Good but not perfect.

The first half I totally understood the hype. It was a refreshing story with a very refreshing FL, one who isn't afraid to enjoy eating and doesn't do it in a dainty, feminine way and one who doesn't bother with short skirts, high heels and perfect makeup. In short, she is everything that I've been dying to see in a Kdrama FL.
Watching the two leads get to know, respect and then love each other was a delight and they both felt very rounded to me. But then the last third of the drama came, with its inevitable dragging and unnecessary drama...
And why did they suddenly move the focus from the two main couples to new couples that you didn't really know as a viewer and didn't particularly care about???
The producers realised that it should have had only 14 episodes instead of 16 and they still didn't change it. That for me is drama negligence.
I still loved it overall, but it could have been a masterpiece and in the end it wasn't.

Second leads in this ruled!

Fun romance/drama/comedy with a few unexpected creepy suspense moments.

The secondary leads Jae-jin and Hye-sun killed it, completely stealing the show from the leads in this.

Unfortunately for the ML, I wish the FL had chosen the other guy. Lol. That's never a good sign. I don't know he was more down to Earth and cool. The ML was too controlling. But it still works I would say. I liked the Mountain Spirit's role in the story, and the FL was really, really good.

This show excels at nothing but does a lot of little things right that do add up. The story progresses well.

If you're in it for the romance, go for it. If not, keep moving.

The show itself was fine. The acting, directing, and music were all great, there were a good amount of funny scenes that didn't detract from the plot, and the storyline was fine. However, the romance aspect of the plot takes up the majority of the run time and if that's not your thing than it can get quite boring after a while.

I wanted to watch it for the supernatural aspect and, while I don't mind romance, I ended up skippikg through most of the show and almost dropped it because it really hit a slump in the action/supernatural department. I wanted to finish it in case it got more exciting, however, th ending was much more lackluster than I had hoped.

Bit too long

Interesting drama but a bit too long. I don't follow much of the k world, so maybe I don't know why the 16 episodes formula. With some exceptions, most of the dramas could have fewer episodes...

STORY - A simple story with great FL acting.
I liked the chemistry of the main couple, the acting of the secondary characters, their relationships. The struggle to become human is the main reason.

ACTING - FL was awesome,ML was good. Great chemistry and well performances by almost the entire cast.

I think that a 1000 years Gumiho should be more clever. There was a story and then almost nothing happens.

OST - can't remember very well so...

REWATCH? - there are a lot of cute or funny moments so, it is rewatchable for sure.

I don't understand why the love triangles. Is there a thing on Korea about that? Is it the dream of everyone to be involved in one?
I think, personally, the females actresses are gorgeous. But I don't understand the way they portrait beauty, as if someone looks could be the most important thing...

2nd Male Lead syndrome :)

First half was super hilarious - slapstick, corny, lol kinda funny. 2nd half the humour became tiresome and repeated.

Can I just say-I LOVE Jang Ki Yong, but this is the first time I was rooting for the other guy Seon-Woo to get the girl!! His character development was more interesting. At the start he was sneaky and a jerk, but after getting to know and falling in love with Lee Dam he changed, and stood up for her. He even confessed 3x times, but was bitterly rejected. I truly felt his pain and cried during those scenes :(:(:(

The love story between main leads was kind of dull. It was cute and funny before they started dating, after that it got boring and lacked chemistry. Mr Gumiho was rather clueless for a fox who has lived 999 years. And his best friend Hye Sun was equally as dull, all she did was give advice. I think the scriptwriters could have done more with their characters- some action and more magic would have been nice.

The Marble story was rather confusing. It seemed repetitive, going around in circles, like they had to drag the story for 16 episodes. I did like the supporting casts- some ppl preferred the love story of Hye Sun / Jae Jin more than the leads. Towards the end, I started skipping quite a bit. I found the last episode dull, and his comeback a bit of an anti-climax.

great modern day fantasy romcom!

This is pretty much a chill romcom with gumiho's in present time. The storyline was pretty good and I really enjoyed the chemistry of the whole cast.

I love Jang Kiyong and he always shows great acting aside from his good looks. I'm not a big fan of Lee Hyeri's acting but she did pretty good in this series; mainly because it was a comedy filled series. I also loved Kang Hanna, she's literally so hilarious! Her character's relationship with Jaejin was just so cute too!

