A perfect Romantic Comedy

This is my first review here. That means this series made me do something that I usually don't. Story wise it is very basic. Pretend relationship into real relationship is an overused drama trope.

When I started watching this series, I was quite confused by Sarawat's expression to the point I thought he was such a bad actor. But the big reveal in the episode 11 made everything so clear. So don't drop it if you are getting confused. I can't count how many times I rewatched the previous episodes and Sarawat's expressions made so much sense to me. Tine is damn cute.

I loved the fluff and the lovey dovey moments. This is definitely going to be one of my favourite series of all time.

Those who enjoy mature content in BL may stay away from this one. This series is mostly about portraying how a crush develops into a beautiful relationship and very fluffy moments.

My Thoughts on "2gether"

I really enjoyed this series! I was pretty late to tuning in, so a few parts were spoiled, but I still found enjoyment despite that. For this being the first Asian LGBT+ show I've watched, it was pretty good!

If I had to choose what my favorite thing about this show is, I'd have to say the characters. It was fun watching them change as the episodes went on, especially Tine's elder brother Type. Watching him grow was just amazing. I quickly found him becoming my favorite character.

My least favorite thing about the show would have to be the music. I did not enjoy having the same band pushed into my face over and over as the show progressed. Like, I get that Tine and Sarawat liked that band but come on! Variety is the spice of life boys!

Anyways, I can say that this show has allowed me to become more involved in Thai shows and I'm thankful for that. Now I have even more shows to binge over the course of this pandemic ~

You never forget it

Okay, so I've read a few reviews and in general there seems to be consensus that this show started of really strong and then sort of faded away as the episodes progressed. But this is/was the first BL I ever watched and it got me totally hooked, the characters are silly and relatively likable. I found the conflicts in the serious to be somewhat unreasonable but since watching more series I have noted that that is a relatively normal thing, suppose it is just my western viewpoint of it. There were some small plot holes and continuity errors, but still is and always will be my favourite BL series.

as you can see i didn’t give less than 8 stars, because there is nothing wrong with the story, the cast, the music and rewatch value, but something that really annoys me is that the last episode was filmed in the beginning like why would you do that? A lot of people complained because of the lack of chemistry and I think the producer should’ve known that since the beginning. I’m literally so sad, because this show had so much potential and there was no such thing as rape or something in it. I really wanted Sarawat and Tine to be together and was happy for them, but when people say that their chemistry was better before that, I agree. Also in the novel Pam was so nice and cute.. why would you change her whole personality? It’s the little things that annoy me.. when Tine collapsed, Sarawat was the one who drove him to the hospital, it wasn’t Mil. I’m not even disappointed that there was no kiss, because i don’t really care, but a bro high five??? Also I think the show wouldn’t got as much love as now when there would be a different cast.. There are so many people who only watched 2gether, because of the visuals of Bright and Win.
One thing which also was really disappointing is the storyline of Mil and Phukong. When I heard that Drake and Frank are gonna be in this series as a couple I screamed soo much, but their ending was so disappointing and rushed.
Personally I would have loved to see a little bit more of Tine and Sarawat’s friends, especially Fong. He was the best friend Tine could ask for and he didn’t got any appreciation.
I love all the actors and actresses, but the production was not good towards the end.
I’ve always waited for the next episode with joy and I follow Bright and Win since August 2019, but the last episodes were such a disappointment..
Also I always rewatched the new episodes over and over again, but the latest episodes I didn’t even dare to do that, because I was just so sad.

I understand why people might like it so much

It took me some time to finally give the show a chance. First, I didn’t like the original trailer when I watched it a while back (but it did do some things better than the actual show). Besides, I’d heard from people that don’t completely adore the series, that the last few episodes are not that great, and I agree.

What 2gether does right, in my opinion, is developing the relationship early on. We don’t have a enemies to lovers story nor someone trying to take advantage of the other person. And thankfully we don’t have a crazy ex doing insane stuff to break the main couple up. A positive aspect of the series is that the main couple doesn’t follow the basic recipe of opposite roles, usually with a dash of stereotype. We don’t have a delicate/strong or shy/popular typical main couple. The actors could be flipped and the show would run exactly the same. I like Bright and Win together on screen. I don’t particularly feel romantic chemistry, but I think it works well enough for the show. The slow burn romance also contributed to the feeling that they got more comfortable with each other as scene parters, while the characters get closer.

