Story: (Rant)
I regret complaining about predictable dramas, this was so frustrating when I cared about the outcome but I stopped caring about halfway through and lost all interest, I completed watching it for closure.
Basically imagine being a blind person that follows sounds, and the writer keeps tossing pebbles around you, they toss one, you take one step there, and they toss one on the other direction, and it's not only 2 directions, but like 3 or 4.
Instead of just making it mysterious, they forcefully led you to the wrong direction over and over until the last 2 episodes where the ending is finally starting to clear.
It was so frustrating that some characters KNEW what happened wouldn't just fess-up when they aren't even awfully evil, they just DON'T want to talk, or empathize with the main leads.
The result of all of this is a rushed ending where suddenly all the evidences appear, and witnesses talk, to close the drama.

Cast:
They were okay, like other comments and reviews said, the chemistry and romance between the leads was awkward, also at this point, I think Eun Joo's teeth were glued together, unfortunate since I was looking forward to her performance.

Music: It's alright if you're into classicals, but if you're not I don't think you should watch this drama at all, since this is the best part of it compared to the rest.

Rewatch Value: Honestly, once you know the ending there is really nothing remaining in rewatching it unless you want to laugh at the pebbles the writer kept throwing left and right.

Initially the drama created so much interest and curiosity regarding the Ian's death. I really like the first two episodes of the drama. But midway in completing it, I lost interest in the present scenes. All I cared about to know the murderer of Ian. But after 20-21 episodes the plot seems predictable and even when the 5-6 episodes left you can tell the murderer of Ian.
Still, I completed it. I think it's a one-time watch drama. It's good, I can't say it's bad, but it could be better by creating some more suspense.
And, I also agree that the ending was so much rushed. It seems like from last 4-6 episodes the evidence start coming, and some of them are from nowhere. You will shock that for all the time the evidence was in front of the people, but all they do is laying fingers on each other.

This review is solely based on my opinion.

This is my first time writing a review and it's because halfway through the drama I was so disappointed as to how the story was going. At the beginning, I was pretty excited about it because the plot seemed intriguing and new. However, after the first 10(?) episodes, it just became super draggy. It was so annoying to watch because there were so many unnecessary scenes. Everyone was playing the blame game. Every time a small clue popped up, it took a whole episode to develop and it wasn't even a tricky or well depth clue! Wished the story had a little more mystery to it. Literally we only find out the actual truth towards the last 4 episodes. Before that it's all just messing around, messy messy plot not to mention how many times they repeated the flashbacks. I felt like there was no direction. I can't express how disappointed I am right now.

The acting was rather awkward although I love both of the MCs. I did not fancy KSJ's character that much but I think she did an OK job. The others were fine. Music was also fine.

I don't think I'll ever revisit this drama.

Overall I think this drama had loads of potential but it just didn't live up to it. Don't get me wrong tho, it is in fact, watchable. Just don't expect too much like how I did.

I really wanted to love this drama, and in the beginning I kinda did, but sadly that love didn't last. I think the main problem is that this drama had such an intriguing start. "I Wanna Hear Your Song" starts out as equal parts rom-com and thriller, which immediately got me hooked, but unfortunately the drama behind it all never quite lived up to all the build-up. Still, the two leads are great together, so I can't complain too much.

Of all the characters I liked Yeon Woo Jin as Jang Yoon the best because you could never quite tell what his intentions were. I've definitely liked him in other dramas but seeing him being so duplicitous made me like him even more as an actor. I loved how charming yet sinister he could be, and that made me really want to know what his motives were. He is matched with Kim Se Jung as
Hong Yi Young, who I liked much more than I thought I would. At first, I thought she would be too young to hold her own with him, but her character was written in a refreshing way so she wasn't a doormat and often spoke her mind directly. Her "YOLO" tendencies could have easily been annoying, but she was so likable that I wanted to root for her. Even her being a timpanist is a cool choice. I think the two of them also had some great chemistry moments, which along with the mystery of Yi Young's forgotten summer made me eager to watch each episode. There are other characters who are pretty good too, though most are just filler. The best part of this drama is the idea of their love story, but as Yi Young says early on, this is NOT a love story.

