The cold body of middle school student Soo Jin is found at an abandoned public bathhouse. The father, Sang Hyun, is helpless in the face of his daughter’s death. And one day, Sang Hyun receives an anonymous text message with information about the killer. At the address in the message, he finds Cheol Yong laughing while watching a video showing his daughter as she is raped and killed.
After he kills Cheol Yong in a fit of rage, Sang Hyun finds out about the existence of an accomplice and sets out to find him. Upon examining Cheol Yong’s murder scene, Eok Kwan – the detective who leads the investigation into Soo Jin’s murder – realizes that Sang Hyun is the killer and sets out on his trail. This movie will give you one big ass dilemma and conflict.
You are going to choose and there is no in between. This movie will leave you thinking..

The story is gruesome, horrible and tear-jerking, and they executed this amazingly. I am so happy I saw this movie! You'll het sucked into the movie within the first 15 minutes. It's a story that (sadly) happens all over the world. This movie gives you the conflict and dilemma to think about. But you also see that this conflict and dilemma is thought about by the other characters in this movie.
The actors were amazing, especially Jung Jae young. This man is a fucking god. He made me cry, he made me sit on the edge of my seat, he made me even say "oh my god". He is a genius and he totally moved me in this movie!
The music was well chosen, there are a few parts without music, but you barely notice because you are in such of a conflict with yourself during this movie.

If you are doubting to watch this movie; please don't and just watch it! It has got a great story, they executed this so well and this will be worth your time!!

The film is as good as most South Korean films are. But what makes it different from usual revenge films is the treatment and portrayal of emotions. In the beginning you might feel the film is like usual revenge films but as it proceeds with the storytelling, you find it is NOT. Jung Jae-young, who left me highly impressed in CONFESSION OF MURDER, does another great job here as he's highly impressive in the act he delivers. He's the soul of the film and he fully realizes it.

The film has great visuals at the same time. The thrills work big time, and the action sequences impress. The editing is excellent, as the film never bores. The message delivered by the film is felt well. Kudos to the director for portraying the brutal reality of the society well.

BROKEN is a film which not only entertains, but also leaves you broken especially towards the end.
