EDIT: I came back to bump up my rating because this has a stronger rewatch value than I initially thought.

You Are My Glory is so sweet and drama-free. It's a breath of fresh air to see characters nearing 30 and having a mature relationship, facing relatable struggles. The story focuses solely on Yu Tu and Jing Jing with no side plots. The supporting cast is filled with really likable characters that helped make this drama more fun, like Yu Tu's friend Zhai Liang and Jing Jing's manager and assistant. Much of Yu Tu's storyline is about his dream of exploring space, which was very inspiring.

Dilraba really shines as Jing Jing and I think this is my favorite role of hers. She tends to lean into being cutesy but in this drama, strikes the right balance. Jing Jing is quick-witted and funny, but also a genuine and straightforward person. I liked that there are a lot of really fun moments that aren't overdramatized. I've never impressed by Yang Yang's acting but find him well-suited for a restrained, pensive character like Yu Tu.

Initially I thought, another gaming drama? But this drama didn't remind me of any other gaming dramas that I've watched! I don't know anything about games like the one they play in the first part of this drama (don't worry, gaming isn't the focus of the entire drama!) but I still found this storyline to be surprisingly captivating! It's so cute to see Jing Jing working hard to practice playing the game and Yu Tu training her.

It's so nice that there are no annoying drama cliches here - no love triangle, no parents disapproving, etc. Instead there are a lot of nice, smaller moments that are funny or delightful or moving. In a few scenes I found the writing/scene set-up questionable, like maybe it made sense on paper (in the novel), but seeing it unfold on screen felt unrealistic. Overall, this drama brought me a lot of joy!

P.S. Love the cameo by Janice Wu!

Just watch it - electrifying chemistry and mesmerizing moments

This will be my shortest review: just watch this. The leads are incredible. The plot is logical and is extremely fun. All the characters are supportive and fascinating, allowing this drama to be a light-hearted watch, but at the same time, you become invested in the leads themselves.

My one area of complaint is that it focuses a tad too much on gaming or aerospace engineering. The first 14~ eps go very into detail of a mobile game (perhaps even more than some "gaming dramas") and just as you're getting used to the gaming aspect, it essentially gets completely dropped in the second half! If it was kept more consistent, would've been better. The latter half is really dominated by aerospace engineering, with lots of exposition - the exposition doesn't bring too much value to the story but really slows it down and is pretty inconsequential. The weakest part of the drama by far is the final 2 episodes. It wraps up relatively nicely/happily/realistically but the final two episodes essentially have the leads be apart for 90% of the scenes. It took away the best part of the drama so the final scenes felt underwhelming to be the conclusion of such a great drama. There were so many iconic, passionate, heart-warming moments but for me, the LAST scene didn't do it. Small complaint, but just know that it's there. If the drama was shortened to ~28episodes (fixed pacing regarding gaming/engineering and a better final two episodes), it would have been even more perfect.

Still - just watch it.

Awesome series

Ok, I may be a bit bias on the review.... as I am a very big fan of both Yang Yang and Dilraba. Storyline wise, I extremely love the storyline. It is nice, quirky in some areas, humorous and definitely the cheekiness of Dilraba. ^^ Yet another awesome Actor and Actress couple that work well together making the series even more enjoyable and loved. Watching Yang Yang´s seriousness and aloofness together with Dilraba´s outgoing and cheekiness is extremely enjoyable. The soundtrack / OST is also extremely nice and beautiful, well paired with the series.

Just Like The Title Says!!!

I only wish I had watched it when it just came out as its not on the main asian apps I watch these dramas. I love everything about this drama, from the beginning to the end it was just so good, one of the best modern day slice of life drama from China. The story, character development, chemistry with both leads was incredible. I am a fan of Yang Yang so I was not looking for anything less and the fl did just an amazing job, I love that they play games with an amazing career. This was the first Aerospace Drama I have watched and I learned a lot. If anyone looking for inspiration for a lovely drama with an overall balance of Love, Lifestyle and Career driven, then this is the show to watch. I know there are some reviews might complain about simple things because they choose to see the negatives even though it weighs more on the positive side. Bravo to this incredible Cast & Crew.
PS. I love the FL wardrobe especially the sweaters & love the coat she wore at the high school reunion :)

Excellent but disappointed

This is only drama I was waiting each day for releasing the video with English subtitles. I really enjoyed this drama, story, romance, script and acting all are excellent but my only disappointing is I think they came to ending with rush. I expected some more episodes, because searching for another such good drama is really challenging one.
I am fully enjoyed this drama because unlike in other Chinese dramas neither ML nor FL is cold and distant, like them their characters are fully matured and has excellent chemistry.
They could have covered some more topics by making this drama for at least 32 episodes.

Slow Burn Romance at its Finest

You Are My Glory (CDrama) (2021)

"You are the rabbit that has seen the most stars."

Likes
1. I always love stories where one is a celebrity and the other is an average person. Yu Tu is serious and an aerospace engineer while JingJing is a popular actress who is fun and cheerful. Somehow their relationship works despite looking like they dont have much in common on the outside. And i think it's because they connect with each other. They support each other in their career goals and comfort each other when they're down. They also love teasing each other. Lots of hugs and kisses too. Despite their long distance relationship, they made it work by being honest and open.
2. First 10 eps were about gaming and how they grew closer. The middle 10 eps were about Yu Tu's aerospace stuff and how they end up together. The last 10 eps were all about their relationship after becoming official - 2 months after, 2 years later, getting married, and 5 years after getting married. We see their love never stopped and continuous to grow stronger.
3. Whoever casted Dilraba and Yang Yang should be rewarded because they look so great together!
4. I also love the soundtrack been looking for it and havent found them. I'm also tempted to buy the cute stuff they were showing like the rabbit earrings, rabbit doll, rocket toy, the mini astronaut figurine. Even purjoy haha which they drank in almost every scene 🤣

Dislikes
The aerospace parts were a little boring because i couldn't understand the technical details. I'm also not a gamer so I struggled to understand how the game works.

