Does it Lack Anything????? Definitely No!!!!

I just came across this drama through an edit on YouTube. That edit itself made me watch the whole drama. Well, now you can imagine how much impact this drama had on me. Every minute and every second of this drama kept on delivering. Kudos to the Team and the actors for creating such a wonderful Masterpiece.

STORY + ACTING + VISUAL EFFECTS + EFFORTLESSLY FUNNY + SUSPENSE = "I am Nobody"

[What more do you want???]

The story is definitely one the unique stories I have ever seen. Especially from the first episode to the last episode it just maintained the pace. Not a single moment where I felt bored and not a single scene where I wanted to skip it or fast forward it. Mostly these days I have been skipping few scenes if the drama gets boring, but this is not that kind of drama. It helped me understand how much I can enjoy even while watching a drama!!!

Oh what do I say about the acting, I can sense(I am manifesting) that the actors in this drama are going to get really famous and receive more projects from now on. Special mention to Wang Ying Lu(Bao Bao) and Peng Yu Chang(Chu Lan) for their amazing performance during the entire show. Especially Wang Ying Lu, she is so funny and fierce at the same time.

Now comes the main part, MARTIAL ARTS and VISUAL EFFECTS are the heart of the drama. They did not compromise on anything!! Maybe there is no science in the story but who cares when it is not boring and makes you wonder what is going to happen next and gives you goosebumps in few scenes. Maybe I am over hyping it........but this drama deserves all the attention & appreciation.

Also, this drama focuses on each and every detail of the martial art or the superpower they posses, just like explaining it to people like us, who doesn't have any knowledge about those. This is what makes you more interested in the drama. You may not understand few terms at first but while the episodes keep progressing you will understand everything.

I really liked how they explain the evil outsiders get punished, even though they do not show how they get punished, that explanation itself is quite content enough. This drama also tries to make you laugh even though the situation is filled with suspense and fierceness. And the whole credit goes to Zhang Chu Lan and Feng Bao Bao along with the production team. It is really not so easy to pull out a funny scene when the whole scenario is supposed to be a part of the main part of the story. Double thumps up to them for not making it awkward and making us be at ease and enjoy even the most serious parts of the story.

This is one of the dramas where I watched it for the unique story(one of it is "Forbidden Flower"), generally I watch dramas with my favourite actors or just because the trailer is good. Prior to watching the drama I don't really know any of the cast except for Neo Hu & Bi Wen Jun. I am utterly surprised why this is not getting all the hype it required(or maybe the hype is not enough).

If only they showed who Zhang Chulan's father is and what happened to them along with Feng Baobao's father and the origin of baobao's parents, I would feel that this season would be complete by itself. I hope these minute details will be revealed in season 2. Which is also the reason why I gave it a 9.5 other than this the drama is a 10 for me.

Well, maybe I can guess that this is not everyone's cup of tea but irrespective of the genre you like everyone must and should watch this drama. C-dramas are definitely delivering this 2023. Can't wait to watch more stories like this. So, I suggest everyone to go watch this!!

My suggestion to the people binge watching it is - just keep watching the drama, you might or might not understand it at first, but you will understand everything when you are halfway through it.

One last thing I would want to say is "There is romance but there is no romance". Figure it out after you watch the drama LOL.

PS - Just Two Words........."Speechlessly Amazing"!!!!! Just give this drama a fair chance :)

Not Your Typical Drama

Adapted from a web comic 一人之下, I am Nobody (异人之下) is not like your typical drama! This drama is interesting, engaging, and funny!! The drama seamlessly blends elements of Wu Xia, superpower elements, and fantasy in a modern urban setting. It features intense battles, intriguing characters, and a mysterious plot that explores the hidden world of 异人 (outsiders - human with with qi/ powers!)

The story follows Zhang Chulan, an ordinary college student whose life takes an unexpected turn after his grandfather dead body was stolen. From that point onwards, he steps into the the Outsiders world, along the way he grow, make true friends, and also go on a journey of self-discovery!

