MUST WATCH FOR FANTASY LOVERS | ONE OF A KIND

With high expectations before I started, this did not disappoint. As what Ms. Bo Ah said in an interview there was no dead scene as they unite fantasy, action, and melodrama. And that was true, I was not bored for a second - I even rewind some scenes because it was too much to handle lol.

As for their acting, there was no problem at all. All of them were skillfull!! CG + Acting = it was flawless and superb.

The plot was written and executed well. The pace was good, it was not too rapid nor slow; nor crammed (unlike that fantasy drama).

The flashbacks were not irritating. However, I felt that there were some gaps, they just showed the essential events.

As per the characters they were portrayed sufficiently. I comprehend the point of view of each character understanding why they were able to do such decisions.

The music? Mate, they were not joking. There was this BGM and it will keep playing in your mind! The OSTs will also give you the feels after watching the drama I can assure you!

Personally, this is an incredible, terrific, extraordinary, and remarkable drama for me. This pierced my heart! It is now renting my heart for free.

I´m in love with a fox

Despite the slow start this drama was an emotional rollercoaster. I cried like five times towards the end and I rarely cry, almost never! Kim Bum is everything you want in a bratty younger sibling/antagonist and Lee Dong Wook and his facial expressions are seriously making me loose my sh*t. How does he do that? That thing with his eyebrows that somehow says more than the script? Nevermind. Great chemistry in most of the relationships, great supporting cast, villain was kinda sleazy but otherwise meh. Well, nobody was rooting for him anyway.
This story made me want to know more about korean folklore and legends, and also to rewatch Goblin, caues LDW is just that good. Also more my age than majority of the main leads in popular dramas nowadays, so theres that :D

its a good fantasy drama

i was attracted to this drama from the first teaser and i thought this will be like goblin or hotel del luna but it was much darker than my expectation but i didnt mind it...

what i liked
1. lee dong wook- he looked like he was on his way back from a fashion show in every single scene... from his hair to his wardrobe everything was perfect... his character's sassiness and cool quotient were also on point... also he is one of the smartest male leads out there... even if he gets tricked he comes back quickly...
2. kim bum - he was amazing as the spoiled little brother who dont know how to deal with his emotions and instead throws tantrums to get the attention of his brother... in his case throwing tantrums is doing evil things and killing people... he naturally has this mischievous smile that goes well with the character as well...
3. jo bo ah - she was good as both the strong-willed independent jiah as well as the imoogi... i think it would have been better if she got completely possed by imoogi and became the big baddy of the show... she is too good at being evil...
4. all the other characters except imoogi and his assistant...
5. the action scenes and creepy scenes... the drama was good at showing really creepy scenes... i loved the entire island episode as well as the episode rang, yeon and jiah gets trapped inside the dream... the drama should have had more action and creepy scenes... it kind of gave an edge to the drama
6. i liked how they wrapped it up... i knew one of the main characters will die so i wasnt disappointed when he died even though i ugly cried for him...

what i disliked
1. imoogi... i think they should have went for a more evil looking guy as imoogi... taeri is too sofy and boyish-looking to be taken seriously as the big baddy of the show... he looks like a boy infront of lee dong wook... it didnt look like 2 extremely powerful being were fighting with each other... lee yeon always looked way more powerful than imoogi eventhough that wasnt the case... their fight looked intense when boah was possessed by the imoogi... she looked like a worthy opponent to a powerful looking lee yeon...
2. inconsistency in episodes.... usually a drama will start off on a lighter note and then get intensed but this one started off very intense then in middle had some light-hearted fluffy episodes then went too dark and thrilling with the getting trapped in the dream episode then slowed down again but when back to another intense episode and ending it with a cliffhanger before taking a 2 weeks break... its very hard to tell what to expect from this drama and the synopsis of the drama dont even tell 10% of what it actually is... so a lot of people might come expecting something and will get something else... since some episodes are very action packed and thrilling the not so thrilling episodes might come off as boring...
3. should have had more action, thrilling and creepy scenes...

i guess apart from these three points i didnt dislike anything else in the drama...

the background score and music went well with the drama.... it had more korean mythological creatures than i expected... i like dramas with supernatural beings that belong to a particular culture.... overall it was a good drama and i looked forward to watch this every week...

i usually only rewatch light hearted so i might not be rewatching this one...

