The start of Love 911 took me by surprise with its serious tone. I didn't bother reading the description as I had seen an MV of one of the OST and just assumed this was a simple comedy. Of course it's a comedy, but within the first few moments of the movie it's very clear that there is going to be more depth to this story.

A story of first love, moving on from old loves, loss, and responsibility. Yes responsibility. That last one is something movie viewers probably find the least bit interesting, and I appreciate it when a movie says, "Hey, you made a life altering mistake. You can't just shrug that kind of thing off. Take responsibility." The different kinds of love portrayed in Love 911 are complex and so real. From the devotions of friendship and comradeship to unrequited love, love lost and creating new love. It's a lot of love, and I enjoyed it.

You can tell that the cast had a great time filming this and it came into the movie so beautifully. This story isn't just about a lead man and woman and their love story. It's about the people around them and how their lives touch and shape others. To me an enjoyable story includes side characters that you can care about. Speaking of the lead man and woman, they have great characters with back story that makes both of them so believable. (Don't worry about it bogging down the story it's all paced well enough.)

However, like I said this is a comedy so you'll get plenty of laughs! It's a wonderful combination of humor, life lessons, and a great romance. Any romantic comedy fan is going to have a blast with this movie. That's not to say there aren't some plot flaws. (One questionable plot "twist" that is left open ended. Which I assume the writers a assumed the viewers would fill in the blank.) There are some predictable plot twists here, but there's enough originality to forgive all that. Plus, come on Firemen? How can you say no to that.

Love 911 has the typical Korean romcom formula. It isn’t cheesy, it has the dramatic factor common in Korean films and dramas, and it has the comical scenes that would make you roll with laughter. The plot isn’t as strong as I expected it to be but the main problem is that the leads have no chemistry. They don’t have the spark or the pull that drives the viewers crazy with giddiness. It was one of the reasons why I find the film mediocre.

Because I had a background in medicine, though not as extensive as doctors, there are things that are medical related in the film that I feel implausible. I know misdiagnosis happens but the way it was presented in the film seems unlikely. There are also so many issues left unresolved at the end. Pfff. I really wanted to like this. There are scenes that are good; the writers generally had an idea of what they wanted in the film. It was just poorly executed.

Three words: I LOVE IT!!!

Why did I never put this in my PTW list? Why was I never interested in watching this movie even though I’ve seen the poster at least 5 times? I decided to watch this movie in a whim since I’m in my romance movie marathon.

For your information, I think this is my first time watching Go Soo. And I’m... in LOVE! What a pleasant surprise to watch Go Soo in a romance movie, I really really enjoyed watching him in this movie. Every casts, literally everyone was very very super duper good in this movie. I would like to see more of Ma Dong Seok in a romcom, please! I love love love the casts and every characters here. Bear with Han Hyo Joo’s irritating character in the first 30-40 minutes please, I’m sure her character development will satisfy you!

The romance... YES YES YES!!! I was actually disappointed midway since I thought that the main leads fall in love too fast after all the love-hate relationship. But.... the angst came up shortly afterwards and I was super duper satisfied with the storyline. It made me feel like I’m in a rollercoa aster ride. I was amazed that the comedy was great and actually funny, and how the story managed to make me teary-eyed at times too. Rarely happened to me when watching romcoms.

So, overall a 10/10! Angsty but fluffy with good-looking at excellent casts!! Mighty Ma Dong Seok become all cutie here in this movie. Prepare to laugh and prepare your hearts: fluffy content ahead! ♥️

I’m down with the flu, so instead of studying for my finals I have been watching a lot of films and series. That’s what you are supposed to do, right? Last night, I watched Love 911, a korean dramedy from 2012, starring Han Hyo-joo and Go Soo as leads, and with a really good and solid ensemble of supporting actors.

Mi-soo (Han Hyo-joo) is a doctor studying towards her goal to become a cardiothoracic surgeon and working through her residency. She has a tendency for being a smartass and quick judgement, but it backfires when she misdiagnosed a woman, whose husband she assumed to be an abusive thug. So when the patient takes a turn for the worse, the husband decided to sue.

Kang-il (Go Soo) is the epitome of the wounded hero. A former soldier now turned firefighter and widower. Despite having a great team of friends and co-wokers at the station, Kang-il refuses to move on with his life, carrying the guilt of his wife dying alone while he was busy saving others.

Fate and some machiavellians ways bring these two together. The relationship between Mi-soo and Kang-il didn’t feel forced, their chemistry is fiery since the first moment. Her carefree personality brings a much needed light tone to his brooding, and his way of taking everything serious gives her a newfound weight to every decision she makes and how they affect other people’s lives.