Yes, a lot of this story involves romance, but the bulk of it is a murder mystery. The mystery storyline is revealed in interesting pieces and the world of the orchestra was a great setting, but once all the pieces start to come together in the later episodes the story starts to get really boring because it feels so drawn out. There are so many repeated flashbacks in the final few episodes that I actually started to get annoyed. Then the reveal of what happened and wrap up of all the characters was an even bigger disappointment because it felt so forced, cliché, and contrived. Song Jae Rim as Maestro Nam had the best story arc of the side characters, but Park Ji Yeon was completely underutilized. Many of the other characters were forgettable and very one-note, even her BFF. If it weren't for the romance elements this drama would have felt like a complete waste of time, and even the romance was a let down at the end no matter how hard they tried to recapture moments from earlier episodes.

Would I watch this again? I doubt it. I'm sorta curious about how watching this drama would be now that I already know what really happened, but I can't imagine watching any of the later episodes again. And as for the soundtrack, as much as I liked the orchestra, especially the baby shark moment, I despised the "Beautiful Day" song that they kept insisting on repeating! I know she's an idol and stuff but I'd rather hear Jang Yoon sing me a full concert than hear that song ever again. I don't wanna hear that song!

Overall, this drama goes from an exciting start to a basic ending. Maybe if it were shorter it would have been better, or maybe if the ending was less obvious and dragged out I would have liked it a lot more. Instead, this is a drama that I am likely to forget by next summer. Maybe it's worth a watch since there are much worse dramas out there, but I suspect you will lose interest towards the end. Perhaps it's better to watch the first part and then when you're ready to drop it ask for spoilers instead of suffering through the final episodes. Unless you need a cure for insomnia too? If so, just treat the last episodes like a serenade from Jang Yoon and let them lull you to sleep.

Intriguing

The story was light at the start, well combining a few confusing flashbacks and so, doesn't really hurt.

This drama will bring you to what works behind the curtains of musicians and orchestra. That makes me stay and had the interest to understand a few things with how music works to a few. The story went too deep to the unknown murder and so, it was thrilling and frustrating to watch.

The lead roles gives justice to their characters, especially, Kim Sejeong... I think she was always too prepared to cry that her real bubbly self was drag down together with the whole story. But I was amazed that Woo Jin and Kim Sejeong has very strong chemistry that you just wanna watch them. That made me stay and watch this drama. I think more than anything, you will see a different side of Kim Sejeong's acting... Immersed and justified.

" I wanna hear your song " had a nice mystery but the main story was so so.

First of all, the mystery was pretty interesting. They handled the pace pretty well and they presented the whole mystery thing in a way to keep things interesting till the very end. However, the romance was so so. And the love triangle wasn't well developed. In addition, the side stories were not interesting enough to be entertaining or add something to the story. Finally, the performances were really good.

So, overall, seven out of ten.

Many dramas start with a bang and just fade out into nothingness. This is definitely one of them.

I enjoyed the first few episodes really well, but it just went downhill way too fast and nothing could stop it from burying itself deeper. Don't get me wrong, there is plot, there is acting, there are sub-plots (which by the way, can be skipped without the loss of any kind of context whatsoever to the main storyline), there is good music sometimes, but overall there was something not quite right about how the story proceeds in time.

Many scenes don't seem to convey the emotions of the characters involved. The few characters onscreen fail to make an impression from any given scene. There is basically zero character development. The relationships were just there for the sake of it, no real connection between any two could be made due to the weak portrayal by the actors. Even though the storyline was good enough, the screenplay was disappointing, to say the least.

I am quite biased in my opinion that there was nothing worth remembering once you finish watching this drama.... neither it leaves a feeling of warmth in your heart, nor does it give you a sense of satisfaction for the main leads finally getting some closure.

There is also the classic and quite frankly unnecessary time skip towards the end of the last episode which underwhelmed the continuity without mercy. I don't really understand why the male lead had to get out of her sight without saying goodbye, where he could have easily conveyed to her that the couple would require some time to get over all the things that happened over the past few months. And seeing that the female lead has gone through quite a few life-threatening situations herself, would have had the brains to understand that and take a break for a while. The main lead just escaping from all of that was a really dumb move.

I have been frantically searching my memory for any good things in this drama, and just couldn't find anything.
I hope I'm in the minority who feel like this, because even though it was quite bad for me, I could feel that the cast was really trying to get it right, sadly it was just not worth it.

If there's a typical SOAP OPERA style Kdrama, this is one of them.

