The Funniest Narcissistic Idiotic Moron Ever
This is one of the funniest dramas I’ve ever watched. At the beginning, I found it comedic and thought I wouldn’t like it. After the first episode, I couldn’t stop watching and laughing because it’s so hilarious. The narcissism is idiotic but at the same time so so cute.Mu Jue Chen (Fiction Guo) is a narcissistic youth who is so absorbed into himself that whatever negatives would become positives in his mind. Everyone around him brushes his ego but rolls their eyes and curses him behind his back. All his actions and demeanor are bombastic and egregious. This drama has the most eye rolls and the Mu Jue Chen character is the most egoistic person that I’ve ever come across and it’s super funny. I must applaud Fiction Guo for his amazing acting as Mu Jue Chen. I have almost believed that Mu Jue Chen is Fiction Guo because the actor has really immersed himself into the character totally.
Qian Yu (Li Nuo) is the only person who knows Mu Jue Chen inside out; she knows all his strengths and weaknesses, and knows how to capitalize on this knowledge to her advantage. Though seemingly a lord and servant relationship, there is more to the relationship that is not revealed at the beginning. Li Nuo plays her character well as a submissive servant and then later as a powerful head of the valley.
By Episode 10, the plot thickens. There are hidden mysteries. Who is Qian Yu? What has happened in their childhood? Why is Mu Jue Chen so protective of her? All these questions drive the plot. The tone turns serious at times (only when Mu Jue Chen is not around - it's almost impossible to be serious with him around) with beautiful sword fighting and “qing qong”.
Everything is exaggerated out of proportion and the CGI is really bad, but together, the whole thing is simply hilarious and adorable. A lot of the dialogues are unexpected and many scenes are out of expectation. I almost choked when they start to play the tune of The Flight of the Bumble Bee. They have also used EDM (electronic dance music) as background music extensively, so much so that I have to roll my eyes too. There are a few dark humors here and there. Though they banter and fight all the time, the lead characters’ chemistry is wonderful.
I love the use of oxymoron phrases here, such as, “Don’t let my face lose face”. There is also frequent play with pronunciation of Chinese words, e.g. the character 恶 (e). Depending how one says it, it can mean different things - fierce or loathsome. Therefore, non-native Mandarin speakers may not appreciate such humors.
There are of course the typical tropes such as falling off cliff and memory loss stuff. Overall, if you want a drama to laugh and take away some stress, this is the one. I’m loving it!

It's not the best or amazing but it's hilarious!!
Let me tell you first thing if you are looking for some strong story, melodrama, a typical historical genre then this is not right place to find.... it's something that will make you laugh...laugh hard and laugh harder..It's one the most hilarious shows I've ever watched, many times comedy dramas start well and then they lose the track of comedy but it's not happening here I enjoyed last ep as much as I enjoyed last episode.
It's really light, sweet and funny show definitely ease your mind even you don't get anything from it rather than being entertained...and it's sometimes okay than watching all serious and intense stuff that makes your mind all mess.
I really liked the acting specially male lead did great job, even he's character was full of himself but I never found it irritating yet it was adorable and funny... many things don't make sense in show but it's okay to ingore them...
In things like story, cinematography, execution the show is quite a mess... but it's totally worth watching... it's something that will put smile on your face:))

I think the acting is actually really good, it's not easy to play such a comedic role but they all do it really well.

Cute,funny and narcissistic
I'll sue this drama for stealing my heart,hehe. This drama made me wanting to write a review so here I go...*STORY: The story wasn't much,just mainly talking about the ML being a narcissist in a good way though. The story was mainly pure entertainment and there wasn't much killing and blood shed. It's 100% entertaining ^^.
*ACTING/CAST: The acting was great,everyone portrayed their character well especially the ML, he made the drama so much better.
*MUSIC: Nice choice of music they've got especially the opening theme song,the little sound they put for the male lead whenever he flips he's hair was great lol.
*RE WATCH VALUE: I might probably re watch some funny parts of the drama since naturally I don't re watch dramas.
*OVERALL: I gave this drama a 10 because I think it deserves it,very entertaining that you forget all your trouble and laugh out loud. The ML was narcissist but not in a bad way, him being narcissist made the drama so much fun. I recommend this drama to everyone,hoping you won't regret it if you decide to watch^^

I LOVE RUTHLESS!
I didn't have high hopes, but I really enjoyed this drama. This type of campy humour isn't me style is general, but there is always an exception to the rule. There were plenty of LOL moments. Yes I jumped through some scenes because of cringiness. But then I was confused and had to go back. Yes at times the FL irritated me and the ML was ridiculous. But all of that was part of this drama's charm. I don't know exactly why but I absolutely love Ruthless! I would not describe this show as 100% spoof because there is much that is not THAT over the top , but the main characters definitely act that way and the story goes in so many directions and tries to capture so many cliches that you could definitely label it that way.I don't like this type of comedy but I was able to make it through this by adjusting my lens to watch the ML in all his glowing glory... (cue shiny halo).
For me the comedy became stale in the later episodes so I was not as eager to get to them and finish the series. But it is pretty enough and low-angst enough to watch all the way to the end.

Good to relax and have a good laugh
it's really hilarious, and even tho the main male character has a huge ego, he's also really naïve and cute, i didn't fall for the story at first but with each episode i started to liked it.Mu Jue Chen is our male main character, he's a i dont even know what word to use, moron, egoistic, self absolve..... , at first i was like "he can't be serious" but then i decided to take things easy and just enjoy it, he made me laugh a lot and i really enjoyed watching him grow.
Qian Yu is our female main character, this woman have more patience that a pre-k teacher, but even her had a breaking point and the transition of being the passive and obedient to the strong and confident girl she became was intresting to watch.
in general i really enjoy the drama, even with the over dramatic scenes and the interesting CGI i think the plot wasn't great but it wasn't bad either, at the begging everything was really light and comical, more focused on getting to know the characters, but in the middle of the series everything take a more serious approach , the "mystery" that was set at the begging start to unravel, once the "audience" know the evil character its a little frustrating bc you alredy know whats going to happen next, what i want to say its that the drama get really predictable, but is still enjoyable.
Ooooh, and before i forget Mu Jue Chen (our main character) in some scenes he was giving me Fire Inmortal (ashes of love) vibes....... and another thing this also made me remember the korean drama "what's wrong with secretary kim?"