I enjoyed it was Mi-soo who very cheekly and endearingly pursued Kang-il first. That’s right, he was the one being wooed not the other way around. In this film you will find a leading lady, willing to take risks and rejection, but also in control of her life, not letting anyone tell her how to be proper. What’s more, this way she has, actually gets her out of almost all the troubles she starts.

Kang-il’s grief was harder to watch, mostly thanks to Go Soo’s acting, which carried a lot of weight through the film. You could feel his heartbreaking and denial to move on, even when he was clearly falling for someone else. But he had lighter moments too, like when he interacted with his friends or Mi-soo, and then you could see glimpses of the real Kang-il.

The rest of the cast it’s what really made the story so enjoyable to watch. Ma Dong-seok (Police Force 38, Train to Busan) is the adorable and though Chief, who behaves like an older brother and father figure at the same time. A true leader. And then you have Kim Sung-oh (Fight for My Way, My PS Partner) and Hyun Jyu-ni (IRIS, Descendants of the Sun) friendship-turned-romance which is both hilarious and endearing. My favorite part is the cameos from Jung Ji-hyun and Yang Dong-ge, the detectives who befriend Mi-soo at the police station.

Overall, Love 911 was a fun romance with enough gravity to have actual character development and a lovely message about the meaning of happiness and living your life.

Not bad but not good.

Honestly, I expected a bit more. Sadly, this was just average. I don't think the characters, especially Misoo was good. She was like a walking red flag. Adults acting like dumbass teens. They hardly did anything with his wife, who died. The story was all over the place.

The casting is amazing, but sadly the story wasn't at the same level.

This is a fantastic movie. I laughed, cried, and loved the entire thing. It's not a cheesy simple rom-com, it's filled with heartbreaking moments, and a beautiful ending. The entire cast is perfect, the suspense is well thought out and heart jerking, and it's beautifully acted. Both leads had good chemistry, and the supporting actors had pretty cute chemistry as well ;) This movie is 100% worth the watch.

She's a surgeon!??!

I REALLY struggled with this one. First, the female was so self-absorbed it wasn't even funny. She only cared about herself and furthering her career. She was not a likeable character, and everything she did smacked of self-interest in trying to save her own skin. Because everything she did was to benefit herself, I didn't buy the relationship until the very end, and even then, I was unable to point to when she started to like him. This also left me with the feeling that everything she did was a lie.

The male lead, however, was a man stuck in his grief, and the actor did an excellent job. I really enjoyed watching him coming out of that grief, yet he was really able to capture that survivor's guilt. I probably would have rated this even lower, if not for him.

I also took issue with a lot of the medical things. First, there is no way they would let her be a surgeon with the medical condition she had, especially since it's often brought on by stress. Then, the whole thing with the patient in the hospital that this story revolves around (don't want to give anything away) - there is no way the hospital could have or would have let that situation play out that way, and for that extended period of time.

To sum up, worth watching for the male lead actor/character. Thankfully it was a movie and not an episodic drama.

Once again, I was recommended this drama via a drama fan account on instagram, originally thinking that this was a drama series, but later found out that it was a movie included on Amazon Prime. Thank you, Amazon.

I've been recently into drama movies - they are quick and to the point and I don't need to binge watch a ton of episodes for the characters to finally stop acting super annoying and potentially fall in love. But I have realized after watching this movie that even though it does take maybe 7 episodes at 45 minutes a pop, I do enjoy the slow burning romance. I enjoyed everything about this movie, BUT I felt like, at least in the beginning, that I didn't believe in their romance. I believed in the main girl, that she gradually started to feel something towards the firefighter after he had saved her life, cute scene btw. But I didn't believe homeboy - he went from "I hate everyone and everything especially her" and "I am going to imagine homegirl as my dead wife in different situations" to "I really want to snuggle with her HARD and whisper sweets things about our future in her ear."

But I also feel like it added to the ending - their big fight was inevitable because I didn't feel much character change happened with them and they were so different. I am actually quite confused about how Kang-il went through any character change - it flew over my head completely, but everything hit Mi-Soo all at once with that intense hospital scene as well as finding out her illness. I really liked how after everything happened, she was able to confess everything without needing a response. She just wanted to say what she needed to say without any regrets. She pulled a complete 180 for me - I really didn't like her character in the beginning, but once she was able to step in someone else's shoes and that her actions effect others, she realized what she needed to do. The ending felt real though; you couldn't deny their connection with one another compared to the first time.