But after the slow burn and quite unproblematic first 2/3 is the show. I feel like the last 3/4 episodes belong to a diferente show. I don’t know if the writers didn’t know how to write happy moments or if they got rushed into completing the show. The “challenges” Tine and Wat face towards the end of the show come out of left field and kinda make the show be more unoriginal. The last batch of episodes is based on a few very common plot devices that don’t fit with the earlier moments. We get a love rival, an older brother that doesn’t approve the couple and a girl from the past that has feelings for one of the main guys. It’s a miracle we didn’t get the “someone is traveling to another country” cliche too.

Type is also part of my other big problem with the show, the side characters. None of the supporting characters have motivations or plots. Even the two side couples don’t get much development. We get introduced to the possibility of Type and Man early on, but nothing happens for quite some time. Then it’s all rushed in a couple of episodes. It’s just as forced as Mil and Phukong. The show obviously knows that people like Drake and Frank together. So, I feel like, they thought that people wouldn’t mind that they barely talk to each other and are together in the end. The story around their couple is the only thing I think the trailer we did better. In the original trailer we got a fight between them and Phukong confessing his feelings. That kind of turning point is missing in the actual show. Mil is trying to get together with Tine for 99% of the show and then suddenly he realizes he’s got feelings for Phukong because we needed them together in the ends, for the fans.

For a show so based on music, I feel like the songs are not all that incredible. But I like how it looks and sound like the actors are actually singing and playing on screen, and it’s not studio like perfect.

2gther folllws Tine who is being approached romantically by Green, and to get rid of him he ends up asking Sarawat to fake date him. A pretty simple plot, which is not a bad thing when is done well and this series does it. The main reason this series shines is because of the spectacular work of the cast, from the leads to the supporting cast. The supporting cast was excellent throughout the series, they were really a joy to see even when the leads weren't on screen.

Still it is the leads who really make this show shine, both are so good in their roles. Even with the lack of experience acting they did great. This lack of experience you could tell in scenes that required more emotion, bit that's just being nitpicky since there was not an explicit scene where you could say there was bad acting involved.

The one thing that did bother me were the last couple of episodes, it really felt like the series was 2 episodes too long. The last 3 episodes compared to earlier episodes weren't as good, and the last episode also felt a bit dissapointing. Overall this was such a fun and cute story to watch that I really would reccomend to anyone. With the popularity of the show it wouldn't surprise me that fans will wish for a second season, but the reality is most times the sequel to a really excellent series is as good. Instead it wishing a second season I would just wish to see both actors get even more acting projects in the future.

2gether is good if you are looking for a fluffy and light drama.
The storyline is not that complex and is easy to follow. There are a few comedic aspects as well which add to the overall charm of the series.
The main storyline and interactions between characters match the novel reasonably well. There are some bits that I was disappointed they didn't add in the series as well as the heightened involvement of Pam (I won't go into detail in case you haven't seen it) but it's still a cute series to watch.
The side characters didn't get that much screentime but there were some cute side relationships that developed quite nicely.
Despite being Win's first drama, he did very well, especially as he was playing the main character. Bright was also very good (of course).
There was not a lot of contact between the two main characters, which was probably because it was is first BL for both actors. They did, however, have good chemistry which made up for this.

I really liked it... but...

I didn't expect this review to be this long but bear with me.

So... the show is good and, I loved the characters and their chemistry was really good. I loved Sarawat sassiness and I'm happy that a found a show that could actually entertain me, that's why gave it an 8.5.

However, some things didn't sit right with me.

1. Girls in the show are these crazy people that when they see a handsome boy they freak out and start taking pictures... I don't really know what happens in Asia, but I know they preach beauty all the time, and I mean, are beautiful people harassed like that?... probably it is over-exaggeration, but I didn't like it that much.

2. Shows and movies are art, and there is no need to intimate scenes between couples if it is justifiable, but they are literally teasing the viewer the whole show for just like 2 or 3 kisses... I suppose it is for people to watch season 2.

3. Why is Tine dating Sarawat, publicly admitting it, but feeling this kinda o disgust of him? I mean we're a couple, right? Reacting to Sarawat wanting to get intimate as being nasty, I feel is kinda wrong (I know having sex is called "doing the nasty", but this expression is usually used in jokes). If you don't want to do the "nasty" why are you dating him? intimacy is part of the relation. Even though viewers are probably either girls or gays, I don't feel it is right.

4. This is something that I saw not only in this show but, why can I hear the microphones?! I'm literally Gia Gunn: "there is no budget this time around?". Ahahaha

And finally, why I always get offended by the characters wanting to lighten their skin? In the show, we are bombarded with ads for skincare, and I have nothing against it. But the characters are literally taking glutathione, claiming it provides beautiful skin (I watched a dermatologist video on that and it seems that glutathione can possibly improve wrinkles and whatever) but we all know that the reason people in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and The Philipines take these pills is to lighten their skin. I have brown skin, so I'm kind of offended.

