I am so proud of my Siwon for doing a weird role this time.

This is the kind of drama that becomes informative. It's the production side of the drama industry. I've learned a lot here and at the same time enjoyed the drama. It's a laughtrip kind and it promises to keep you out of boredom.

But halfway watching, I got that feeling of tiredness on the characters' side, where there are always these twists that aren't really fun and could really get tiring. But anyways..

There's Siwon to lighten up my mood. Being his biased fan, it was him who made me watch it. His last fluffy drama, where he played as an actor too, was a good one. Now it's an actor role again, only a really dumb but competitive one.

The main pairing is really fun to watch. The side story of Hyunmin and Minah being the stubborn actors fills in the comedy part. THE SOUNDTRACKS ARE DAEBAK TOO!! ?

The King of Dramas was a refreshing change from the usual Korean dramas because its focus was on the behind the scene word of the film industry in South Korea. I truly enjoyed the chemistry between the lead characters, Anthony Kim and Lee Eun Go. Their chemistry did not overwhelmed the drama's purpose. Even though the drama included some somber moments, they were soothed with the comedic antics and gestures among the characters.

It was full of suspense and the story is well written... I was just tired of watching rom/com dramas, so I decided to try this because of the good reviews... I was not sorry at all. Cho Si Won's part was kinda irritating after awhile (the actor in The Greatest Love - Cha Seung Won I think was better for this kind of role - he was not trying too hard, he made me seriously laugh). Makes me think of how dramas are really made and how demanding they are and how "fake" actors can just fake it in front of fans... The bad part, the fans fall for it and idolize them.

The King of Dramas is underrated. Sure, it's not a 10/10 flawless drama, but how hard are they to find! Around the middle of the series I did get distracted by other dramas instead, I'll admit that, but I am so grateful that I stuck with it until the end. The King of Dramas is a sweet, moving, and rewarding show.

I'll start with what flaws come to mind first, as I'm a 'bad before the good' sort of person:

- First of all, if - like me -, you're often attracted to dramas for the romance you will be in for a wait. I was really surprised to discover that the actual romance in the King of Dramas doesn't actually properly kick off until around...episode 12/13, if I remember right. There was a lot of drama about...well, making dramas haha, which I started to get bored of without any sparks of proper romance in the air. (I'm partly to blame for that though, as I was getting impatient!)

- There are a few shallow characters, not many, but one or two. For example there's your rather stereotypical antagonist, out for revenge and all that. While (without getting into spoilers), there's also an old flame character who comes off as pretty tedious too. At first.

Now for the good stuff! ALL THOSE FLAWS AMEND THEMSELVES!

+ Though a late bloomer, when the romance does properly come to light it's unbearably - in all the right ways - sweet and full of giggles. And so natural too. The connection between the characters is deep, and so so SO worth the wait <3

+ All the characters find their places. The somewhat two-dimensional old flame becomes a delight to see on-screen, and though the straight-forward antagonist doesn't exactly 'amend' himself you see less and less of him. Plus, when he shows up again right near the end he gave me one final laugh. It was a nice way to send him off; as if the writer had reflected upon him, and decided to poke a joke with us.

+ Anthony Kim and Kang Hyun Min are very memorable characters, though drastically different. Hyun Min is an endless source of entertainment, while the brusque, driven Anthony really grew on me with all his admirable passion - and amusing pride.

+ The ending. Yep, it ends well! In my books at least I'm going to count it as a good one. It paid a lot of homage to the start of the series, and held a lot of satisfaction and reminiscence. Though the 'old flame' character felt a tad...rushed? I guess? (The acting there was a little uncomfortable.) It was nonetheless tied up very well. It was very rewarding.

So, at the end of the day, if you're debating whether or not you should watch it, JUST DO IT! The characters are memorable, the story full of determination and passion, while as a whole it was very satisfying. It's not the best drama, to be sure - no Healer! - but by no means should that be reason to not give it a little faith and patience.

I've literally just finished watching it with a big grin on my face and a heart with no regrets.

This was a fun drama. The cast was fantastic, there isn't anyone that I thought shouldn't have been there, or didn't do a satisfactory job. Siwon in particular was so willing to make fun of himself, and be as stupid and over the top as possible, and it was hilarious. Good job Siwon! He basically carried the entire humour for the show. Maybe there were a couple of characters that could have done with some extra development (Sung Min Ah in particular), but that's the writing, not the acting.

The music was very pretty. There was one song that played during the scenes between the two leads, and it was very fitting. Not necessarily the lyrics, but the music. It just seemed right.

They had a lot of digs at the Korean entertainment industry. And I mean, a lot! After all, it's set behind the scenes of a TV drama, and boy, do they milk everything they can from that! I loved all of the references to little things we have heard about, but haven't seen criticised so heavily in a drama before. Like the end of year awards going to the actor/actress/show with the highest rating, not the person/show who actually deserves it.

