27-year-old Eto Kana lives in Tokyo and has never been out of the city before. She used to work as a designer and stay in a company dormitory but moved back to her family home after resigning due to the stress from interpersonal relationships. Meanwhile, Kana’s family gets a call about an elderly granduncle who got injured. She goes to Kyoto where he lives at the request of her worried mother and stays there for several days to take care of him. Her 70-year-old granduncle Oga Shigeru has resided in Kyoto for a long time and there are many things he is particular about. He hands her a hand-drawn map and sends her on errands every day, making her go to a number of incredible and funny places by bicycle. The world that Kana explores is new to her and nostalgic for her granduncle. This is the inner sanctum of Kyoto that she learns about for the first time. She would not have seen these locations if she did not live in the city. Kana discovers her granduncle’s true intentions through these places as well as her encounters with people, and she gradually begins to relax. (Source: JDramas Wordpress) Edit Translation

Reviews
I definitely recommend this movie to anyone who likes Japan, specifically, Kyoto. People who has never being there will want to go there, like, tomorrow. It is a very traditional and cozy city, with people very proud of their old establishments (some as old as 100-years-old!) and food and water. People who was being there will definitely want to go back. I consider myself lucky enough to say that I've been in Kyoto during momiji season, so seeing the MC going to shrines and walking next to the river with the beautiful views of colorful trees was very "natsukashii".
Places I took note to visit, mainly because of the elderly bosses, are the shop with the kamamochi, the one with the mackerel sushi and the coffee shop.
I loved the documentary feel it has, I think it was a great decision. No dramas, no frills.
I love the scenery, it is very picturesque.
I loved that they used "real people" of Kyoto instead of actors to interact with Fumino's character.
My want, rather need, to go to Kyoto just went higher!
Please do watch it!
