WOW. JUST WOW

I've never written a review before, but I just had to do it for "You are my glory". I will try to summe it up in a few lines.
What a beautiful and touching drama. This is one of the realest stories I've ever seen, and this is all due to the relatioship between the main characters. I just love how they work things out by talking and being true to each other, I love how they support each others' careers and take things at their pace. Everything worked out for me. I must say that now that I've found Yu Tu it will be hard to find another ML as likeable as him.

Ps: It was so cool to learn more about aerospace engineering.

If you love a mature relationship couple, this is for you!

Hello guys! are you currently in doubt whether to watch this or not? ya maybe because you thought it gonna be a cliche love story between a guy and a beautiful actress, go through a lovey dovey journey and then boom! their relationship is expose and her fans is angry which will led to their breakup. Then after a few episodes they are back together. BUT NO! You are my glory is very far from this storyline. So, did I mange to convince you to watch it, no? then you can continue reading my review!

These are all what i like and dislike about this drama :

what i like :

1) The main couple mindset.
They are very mature unlike most couple in other drama. At first, Yu Tu might hesitate a bit because he thought he is not worthy of Jing Jing, but then he realize, you doesn't have to be perfect to be in a relationship. Actually i really like this part of the drama, because i can relate. Not about relationship tho, but more about my insecurity whether i am worthy of something or not. Then, both of them are very busy with their own works but manage to find time for each other. They understand each other works and support each other.

2) The plot
The paced is not too fast and not too slow, just nice. It have 2 time skip tho, but it doesn't affect the story and for me, it is necessary. I love how the story mix with a bit of esport, the media (jing jing) side and the space (yu tu) side, so it is not very bland and repetitive. *spoiler* I truly happy when the rocket success to launch. All of their hardwork and time spent on the rocket didn't go in vain. When they show everyone is watching the launch, it suddenly pop up in my mind how exciting will it be to see it using my own eyes.

3) (my personal like)
I like because it doesn't have a love triangle.
I like because it doesn't have a silly misunderstanding.
I like because they didn't breakup at all (instead you get a marriage <33)
I like how they tell each other "what is wrong".
I like how the ending doesn't end after they get married, but it also show you their life after that.
Basically, I like almost everything.

what i dislike :

1) ummm
Well, i don't really know what I dislike. Probably when they talk about the spacecraft? not because it is badly execute or something, but because i can't understand a thing, HAHAHAHA. The osts are good, but not really remarkable imo, but "fall in love" by mika and curley gao really caught my attention. But really, i don't even know what i dislike about this drama. Ummm, if I really need to write what I dislike, maybe it lack side story? but it is not a problem for me!

i write quite a long review tho ;) anyway, if you still hesitate, why don't you just try? I am sure you will not regret it. BYE !

It is all about the CP, silly, and now some messages from our sponsor.

Watching this show is a guilty pleasure. You know that the leads are too beautiful and perfectly matched, you know the storyline is pure fluff but nicely done and everything is just so romantic. If you want to forget your worries for a while then binge watch this.

There is a coherent story but nothing overly dramatic or deep (at least by the usual c-drama standard). The romance is sweet and wholesome. There is a good deal of skinship and when they play in bed they weren't doing crosswords! The show is so full of nice people that it must be a record. The FL's agent is a mother hen type but without any manipulative behaviour of the typical talent agent. The young assistant is not a slave but a happy, bubbly soul. The parents are all lovely people. Most of their friends are sweet and some are a bit nerdy or gossipy but likeable. The senior staff members are all father figures with wisdom to spare. Even the antagonists (and I used this word very loosely) were not trouble makers. No breakups, no forced separations, except for one patch of misunderstanding, it was plain sailing for the whole show. It is a funny thing to say but taken in totality, it actually made the show felt a bit odd.

Why? I think the answer lies in the Chinese government wanting to change the narrative around the entertainment industry and the greed culture. Consider the recent controls placed on rabid fandom, cancelling of several high profile celebs and the push for "common prosperity", I can see some subtle messages imbedded in the show. For instance, early on, the FL actually asked the question "am I worth this much?" during a discussion about a new contract (and in RL reference to how much some actors are paid for a few weeks of work). As the show progressed, Dilraba got more and more grounded and they even got married in a group wedding (to much acclaim from netizens) when most c-drama would have gone all out for a lavish wedding as the finale. Social media played a fairly neutral or even positive role here instead of a hot bed of venomous slander. Paparazzo were made fun of and "chased out of town". National security officials were helpful and understanding(?). Yang Yang is an aerospace engineer and that is topical as China has successfully landed a Mars rover just recently so there should be a lot of interests. But more importantly, he was considering joining an investment bank for the money but changed his mind. The message here is that greed is no longer good but contribution to the society is more rewarding. This is reinforced by the fact all the "loser" characters were bankers boasting about their pay checks and their excessive consumptions. The FL's ex was a stereotypical rich CEO type but in this show, he definitely did not get the girl and Dilraba made it very clear why. Ditto when the rich BF of a co-star arrived with in a convoy of fancy SUV's and truck load of fancy food for the casts and crew, it was not well received but when the ML arrive in an old jeep and fixed their internet with his own hands, it gained the approval of the upper echelon aka the Director. May be I'm over thinking this but this show certainly have a mix of PR and subtle messages to promote Chinese aerospace achievements and also amped up the positive feedbacks when you are perceived to be doing the right thing by society.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed this show a lot because it was so sweet and entertaining. They knew their ace is the OTP and they dialled up their chemistry and gave us as many swoon worthy moments as we can handle. Is this a realistic portrait of modern Chinese lives? I would say it is better than one that is filled with devious plots to breakup our CP and manufactured dramas just to stir up angst but is the pairing of a movie megastar and a chief aerospace engineer likely in RL...?

