Intense show, but worth a watch

The plot is nothing new to westerners because we see stuff like this all the time on T.V. But the way the story was executed made all the difference. Each episode is filled with the perfect amount of suspense and intrigue to keep you wondering what happens next. Trust me when I say that this is not a show to be binge-watched. Waiting every week to see how things play out is good way to approach a show like this. The facial expressions and how the characters behave around each other is something to pay attention to because it makes the show more intense. I didn't watch the remake of this so I came in knowing nothing and I'm glad for that. It's really intense, but I LOVE it.

3 episodes. Only 3 episodes. It took only 3 episodes for me to rate and review this drama. No wonder its currently on the top spot in South Korea. This is a mature drama for a mature audience and mature audience only. This not for those looking for a handsome oppa or looking for a latest crash. This is a drama addressing real life issues and challenges in matrimony. This drama focuses on infidelity and divorce and these are very deep and heavy subjects.
If you want a wake up call and face reality away from all the drool and ogling then this the drama to watch. If you are looking for eye candy i suggest you look for Lee Min Ho 's current drama. I bet there is a lot of eye candy there.
So if you are into mature real life drama then grab a box of tissues and a tub of ice cream. I think my heart stopped numerous times watching just these 3 episodes and i know there is more heartbreak in store for me.
I will be updating this post as my binge watch progresses. I will not start a new review all together.
Enjoy...oops better i say watch your heart and remember to pick up your jaw from the ground. These 3 episodes had my jaw locked in open position.

This drama is so damn good!!! Affairs is common in kdrama land but this drama add an interesting flavor in story and every episode is such a bomb ?? only six episodes are finished so far but it like it's already ending. Not a typical cheating story, the writers are freaking good.
I like everything about this drama, their camera angle, cinematography, edting skills, acting etc. are all perfect. This deserved many awards in the future especially Kim hee ae, she always amazing in every drama!!!

a gripping and chaotic story.

watched this with mom and she's so picky, but she was hooked! and honestly me too.

While I was a bit hesitant in the beginning, I was receiving a couple of confusing vibes from it, it felt like it was going in circles longer than it was necessary, but then started progressing in an interesting and well structured pace so while I kept watching and enjoying it more and more, then I found myself loving the dialogues and how well and intricate the scenes looked and felt as a whole, everything was calculated and had a purpose, so it was an effective development between the story and the characters.

The themes were very interesting and while some people may find it a bit niche in the end I think it leaves a mark, in the way relationships and break ups can have a huge impact and it's like a butterfly effect, and when there are kids and a family in the middle of a transitional period it can be very tricky to manage, revenge, power, egos, trust and personal habits can get in the way, and if those involved get blindsided... things can quickly go wrong and turn dangerous, it made me think about how important is to choose our families and our close community who are meant to be a support, it was complex and it was showcased in a very interesting and nuanced way, I really liked it.

Cinematography, music, and acting were truly so good, from the colorful sceneries to the rough winter scenes, the styling and settings, the beautiful somber music and everyone who worked hard to convey their characters, bravo.

It all came together and while this may not be a story for everyone, I found it gripping and suspenseful, i think it's worth watching and really enjoyable, I'll recommend this in the future.

Sooo I finally watched this one! Let's say that EVERYONE around me recommended it, and well, it had huge ratings!
I had high expectations because of this, and overall it was an enjoyable drama. I got out of my comfort zone -as I never cared a lot about the family, romance, melodramatic content..- but this one was definitely worth it for starters.

This show really got on my nerves, I couldn't stand most of the characters (to not say any). But, I'm glad things got better by the final episodes and Sunwoo got the peace of mind she deserved (well, in the last scene literally). Also, glad that her friends got their happy endings!

I did get annoyed @ the writers because many things felt too unreal to be true. I mean, I know Korea is indeed a conservative nation but I hardly think people are THIS opposed to the idea of a couple divorcing, right? Plus, we get to see the trope of the child being forced not to see his other side of the family because their parents get divorced, which is ridiculous...
And speaking of their son (Joonyoung), I literally hated him so much. You can't be this naive, you're a grown up already! He just.. completely ignored the fact that his dad was abusive and hated his mom just 'cause she was a little overprotective. What the hell? And then.. he just changed his mind one second to another because his father hit him, then going back to his mom just like that..? Their parents were too good on him honestly. I would've lost my shit, I swear.
But again, he did have some good character development, so I'm happy with that.