I watched this back in 2021 so I can't fully remember the details but overall, I enjoyed the series!

Unwhelming

If I had to describe this drama in one word, it would be underwhelming. The premise is great and the first couple episodes are also great, it was moving fast, and then nothing happens for 13 more episodes. I'm not kidding. You could watch the first episodes and the last one and nothing in the story would change. Sure there are some comedic bits and some very minor misunderstandings but there is no actual conflict that needs to be resolved until the very last episode. And the minor issues that do occur, the female lead doesn't even know about them because the male lead is constantly treating her like a child and not telling her anything.
The female lead is great. She has a lot of charisma, is independent, and goes for what she wants. The male lead and the second male lead are 2 of the most boring characters I've ever seen. It got to a point where I was thinking, no matter which one she ends up with I don't care either way. None of them deserve this queen. Also, the fact that he is 1000 years old usually isn't an issue for me. I'm weird and I like that kind of theme but ugh they kept pressing the fact that he was old, and constantly comparing him to an old man it was so CREEPY. And it really doesn't help that he was constantly lying and withholding information from the female lead. It really gave me weird abusive vibes similar to real relationships when the man is too old and takes advantage of a young woman.

I'm guess more than anything, I'm just disappointed. I feel like with this kind of theme they had free rein to do whatever they want and instead they gave us the bare minimum.

I would not recommend unless you are very new to dramas.

Mostly fresh and fun—but the main OTP bored me

I understand why people like this. It is easy to recommend for those who like forced cohabitation/school romcoms with bits of fantasy.

I enjoyed nearly all of the various relationships and interactions in this series (the friends, the two sets of siblings, the secondary and tertiary OTPs). I liked the production as a whole (the colors are nice, the animations are funny) and didn't mind the paper-thin fantasy. Our leads Jang Ki Yong (as Shin Woo Yeon) and Lee Hyeri (as Lee Dam) also make one good-looking pair.

However, as the show progressed, the main OTP (and their issues) bored me. So much so that somewhere from the middle of the drama until the end I was fast-forwarding most of their angsty/contemplative/sugary moments and just wanted to see everyone else instead.

I'm sure a lot of people loved their swoony moments the way the writer intended them to be. But it just didn't work for me. Woo Yeon was written way too calm, passive, and dull for my tastes. He ruminated by his window too much and he kept Dam in the dark a lot of times. I only looked forward to his moments with our ditzy ex-gumiho Hye Sun (played by Kang Han Na) because he comes alive every time with their petty arguments.

As for Lee Hyeri herself, I liked her in the little bit I've seen her in the reality shows before (We Got Married bits and House on Wheels premiere). Her brand of comedy here is rarely seen in dramaland nowadays. She reminds me a bit of the (slightly) embarrassing FLs in older kdramas like Lee Da Hae in My Girl and Kim Sun Ah. I liked her here but I hope she chooses more diverse projects after this so she won't be typecast.

Anyway, all the supporting characters and their story arcs were fun and interesting so I'll probably rewatch this for them. I'll just be fast-forwarding through the scenes of the OTP.

Cute and fluffy, with a side of Gumiho

I am pleasantly surprised at how thoroughly I enjoy this drama. This was a perfect cute, fluffy, and light-hearted drama. I was literally smiling and giddy for almost the entire drama. I even LOLed at some scenes. I previously watched Touch Your Heart which was kind of a struggle to get through and surprisingly, a few of the side characters of Touch Your Heart showed up in My Roommate is Gumiho. But unlike Touch Your Heart, MRIG does the light-hearted, fluffy drama theme so much better.
I loved the relationship between the two main leads but I especially liked the female lead. I absolutely adored Hae-sun in this drama though. Initially. I thought she was going to turn into a villain later on because secretly she was in love with Sir the entire time. But I'm so glad that wasn't the case. I loved her love-hate friendship that she had with Sir. They both aren't good at being honest and nice to each other so they expressed their love for each other through their banter. I also loved that she was completely willing to protect and support Lee Dan every time she needed it. I'm glad she was paired with Jae-jin, I didn't expect it but they're a sweet couple to watch. I would've loved to see the Mountain Spirit in the last episode while they were tying things up but it's okay. I still loved the wrapping up of the final episode.
I really did feel bad for Seon-woo though. Even though he was a mega-jerk at the start of the drama, I still found myself liking him and if Sir wasn't in the picture, I really wouldn't have minded if Seon-woo and Lee-Dan got together. Of course, that would turn this drama into an entirely different drama.
Anyways, I'm really glad I decided to give this drama a try instead of skipping it. Maybe one day, I'll come back and re-watch it just for the laughs.

