My family and I have been watching a lot more Chinese dramas lately as I've found them to be more interested in them since it is their native language and it's easier for them to watch than to watch with English subtitles. My dad originally started this one and didn't like it, mostly finding it to be too childish for his taste. However, as we continued on, it became a family favorite, an enjoyable nightly pastime to end the day with.

For me, the drama was highly entertaining, and I found a lot of comedic relief through a lot of it. With a good-looking (and talented) cast and a cute plot, I knew that it wouldn't be too much of a difficult drama to get through. I also liked that the premise of the drama focused on ice sports and didn't completely just focus on romance or university life. The music was also amazing and had me singing the OST for quite some time after finishing the drama!!!

[ spoilers below ]

However, there were, of course, things that I didn't think were necessary. The side couples seemed to start stealing the focus away from the main couple (particularly between Huan Huan and Liao Zhen Yu) and the dreaded "second lead" became also a "third lead", neither of whom seemed like even a potentially viable option for our main female. The dramatic fall of Yu Yan was dragged out for much too long, and it was a bit strange that suddenly, her spending time with him resolved all of his mental health issues. Finally, I had high expectations for the final time-skip, but that really failed to meet expectations! There was so much potential in a great wrap, but they really failed to conclude it well, in my opinion.

[ spoilers end ]

Overall, I truly did enjoy this drama and it's why I still give it a fairly high score despite the issues that I had with it!

i recommend this drama 100%

first of all, i liked this drama a lot. it doesnt have all those twists and weird things that usually happen in other dramas that in my opinion tend to be unnecessary and just hurts de show. in Skate into love, i think everything made sense, every twist was explained and i didn't feel like it came out of nowhere so that's a plus.
i like that the couples weren't rushed and that you ca see the developement of each others feelings in every one of the couples. something else i liked is the fact that the story of those couples iswas very different from one another. what i mean by that is that every couple had a different starting point, a differnt way to fall in love like for example the main couple was reunited after so many years, love-hate kind of relatioship, then we have the main character's best friends who didnt know each other falling in love; the we have the non required love with yu yan... so thats somethung else i liked because you see theres not only one way to fall in love and it can come from anywhere.
however, something i didnt likeis that to me the drama was a bit too long. i mean, i love all the side couples but i think that many couples and having so much screen time, took away the main plot at some points and it was heavy to watch.
Finally i like that the show revolved strongly around a sport. what i mean by that is that a lot of the scenes were in the rink or referring to the rink so the fact that the main charactrs are passionated about a sport isn't just some small detail. is actually the whole series.

PD: i liked every character, the good ones, the bad ones, the bad that turned good... evryone. because you understand wy they did what they did and why they are the way they are.

Amazing chemistry

This is the type of couple I honestly love — teasing male lead and sassy female lead in a love-hate relationship who just really have amazing chemistry together. This is one of the dramas where I never stopped loving the main couple after they got together, which happens a lot to me. Even after getting in the relationship, the main female lead never lost her spunk. They were so good together.

I really did not like the second lead at all honestly, and with that being said, my biggest criticism was with the big noble idiocy conflict. Not only did it make no sense considering the TX's personality, but it kind of messed up the main relationship — even if they had some good moments after, they never got back to where they used to be and all the new conflicts seemed so overblown compared to the rest of the drama. In my head I'll just pretend that that part never happened.

The side couples were really cute — but not all of them, and there were a little too much of them. The characters stuck in unrequited love ended up having really good character development and I do appreciate that a lot of the side characters got redemption arcs and their own stories, but there was really no need to push everyone together into pairs. The third roommate was one that I wish got her own backstory and had more of a role than being the dorm Dumbledore.

The friendships were honestly really good (both bromance and sismance!) and I think some characters could have done without the romance. I especially loved the guys dorm and how they teased LYB about TX. Adorable.

Overall, however, I loved that the drama was both romance, friendship, and chasing your dreams. The part before the noble idiocy would honestly go into my all time. This drama reminded me of Weightlifting Fairy KBJ (another of my faves) and there are so many scenes between the two leads that are worth rewatching.

Ice Sports, Love, Friendship, Growing up, Dreams

Story wise, from enemies to lovers, it was refreshing to see how the leads had different perceptions of their childhood and ended up in different stance. It sort of makes me think how one's actions can cause another's pain unknowingly and made me reflected a lot. Dreams is something quite typical for a drama but putting ice sports into the story made it really interesting. The sports scenes were impressive for me and this drama shed a unique light on ice sports. The love story between Tang Xue and Li Yu Bing was super romantic and I FREAKING LOVE THE CHAMPION KISS! I also loved the friendship and love struggles depicted by Zhang Yue Wei. Her character development is my favourite out of all.

The down point for me was that sometimes the Xia Meng Huan-Liao Zheng Yu couple can be a bit annoying, their story goes around how the girl is angry and then is touched and is angry again (the cycle continues). And the supposedly antagonists Bian Cheng and Zhou Ran did nothing at all.

