Comfort Drama!!
My obsession of the moment!! The drama is great and very interesting, it is a pleasant and light drama that is very entertaining. The performances are great and leave nothing to be desired, highlighting the performance of Park Yoo-Na who did an excellent job as the antagonist, her entire arc is very interesting and carries the drama for a few episodes. Something to highlight are also the comical moments of the drama that make everything much more comfortable and cozy, the one who dominates the humor in the drama is the protagonist's sister and her romance. I don't even need to say anything about the main couple, I live for them, They have a lot of chemistry and they rocked it at all times, I would watch 20 more episodes just to see more of both of them. Truly a great drama that is worth checking out.Was this review helpful to you?
I love the series
I saw this series when I was taking the entrance exam. I remember it wellAlthough I don't like school series very much, but this series really touched my heart, it gave me a good vibe, I saw it again this week and it was sweet for me, I don't say it's very beautiful, but it's funny to me.
one of the school series that I liked a lot, sons were better than flower (which was compared to this series).
I love the series 😍🙂

it’s a super popular kdrama for a reason…
This is one of the most main stream K dramas of this generation. Even though it might be considered basic, I remember being so excited for a new episode every week. All of me and my friends would talk about it together so I just have fond memories of it.I really enjoyed the storyline and how it speaks to beauty standards especially regarding women. Many people might call this K drama overrated however to me I feel like it deserves the hype. The way that this storyline had so many people torn over two guys is crazy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an intense love triangle.
The coloring used on every episode was interesting. The soundtrack was so fun to listen to and complemented the K drama so well.
I will be honest and say I wasn’t initially happy about who was casted as the female lead. However after watching a few episodes I was sold.
Ju Kyung and Suho definitely had more chemistry in the behind-the-scenes clips than they did in the show. I was definitely rooting for Seojun but I’m not mad about her ending with Suho either. I also loved the friendship between JuKyung and Soojin and to see it crumble over a boy broke my heart.
I remember crying over a scene where Jukyung Was getting yelled at for her mother when her mother found out she was wearing make up. Something about the way the mom was screaming at her and the way she was reacting hit a chord.
Overall this K drama made me feel really good and had me very excited.

am i the only one who liked suho and seojun?
ok so I liked both seojun and suho but I know some people hated the drama because of suho being kinda "overprotecting" I guess?I did have the second lead syndrome and I still cry over jukyung not ending up with seojun but I liked both of them. honestly, I felt like I was the only one who liked both of them and not just seojun because some people were hating on suho. it was okay, not the best nor the worst. I loved everyone's acting, especially Im Semi's, Cha Eun Woo's, In yeop, and Yoo Na's. I am not saying the rest of the actor's performances were bad. It's just that I loved theirs more. This was my first k-drama and some people would be making fun of me for having this as my first k-drama but I don't really mind. It was one of the good school romance k-dramas I have watched.
Oh, and I loved the extraordinary you cameo scene. I actually rewatched that part because I totally had no idea that was a part of true beauty and it was hard to find which episode it was. I got bored in the middle but still, the ending was great.
I'd definitely recommend this drama to everyone but you might probably cry because of the second lead syndrome

E isso me destroçou.

A nice time
I see all the negative reviews and can't help but chuckle. What did you think you would get going into this drama?I was clear from the get go: I wanted a nice, not too deep, romantic series in a school environment. And that's exactly what I got.
Could they have wrapped up in 8 episodes? YES but they still managed to keep me pretty invested until the end. Are there things I did not like? SURE, but they did not spoil the drama for me.
If you liked My ID is Gangnam beauty, you will like this as well and should not pass it up.

Lighthearted romantic comedy with a touch of social commentary
True Beauty is a South Korean romantic comedy-drama that tackles themes of self-acceptance, societal pressures, and first love. While the show boasts a popular cast and an intriguing premise, it has received mixed reviews.Exaggerated Style and Uneven Humor: The drama's over-the-top, almost comical style might not resonate with everyone. Some find the humor falls flat, and the central conceit of makeup's transformative power is debatable. The protagonist, Lim Ju-kyung, isn't drastically unattractive without makeup, and the makeup itself doesn't create a dramatic transformation.
Awkward Messaging and Redeeming Qualities: The drama's handling of societal emphasis on appearance can feel clumsy at times. However, the show does pick up steam as the romance progresses, particularly with the introduction of a character's tragic backstory and the development of a love triangle.
Comparisons and Cast: While "True Beauty" doesn't take itself too seriously, viewers might find other dramas like "18 Again" and "Gangnam Beauty" deliver similar themes with a more balanced tone. Despite its shortcomings, the show benefits from a well-chosen cast. Moon Ga-young delivers an energetic performance as Ju-kyung, while Cha Eun-woo and Hwang In-yeop bring their charismatic visuals to life, resembling characters straight out of a webtoon. The supporting cast includes seasoned actors like Jang Hye-jin and Jung Joon-ho, adding further depth to the story.
Overall: "True Beauty" is an enjoyable teen drama with a likeable cast, but its execution might not be for everyone. If you're looking for a lighthearted romantic comedy with a touch of social commentary, this show might be worth checking out, especially if the later episodes with stronger character development and plot twists pique your interest.