There were some issue with the YouTube dialogue soundtrack but otherwise, the OST was very nice. Production value was high but some early science stuff was a bit dubious.

First ever review. Sorry if there are mistakes.

After complete watching this drama, I learn something. Support from your partner and mutual understanding is a must to success in both relationship and dreams.

Yu Tu might be having low self esteem because of his worries about money. And everything change after he lower his stereotype towards Jingjing. Even it quite late for him to realise about his feelings but once he grasp the love, he did take action to win Jingjing heart backs. Jingjing really supportive towards YuTu as she knows about Yu Tu's dream as Aerospace Engineer. She also not a person who in relationship because of money. Again their mutual understanding win my heart. The storyline teach us how to communicate with partner and be reliable towards each other.

As we know both ML and FL did really well to express the character. Dilireba is suitable for Jingjing as popular actress and Yang Yang is suitable for charismatic and intelligent character as aerospace engineer.

Might rewatch it again to feel the highlight moment such as win e-sport, Yu Tu legendary confession, sweet moment and etc.

mature drama with realistic plot ! honest review

okay so tbh ive been putting off watching this for a while because i thought why does it get so much hype? it didnt sound especially interesting, however i finished a bunch of others n had time so started this and i am glad i did!

it isnt romance focused , id say its 60:40 split between lifestyle/work and romance , which is refreshing to see

at first i thought it was a little boring but the acting was really good and the script was good too so i continued with it and it really does get better as it goes on.

there are no silly breakups, no unnecessary misunderstandings or drama, no toxic characters, no focus on solely the romance and no cringy scenes (imo) .
the main leads relationship was gradual yet maturely developed, it wasnt rushed and it shows the reality of life as an full time working adult. both have busy jobs but deapite this made it work.

i really enjoyed this drama, the plot wasnt wow factor or anything but the ost was great, acting was good! and the script is great , it is very mature and realistic which i appreciated! and i love the scenes which show the past vs present merged together - especially the basketball match scene!

id say the only downsides for me is that it was dragged out quite a lot before they started to date - however if you are interested in space and stuff then im sure you wont find it boring.

if you want something with a deep plot then maybe this isnt for you, as id say its just a nice relaxing drama to watch with no unnecessary drama.

overall id defo watch this again if i wanted to pass time!

Sweet Rom-com

If you're looking for a No-Drama Drama, I would recommend you watch this. I watch this because of Yang Yang, but I find the story and pacing good, enjoyable. There is very minimal conflict. I found two "sort of" antagonist but no noticeable and developed conflict between ML-FL and these roles. This is a fairy tale romance for me. Something to go "aww" and "gaga" about. I didn't give this a perfect score because the game and space part is rather boring for me (maybe because I'm not into either topic), and I find that Dilraba's acting is just so-so. I cringed everytime I hear her whiny and "trying to be cute" voice. It's so annoying to me. Other than these, it's an overally good drama.

SIMPLE AND BEAUTIFUL

This was a simple story. I wish they could have lessen the number of episodes to make it more sense and just some episodes just feels like a filler just to complete the series.

The main leads have great chemistry, I liked that they made it look natural like a real couple when they are doing intimate scenes. Some scenes and part are cliche.

But overall its a good watch, if you are looking for something that's light, without overly dramatic plot twists, this is for you. It's a beautiful story that we kind of heard of but not.
Watch this for the romance đź‘Ś

In my mind, YAMG is a more mature version of Love O2O. It almost has the same story, same plot and if i have to pick, i was enjoying Love O2O more than YAMG (imo) because the side characters in Love O2O have more depth and chances to shining with their own story. They also can make the gaming part more interesting and makes me as a non gamer viewer, still can enjoy and understand the story. And with YAMG, i feel that they way more too focused on the leads, and in my eyes, their story is so simple to be told in 32 episodes long.