I am Nobody plot is fast-paced, keeping viewers on the edge of their seats - it is funny and engaging making you want to know more about what will transpire. Although fast-paced, but the story still unfolds casually and unrushed, it still explains the characters, their backstories and relationship dynamics.

Other than a fresh genre, what makes I am Nobody stand out is it's well-crafted characters. Not only the main character, but the supporting characters are equally intriguing, like Feng Baobao, Wang Ye, Zhang Lingyu, and more. Each of them has their own unique powers and motivations, their character dynamics also makes the story more enjoyable! The portrayals of the characters are also conveyed realistically, each actor manage to imbues their character with the character characteristic, nuance and emotional depth, that makes it very enjoyable to watch!!

Not only that, but I am Nobody also has great CGI and also unusual editing! Most of the CGI quality is commendable, the CGI has fluid action sequences with stunning visuals that bring their powers and battles to life. In addition, the fight scenes are also choreographed with precision and creativity, showcasing a variety of supernatural powers and combat styles.

The drama has done an excellent job in capturing the essence of the source material! This drama is probably one of the best drama adapted from the web comic, it stayed true to the original essence of the web comic! You can see that there are some parts where they exactly follow the web comics, from the shots and also more!!

While I am Nobody offers an exhilarating viewing experience, it does have its share of complexities. The plot can be convoluted at times, and viewers may need to pay close attention to keep up with the ever-evolving narrative.

In conclusion, I am Nobody is a definitely must watch if you enjoy adventure and action-packed battles! With it's intriguing storyline, well-developed characters, and impressive animation, it is definitely worth watching!!

HILARIOUS DRAMA

If you are a hardcore anime fan like me, YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS. If you are into comedy genre like me, YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS. If you are NOT into the mood of watching something serious with lots and lots of politics then YOU ARE GONNA LOVE THIS (just like me).

Well that sums it all. I heard this show is adapted from a Chinese anime which is pretty great on its own and I was happy that I haven't watched that one before because this way the drama feels much more hilarious , moreover, not knowing what is gonna happen next is good enough to maintain the suspense. I really went in without any expectations ( mainly for Neo) after hearing a great deal about it and from the first episode it was nonstop comedy (silly at times, not that I am complaining). Comedy is not the only thing that will glue you to your screens but it is the fight scenes so well choreographed and acted that makes it much more entertaining. It reminded me of Dragon Ball, Naruto , My hero academia and many such anime that dives into the sea of emotion, family love, friendship, journey of characters from the weakest to the strongest and of course TOURNAMENTS ( I live for all that).
But what dumbfounded me was the way each character makes it so believable even though it was comedy the emotional scenes almost made me cry bitterly. You just have to keep watching and don't stop on "the particular episode" which turned down its ratings( you'll know when you watch what I am talking about). Overall it is a really good show that I would recommend to all :) You won't be able to wait for the next episode for sure.

Amazing Cast. Amazing Storyline. Amazing Everything!

I love Feng Bao Bao and I am sure everyone loves Feng Bao Bao; no questions there. However, Zhang Chulan's character is what people would be at first like "meh", but you really need to give him attention, listen to what he says and what he does. He has such a way with words and emotions and if you think he is just being silly, there is more to him than that. There are several scenes where he delivers such amazing lines that you might want to go back and listen to them.
There are several other characters that are so good in this show like Wang Ye! It would be so exciting to find out about what he is seeing regarding Wang Chulan, and Neo Hou is perfect for this role. Bi Wenjun's character is so good and watching him fight the first time with Zhang Chulan was a treat! The brothers of NDT, the elders and even the Sinisters are so fun and interesting. The storyline is very well written, and it would be exciting to explore Baobao's origin in the future episodes. For those who are thinking whether they should or should not be watching this, I would say YOU DEFINITELY SHOULD.

REVIEWER IS VERY EXCITED AFTER FINISHING THE 12THE EPISODE.

SHUT UP AND JUST WATCH IT!!