Overall this drama was good, there was nothing really special about it
The problem I had with this drama is that it had every romance cliche in the book:
- ML and FL knew met as children
- FL best friend betrays her because she in love with ML
- Everyone likes the FL or hates her no in between
- love triangle where FL is oblivious to SML's feelings
- love rival and ML used to be best friends but has fallen out
- ML and love rival end up becoming friends
- love rival helps ML with relationship
- and more
While these were executed well it felt repetitive to all the other romance dramas seen before, but this did not make it a bad show. It had its own specialties and fun moments that made this show enjoyable. The thing that truly bothered me in this story was the fact that they never really express that it's okay not to look perfect and to fit the standards of beauty. They just make it seem that everyone at her new school was just slightly nicer than her last which is why they didn't bully her for her "ugly" face.
The cast was great and the acting as a whole was good, there were some moments of questionable acting but otherwise, it was a very enjoyable k-drama.

changes made to the story for drama version
●FIRST IMPRESSIONAn ideal adaptation of the webtoon. The cast is legit supremacy. A feel-good drama. This show has an ocean of rom-com dose for us from the start to finish. I went with the progress of the story without bothering about who should get the girl. The romance, bromance, friendships everything was so enjoyable. but near the end I got that writer managed to give an ongoing webtoon a cliche closure, not perfect but it was fine.
●PLOT VIEW
I still think the series could've been shot better. this series also missed some elements to make it perfect TBH it was so cliche in every aspect. Like turning a perfectly good character Kang Soo Jin into a troubled child.
The mean mother sudden change. In fact, I had the feeling that more than school bullying, Im Ju Kyung faced bully from family especially her mother.
Also if one doesn't wear the glass they don’t become blind, they can still see things although blurry but they will see. When I'm Ju Kyung glasses are broken, that scene was made beautifully but I had to say this its's a stupid scenario.
●ACTING/CAST
Everyone acted awesomely well as per the story. And I like all the characters.
CEW was handsome as ever but he needs to have more skills for expression. Just a cold face with glimmering eyes is one expression, and he needs to work on that. He looked cute in the scenes with his friends, which was comfortable and enjoyable.
HIY gave an amazing performance, I saw him in 18again and he shined in this drama too. He makes a high school student more enjoyable to watch with his sharp eyes.
MGY was beautiful and was a total fashion goal in terms of school uniforms. I didn’t see any school drama with such varied uniforms. When we were in school we had just one uniform the whole year. Maybe the budget of the show was giving such an idea to makeover the face as well as the uniforms.
●MUSIC
OST and BGM were amazing These songs were making the scenes enjoyable giving in a more energetic vibe. I enjoyed every single track and have updated my playlist with these 3 tracks “Call me maybe”, “Love so fine”, “It starts today”.
●REWATCH
It was a fun watch & I might watch it again in the long future
●AFTERTHOUGHT
The lesson learned from this drama is to make friends before you find love. Also how to not be a bad parent.

True Beauty (2020) - The Ultimate Feel-Good Comfort K-drama! ?
First of all, this is a LONG review so if you want a quick small one, you can skip! Let's start! If you are looking for a drama that perfectly balances the fluffiness of a high school rom-com with the weight of real-life issues, True Beauty is an absolute must-watch. I just finished my journey with these characters, and I can honestly say I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT. It is a rare gem that manages to be hilariously entertaining while remaining deeply meaningful.
💄 The Artistry of Makeup & The Mask We Wear
What I loved most was how the drama handled the theme of beauty. It wasn't just about "becoming pretty." It explored the psychology of makeup—how it can be a tool for confidence but also a prison of fear. Watching Lim Ju-kyung master the art of makeup was so much fun, but the real beauty of the script was seeing her realize that her worth isn't tied to her eyeshadow or concealer. The aesthetic of the show is 10/10; the colors, the fashion, and the "glowing" cinematography make every episode a visual treat.
❤️ Dealing with Trauma & Finding Deep Meaning
Don't let the bright posters fool you—this drama has serious depth. It dives deep into the trauma caused by school bullying and the immense pressure students feel to fit in.
[Slight Spoilers] The emotional weight of the story really hits when you learn about the tragic past of the three best friends (Suho, Seojun, and Seyeon). The scenes where they confront their grief and the guilt they felt over their friend's death are intense and very emotional. It shows that true healing only happens when we open up to those who love us. It’s a story about forgiveness—not just for others, but for ourselves.
🚫 The Perfect Cure for "K-Trauma" Avoiders (ㅋㅋㅋ)
We all have those friends who stay away from K-dramas because they don't want to deal with "K-traumas"—those soul-crushing, depressing endings that leave you in tears (ㅋㅋㅋ). This drama is for them!
While there are definitely moments that will make you reach for the tissues, the show never loses its "spark." It’s a feel-good journey through and through. The humor is top-tier (the "Okey Dokey" dance and the chaotic family dinner scenes are legendary!), and the ending is incredibly satisfying and warm. It’s the kind of show that heals your heart rather than breaking it.
🎭 The Legendary Love Triangle: Team Suho vs. Team Seojun
The chemistry in this show is off the charts.
Lee Suho: The way he loved Ju-kyung for her "bare face" and her soul was the definition of true love. His character arc from a cold, lonely boy to a supportive partner was beautiful to witness.
Han Seojun: My heart literally ached for him! The "Second Lead Syndrome" is incredibly strong here. Seeing him hide his pain behind a smile and a motorcycle helmet while being the ultimate protector was both sweet and devastating.
🌟 Final Verdict
True Beauty is a love letter to anyone who has ever felt "not enough." It teaches us that while the world might judge us by our covers, the right people will love us for our chapters. It’s a mix of comedy, heartbreak, makeup tips, and life lessons that I will never forget.
If you haven't started this yet, what are you waiting for? Grab your snacks (and maybe some tissues) and enjoy the ride! 💓