Plus, besides the romance, this movie was shot so well and because of their professions, him a firefighter and her a surgeon/paramedic, we got to see two different forms of intense situations which I loved deeply. It might be normal in these type of dramas or movies, but this is all new to me, and I loved everything about. The only thing I wasn't thrilled about in this drama was how irritating they both were in the beginning as if they have always acted that way and people never confronted them about it as well as how fast they got into their relationship the first time, at least on his end. It was like hot and cold for him. I know she liked him and went in full force, but for someone to grieve their dead wife and then hate to like someone almost seemed like he was using her in a way.

The movie started with a serious note but as the movie continues its funny and interesting.I had not seen Han Hyo Joo since w: two worlds and wanted to watch her in a movie. In the emergency room hyo joo (Mi soo) misdiagnosis a woman patient who falls critically ill after leaving the hospital. The wife’s husband returns to the hospital to extract his revenge on Mi Soo. and here enters our male lead Ko soo (Kang Il) .He is a firefighter and in process to calm the patient's husband,he gets hurt. In danger of losing her medical license, Mi-soo's lawyer advises her to convince Kang-il to testify against the patient's husband for an assault that occurred while the husband was in grief. She sets out to win Kang-il over by "dating him." but Kang IL is not interested in Mi soo's and is still getting over the death of his wife . slowly Kang Il and Mi soo connect and fall for each other.
What i liked the most is the female lead character unlike others she is not slow witted or weak but is sassy and knows how to get what she wants. whereas male lead is not fall for female lead's series of moves which leads to many comical scenes. the supporting cast of fire station crew were fun to watch. over all the story is light hearten and is pretty enjoyable.

This was a good movie. I only selected to watch this drama because of my DOTS withdrawals and it had a similar feel via description, so I watched it. It was a bit slow and not really DOTS, but it held me over until I found something else to watch. I do kind of wish there were more scenes of the MC interacting other than drinking at the bar late at night over dinner. The ending where [name of character I shall not reveal] almost dies in the collapsing of the basement breaks my heart...I cried. Overall, pretty good, just not something I'll rewatch because it was a bit slow and my feel wasn't my speed.

Laughed, Cried, Loved: A Feel-Good Ride Through Love and Loss

The start was solid, with the male lead grappling with the loss of his wife and the female lead, a doctor, facing a trial due to a misdiagnosis.
She needs the male lead to sue the patient's husband for her advantage.
However, he won't cooperate, having experienced the pain of losing a loved one. This already set up a funny situation that got me curious about what would happen next.?

She tries seduction, then intimidation, and it always ends in a humorous way. Despite knowing he's married and mourning, she persists, going all out, never giving up on seducing him. She keeps pestering him until she obviously falls for him too.

Their personalities and constant bickering were adorable. I couldn't get enough of their dynamic. The story made me smile, laugh, and even shed a tear.
It was genuinely good, and the ending was wonderfully sweet. Loved the overall vibe.

Who doesn't love a little romantic comedy now and again? I personally really enjoy some romcoms! SOME. I never made it through My Sassy Girl (the movie ofc) because it was just too much even if it had Jeon Ji Hyun and the lead male omo kill me now.
I'll admit I only initially watched this because of Han Hyo Joo...

Story (7.5):
The beginning has some antics to get the two leads together, one a firefighter and the other a doctor, and I don't think it felt cliche or contrived at all. Perhaps a little, but it was pretty refreshing and a bit comedic too.
Later on in the story I felt like I was watching a couple different movies, most notably the indie film Fireproof (EXACT SAME TRAIN SCENE I TELL YOU), and at the end of the movie I felt like some parts of the story line weren't fulfilled, but this is still a fun movie to watch regardless.

Acting/Cast (9.5):
Han Hyo Joo.
I was going to end this part here, but I guess I'll continue on. So, I kind of like Han Hyo Joo as an actress. I've seen her in a billion other things, like Dong Yi, Shining Inheritance, Always, etc. and I liked her in those; if you did too, then there's no way she'll disappoint here! The rest of the cast was pretty decent and some I felt were pretty topnotch even if I'd never seen them anywhere else. I've got to say, the husband of the brain dead woman really surprised me with his acting...

Music (7.0):
Meh. I grew up on Beethoven and Mozart; sue me, but nothing life-changing here. Fortunately it didn't stick out as bad either.

Rewatch Value (7.0):
I don't rewatch things very much, but I'd say given enough time I could easily rewatch this one.

Overall (8.0):
Maybe a bit optimistic of a score. I'd give it more of a 7.75, but I'll round up on this one since it was decent. I'll admit I was using that 10 second skip feature a little bit at parts, but it was worth the watch. Recommended especially to romcom and Han Hyo Joo fans!
