Another couple to embrace and another drama to go after. Chen Xiao Qian is a feminist screenwriter who unexpectedly gets stuck in a parallel world where her story has come to life (How I wish everybody can be present in a world they write). As a 3rd princess who's not supposed to live long in the story, she made her own destiny, strove hard to survive and meet and stayed with the arrogant-to-softhearted-to-mischievous Prince Han Shuo. Featuring Ryan Ding & Zhao Lu Si, whom I've already love since Oh! My Emperor and Love Better than Immortality, this drama will surely make every viewers laugh and cry.

Hilarious and cute

I love costume dramas and even if I hate everything about them, If I like the aesthetics I watch them as a guilty pleasure. I started this series without too many expectations. Usually, cdrama comedy is just silly to me but I will be honest to say that some of the scenes made me laugh out loud. I especially love the sidekicks lmao. They're one of the best parts.

The story/writing itself has a lot of flaws but you can overlook that if you start this series without expecting too much sense from it. One other thing I really enjoyed was the setting. I loved the matriarchal twist, really goes to show how ridiculous and wrong our own world is and it's truly a breath of fresh air. The romance is cute, nothing too swoon-worthy but honestly the way the ML looks at the FL is just *chef's kiss*, and the puppy dog eyes... ૮(˶˃ᆺ˂˶)

I still haven't finished it yet (ep11), I might update if I have anything more to add.

I recommend it to anyone who wants something fun and lighthearted to kill time.

Edit. I finished it finally. I wish they didn’t drag it for so long and repeat the same damn cycle over and over again. This isn’t very good to watch if you want something with an AMAZING story and everything makes sense, but its perfect if you just want to laugh. It WILL make you laugh i promise xD

Relaxing-Comedy-Historical drama

If you want to watch a light-hearted historical drama, then this is the right show for you. The whole time I was watching this drama, I laughed a lot, my heart was blooming as if I was also falling in love. I liked how the writer made this story move not too slowly. Everything moves quickly, especially the changes in the male main character. Even so, we can still enjoy it.

Of course in a drama, especially a drama with a romance theme, there are always ups and downs in a romantic relationship, this is also what happened to Chen Qianqian and Han Shuo, but don't worry because this drama is predominantly a comedy, you won't be too sad when you see the main character facing problems.

Ah, The final scene in the last episode left several questions in my mind, but I didn't mind it too much because it didn't spoil the overall storyline. In conclusion, this drama is suitable to watch when relaxing and refreshing your mind, and as a bonus, the soundtrack is great too! especially the opening song.

Beautiful ?

🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅🌹🐅 This was my first period costume drama. I usually prefer modern dramas because I dislike war, blood, and violent scenes, but I really loved this one! The main leads were perfectly paired and their acting was excellent. The Female Lead (FL) was funny and adorable, and I also really enjoyed the chemistry between the Male Lead (ML) and the FL's servants. While the last two episodes were mostly sad, I was happy that it ultimately had a positive ending

Addictive and a whole lot of fun . . .

Modern love storylines often suffer from a lot of unrealistic danger, whereas historical/fantasy storylines often suffer from outdated romance ideals. So, what if you combine them?

This drama concept isn't new, but it's very well done. The leads have great chemistry, the plot is fast moving, there's lots of protectiveness/rescuing/sacrificing scenes blended with a lot of humor. As with all great dramas, I was reluctant to leave the characters and universe behind.

Music was competent, and while endearing, I'm not sure I'd ever be tempted to rewatch.

I grade on other criteria as well:
Complex Themes - 5
The clumsy (though well-intended) theme is exploring equality in gender roles for both society and relationships. The better executed themes are around learning to be your authentic self and trusting others, as well as what makes a kind and generous person.
Character Growth - 7.5
Both main leads grow and change as a result of the relationship and are transformed as people by the change from a fake relationship to a real one. The rest of the characters are fairly fixed, and second sister's character development is sudden and clumsy.
Complex Female Characters - 8
There's lots of relationships between women, women in leadership roles, and women with complex personalities. The city leader was a great blend of calculating and cruel vs. protective and generous
Production - 7
It did not get in the way. Limited sets and shooting outdoors, everything was shot fairly straight on, costuming was lower budget but in good taste.

A lighthearted but well acted rom-com

I think it’s lighthearted and fun most of the time but still has enough actual drama to not bore you and keep you interested. Not an amazing drama plotwise, but was also not completely predictable or repetitive. I didn’t particularly enjoy the characters, since I didn’t find them to be memorable or different than usual, but they were still developed nicely and were more endearing and likable than boring or irritating. The ending was a bit underwhelming but it’s fine. I think what I enjoyed most was the acting, the actorS did a really good job and had a lot of chemistry! A nice drama to watch when you don’t want to watch anything too heavy :)

He Fell First, He Fell Hard… I Didn’t Sleep Because of It ?

The Romance of Tiger and Rose — Review (0 or 10 Type of Viewer 😂)

When it comes to dramas, I’m the type of viewer who only has two ratings: 0 or 10. No in-between. No “it was good but…” or “it would’ve been better if…”—none of that 😂

Because honestly, what’s the point of watching?
To criticize every little detail… or to actually enjoy the story?

And The Romance of Tiger and Rose?
For me, this is a solid 10

Now, I know some people might say the plot is not unique, or that it feels repetitive—a writer transported into her own script, trying to survive while changing the storyline. I get that. I really do.

But for me? Once I’m entertained, I’m in. No “what ifs, what could've been.” I either love it or I don’t—and I LOVED this.

At first, it felt like a short drama—fast-paced, a bit unserious, almost like a parody of historical dramas. But that’s exactly what made it so refreshing. Especially if you’re coming from heavy, emotionally draining series, this feels like a complete reset.