I think the extension got to them a bit, and the ending was maybe a bit... silly and predictable (although not unexpected). But overall, a good watch.

This dramas strongest point is that, its realistic.

The acting, the chemistry is all very good and the story line always has something new to offer,so it keeps you hanging on to it after each episode.

Also the human nature is also very realistic in this drama.Th e bad guy isn't all bad,he has some good sides as well, and he doesn't change completely at one go but slowly, like how a normal person might change when they see how wrongly they have been leading their life...

I would recommend this drama to those, who like some drama, mind games and also funny moments and romance here and there... :)

(ps.I gave the "rewatch value" a 5 because its the kind of drama that wouldnt make it so fun when you know all the plot twists..)

I originally came into this drama for Si Won. I wanted to see how he acted in this drama, since he was still a rookie actor at the time. But I came to love the story & the actors in it. LOVED SI WON IN THIS DRAMA!

Story 8.5/10: Most of the drama was great. But near the end, was kind of unnecessary, but it was still good for the acting & conflict.

Acting 9/10: The acting was great. They all have comedic timing in this & laughed-out-loud so hard on some moments, especially Si Won's moments. I started to like the main leads, because I haven't seen the male lead in anything & I have seen the female lead in My name is Kim Sam Soon & I think she's a great actress. Si Won was amazing in this drama! That's all I have to say without spoiling it.

music 8/10: The music fitted the scenes well. The BGMs were memorable, some songs were not.

I would re-watch this drama if I want a really want to laugh out loud. 8/10

Overall, I recommend this drama if you like comedies & the actors & actresses.

I'm sorry for being so biased with my favorite Drama. I really can't give it less than 10 points.

It was exciting from beginning to end. You wouldn't know how it will end unless some love relationships ... ;)
I also really like Jung Ryeo Won, and she didn't disappoint me again and also her character was well made. (not the average sooo naive and dumb girl you know ;) )
Choi Siwon did some very good Comedy and Kim Myung Min played his character, of a selfmade and arrogant, but lonely man, very well.
I fell in love with the music too and could sing along soon ;)
I will watch it again.... and again :)

Anthony Kim is dubbed the King of Dramas. What made him become that king is his lacking scruples of spending money, kicking people out and risking something. He loves numbers and goes by them. But one day, a person dies because he was too eager to finish his drama. And with that, Anthony is kicked out of his production firm and dead in the drama industry. That is until three years later, he gets an offer. If he only had a script for a dark, ancient drama, that wasn't like all the other dramas... And that's where Lee Go Eun comes into the game. She wrote such a script, three years ago. But who knows if she is willing to work with Anthony Kim, the person, who made her loose her dream of becoming a script writer, because he was too eager.

This drama was interesting already, just by the fact that it shows how a drama is made. Add the good actors and the story to it and it can only become better. It isn't centered on the romance, more on the development of the characters. I felt like they grew and changed so much from the first episode until the last. Of course, a character like Anthony is supposed to change. But even all the other characters didn't just stay the way they are. It made the drama seem very real and I got attached to it because of that. Even if we look at the side characters, we can see them develop, grow and change.

I especially loved the acting in this one. Siwon might not be perfect (acting wise), but his character just fit so perfect into that role! He was hilarious but serious at the right times. Just as they needed it.

But even though I say this drama is a masterpiece, there is something bad as well. If there are problems in producing a drama, I understand that. I understand, that everybody tried to keep Anthony down, keep him from producing another drama. But that's material for the first three, maximum four episodes. It can't be, that they are still fighting over producing basics up to episode 8. I got bored of it and was so happy, when it ended. Of course the problems were exciting and different from each. Unexpected, so to say. But annoying. It dragged the good story a bit.

Aside from that, I really enjoyed watching it.

I would recommend it to you, if you like Siwon, want to know how dramas are made and how strict the entertainment business is. But also, if you want a nice romance story, that isn't over the top but rather real.

well it starts kind of slow but it builds up and it gets you hooked really good. I liked the ending that was good but realistic... kind of... Also to all Siwon fans out there... though a supporting role he steals the spotlight because he is unbelievably hilarious!!!! All in all a very good choice to watch but don't let the slow beginning gets you down... continue to watch and you won't regret!

Smart, funny, a pleasure to watch

This show is an absolute blast. What impressed me most is how it managed to work so well as a spoof/meta commentary on kdrama conventions without diminishing the stakes and power of its story. It's so consistently funny and and creative and exciting while also still having emotional heft during the moments when it goes for earnest sincerity. A drama Anthony himself would have been proud to produce. I'll never look at orange juice the same way again.

I only watched coz of kim myung min. Love him and his deep voice. The show dint start out great i mean it was abit slow and as it progressed it got better. Its a drama within a drama so i was basing my rating on the inside drama. Siwon was annoying in in but u vouldnt get rid of him. The story was nice it had less romantic scenes mostly drama action and lots of betrayal. The ending was fitting and satisfying.
