One of the best adaptations of a manga/webtoon I've ever seen
Eeeeeeeeh I loved reading this so I was both excited and worried about the drama adaptation but THEY DID SUCH A GOOD JOB ahhhh.Production/Cinematography:
Obviously high quality, but there was a lack of something I don’t know whether it’s a filter, lens type, or post-editing element but it took a few minutes to adjust to. Definitely not the end of the world, just something I wanted to note.
Acting:
Oh my GOOOOOD everyone did so well!! I loved every character and the actors/actresses brought them to life straight off the page it was such a delight to see. I was so worried that the actors just wouldn’t be able to come close to the original characters but I’m so glad I was worried for nothing. Amazing, stupendous, truly a delight.
Writing:
I will say it has been quite a while since I read the webtoon, but from what I remember, they didn’t seem to have changed much of anything. With a story like this that has a realistic setting, situation, characters, and whatnot there isn’t any need to adapt much to make a drama seem more realistic. So, overall great writing.
Chemistry/Romance/Kissing:
The chemistry was present and again, it really felt the same as reading the original did so kudos bravo. Interestingly enough, I think I actually felt that the romance maybe worked slightly better as a live action than in the webtoon but maybe that’s because I haven’t read it in a minute. Kissing was realistic, nothing seemed off about it the actors did a good job.
Music/SFX:
Nothing too jarring with the music, just the typical questionable music choice once or twice. Once again, we can’t escape those cheesy ass songs with lyrics that blatantly state the feelings being portrayed for some reason. SFX were good, nothing stood out as odd.
Soooo good overall. Kept me locked into the story the whole time and I am blown away by how well it compares to the webtoon.

Very good and captivating
I agree like most people that the storyline is a bit typical in BL romance; university setting, enemies to lovers, forced to work together, etc. Despite this, it captures your attention like no other. Both the actors are damn talented. Not only are they both very good-looking but have a certain charm as well. Not to forget, the chemistry between the two actors is electric. Their interactions were the best throughout the series and their acting was so good.
Another thing I enjoyed was their work talk. I guess that makes me a bit of a nerd but I enjoyed their talks about designing and developing the game.
Including a lesbian character was a big plus in my books. However, she was not in a relationship but her mentioning that she had a girlfriend made me like her even more than I did before. She is extremely attractive. No doubt.

The best in representing the enemies-to-lovers trope!
The incredible chase between the main leads is memorable as it was youthful, playful, and impactful. Starting from Sang-U’s sheer coldness towards everyone, it reflects onto his own atmosphere and plays a huge part in emphasizing the contrast between his and Jae Young’s conflicting personalities. Sang-U were consistent in not breaking his known image as Jae Young were consistent in trying to break the said image of Sang-U. All these main points discreetly complete the puzzle that makes this show’s remarkable and wonderful performance. The conflict that the main leads went through inherently focused on something that is questionably relevant up to this day which had me hoping that they would discuss and portray those problems fairly, and they did exactly that. The take they had towards these problems weren’t exactly as heavy, and it couldn’t be classified as light-hearted as well which makes it perfect to me; especially if you are considering to watch this show and anticipating a light-hearted, cute, and gentle outcome. Moreover, the chemistry between the actors is outstanding, seeing that most viewers are hooked and wanted to know more about the said actors after watching the show (I’m so happy when I found out that they are both K-pop idols! King behavior me thinks). The viewers are immediately attached, including myself, which definitely played a part in making this show successful as it is today.
I’m giving this a 9.5/10 rating, considering all the mentioned points above. I didn’t give this a perfect rating only because of the short episode duration and lack of episodes of the series. I’m still longing for the day when Korean BLs would be able to produce 40 min - 1hr long episodes with 12 episodes or more. If we’re going to talk about the flaws that this series have, it would really just be me wanting more Sang-U and Jae Young interactions. Lastly, this might be a very late review as this ended a few weeks ago, but I'm telling everyone who's reading this review to re-watch this series again as it is definitely worth your time!