Chemistry between the leads is off the charts . . .

These two leads! The romance is very much worth the watch. A great connection between two adults, who are so comfortable emotionally and physically. Credit to the two main actors.

The tension of the first half is addictive as two very different individuals figure out if they fit, and if they are enough. The side actors are not memorable, the music is so so, and the plot is fairly simple . . . but the chemistry!! The yearning!

The romantic scenes are worth a re-watch.

I grade on other criteria:

Complex Themes: 5.5
Take the time to pursue greatness in your youth but don't let a once in a lifetime romance slip through your fingers due to ambition. All will work out in time. Making sacrifices for your country is the highest honor.

Character Growth/Complex Characters: 7.0
The excellent acting between the two leads is so good, that it gives complexity much more than the script/plot would suggest. Jing Jing remains essentially the same, but Mr. Yu does have a crisis and a set of humbling realizations that allow him to be an excellent partner going forward.

Complex Woman/Relationships between Woman: 7.0
Props to featuring women in careers with ambition, but otherwise they mostly just talk about men with one another.

Cinematography/Production Values: 7.5
Clothes and styling were all well done. There was a limited number of sets, but the sets were done extremely well.

All-time favorite C-drama

I just finished watching YAMG for the Nth time today, lol. It is my go-to drama if there is nothing that tickles my fancy. Why is this drama a gem?

1. It's short but oh so sweet. Only 30 to 45 minutes per episode. Thus, there are no stupid fillers just to lengthen the scenes.
2. Characters are realistically fleshed out. They are multi-faceted. Main leads are not just lovers, scenes also showed them as friends to their colleagues, beloved child to their parents and competent career people.
3. The love story is borne out of maturity. The scenes between FL and ML are organic. No tropes like FL falling to the arms of ML in slow motion, lol. The dialogues are witty and funny. Camaraderie and chemistry between leads are insanely good. There is a healthy amount of kissing and hugging, too.
4. Science stuff is cool. There were a lot of scenes on aero space engineering most of which i do not understand, lol. I was intrigued though. It sure looks fun to build something that can travel to space.

The advantage of a drama that is adapted from a novel is it's layered storytelling. I love the simplicity of its major premise: People can achieve great things if there is someone who supports and love them. There is a strong energy that catapults humans to reach for the stars when they know there is at least one person who believes in them and their dreams.

A Wholesome and Sweet Love story with two gorgeous leads.

A wholesome love story without unnecessary crap added to it. No love triangles and no misunderstandings just two mature people loving and cherishing each other to the fullest.

Both ML/FL were pure green flags and had utmost respect for each other and their professions. Never complained about it but only motivated each other to do better.

Yang Yang and Dilraba were the perfect casting and the chemistry between them wasn't intense but soothing and sweet as it should be for their characters.

The show's ost was quite beautiful and matched the shows vibe entirely.

If you are bored with the cliched love triangle dramatic love stories that you see in most of the C dramas then this is the show for you.

The Weakest Gu Man Drama

Story: In one word, half of this drama is basically skipable. It was so boring to watch when they playing online game, as the scenes about the aerospace. Unlike other Gu Man's drama, this drama is more plain in the romance side and the career side of the MCs. There were no serious conflicts in this drama except the MCs mental's struggle of showing their feelings. However, as typical Gu Man's drama, the romance is very sweet and addictive for rom-com fans.

Acting: I adore the 2 main actor actress in this drama. Honestly, I haven't watched Yang Yang drama since Love O2O (I dropped Martial Universe). And this drama proved Yang Yang's acting is remarkable. Perhaps Yang Yang is more suitable for modern drama (just my subjective opinion). Dilraba's acting is natural and amusing. She was like acting herself as her role is an actress, therefore she didn't have to put much effort to act. The chemistry between MCs also top notch. I can feel their emotions as if they are real couple. No wonder this CP will be loved by huge fans, not mention their stunning faces.

Music: the OSTs are good, some of it is notable but not very impressive.

Overall: I don't know if the novel's plot is similar with the drama, but my thoughts are this drama has too many unnecessary scenes, like the online game and the aerospace. It took almost half of this drama and that basically no story to tell at all. I also found other dramas which had similar trope are boring, but they didn't insert too many of online game scenes. If this drama didn't cast these 2 top actors, I don't think anyone will hold on to watch until the end.

Boring at its finest!

Have watched several Cdramas and I could say this is so far the most boring one I have watched. I tried this due to high ratings and the cast were all good and famous. But I agree with the unpopular reviews here..this is boring and storyline about gaming and then switched over to aeronautics does not add up to any romantic feelings to smile about on this drama. Its more of a scifi drama instead of romcom. The plot should have been a famous actress falling in love with a regular guy..but this was not emphasized. There are other cdramas to watch if the plot is about a famous actress and a regular guy..this series is definitely not it. Dilraba and Yangyang may have been paid a huge amount on this drama for them to play this..or prolly because it has something to do with being nationalistic since the drama is about chinese satellite.