A very different genre in the starting you will overthink a lot to continue watching it but after watching 10 episodes you will be hooked to it really worth the time.
This drama is not my usual kind of genre but it kept me intrigued from the start to the end after watching the episodes i didn't even care of there's romance or not I was just curious to know the truth.
It is a really great drama my rating in the starting of the episode was 7.5 now i changed it to 10 after finishing it. I think there should be more people watching this drama and the rating should be higher it's too underated definitely deserves another season. And if your into animes it's a win win treat for you .This drama is really worth your time it's my first time giving a review to something. So stop thinking and just watch i just hate the fact it's so underated.
And Absolutely loved characters wang chulan and Feng baobao actors did the great job at portraying them.It is a happy ending for everyone. but there were something's that i didn't understand so I'm hoping there will be another season.

overall it's an intriguing plot, fantastic acting and high quality production. Highly recommend it. Definitely worth binging it!!!

Weirdly interesting and fun 1st half but poor writing in the 2nd half.

While “I am Nobody” was airing, I read good things about it. Little did I know I’ve stumbled onto one of the wackiest C-dramas I’ve ever watched. I really did not have much expectations and I never read the comics. I’ve seen some live action Japanese adaptations of anime and manga, and am not always a big fan of the comedy. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the first half of the drama, despite its weird comedy. But, I was also disappointed in the second half when the writing got sloppy and they seemed to run out of money.

What I Enjoy:

1. Bao Bao - One of my favorite characters in the drama and also in all of C-drama comedies. She is hilarious!!! Wang Ying Lu did a fantastic job portraying the emotionless, naive, crazy, violent and just pure wacky character. I look forward to funny things that come out of her mouth and how she reacts to different situations.

2. Peng Yu Chang - This is my first time watching him and I’m surprised to find out that he’s been in the industry for quite some time. His acting is probably the best of the bunch amongst the younger cast members of the drama. He really does stand out in his portrayal of the protagonist, Zhang Chu Lan. The success of the show rests on his shoulders and he does an admirable job.

3. Veteran Supporting Cast - “I am Nobody” is one of those dramas where the more experienced, veteran actors really outshine the younger generation. There are so many great actors, especially Old Taoist Lao Tian Shi/Zhang Zhi Wei, Grandpa Zhang Huai Yi, Taoist Tian Jin Zhong and Elder Lu Jin. I’ve enjoyed every single one of their scenes, serious, emotional and comedic ones.

4. Action Scenes - There are some pretty great fight scenes in the first half of the drama and during the competition. This is also one of the reasons I want to watch this drama as early comments praised some of its fight scenes. There are quite a few memorable fights during the competition.

5. Comedy - I normally don’t quite over-the-top comedy and shy away from pure comedies. But I thoroughly enjoy all the jokes, second-hand embarrassment, especially when the jokes happen with the veterans. Their deadpan expression while speaking some of these funny lines, make the scenes even more funny. BaoBao’s Sichuan accent also adds to her strange but unique personality.

What I have Mixed Feelings about or Don’t Like:

1. Second Half - I did not read the comics, so I am not sure if the drama follows the plot faithfully or loosely. However, I was very disappointed that after the competition, I did not see more camaraderie between the younger main cast and/or their adventures in continuing the quest to find out about the truth. Instead, we got an unimportant detour of Wang Ye’s family story and barely got Zhang Chu Lan, Wang Ye, Feng Bao Bao and Zhu Ge Qing back together. Zhang Lin Yu got his own side plot of accepting himself and continuation of the ill-developed romance. We spent so much time in Lao Tian Shi’s ‘revenge’ and another character’s search for their sister. I am not saying these side plots are not important to the development of the main plot, but screentime is not distributed appropriately. Maybe the drama should not have focused so many episodes on the competition, so it leaves enough time to develop all the other subplots afterwards. But then, the competition episodes are the most fun! If you spend so much time for viewers to get to know the main characters, then give me more of them together!

2. Inconsistent acting - This drama has a very big supporting cast of young actors and actresses. Some of them I’ve seen in other dramas and they did fine. But aside from Peng Yu Chang and Wang Ying Lu, the others don’t really stand out or exceed my expectations. I’m glad Neo Hou is not in another cold-on-the-outside role (can’t say the same for Bi Wen Jun) and he definitely acts better when he’s given more. Even so, he has room for improvement. A few other minor supporting actors are below average. No one is horrible, just inconsistent.