A fun drama that didn’t take itself too seriously.

I started this show because I’ve become a big fan of the female lead, Lee Hye Ri. I loved her acting and her character in Reply 1988 so I was looking forward to seeing what she brought to this new character, Lee Dam, and I wasn’t disappointed. My girl can act and she’s funny as hell. She plays the goofy heroine extremely well and I was here for all of it in this show.

This was the first show that I saw Jang Ki Yong front and center and holy shit, this man is beautiful! He plays the loner immortal role really well too. Seeing him bring Shin Woo Yeo to life was a delight and a half. I loved seeing him fall in love with Lee Dam, even when he didn’t know and understand that was what was happening to him. Lee Dam was the perfect match for him and I completely adored their romance.

This story was complex and it was full of baloney but holy cow was it a lot of fun. I laughed, I smiled, and I cried throughout much of this show and through it all, I was entertained as hell. I loved the friendship between Shin Woo Yeo and Yang Hye Sun. The way that they both tried to live as humans and how often they got everything so wrong made me laugh so much. Their chemistry was fun and seeing them interact with all of the young college students, when they were hundreds of years old just made this show all the more fun. I also really loved the friendship between Lee Dam and her crew. They were so ride or die for each other and every single time that they got drunk together or fought together had me cracking the hell up.

Lee Dam was my kind of character. Someone I wanted to be and someone that I wanted to be besties with. She was a lot of fun but her moral compass was screwed on tight in the right direction. She was weird and she made no apologies for that. She liked what she liked and to hell with what anyone else had to say about it. She was also extremely loyal to those that she loved and to those that loved her. She was honest and just an all-around great person and I adored the hell out of her.

The second lead was someone that I had never heard about until this show and though I liked his character well enough, I wasn’t rooting for him to win Lee Dam. I did feel bad for him though because he had it bad for her and no matter what he did to win her over, she would not be swayed from Eoreushin. Even when outside forces did whatever they could to help his cause, she would not be moved. When we first met the second lead, I didn’t care for him and he really grew on me the more episodes that I watched. In the end, my heart really hurt for him and I wished him well. I hope he’s happy, wherever he is now. Haha.

The story started off strong and though there were times when things moved at a weird pace, I enjoyed every single episode. I enjoyed the main romance, the secondary romance, and I supported the hell out of all of Lee Dam’s loved ones. I was rooting for everyone and everything to work out in the end and I wasn’t disappointed. The beginning started off strong and I respected that since a lot of books and dramas have that weird beginning hump that you have to slog through to get to all of the good bits. The cast was delightful and the acting was great. Overall, this was a fun drama that didn’t take itself too seriously and I have every confidence that you’ll like this drama if you give it a chance.

Because there are so many dramas out there, there are very few that I take the time to watch more than once. And I have now seen this drama three times. I absolutely love when they bring historical and modern together in such a complete way. I adore the fantasy aspect as well as the true-to-life aspect of relationships and what can go right and what can go wrong in them. This cast is phenomenal, visuals are stunning, and the soundtrack rounds it out for a perfect series. I am truly looking forward to more from this production and writing team.

A must watch drama even for people who don't like fantasy

I was quite hesitant to watch this drama as I don't usually enjoy fantasy dramas, but I am very glad I decided to give this a try. I really liked the story line, it isn't overly complicated, it keeps you interrested but doesn't overwhelm you with too many elements at the same time.

The cast was an amazing pick. Everyone from the leads to the support characters fit their roles so well, the acting was amazing. I really liked the chemistry between the characters (not only the leads, also the chemistry with the second lead, the second lead couple and the friendships).

This drama combined fantasy, romance and humor so well. You can relate to the characters, the drama is easy to watch and I am pretty sure the show can make anyone laugh!

Overall an amazing drama that I will definitely rewatch in the future!