I ended up pitying Tae-Oh. Which is weird because he is an awful person. I'm glad Dakyung moved on, though it doesn't seem like she actually learned anything at all, lmao. But I guess to each their own. We never got to see what happened with their baby, though. Lol.
I'm sad we didn't see Hyunseo in the last episodes, I wish she had continued her relationship with Sunwoo because they make a great team (-also, such a relief to know that her toxic ex boyfriend is rotting in hell!).

And finally, about Yoonki, I'm actually happy that he didn't end up with Sunwoo. I mean, it looks like they would be an awesome couple, but I think what Sunwoo needed the most was to love herself and not depend on other people to feel enough. Ultimately, I think that's the message the staff behind The World of the Married wanted to give: marrying isn't the only option you have in life. You don't need a person next to you to feel fulfilled. You ARE enough!

8.5/10

The way in which this whole drama was structured is simply impeccable, all the cases were connected in some way at all times and it was extremely important to understand the end of it as unexpectedly.

The big move was that during the divorce process, both had a moment when one was on top and the other was underneath, which was just when one of them was in possession of his son. And it took both of them to be down for the hell to end once and for all.

The married world has shown in different perspectives through its couples that the consequences of a divorce are the result of their own choices

PERFECT!!

this is one of the most impactful dramas ive ever watched. i now have put all upcoming dramas to a higher standard. not cliche at all, in fact the plot alone is one for the books. Its a plot ive never seen before but im sure a lot of people can relate to in some aspects. The cast played their roles very well and made it realistic. I strongly suggest you give it a chance if you like mature dramas. I couldnt believe almost every drama had a crazy plot twist that had me dying to watch the next episode and cliff hangers have are almost torture if its 3AM and you have to get sleep for work and cant watch anymore.

The past weeks has been really a rollercoaster with this drama, when you think thing's can't get any worse BAM! In your face.

NOW LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME CHARACTERS.

Sun Woo's Friends:

They were fake af.There's no simpler way to put it. Now, probably they thought that they were doing Sun Woo good by keeping her in the dark but in reality they just added more gas to the fire. Friendship is built on Trust, honesty & loyalty the fact that they were lacking these 3 says alot. They had no reason to keep this secret from her. Imagine you laughing and eating with people thinking all is good and well and then later find out they took you for a fool all the while, that is very hurtful.
Ye Rim finally came to her senses because the same was happening to her. Her husband treated her poorly, cheated on her countless times but she wanted to paint a perfect picture of a married couple that nothings wrong because she had no solid evidence. Little did she know no marriage is perfect.
I felt for her because she was living in hell when she decided to start afresh with her husband but when that trust is broken you will always live in fear, always think your spouse is hiding something from you. In the end she made the right decision to go separate ways. A peace of mind is significantly better than losing your mind.
Myung Sook was power hungry, nothing more nothing less.
At the end they both admitted to their mistakes and rekindled their friendship which was good.

Joon Young

A normal teenage brat if you don't look beyond his behavior. All he wanted was a normal life like the rest. He was confused and suffering bad, suffering more than his parents. If you really look at it there were no parent he could actually go to and talk. His father only cared about his ego and his MOM was blinded by betrayal seeking revenge that she couldn't see her son was suffering. His outrage was a cry for attention. In Divorce, children will always be the most affected. I pity him, however I felt at ease when he returned to his MOM in the end.

Da Kyung

A pitiful young lady that was blinded by "love".
She's pitiful but worthless at the same time. Provokeful and subconsciously destroyed a family all in the name of love. T.O had a way with words & she being a rich brat and daddy's girl always getting what she wanted thought that he genuinely loved her. Come to think of it she was delusional as well because no one in their right mind would commit infidelity breaking up a family and expect to live a happy ever after like a Disney movie. Not in this real world, consequences have to be paid. I'm not sorry for her I just pity that she allowed a good dor nothing to manipulate her.

Lee Tae oh

A narcissistic, pathetic human being. Ugh he was so horrible in many ways. A liar, a manipulator, a cheater, a murderer, a thief and a gold digger. He used his wife to the brim. He wanted to have it all, he felt that he did no wrong all he cared for was money and power. Imo he impregnated Dk so that he could sneak his way into her family's money. He was not an attentive father he never really played with his daughter and he only attended his son event when it benefited. He got what he deserved in the end. NOTHING.
There's a famous saying in my country "you never miss the water till the well runs dry" that well was his wife.

