can now die in piece.

Killer and Healer has reached the kind of standard I've been looking for a BL/BROMANCE drama. I have rewatched this for perhaps 10th times already, and until now I cannot find the chance to get over it and move to another drama. I love how Chen Yu Zhi and Jiang Yue Lou's love for each other is shown — they don't need kissing or sex, all they need is trust and loyalty. That's how the story progresses. And also, I like how Chief Jiang expresses his intimacy with Dr. Chen which is through nape touching and intense staring. ***enough to make me swoon over them*** There is absolutely no heterosexual explanation for how Chief Jiang is mesmerized towards our heroic and smart doctor. I don't regret watching this. In fact, I want this to be the last CBL on my list before I die. ***kidding*** But seriously, I'm in love with the characters, the storyline, the ending (both the happy and the sad one). I don't care much if it has a sad ending, all I care for is the efforts that the scriptwriter, the director, the casts, and all the staffs were exerting just to get this phenomenal series done. Kudos to the team!

By the way, I secretly admire Jan Junbai although he has done things a villain could possibly do. And Yu Tang Chun, he's so pretty! I'm obsessed.

Actually I was ready to crying in the last episode (since I saw a “tragic ending” tag on the title), but I didn't expect that I would cry with anger :((. It was so evil that they made me smile faintly and then slammed into tears.

Even though they didn’t want to label this series as a BL, but the chemistry amongst the leads said the opposite. Yet, I bravely say this is still a BL series but with a lot of censorship (like every single way of BL).

After all , I am not disappointed with this series, the performance of all actors were extraordinary. Even their supporters.

In Indonesian:
Sebenarnya saya sudah siap untuk menangis pada episode terakhir, tapi saya tidak menyangka kalau saya akan menangis sambil kesal. Jahat banget mereka membuat saya tersenyum tipis kemudian dibanting menjadi tangisan.

Meskipun mereka tidak mau mencap series ini sebagai BL, their chemistry said the opposite. Bagaimanapun ini tetap BL series but with a lot censorship (like every single way of BL).

Namun saya tetap tidak kecewa dengan series ini, bagaimanapun performa kedua pemain utama sangat luar biasa. Ditambah dukungan para supported actors yang juga tak kalah hebat.