3. CGI - I wonder if the drama spends all their money on the special effects in the first half of the drama. Maybe the competition episodes use up all their budget, because in the second half, there are some pretty bad special effects. You can tell the green screen is right behind the actors.

4. Words Disappear - This is very personal and might only bother me. The drama did not give me a chance to fully read all the Chinese characters/sentences on the screen. And this happens not just once or twice. Instead of using a narrator to give an update or epilogue of what happened, the drama flashes these words on the screen so quickly. I tried to pause and read, but that gets annoying and doesn’t always work. I guess I should have turned on English subtitles, because I can read English a lot faster than Chinese.

5. Product Placement - It’s been a while since I watched a C-drama with so much in-your-face product placements. It was funny when they worked it into the advertising of the event, but after a while, these products are just everywhere. I thought I would only come across this level of product placement in a Thai BL.

Overall, this is an interesting drama and I had a pretty good time for most part. But this is definitely not for everyone and I can see many get put off by its humor. I would have given the first half an 8.5 and the second half 7.5 for a lower budget drama. So, an average of 8.0 would be my final rating. I am not sure if season 2 is going to happen, but I don’t think I’ll watch it. I am quite disappointed in the second half and really wish the writing is better.

Other Random Observations:
1. There are times I got confused if I am watching a wuxia drama (historical) or a modern drama.
2. This drama has a very eclectic soundtrack.
3. Peng Yu Chang/Zhang Chu Lan cries a lot!
4. Neo Hou looks so pretty! He can pass for a pretty girl with a nice, long ponytail.
5. So many characters and their signature moves that I get confused sometimes.

A UNIQUE WATCH!!!

This was a fun and intense ride for me...I actually loved everything about this drama, I love how they managed to balance the action fantasy and comedy while throwing in some really heart breaking scenes.

The characters each suited their role and I must say I love most of them...our male lead was chaotic funny and silly but that was more of a defense mechanism seeing how he would suddenly become serious at times...my second favourite was Feng bao bao I loved how Clueless and effortlessly funny she was..it won me over...the rest of the characters like Wang ye were amazing too..since this was a drama with many different characters I love how they all managed to blend into the story perfectly and made it more Interesting and fun.

My highlight of the drama was the chaotic duo of ZCL and FBB these two had an amazing and silly friendship one where they look out for each other and protect eachother and at the same time do all sorts of silly stuff together, I love how they kept their relationship strictly pure and dint add any unnecessary romance.

The action scenes were intense and exciting especially accompanied by these up beat back ground music..the CGI and cinematography was absolutely amazing.

This was my unique watch of the year and I hope they make more dramas like these in the future..I also hope for a second season.

The best of best of best dramas.

I didn't watch the donghua, so I didn't know anything, but just from on how the description was, I could tell that it was gonna be really good. I founded this drama when it was postponed so I didn't watch it yet. Few days later ep 1 came on my youtube recommendations. Didn't know what drama that was so I searched it here (my dumbo brain). Founded it was the drama that got postponed. At that time still didn't watch it. Well let's just say this was the Minghao effect. When We Were Young (2018) came on my youtube recommendation. It was my first c-drama and it was staring Hou Ming Hao (Neo Hou), and I searched up his name on mdl cause maybe he has a drama that I can watch. And I went there and saw this drama there and he was the main role! Well that was when I started watching it I couldn't help myself. It was still postponed back then but it was only for 3 days! So it was still okay I remember the storyline from the first 4 eps.

I was only there to see him tho, but he didn't really appear much in the first few eps but it was okay! Cause I fell in love with Zhang Chu Lan & Feng Bao Bao. Their chemistry is soo good. I thought ZCL didn't have any power at first. Y'all know those dramas where the ML suddenly gets powers out of nowhere? Yeah I thought it was that and that was actually one of my worries cause I don't really like those. Well good thing it turns out that he had power since he was born!