I gave Tale of the Nine-Tailed a 10 star review for episode one and I still think it deserves 10 stars now that I finished it.
I loved this show. The story, music, CGI, and cast were all great my opinion. I loved the couples and the chemistry they had but I also loved the chemistry among the rest of the cast. The brothers had some of the best interactions. I also loved the interactions between Ji Ah and her coworkers.
I know there are some people who were upset with the ending, but I think it was very fitting. If you do some research on lore, it will be easier to understand.
I will say this show is fairly predictable but many shows are. Even though it was predictable, it was so good and I looked forward to the new episodes every week. Also... Even though I had a good idea of what could happen, I still cried like a baby at parts.
Overall I think it’s a well thought out drama with a lot of excitement. It’s one I’d definitely watch again because I feel like there would be moments I could understand better the second time and I feel like I’d see more than I did the first time.
I highly highly recommend this drama!!

——————————————————————

I just finished the first episode and it was so worth the wait!
There was great CGI, amazing action scenes, just the right amount of suspense and humor, and the chemistry among the cast is fantastic.
I'm a big fan of Nam Ji Ah already. I think the little girl that played her did amazing! As for the character, I love that she's witty and strong. It's nice to see such a strong and smart female role. Jo Bo Ah is a perfect Ji Ah. I love how mischievous Lee Rang is! That's what you get from him right away and Kim Bum does a great job portraying that. Now... Lee Yeon... He's the whole package. He makes it seem like he has it all together but you can tell that may not fully be the case. I am slightly biased because I love Lee Dong Wook but his acting is just so good and so believable!
The acting truly is top notch from all of the actors!
I can't wait to see what's next! I think this will be my new favorite show!

Love it

I already love this drama. It melds the perfect balance of eeriness, mystery, and humor. And, oh, my Lee Dong Wook, he’s breathtakingly good looking in this jarringly well-done drama. Be it real or not, the little girl was impressive; the way she handled those imposters, I doubt I would’ve had her courage. The fight scenes are so well choreographed it’s beautiful to watch. The sword scene reminded me of Pop up Mystic Bar.

I like Jo Bo Ah as Ji Ah (I bet she’s the resurrected one); she has grit, and to top it off, she is smart. I’m also glad to see Hwang Hee again after Doctor John. I enjoy him a lot. What can I say about Kim Bum; he'ss so handsome and mischievous. He seems to be holding a grudge of some kind, and I cannot wait to find out everybody's story and what connects them. Everything about this drama is fun; I laughed out loud at the afterlife and undocumented spirit signage. But the best part is that the dialogue and acting are top-notch. I am hooked.

It began okay - the CGI was a bit cheesy and the male lead's hair in the historical era looked ridiculously fake, but it was nothing extreme and easy to overlook those small details.

My main problem was the advancement of the love story. Sure, she's his past love reincarcerated, great, but she has no idea about the past, so how did she even fall for him so quickly? Their romance was just far-fetched at best. Even in their past life romantic scenes, there wasn't much depth to their love. When it comes to this point, I would typically stay for the second-lead's stories, but in this drama, the second leads were nothing but filler characters.

A tale of two brothers....

I would quite literally watch Lee Dong Wook stare at a wall for an hour and not move on inch away from my viewing screen. There are actors who have perfected their craft and he is definitely one of them. This story was deftly penned and expertly acted by all involved and the narrative twists and turns unexpectedly. It was everything I could hope for in a story.

My favorite part is the love story between brothers and them grappling and dealing with the emotions of love, disappointment, anger and betrayal between. Lee Dong Wook and Kim Bum had an undeniable onscreen chemistry and made me feel every emotion their characters experienced. The most surprising part was the romance between the ML and FL. Although expertly acted, their story arc seemed to not resonate as much as the brothers did. Jo Bo Ah did a phenomenal job as Nam Ji Ah and it kept bugging me throughout why I did not feel a strong connection between her and the ML. I think the best explanation was the characters were written as such that the romance between them was secondary to the relationship between fox brothers.

Anyway, I'd love to see a season 2 to see the story continue. This drama is truly worth the time spent.

Amazing characters

The drama starting off good but towards the second half it felt dragged a little bit but its okay. I wasbt too into tue romance with this one but who cares becausei doscovered Kim Bum and oh my gosh his character is cute and adorable. I more specifically enjoyeded his story and character development and relatationship to itgers like Yu Ri and Soo Ho. The main leads were aweaome too but I feel the stort didon justice to the romance in the second half.sort of fizzled out for some reason as I didnt get the vibe but the actors were amazing. The imoogi was good. Lee Tae Ri was a surprise for me in the drama as I didn't expect him and he did superb. Definitely give this drama a go and get passed atleast 3 to 4 episodes.

Give this a miss... unless you're completely bored.

It's been a while since I watched something that disappoint me so. The first 5 episodes were promising with of course the amazing cast.