Its a must watch! Super funny!
I stumbled upon the drama "Su Yu" randomly on youtube when I saw a clip from the drama that summarized the hilarious vibe and comedy of the drama and characters, I instantly knew I'll love it and I did!The male lead's arrogance is the main source of laughter in the drama. He thinks he's so perfect and pretty that people literally get blinded by him. (he's not lying here tho haha)
Its my internal spirit animal. You'll laugh every second while watching this. They make jokes and slap-stick comedy of known tropes, cliches and "sappy" moments. You'e not even given the chance to feel sad for sappy moments because it'll instantly be reversed into comedy.
The leads take turns in being the boss and secretary similar to "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim"
Its definitely a drama to watch if you're stressed out and need something funny and refreshing to make you feel better.

Very funny
If you’re looking for a lot of laughs with not much depth then this is for you. It’s definitely very funny and very low on angst and sadness. It’s perfect to watch after a really heavy melodrama that’s torn you up. That being said, it just wasn’t my cup of tea. It wasn’t bad it just wasn’t that great either. I’ll start out with what I liked.What I liked:
The comedy was excellent. The acting was pretty good too. There wasn’t a lot of angst or sadness. I also really liked the behind the scenes clips at the end of each episode, it was a nice touch. Most of the characters were pretty lovable and there weren’t a lot of evil people doing awful things to get you all upset. The main couple are pretty cute together too. And I appreciated the character growth of the assassin and the second male lead.
What I didn’t like:
It was just a little too light and sweet. The story lacked depth and dimension. It did get a little more interesting story wise later in the drama but it was very predictable. I knew who the villain was very early on and how the final scene would play out. But what really bothered me was the romance aspect of the drama. I’m so tired of the kisses where the actors press their lips together and just stare at each other for several minutes while the camera circles around them. It’s hard to get into a romance with such fake kisses. And there’s just way too much push and pull between the main couple. But when a drama has to use the old standby cliche amnesia plot just to pull the main leads apart because they’ve exhausted all other means to keep them apart, they lose major points with me. Overall the lack of depth, the predictable storyline, and the unfulfilling romance of this drama had me taking a number of stars off. But I have to say, if you’re looking for something strictly for laughs and cuteness then this is definitely for you.

Now that is done, let me just rate the comedy part of this drama as 10/10.
I've been curious with Chinese historical dramas lately so I tried this story when I was looking for other dramas to watch and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the fact that even though this is a historical drama, it was like a crack drama. I've never laughed so hard in a historical drama as I did this one. The male lead, Suyu is such a narcissistic, idiotic prince and everything he does is so flamboyant and hilarious. It wasn't the over acted comedy type but really it was hilarious. It even reminded me of Park Seo Joon's character in What's Wrong with secretary kim. This was a lighthearted drama and if you want to laugh out loud without the complicated plot, try this.

The most Ridiculously Comical C-Drama I have ever encountered so far~!
Fiction Guo look exactly like Dong Sicheng! I Cannot~!! I was giggling while extremely engrosed the entire time he's on screen. #WhippedThis drama defies the natural expectation of human itself. The contradictions in this drama is too strong that it might frustrate and drive you insane!
Even the 'supposed' romantic scenes were made to be funny and that's one of the selling point of this drama. Each episode will surely irritate, frustrate and make you laugh all the time. Oh Gosh!
This as an entirety is extremely light-hearted and easy to watch; Some of the problems I have with it is the lack of actual 'proper' story development and some of the characters being so hilarious that I feel like their purpose wasn't accomplished in any shape or form. Lol~
Story - 9, I would still consider it a good drama despite the fact that it has no clear story development. Atleast all the additional elements they added made it extra fun and unexpectedly entertaining to watch.
Acting/Cast - 10, I don't even find the acting here judge-able. For me it is more of them enjoying and having fun by themselves. One thing I MUST highlight is how FICTION GUO made me insane with his resemblance to Dong Sicheng! I'll definitely watch more of his works.
Music - 10, The song placements is hella entertaining. The opening even sounded like a theme song for Gag Shows. Hahaha~!!
Rewatch Value - 8, Not something I would watch sooner. Probably after 2-3 years? It has it's own value and I enjoyed it. It's just that I have my own preferences for dramas as well. But it's really good.
Overall - 9, I want to give it an 8.5 but I don't feel comfortable rating it that way because it did entertain and made laugh each single episode. Mad respect to it's Producer, writer and all the staffs behind this production. Made me feel weird yet satisfied.

Entertaining enough, funny at times but sometimes really hard to watch.
Bored. Specially with the first few episodes. Typical story, ML is narcissistic domineering borderline cruel male while FL is like suffering from Stockholm syndrome. She has lost her memories due to a traumatic past. They fell in love but ML turns out that he was involved with her parents deaths. Sounds super familiar right? They fought each other and they fought together until they suceeded, they've won their happy endingUnrealistic story. Entertaining enough, funny at times but sometimes really hard to watch. Some really good fight scenes. Acting wise, I think only the main characters were good. Short back story, no complex subplots. There's only the ML, the FL and the love triangle. Skipped a lot just to endure some filler scenes. Re-watch value is really really low for this one..