The outsiders martial art contest was probably one of the best parts in the drama

The best fight in my opinion was ZGQ vs WY. ZGQ had high expectations but he didn't know that WY possesses one of the Eight Supremes. Well I mean WY could easily escaped the barrier that ZGQ made when trying to stop the guy that was trying to consume the girl's qi (let's just say I forgoted his name) but he didn't, so I think that's when ZGQ thought that he was gonna win the match.

WY vs ZCL match... first started was just pure comedy. FBB was trying to bury him but failed! WY used his powers but also failed! FBB chased WY till the arena and ZCL's face! He was madd shocked. And the match was an eating contest. Poor guy WY was mad hungry after being chased by FBB from night till sunrise. Bro was probs very sleepy also. I'm so glad that WY gave a option to ZCL on to stop finding out about the truth. Cause ZCL did change his mind

Now let's talk about WY vs ZG Siblings

THIS part was the best scene in the whole drama in my opinion. WY did parkour and looked so cool omg. When he fought with ZG siblings, he was literally not showing any of his powers at first, just Tai Chi skills & he still won that part. When the siblings said that they were gonna take it seriously now (which they did, approved from WY), WY also took it seriously. In the middle of the match ZGQ calls him and asked him to give them a good lesson. Well guess he really did by using Gate of Gale!

This foursome are the funniest!

ZCL, FBB, WY & ZGQ. These 4 are just pure comedy. It's basically just FBB & her 3 musketeers. The way their faces were covered at first when they were trying to catch the Outsiders... FBB literally looked so done with them.

Finale!

FBB protected ZCL for 12 years! She stayed at his side for so long! ZCL's power is really unstoppable. I really liked the part where WY, ZLY & FXT realized the white beam or whatever it is. They came to help him at first and then EVERYONE came to help him. ZZW was the last key to breaking the barrier. Just one tap, ONE TAP and the barrier broke. Expected from ZZW. FBB was saved but she lost her memories with ZCL, and ZCL fell into a coma for 3 months. FBB has been taking care of him all along, hopefully they get to know each other more in S2! When Xu San & Xu Si brought him out of the room, everyone was waiting for him there. They look so proud of him! ZCL dropped a tear when seeing them, but after seeing ZLY & XH holding hands, his face was in maddd shocked and in disbelief. Glad ZLY & XH got the happy ending they deserved tho.

WY: I finally found someone that is lazier than me

Well that's the end of my review!

Quote from ZCL:
"Everyone came to this world as a seed. They will grow up and take their own paths eventually. The paths that everyone is taking might be difficult or tough. It might be a happy one or a sad one. We've experienced all kinds of things. However, we didn't give up. We still move forward with determination. Everyone is unique in their own ways. Everyone may be different, but we possess the same courage and strength. We grow and love. Cultivation isn't about the past. It's about the present." - Zhang Chu Lan

Never Ending Jaw Drops

I'll start of by saying that the most impressive thing that I love about this is the CGI, the amount of work they must have put in is incredible and it really paid of. The lightning, the other magical aspects all look so REAL and beautiful; I can't even explain in words how impressed I am. So if you're a fan of the magic aspect of dramas then please have no second guesses and just jump straight in.

CHARACTERS/ACTING:
The characters and acting were on point. The casting crew truly once again fitted the actors amazingly to the role and so did the actors themselves. To the outfits, hair and makeup everyone truly came out as a masterpiece.

The acting as well, I adored the serious but comedy side of each person and how they made even the most serious emotions so enjoyable to watch.

I have to say I am truly in love with baobao... the girl is a badass and a whole mood.

STORYLINE/PLOT:
I AM IN LOVE WITH THE NON STOP MYSTERY AND TWISTS, with the constant questions to the magic and action fights every episode, they really manage to put out something new every time and I can tell you my jaw dropped constantly. Once again the comedy side was one of the main reasons I could keep going, just like a fresh gust of wind to the face which kept it refreshing.