I'm not sure why a lot of people find Jo Bo-Ah subpar, personally I like her and think she has great potential. Kim Bum... well what can I say but that he needs a drama series with him as the main lead. Lee Dong-Wook is the big fish here, I'm positive people watch this show for him.

However, the greatness of the show ends there--the casting.

The storyline didn't have much excitement to it. Not saying I'm expecting it to be unpredictable and blow me away, but it wasn't even humorous or make my heart flutter.

I watched this to the end hoping somehow it would get better but alas it continued on its declining path. Perhaps watch this if you're a hardcore fan of any of the cast. I'm going to end this review here because spending more energy and time on this drama is making me squirm.

Pretty Good.

The drama started off great and I don't think it lost its steam because to me every episode was better than the last. It started off fast paced but there are bigger events to look forward to. I really love the plot and the dynamic between the leads, one day they are lovey dovey and the next they are grabbing throats. As for the brothers I loved the love hate relationship and it eventually led up to a great bromance. Every character was significant and added to the story one way or the other. As for things I did not like, just judging from the title one would expect a huge focus on being a Nine-Tailed Fox and its element but this drama is not that. It felt like them being a Gumiho was just for the background and the story really focuses on the couple. Although I loved the romance some of their scenes together are very cringey to the point where I have to skip. All in all they were cute for the most part lol.

Another complaint is that I hate the trope of always saving and dying for love, emphasis on the leads. It is justifiable as to why Yeon would not hesitate to die for and protect Ji ah considering she sacrificed herself for him in the past. I just feel it got very repetitive, and I could not help but roll my eyes whenever they talk about dying and saving each other. The female lead started off strong but I don't necessarily think she became a damsel in distress because most of the events that happened was out of her control. I just wished the writer didn't put her in so many situations where she couldn't help herself. I wished things would have been explained better there were a few things that were introduced and forgotten midway one being why Ji Ah's parents went to that island, I guess we'll never know.

As for the acting, it was pretty good everyone brought justice to their character. I am particularly impressed by Jo Bo ah, she literally played three characters and each character was complex. Whenever she transforms to Imoogi I get goosebumps, she definitely suits a villain role. As for the Imoogi I was a little worried when Lee Tae ri came into the picture because we are supposed to believe Imoogi is this ruthless and powerful creature and physically I did not think he fits the role but I was proved wrong in the final episodes.

Now a lot of people grew accustomed to Rang and most are pissed as to how they ended his character. I have to say Kim Bum really shined in this drama and no matter how sad I am about his death I could not help but look at things differently. Although his character developed let us not forget all the evil things he did ranging from killing innocent people and waking up the Imoogi for the stupidest reason and that literally started the conflict of the whole drama so I viewed it as him paying for his actions. And also every character was willing to sacrifice themselves at some point so Rang isn't an exception, although it would've been better if he died in a very prestigious and impactful way rather than just disappearing in a tent. All in all I thought his death was very unnecessary but at the same time justifiable. Personally no matter how they ended things with Rang I wished Lee Yeon remained dead (this is coming from someone who loves Yeon, but I'm always up for non-cliches) because it would not be another Kdrama cliche where the second lead have to sacrifice himself for the first lead's happiness. All in all I'm happy he at least got reincarnated and a chance to a better childhood.

As for the final scene I don't even know what to say, I need an explanation! Overall this was a pretty decent drama and I am generally not drawn to fantasy dramas but for some reason I was hooked to this one. They are couple iconic scenes in this and with the way they ended it I definitely think there is still room for more story telling. I really enjoyed watching this drama and I really hope for a second season of course with a more solid writing. The drama has its flaws, I think it could have been better and things could have gone differently but in general it has a lot of good elements so I recommend.

Tale of the Nine-tailed

Cast is perfect, they all played their roles really well. I really like the storyline - but I like fantasy. Chemistry between leads was amazing and for me opinions that there were none are just weird, this is my favourite match if I had to rank other pairing with Jo Bo Ah or Lee Dong Wook. Also this hair colour for Lee Dong Wook - OMG, he looks so good.
Also I wished to have their fox bag charm :D

Different but good

This was a excellent series, the story was good and easy to follow, the characters were well matched and played extremely well.

The series flowed through and kept you sitting glued. My only problem was that each episode was long, even though it was really good.

I enjoyed the story and how everything came full circle, the ending though Wow i didn't expect it even though there were tears i was shocked with the last bit of the episode.

This drama deserves every bit of high praise possible and for Good reason, you come across you love, when the plot gets thick it still holds structure.

Again though that ending had shocked.