The cast in general was great. I think the leads had the university student faces and aura. But some others may not have (cues the ice hockey team). Other than that I think they all did a great job! Special mention to the actor of Yu Yan, he is a perfect fit into this character. I throughly enjoyed his acting and his sheepish smiles.

I wanted to give a lower score for the music cause sometimes the songs were inappropriately inserted and is too loud. Also I feel like they shouldnt use well known songs like 平凡之路 cause it really distracts people like me who will sing along and not watch the show. But then....... the ORIGINAL soundtrack songs are super good. 雪花落下 and 当遇见你 are now in my playlist. And these songs really fit into the drama well.

It is definitely a great romance drama and one that makes you reflect a lot. I personally have learnt a lot from this show which I appreciate cause I don't just watch and forget. This certainly has rewatch value, when you feel like giving up your dreams or just wants some sweet romance. Now go watch it.

This drama not bad for watch, full of motivation and quote, full of dream, happiness, and comedy,, maybe alot of comedy is lame, but still funny, the romance ,,the romance may be a little ticklish sometimes, but when playing zhoushen song, the atmosphere immediately changes

in this drama really introduces various types of winter sports,,, although only at a glance, but enough

Almost all the songs of this drama is nice song,, match with the atmosphere of this drama, really....

at the beginning of the film I was still complaining about the various scenes of this drama, and really hate some of the cast,, if you saw it until the end, everything was paid for, notbad

Really loved this show. I decided to watch it after watching Ashes of Love since this story is from the Honey Trilogy. Li Yu Bang and Tang Xue reunite at their university after 6 years apart. It was interesting to see how Li Yu Bing and Tang Xue defined their childhood relationship and how this helped them understand how they viewed themselves and others. I enjoy seeing how their relationship, whatever it was at that time, helped them develop their friendship and love live. It is a great coming of age story that is filled with romance, comedy, inspiration and friendship. Worth the watch.

I absolutely recommend!!

I am a fan of modern Chinese sports-dramas. This is definitely a good drama to watch.
The acting is really good. They've done a good job with the casting. All the sports scenes have been filmed really well. The speed-skating and ice-hockey shots really put you on the edge of your seat.
Beyond the lovestory ( which is adorable), the drama is very uplifting and motivational. It really makes you renew your efforts in pursuing your dreams. There's a dialogue that I loved the most-- "dreams don't shine on their own. It is us who chase after our dreams that shine".
The FL is lovable even though she's not the brightest bulb of the lot. Unlike the usual wide-eyed bambi caught in a headlight, this FL is quite a gangster. The flashbacks where she bullied the ML when they were younger is hilarious. Some of the times she went overboard with the bullying is because she's quite innocent (and dense) to know that she's hurting them. She's ML's support and strength. Once the FL and ML get together, then there's no stopping them. It's really enviable the way they encourage eachother to pursue their dreams while they strive hard for their own.
The secondary couples are all adorable and inspiring. The underlying theme of the drama is balance between love and pursuing your goals.
I absolutely recommend this drama for its underlying message and theme.
I think they've overused the OST to the point of being annoying. But that's forgivable.
I am so happy to watch a C-drama that has a strong female lead. Please do give it a try 👍❤️

Inspiring and happy drama! Highly recommend

an amazing and moving drama. expected nothing less of the same writers as AOL. ZXC and WQ were casted perfectly in their roles, such an amazing pair of actors with sizzling chemistry (the whole cast was brill too!!) i look forward to both their future projects :)
cried a couple of times because of how courageous the characters were when faced with difficulty. it’s not simply a sports drama, so much more than that. i will admit 40 episodes for this was a bit much as everyone has said, but it’s not a dealbreaker. was a teeny bit draggy in the middle but i enjoyed the couple moments so could push through and skip some side parts. even though it was a bit long, i can see they did that to accommodate the side couples and i am glad they took time to develop their stories rather than leave storylines hanging at the end. so i have nothing to complain about. overall, don’t get put off by the length! it is worth all your time :))

Best drama I have ever watched

Dream is a kind of thing grows in our blood or something as obsessive as love. Before the dream comes true it always test you in unexpected ways like Frustation, failur, comfusion, abandon. It often take one, three or ten years to test if we really love it.If we win against all of this we can achieve our dream.

Skate into love is such a drama where you can see how to chase your dream.Time once gone is gone forever. But if you have strong desire you can make your dreams true after 1/2 or even 10 years .

Li Yubing and Tang Xue is idol for all of our young people. They never disappeare from their dream though they have a lots of problems.Besides them the co actors and actresses plays a great role
The chemistry betwen lead actor and actress was so amazing.Though they fight a lot but at a time they prove their love for each other
The story and acting was too good.it contains a highly riched story which is full of romance ,youth and friendship .
All of the songs are soo good.Specially Snow is falling have a awesome lyrics.
Overall this is the drama which will make you cry, lough and remember you a lot of memories that you have passed in your school or college life like your seatmate, your first crush and specially your school life....