The modern twists to the traditional side made me chuckle too, it's such a strange sight to see a Taoist just casually sitting with those colourful sneakers and an iPad in his hands but still being in the older style robe ?
loved it

Also what is the writers love of characters constantly losing limbs? Istg someone lost at least an arm every episode (°д°) was hilarious at times though haha

One thing I would like to learn more about though is Chulan before he went into the outsider world, like what happened to him going to uni? Did he drop out? Was he still going or did he just ditch? Like what happened, did he even have any friends that were like wtf did he go? Like he just kind of vanished from it apart from the slight mention in the last episode.
It isn't a huge hole in the plot or anything but more of a personal thought that I had for a majority of the time I was watching.

OVERALL STAND POINT:
Overall, I had a BLAST with this drama, you can truly not get bored with the constant bombs of story and lore being thrown at you not to mention the ending had me sobbing buckets but laughing in joy at the same time which is rare. I do have to say it gets confusing at times with just how much story and background there is, and if you miss a bit then it can go into a bit of a twist to understand; but if you follow closely and don't randomly skip parts then it isn't too much of an issue.

Will be waiting for a possible 2nd part for sure... ?

I Am ... Feng Baobao's Slave

Easily one of the top shows of the year. Watch for the tight story, vigorous pacing, excellent acting, dazzling action and cinematography. And most of all, the nonstop hilarity that will make you laugh so hard that you beg for mercy.

All this would not be possible without Feng Baobao, the star of the show and one of the most iconic and badass female characters, ever.

My review is short because MDL lost my review. Will rewrite it later.

Rating: 9 + 0.5 (MDL inflation). Hoping the show finishes with a bang.

It Was Nifty

Really had no idea what I was getting myself into because other than BWJ, I've never seen any of the other actors. Plus I've never seen nor heard of the comics or donghua this was based on. So was completely flying blind going into it. Another thing that was keeping me from starting it, was that zombies were mentioned and that's a genre I take a hard pass on. Thankfully the zombies--if you can call them that--were far from The Walking Dead or Resident Evil. They were there for maybe 2 to 3 episodes and looked more like something out of MJ's Thriller with too much makeup. They were comedic and not too bright.

Pros: What I really liked was the unraveling of the mysteries, the growth of friendships, having each others backs, the fight scenes, and the really awesome CGI; had to be my favorite part. It was nifty. The ending fight scene was probably the best because everyone that mattered even those that turned over a new leaf were part of it. Chief Taoist was like the granddaddy of awesomeness when he added icing on the cake. Over all, I hope season 2 explains more and has characters not just disappear and reappear randomly, but are given justifiable entrances and exits. FBB is my new favorite robot girl. From the protagonists, I think everyone was pretty great.

Cons: The ML annoyed me a lot; I won't lie. His goofiness was too much at times while other times he'd just walk around pouting like a 5 year old kid who didn't get any candy. I did ffw a lot because much of that comedy wasn't for me. I preferred when he acted and spoke intelligently. I feel the writing was stilted at times. Plus, each time character was charged with something, the mandarin writing on the screen and subbing overlapped and you couldn't understand what was written.

Would I recommend it? Sure, why not? Especially if you know the donghua it's based on and really like awesome looking CGI and unraveling fantastical mysteries plus group dynamics.

Refreshingly unpredictable

This is probably the highest I've rated a drama, especially a modern one since I prefer Chinese costume dramas. I picked this up because it was widely recommended and am glad I did. I thought initially it was very shounen-anime-esque (Tournament arc, superpowers), but no it's definitely distinctly Chinese in many ways and not cliche. There are SO many surprises and very unpredictable, which I loved. I hate when I can predict how things will go, and even if you think things will fall into a trope, it always surprises you.

I won't make this a long review as there are others that go in-depth already, but overall I'd consider it nearly perfect with the exception that the I didn't particularly care for the humor of the first few episodes. After that the humor is genuinely hilarious (not cringey like the first 2 episodes), and it handles the serious aspects so well also. Storytelling, acting, music, visual effects, pacing, were all very good. Visual effects and pacing are especially impressive because Chinese dramas tend to not do as well in these aspects (no hate, I love Chinese dramas but I think even the biggest fans will agree on that).

There definitely needs to be a season 2 considering the ending (not all aspects of the main mystery are revealed). I believe the manhua it's based on is still ongoing so we'll see what a second season will bring us!