I finally understand it!
Pals, I finally understand it! The hype, the love, the fanbase of this masterpiece!I put it off for the longest time and regret it! It is an easy watch, 8 episodes a ~25 minutes, but it felt like seconds! I could easily watch 20 episodes with a runtime of 50+ minutes with those two leads and the support crew is also amazing!
Their chemistry is through the roof and the skinship is soooo natural and sweet and, you know, the chemistry is chemistrying! You can see and feel the build up, the soft smiles and glances and the frustrated frowns of not understanding the emotions and body reactions for someone who always thinks logically and I had a blast!
I found it hard to find something that would catch my interest lately, my squirrel brain couldn't find the nuts, but oh pals, I finally found it! I watched a lot of Thai Bls in the past month and none of them was bad, but they got repetative and I found myself more often than not parallel on my phone (I don't understand Thai, so I had to rev back a lot of times!).
But Semantic Error had me from the first second (the visuals! They are no joke!) till the last second (just THEM! Their relationship is so naturel, no flinching or frowning or stiff shoulders, just smooth kisses and touches!) and the story had a really nice pacing, the behind the scenes work was great, the lighting and coloring just beautiful and the music was on point and had me dancing along!
Sorry for my english, I'm too excited to console google translator xD
If you were unsure about it, just watch it! It is definitly worse your time and it doesn't take too much of it! Sadly....

I hate him!
Sangu does all the work for a project so he leaves Jaeyeong’s name off of the project. He looses his credit and as revenge decides to be annoying and work with him on a project together. It’s a web series so it’s pretty short and there’s not much to talk about. Cinematography is really pretty with the little animations that show and I actually find this couple cute. Im glad we got full french kissing. The only reason it’s not higher is because the Jaeyeong is an asshole, annoying and cringy at the beginning. Its so icky that I was starting to feel bad for Sangu and I relate to him a lot. I love the subtle (and not so subtle) ways they both change when they’re together.

by far a revolutionary k-bl
in this essay i will explain how semantic error is and will always be one of the best k-bls out there…starting with the perfect adaptation from the novel to the incredible production of the whole thing, i literally can’t find anything i don’t like about it, after watching semantic error twice i decided to read the webtoon and i’ve never done that in my life, then the novel, and in between that i re-watched the movie/series a few more times.
and maybe i AM biased but jaechan is an excellent actor and seoham executed his character perfectly i feel like there were no other options as sangwoo and jaeyoung. they belong to their roles.
this bl had an interesting impact on the media, it still is ‘charting’ and to this day people keep finsing themselves going back to rewatch!
overall, semantic error is a fun, humorous but romantic and lovely movie/series!

Addicting once you start watching
I watched the movie format of this rather than the original eight episodes. I have to say, as I started to watch the first few minutes, it felt much more like a complete comedy. I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with it, but given the premise of the series, I was unable to stop watching, simply because I couldn't imagine how these two characters were going to get together. So I had to just keep going with it to find out. I'm so glad I did.Passing the 30 or 40 minute mark of the movie, I t was so addicting to follow, I couldn't take my eyes off the tv.
Excellent story line and the actors had perfect chemistry together. I was not familiar with Seo Ham or Jae Chan, but I will look for their acting in the future.
An absolute feel good series (movie) with a great ending.

Obsessed. I am OBSESSED.
I loved this. LOVED it. As an American, shows with BL are more common and easy to find, but this may be one of the best I have ever seen--ADORED the actors, cute story but honestly? The scene in the empty restaurant alone makes this one of the best BL dramas I have ever seen. Pretty sure I would walk to the ends of the earth for Park Seo-ham after that, because he is absolutely FIRE.I was actually sorry this wasn't a bit longer, and perhaps even more developed (both ML had plenty that could have been explored just based on their surface notes, the OCD of Sunwoo, the back story of Jae...I would have been more than happy to watch them for 16 episodes. Seo-ham hasn't done much that I can find but he's got a fan in me for good after this.
Trust me...the restaurant scene. It is literally EVERYTHING.

why is this not rated higher?
One of the few I rewatch!Good story writing and good acting! emphasis on the writing and acting because so many dramas do this poorly and that add a bunch of spice hoping to mask how terrible their drama is.
Not this one!
It’s a decent enemies to lovers trope and it was nice seeing their relationship evolve. I also like the bits of humor in the drama without being cringe or cheesy.

no errors found!
honestly, i first watched this when i went through my first obsession with kbls, back after it came out. i was taken aback by how smoothly everything went and i was even expecting it to go sideways as i finished the last episode. it simply DELIVERS. the actors all knew their role and place, the music is honestly over-the-top (i listen to romantic devil on a daily basis), and the way they adapted the storyline from the manhwa still amazes me, because even being in a still sort of restrictive country like south korea, the team sorted out how to show stuff like sexual tension without getting explicit. i love this show.i recommend that everyone watches it at least once in their lives!