The acting itself, well i can say that YY and DD are really fit with their characters. YY is being YY, as a handsome one and DD is also playing herself, as a succesfull actress. I am not a hater, because YY is indeed as handsome as hell, but as a character i way more like him in King's Avatar than this one. As for DD, i have to say that she is playing almost as the same in every drama that i've ever watched as a cheerfull girl and naive.

Also, the conflict in this drama is almost none, and that's a problem for me because in my mind, there is no ideal frame in this life. Life is hard, and people is struggling with their own problem from daily basis to the complex one. And ML's struggling in initial episode is almost non existent when he finally get together with the FL. The problem of having quality time with your partner in life also describe so light and the leads seems having a power to control their life, but that's not the case in real life (imo). Maybe i am a pessimistic person, but i dare not to say that people is not getting separated because they don't have time to spend with their partner, not to mention that one of them is a celebrity (too many examples to mention). The ML's also a super busy person, so how they can manage things in a short time without some major problems occured, i really don't understand.

But as a lighthearted drama, i quite like it. I just have to follow their story with a blank mind and enjoying their fluffy love scene (imo-honestly, a bit too much for my taste). You also can watch this series with your family in a relax manner. It is still a good drama, but not a great one ;)

"You are already a rabbit who has seen the most stars."

STORY: Honestly, there's not much new to offer in You Are My Glory. It is as cliché as it can get. Aside from a very slow-paced first 15 episodes, there isn't really much to see. We get a FML who's already a super star and a ML who is an accomplished aerospace engineer. Nothing about them is similar other than the fact that they went to high school together.

I'd like to point out that the slow burn of the love story is amazing. The first episodes, although negligible is a necessary plot device to establish the relationship between the leads. Watching Jingjing reignite her first love with Yu Tu while playing mobile games was a sight to behold. It's not as game-centered as Falling into Your Smile but the integration of the game has been the same.

Important points to take note is the fact that Jingjing has a huge crush on him and Yu Tu rejected her in high school. They both had a relationship with other people before coming together. They are both career driven. And both have a very healthy relationship with their parents (which is rare by CDRAMA standards).

The narration is a 10/10. There was no confusing sub-plots. There isn't even a second couple which is also very rare in cdrama. The leads managed to carry the show all on their own. I love how it centered on both of them in all instances. The first part, on Jingjing and her career laying the foundation on how they meet again. The second part, on Yu Tu and his complicated choice between family and dream and meticulously weaving Jingjing in the drama. She isn't too involve given their current relationship but just enough to support him in enforcing his decision.

Anyone who is looking for a light-watch would love to see You Are My Glory. It may be an idealistic take on modern professional couples but it works. Mainly, I'd say it was a success because its Yang Yang and Reba (the chemistry is no joke), which isn't far from the truth. But also because the writing on both character's jive so well. Audience would agree that 90% of the watch-ability would stem from their very witty and bold conversations.

ACTING/CAST: OUTSTANDING performance from Yang Yang and Reba. Two of the most brilliant from their generation of actors. The drama itself did not test their range but it did enforce their talent all the same.

MUSIC: Its one of the cutest out there. Especially the opening and closing creds. Not on par with my best (Eternal Love & Ashes of Love) but memorable enough.

REWATCH VALUE: 11/10 and would definitely recommend with first time cdrama viewers. That's how light and feel good it is. No regrets on rewatching it three times after seeing it the first time.

Heartwarming drama

I am a bit late with this drama. I tend to watch drama halfway dropping it or fast forward due to over the top dramatic or silly scenes but I am proud to say I finish every episode of this drama without skipping it. If you are into backstabbing, crazy ex dramas that try to ruin a relationship, scheming, unnecessary or over the top obstacles to get together, this is NOT the drama for you. This drama has NONE of it. Which is probably why I like it. It's just about two people trying do their best in their work and relationship. It's about achieving dream, supporting each other .The only obstacle they provide is literally how they handle long distance even then, it's not much.

The only thing I wish they portray more in the show is how the FL gets to where she is .They focus on the guy's obstacle and how he gets to where he is but the FL never gets the same story line. It's never told how she was approached to be a superstar other than 'someone asked me to be in a movie' , if she has any other dream of her own .I wish they give us more backstory about it.

Other than that,it's a good drama .

Spectacular

When the drama was announced, I read the book to know the story. The initial reason for me wanting to watch the drama was because of the cast as well as the author who wrote the story.

With all the romance dramas coming out around the same time, I was actually expecting it to be like Love Scenery where it was very gaming related. But this drama was nothing like that. It had a slow cook to perfection storyline. Unlike other Gu Man stories, the author made this story realistic. There's personal hardships for Yang Yang's character which was a big contrast to Love o2o where the male lead was like an ascended god.

The love in the drama was very sweet but mature, there's no out of line cheesiness which made it very stomach-able. The way the two journeyed into each other's arms was the best.