Disclaimer: these are my opinions.

Very good

This kinda spoils it but it’s a review you were warned

Story: The story was pretty basic, but the delivery of it was great, except for the end where Tine has the whole break up with Sarawat phase which was baseless? he saw them hugging and instantly jumped to conclusions which was off for me considering how light hearted the entire show and relationship have been. Completely forgot about Til and Phukong because the storyline was unnecessary and contributed virtually nothing to the story other than having a rival love interest, even though Til just acted like a creep half the time.
-
Cast: I haven’t seen these actors before, so it was a nice change. Bright was by far my favorite, his mannerisms and delivery was on point the entire show. towards the end Win lost a bit of his character, he went from being a confident player to just being focused on Sarawat. That’s more of the writers fault for erasing some of his fun-loving character so i can’t fault Win on it. Overall i feel their chemistry was great. the supporting actors also did a fantastic job. i say this although i skipped the entire subplot of tine’s brother and that one guy since it was boring (to me). overall great cast.
-
Music: loved the music, every time Win and Bright would sing or play guitar was the best part of the episode for me, and the soundtrack was great for the whole show.
-
Rewatch Value: somewhat high rewatch value, mainly just because Tine and Sarawat scenes were so adorable. other than that the storyline is pretty basic so there’s not much note taking to be done.

Overall it was a great show with a fantastic soundtrack and performance. However the ending seemed like a last ditch effort to give Mil a reason to be in the show, considering he was just put in there towards the end and contributed virtually nothing. Maybe i’m biased because i dislike rival love interest plots.

AMAZING!!!

This was one of my favorite BL Dramas.

In the beginning, I was like "WTF, just tell him you don't like him and get it over with" but then I got used to it.

The development of the story was just spot on in my opinion. If I didn't know that they would end up together, I would have said that Wat was just messing around with Tine in the beginning, but that just made it even better.

I wish Tine would have been more open about his feelings towards his friends as well, but at the end of the day, some of us are truly affected by what other people think and want to please others, which is what Tine was doing.

I loved the SoundTrack, even though a tiny bit repetitive still nice.

The flashbacks, OMG I can't... they give so much more depth to the story... I loved it.

Everything from: the small gestures to prove Green that Tine is Wat's Boyfriend, Tne learning the guitar, the cute/silly photo at the concert, Tine seeing Wat naked, "I wanna grab your boobs", the fact that Tine is so oblivious until Wat kisses him, the song dedication, Wat's jealousy towards Mil, Tine realizing his feelings for Wat and expressing them to his friends, Tine defending Wat when he was beaten up, them moving in together, the trip to the woods, Tine and Wat under the rain was just ? and moreover them talking about their feelings, the whole Tine is sick and Pam situation was just heartbreaking, Tine CRYING!!!, Wat singing to Tine at the concert and them getting back together.
And all the kissing scenes ??... I was in love!!!

And the side stories were cute too:
1. Man-Type was so lovely. I ship them so much. For a man to go after his love like that. Kudos to him. You hold on to that Apple Pencil for dear life.
2. Phukong-Mil. I thought that it was good and mature. In the beginning, I thought that they'd hit it off right away, but it was slow and I liked it.

Overall this is a MUST WATCH!!!
Even though I would have loved to see more intimacy, still I loved the subtle things that they did. I was much more attracted to the story than some lusty kisses or touches. PERFECT!!!

I’m going to make this simple

I enjoyed watching this. I really did. Although I didn’t understand how Tine could suddenly change his sexuality up so quickly or how messed up the plot line is, it’s still well done and the acting Bright did with what he had was perfect.
I would be a simp for Tine too ;)
The jealously was stretched but needed. Very fluffy and I’m going come out and say, I liked Man and Type’s (Tine’s brother) relationship more lol
What was going on with Phukong and Drake??
Definitely recommend :3
And this gained most of it’s fame by Bright and Win being the definition of a Bromance that kissed just once- maybe twice

My first ever BL and got me hooked !

No need to expect Oscar worthy storyline and acting, you just need a light romcom that can make you warm and fuzzy, that’s all.
The story itself is easy to follow and still make me wonder what will happen next. That’s enough for me to got me hooked.
The acting could be better but this is BL what do u expect? What’s important for me is the chemistry, and boy oh boy, both Bright and Win deliver such great chemistry no doubt!
The music IS PERFECT !!! I really like the soundtracks and how they put music in each scene. Scrubb has many great songs.
Overall, I’ve been watching rerun for quite sometime now, waiting for the special episodes. Each sweet moments in this series just make me wanting for more ❤️