Sun Woo
A very strong, diligent and classy woman. Yes she has done things that I did not agree with, one being sleeping with her friend husband for revenge. That was really low of her IMO, you can't fight fire with fire it will only create a greater flame that's difficult to put out. She's been through hell and back with with people in her community, being laughed at, humiliated, demoted and the list goes on. Everything She broke down eventually but the good thing about it is that she did not stay down, she got up and get things done that she thought was best for her family, her son. I want to believe She liked the doctor but she was not ready to be any relationship because as she said: "I'm sick if men."

Overview

It's an exceptional well planned and written drama. The cast portrayed the characters perfectly, there were no loopholes left everything intertwined perfectly. I was not familiar with the actress Kim Hee Ae but judging by this drama I hope she win an award. Her acting was A1 she really brought Sun Woo to live.
I really enjoyed it. I rated it a solid 9 and highly recommend it.
The ost "SAD" is my favourite and it also sums up the whole drama.

Memorable quote: life can't be sweet all the time you just somehow hang in there, that's all. Then you'll find some days to be sunny. That's how time will pass.

So overrated, I won't recommand anyone to watch it...

So it's been since its release that I've wanted to watch it yet couldn't because I couldn't find somewhere to watch it... Now I've found a site and went on it.
What I can conclude is that it's really so overrated. Why ?
First episode, the story was somehow engaging yet very slow but since I've been watching series for a long time now I know that waiting until episode 2 can sometimes be worth it so I gave it a shot.
I was really disappointed throughout the whole watching down to the fifth one... FL could have gained my sympathy if she didn't went to sleep with a married man, her neighboor. I don't blame her for wanting to let herself live when she's getting cheated on by her 'husband', on the contrary ! But when you do exactly the same thing for what you blame your husband, I mean- She should have gone with someone single. Plus like I hate the neighbour and his wife since he was a douchebag to his wife, always looking down at her, ignoring her and even humiliating her in front of their friends and her was somehow shady, like she knew everything that was going on with Tae-Oh yet didn't want to tell Sun woo unless when it was at her advantage to leak the info. Yet nobody deserves that.

FL... I was rooting for her for like the two first episodes but then she started seriously getting on my nerves. She was doing too much back and forth moves in her 'revenge'. Like at some point it was just ridiculous. I get there are many things to think of and hard choices to make when you are planning to get divorced from your fake a** husband but when you act so dumb atp it's on another level. She decides something for her revenge's sake and then soon after pheww she forgets abt it more likely writers throw avenge ideas and then take them back and move on another overdramatic plot twist 'to keep us on edge'..

Then the son of the couple. He is so selfish... He knew everything yet let his mother suffer eventhough he could clearly see something was off. He could have discussed the things out eventho he is in middle school right ?

Tae Oh's friends straight to the bin. They badmouth him ? as good friends ofc (?) and like how can so many people know about him cheating and agree on keeping it a secret without actually trying to make Tae Oh come back to reason.

Also Tae Oh's mother is as twisted as her son. Not gonna spoil but bruh. Then another proof that Tae Oh is really messed up is that even on his relative's funeral, he went straight up kissing his mistress and all ?.

Shout out to the acting tho. The actors were very talented because I felt every single emotion they wanted to convey. I would even get very angry sometimes or frustratred lmao.

To conclude it could have been better with more elaboration. Also poor hyeon seo, I couldn't see how she ended up but Sun woo could have helped her way better. She started to do it then after I just felt like she was somehow using her for her own sake... I hope I just got it wrong because I really liked her.

WAIT A MINUTE! WOW!

I just finished watching episode 1, and I literally have one word for it ----> WOW! If you are interested in watching an action full melodrama full of twist and turns from beginning to end, you should definitely watch this. After the first 40 minutes of episode 1, the story picks up rather quickly.

One of the two con that I have is the behavior of the female and male lead, son! If I were 15 and I saw my father cheat on my mother, I would try to consider and protect my mother feelings (the victim). Instead it seemed like the son was only trying to protect his father, the cheater! Something is weird about episode 6, while the acting is good, it seems as if something is missing (like things escalated quickly without giving us an explanation). I also thought that the end of episode 6 was too dramatic, and the music didn't help. Two years passed by, what did she think would happen? Duh, marriage, delivery of the baby, and stability for their new family. The end of episode 12 is not realistic because of the words, not the actions. The second con, is the lack of accountability that the second female lead had (the one who slept with a married man).

This drama could have had 13 episodes, instead of 16.

VALEU A PENA?