I love Janice Wu.
I has been a year since I first started watching C dramas. one of my first dramas was Skate into Love and now after a year later I rewatched this drama because it has been in my mind and heart since then. It has been my favorite since the first time i have watched it and however many times I watch it, it never disappoints me. I will never get bored of it. Every little details and small small incidents that happen is so interesting and exciting. The relationship between all the characters is so sweet.
If you want rom- com its perfect. But there is emotional rollercoaster too.
Another thing to be liked is that each and every character has character development and have a happy ending at the end.

At the end, you can see the real life people displayed with their achievements . This drama has very good quotes for inspirations. It has spreads the message to the Chinese ice athletes to come forth. But if you see it from a broader perspective, the other athletes, irrespective of nationality could be inspired since the hard physical and mental work they go through can be related to.
Hence, This drama proves to be entertaining with comedy, romance and tension. chemistry , inspirational, AND informative.

It was a long. Too long.

This is probably one of the best Chinese Drama’s I have ever watched, it is not to say that this drama was amazingly good, but out of the Chinese dramas I have seen thus far, this is one of the best. It’s funny because the other Chinese drama that I quite enjoyed also stars Steven Zhang, with a love triangle concept in the drama ‘Go Ahead.’

Length: I was honestly scared to start this drama because it was 40 episodes long and I usually can’t stick it out. I found myself going fairly quickly with this drama, wanting to start the next episode as soon as this one ended, so you could say it kept my attention. But, at the same time, I do not think that this drama needed to be 40 episodes long, there were multiple times when things felt repetitive and unnecessary. Times when I felt things could have been easily avoided or even problems that arose that I felt we had just already seen in a different way. I know that these things just add to the drama itself, but it seemed like a bit much.

Character Development: A big concept of the show focuses on the fact that Tang Xue (Janice Wu) and Li Yubing (Steven Zhang) were childhood friends (using that term lightly). Because of this, you would think that there would be actual clear progress on who they were as children in comparison on who they are as college students and the path of who they are going to be in the future. I am not saying that there was no progress because there was some character development with these two, but it was not as much as I would have hoped seeing on how much this part played in the drama itself. Even towards the end of the show, there was moments when I just did not understand why they were doing the things they did and why they had not further matured, when there was so much time to do so previously. Why act childish at the last moment, when this whole time, you have been fairly mature?

Side Characters: There was quite a lot going on within the show and there was so many side stories and characters, that at times I would forget that a certain person even existed or forget what exactly was going on with a certain character. I think that side couples and characters in general really do play a part in the overall content of a drama, but having too many of them, can at times lessen the value of it all. Bian Cheng, for example, I understand why some may think that he is considered a main character because of all the problems that his character caused, but there were times when I forgot he was even in the show. It may be because he did not get as much screen time as say the hockey team or Tang Xue’s roommates, but his overall character was lacking, it was like he did not have a full story. At least characters like the hockey team brothers or Tang Xue’s roommates had some sort of actual story. Don’t get me wrong, they did still lack because there were times when I felt that things were rushed or didn’t really make sense, but at least with them, they felt more important.

Yu Yan & Mental Illness: I have mixed feelings about the depiction and storyline regarding Yu Yan and his anxiety disorder. Before it was shown as an actual diagnosis, I somewhat assumed that he would eventually breakdown and something would happen, just based on his symptoms depicted as well as my own knowledge on anxiety disorders. I don’t want to say that the way they went about this is incorrect, because quite frankly it’s different for everyone, but at the same time there was problems with it. Anxiety disorders don’t just go away, that’s not really how they work, it takes time for you to heal as a person and get better. Yu Yan’s character was pretty spot on regarding how he would feel and the actual things he would do or not do with this going on. The ringing in the ears, hearing things, yelling at the coach, not getting out of bed or eating, it was depicted well. The healing process was what threw me off a bit, not necessarily having Tang Xue come and help because that does help. It was more that, all the sudden he was magically okay. I understand that this is in fact a drama, so not everything can be done within a short span of time, but really the show was 40 episodes long. So maybe more could have been done in this aspect. Not that everyone needs therapy or medicine to heal, because they don’t, but possibly something like that, that was not just Tang Xue coming over to hang out and ultimately keep him distracted.

I watched because of Janice and Steven.

This drama has a good start, but the ending seemed to be forced and kind of a disappointment.
The start of this drama gave those sweet, heart fluttering, romance-comedy type of drama's feeling.
The story was well built in the first half of the drama. However, after the second half of the drama, it began to rapidly fall down.

I kind of had high hopes due to Janice Wu and Steven Zhang as the lead. They did have good chemistry in this drama, and well-act. However the second half of the drama's plot kind of ruins everything.

My patience end in the almost last scene of the drama, when LYB did some kind of performance.I really don't get the point.