And the best part?

Han Shuo.

This man was head over heels from early on 😭
Like, FULL ON. No hesitation. No confusion.

👉 Loyal
👉 Protective
👉 Soft only for her
👉 A total SIMP (and I mean that in the best way possible 😂)

Watching him fall first and fall HARD while
Chen Qianqian was still stuck in “this is just a script” mode made everything even more entertaining. And when she finally realizes her feelings? That shift was so satisfying.

I even lost sleep because I was enjoying it so much 😂

If I had to point out one thing, I just wish we got more scenes in the modern world towards the end—maybe even just one full episode of them outside the script. That would’ve been perfect.

And of course, Zhao Lusi never disappoints. From Who Rules the World to Love Like the Galaxy and now this, she’s consistently amazing. I really hope she continues doing more projects (and stays healthy 💖).

So yes, others might critique the plot or say it’s predictable…

But for me?

👉 If I enjoy it, it’s a 10.
👉 And this one? Definitely a 10/10.

No explanations needed 😂

Wholeheartedly enjoyed this series

It's a very funny, light series. The FL is smart, funny and witty. The ML starts as a grumpy tiger, but ends as a purring cat. The costumes could have been better, the music isn't remarkable, but the chemistry of the leads makes up for it. There should be a "love triangle" in the story, but the 2nd ML feels more like furniture in the overall picture, than a relationship threat. Binged it over the weekend. Loved the ending.

I dont care what other says this is one of the best chinese drama I’ve watched

I don’t think the female lead was annoying, just kinda hater how she neglected the male lead. I understand that she literally got dropped to a uh time and place she doesn't know and she’s lost, the last thing she can afford was romance in my opinion but like given the situations she was in I bet we would’ve been like the same...
Anyways the romance was good asf i mean the way the male lead looks at the female lead just makes my heart flutter and while they were sitting down near a table his eyes followed his hand and i thought that was just romantic and heartwarming i love these kind of details!
And woo the ending wasn’t flawed like most chinese or even korean drama’s i dont feel any regret for this drama i think everything went well and it was entertaining, gotta say i found myself barely skipping some of the scenes and that’s rare. I also love it when a drama makes me be like ‘omigosh thats so embarrassing! WHat are they doing! Ahaha’ and than I’ll turn off thee device I’m watching it from to just freak out than come right back to watch! But i didnt even notice the music i think it would’ve been better if the music was good i might have to listen to the music and come back to edit c; you should give this drama a chance

Fluffy and enjoyable

If you want something light and hilarious this is your show. I watched it in 3 days. Very enjoyable without the usual unnecessary dragging that most dramas insist on. 24 episodes nicely wrapped up everything and kept the pace going. Love triangles or squares, seriously get on my last nerves and it was also the case here.

It was refreshing to have a storyline with strong female characters (mulan ref had me cracking up).

Ive said all I wanted to say but mydrama list keeps saying my word count is not enough so you can stop reading. I am now just wasting characters.

Hilarious and funny romcom, worth watching

This drama was so funny and enjoyable to watch and I really recommend it. It had an amazing and interesting plots, with a few unexpected plot twists. I really like both the female lead and male lead, their chemistry was very good.

I laughted every time she summoned the writers (?) and used fruits as examples, banana, apple and orange lol. I really hated the sister, she was so evil and greedy. The main leads mother, kind of referred to Hua Mulan also which I think is very creative and interesting. I was actually shocked when I she told Qian Qian her last name. The ending was so sad, I dont't mean when they meet each other in the real world, but when she was going to be the queen.

I'm actually very excited to watch season 2 and I really hope that it will have the same main leads, Zhao Lusi and Ryan Ding. It was my first time seeing Ryan Ding in a drama but I think that he is a very good actor and I hope that they get to be leads in an another cdrama.

As long as you don't take it seriously, it's an entertaining watch

STORY
The drama did well when it was funny but failed when it tried to be serious, especially in the latter half when the conflicts and love triangle became melodramatic and tiresome. First half was definitely more entertaining than second half for me, which dragged out some storylines way too long.

One of the issues I had with the story was the constant misunderstandings between the leads. It served the humor initially, but it eventually led to some significant conflicts between the leads later on that were frustrating to watch. There was just a bit too much push-and-pull from the female lead in the second half of the drama just when we thought we could finally have them happy together. I also wish the romance between the leads was fleshed out more in the beginning to make the male lead's love and devotion more convincing.

Another thing that bothered me was the second male lead. His desperation and clinginess were exasperating to watch, especially after the female lead had already turned him down repeatedly. He could've been a more interesting character by having his character focus on embodying gender empowerment in the story, but his gender empowerment came too easy and his romance storyline made him look really pathetic. I disliked his character the most and found him unpleasant to watch onscreen.

ACTING/CAST
Zhao Lusi was super entertaining in this drama and her dynamic with Ding Yuxi was funny. Ding Yuxi doesn't shine as much in this drama compared to his recent works (he has improved so much in the past four years), but I appreciate that he was able to hold his own alongside Zhao Lusi.

The rest of the cast kind of just had the stereotypical period drama acting, but shoutout to the two guys who played the servants Zi Rui and Bai Ji. They were hilarious!

MUSIC
The OST doesn't really stand out. I recall there were some songs played that I felt didn't match the tone or theme of the story.

REWATCH VALUE
The story isn't something that would compel me to watch it entirely again, but I wouldn't mind re-watching the first half for the funny antics between Ding Yuxi and Zhao Lusi.

OVERALL
If you don’t take the story too seriously, this drama is an entertaining watch. Keep your expectations light, and you'll probably enjoy it.