This show is way too long for no reason, and the finale was irritating as hell. I hate when they're doing another totally unnecessary drama in the finale. The basic of the story was great, it had its potential, and even tho the acting was great, the writer should be ashamed of herself, honestly. Laziest writing every, probably. If this wouldn't be a show with Sejeong, I would've stopped watching it after episode 10 or so. Or even sooner.

I won't even bother to write more about it because it's frustrating and if the writer were lazy, why should I do more than her? All I can say: If you love Kim Sejeong, watch the show, she's great, but if you're not a fan of her, just skip it.

Oh the humanity!!

This will be a complete spoiler rant, so if you don't want to know what happens in this show, stop reading. It's been a long time since I have been so frustrated an angry while watching a drama.
1) First and foremost, I hated the FL character. This woman was actually stupid. I mean, how many times are you gonna stand in the street and wait to be hit by a car?! Why would you meet up with your cheating, scumbag of an immature ex-boyfriend? Why would you let the girl that slept with your boyfriend boss you around? You're interested in a guy, and he tells you that he's approached you because he thinks you killed his brother, and you don't get mad? Not only that, you tell him over and over again that you like him, knowing that he just thinks you're a killer? You find out who one of the killers is, and you continue to hang around him? AND, you accuse him to his face?!?! You go wandering around at night, by yourself, to find information on the killing, you run into one of the killers, yet you continue to wander by yourself? Then, there is the total lack of work ethic and the fact that she seems unable to do the simplest jobs correctly.
2) I didn't particularly care for anyone in this drama. The ML, the looks he was always giving made me think that he was not the best guy in the world, either. Were we supposed to think that? Why?
3) Too many episodes. The red herrings were flying fast and furiously and there were almost complete episodes that I fast forwarded through because the flashbacks were completely repetitive, and they kept trying to make us think things that weren't true. This can work well, but in this case, I felt like the writers were writing the script on the fly and had no idea where they were going to take the characters.
4) Lack of chemistry between lead characters. They actually seemed to be uncomfortable with each other. It was painful to watch.
5) Once I finally found out what actually happened, it was such a letdown. Again, I felt like the writers boxed themselves into a corner and wrote and ending that no one would care about after all this time.
6) Time Jump - I know, it's obligatory in K-drama world. He left without speaking to her, leaving her a note. Comes back a year later like nothing had happened and she just forgave him?!?! I'm not one for playing games in relationships, but I don't think anyone in their right mind would forgive and forget that easily. Plus the fact that the chemistry was still lacking. This was the first time I've watched a drama where I would have been perfectly happy if he never came back.

The music was the highlight of this drama.

I would not watch this drama again, even if someone offered to pay me to do so.

Good Drama

This drama was really good especially when sejeong is in it! I love her acting! She has improved from school 2017 by a mile and we are happy to see her improve in it! The other charcters were really good as well! although their are some parts that were dragy but I woudl still give this a 10 cause I like music and mystry dramas and this drama is mixed with both Myster and Music ao that's why I love it so much!

Sejeong showed her potential in school 2017 and now she has prove again that she has the potential and capabilities of being a good actress not only a singer but an actress! she has always been hardworking ever since! we hope that in her new drama this 2020 it will be an even better and more widly impact than this becuase this drama was good but some people doesn't like it so I hope the drama that Sejeong will enter will give her the recognition that she deserves as a hard working and determined person.

Chemistry was awesome

Loved this drama. Would love to see a season 2. If not possible, would love a season 2 of The Doctors
Maybe Kim Rae Won and Park Shyn Hi could guest star. Would love to see Yeon Woo Jin and Kim Sejong casted and reunited again as the new main leads. Maybe instead of their first meeting would be on a college campus instead of high school. Maybe YWJ is a medical professor. KS is a medical student. They meet again at a hospital where he is a doctor and she is an intern. They have conflicting opinions about the diagnosis and treatment of a patient, but work through it and in the process fall in love. Just a thought.

I wanna hear your song

You can be sure that rate is so high because of Kim Se Jeong - eventhough I can not say it was the best from her, in my opinion she still was amazing.
It was not bad but could be better, the idea of plot was great actually, maybe it was just too long and should have max 10 episodes (1 hour long).
Spoiler - I wished Song Jae Rim' s character actually did not became a murderer - although he is not our villain in this story. Also I feel like he had better chemistry with KSJ.
