One last dance <3

First of all, this movie needs to be separated from the drama. It’s not a continuation, the film’s inspired/adapted from it. Nonetheless, they managed to create another masterpiece that’ll be another great hit. When I first finished watching the series, I fell into a rabbit hole and couldn’t get out. I kept watching the bts and all the stuff I could find. It took some time to finally be able to get out lol.

I had the opportunity to see this in Taiwan hehe. It has all the surprise elements and keeps you on your toes. Although it’s a fantasy plot, the characters are extremely detailed and makes it all feel real. The story feels like you’re playing connect the dots, clues will be given, but you’ll not realize it after everything’s revealed, and your mind’s blown off to the moon lmao. All your attention is needed (like the series) and pls don’t blink as you’ll miss important stuff lol. Acting is amazing as ever as we already know :)

Don’t get me started on the music. I have downloaded every single song, it’s soo good!! It contains many that were used before but they added 3 new ones (I think) and they’re great. They’re all available on Spotify.

Now I wanna rewatch the series again though I already watched it 2 times haha. This movie is a rly good closure and the best way to say goodbye. Like the drama, it’s a film I’ll remember and cherish forever…

Different time loop, same heartbreak

This movie is a sequel in the sense that it uses characters that are already beloved — and for that I did love it. It was beautiful to see Huang Yu Xuan and Li Zi Wei fall in love again, and my heart broke again for the tragedies that they had to go through.

This movie is not, however, really a "sequel" in the sense that the story from the drama is continuing; while the drama's occurrences are canon and ARE mentioned, I felt like it was almost negligible — it was treated more like a prologue, which was honestly kind of disappointing for me because I was hoping that the existing story from the drama and its loose ends would be addressed.

Instead, this movie seemed to introduce a whole new plot (a whole new time loop) — which was A LOT. I almost feel like this could've been an entire season 2 and we would've gotten much needed time with the plot and the characters who were now pretty different people from the ones we knew in the original series.

Nevertheless, as someone who absolutely loves the characters I still cried and laughed and felt butterflies along with them, and while the new plot was definitely just as mind-boggling and tear-inducing, there were just questions that I wish were answered, memories I wish were retrieved, and conversations and confrontations I wish they had.

One thing that this movie absolutely did right, however, is give Wang Quan Sheng his deserved backstory and screentime. WQS was a character that was painfully neglected in the drama despite having one of the most impactful stories, and he never had his story told until now. It was heart-wrenching and possibly one of my favorite parts of the entire film.

All-in-all, this movie just isn't what I expected and I wanted a teensy bit more from it. And yet...yes, I still cried throughout the entire thing. Yes, my brain hurts like hell trying to figure the timeline out. Yes, you should watch it.

You Have Been Weighed, You Have Been Measured, and You Have Been Found Wanting

This movie is a direct sequel to the 2019 TV series. However, by attempting to design a plot that does not require the audience to have watched the series first, it leaves the movie feeling a little flat. Ultimately, reducing the movie to a greatest hits version of the TV series. You got the longing for Li Zi Wei in Act 1, the mysterious package with the Wu Bai cassette tape and blue Sony Walkman II that sets up Act II, Huang Yu Xuan’s spirit possessing Chen Yun Ru’s body, etc. There’s even the same soundtrack cue’s from the series.

Following on the heels of a massively successful series is no easy feat, and I commend the production cast and crew for taking on the challenge. Screenwriter Hermes Lu, makes a valiant effort in attempting to recapture the mind-bending twists and turns of the series as well as tug on our heart strings as we eagerly await Li Zi Wei and Huang Yu Xuan’s happy ending. However, with a runtime of only 1hr 47min, it’s a lot of story to cram into a very short amount of time. Which results in a hasty resolution to the mobius loop paradox in Act III. With the original cut of the film being over 3 hours long, you have wonder what was left on the cutting room floor.

With that being said; if the film is available in your area, seeing this film in a movie theater is a must! Award winning sound designer, Kuo Li-Chi, weaves an audio masterpiece in simulating the sensation of traveling back in time. He interlaces the sounds of a clock ticking backwards with Wu Bai’s “Last Dance.” But not the original version of “Last Dance.” He manipulates the song by slowing down the tempo, and isolates the left and right channels to be out of sync. Giving the audience a sense of spacial dissonance. It’s an experience that can only truly be enjoyed in surround sound. Additionally, Kuo Li-Chi shared that the number of ticks of the second hand that the audience hears was carefully selected. Can you decipher its meaning?

Fans of the show who have eagerly been awaiting these long two years need no convincing to watch and root for their favorite couple. But for everyone else, I recommend you start with the series. If you are satisfied with that ending, you can stop there. If you need more, the movie will always be waiting here for you. Just as Li Zi Wei will always be waiting for his Huang Yu Xuan.

Original was a feast, this is a mostly tasty snack

Good adaptation, so cool seeing it on the big screen, lots of little Easter eggs from the drama. Overall enjoyed it but the drama is much better. Too much to cram in less than 2 hours and the plot was not as tight because of it. The original drama was intelligent and made you think but didn’t confuse you quite as much as this movie did at certain points. Not sure if it’s better to have seen or not seen the drama first because of this. You might be confused without the context of the drama, but you also might be confused because they meshed old and new things together and sometimes it didn’t blend so well. I don’t know if it’s because they combined some things from the drama and drastically altered other parts, but it left me scratching my head more at the logic of how it all fit together and it lost some of the emotional impact.

Production quality was great and included some of the original beloved OST with a couple new songs.

I think they tried really hard pay homage to the drama with a new twist and give everyone a more happy, clear ending. Worthwhile adaptation but the drama holds my heart!

To Just See You Again

I knew I had to watch this movie when I first heard that Someday or One day would be remade into a film. And finally, I got to watch it!! I didn't have high expectations so it did not disappoint me, since I already knew that it is hard to outdo the original. This movie is really just a chance for fans of the drama to see Li Zi Wei and Huang Yu Xuan fall in love again and love this couple. And I have to say that this movie successfully did that. It let you happily see these characters and this world one more time. It is really a fan service and a last goodbye to these characters and it's so bittersweet to see them again after already letting them go and then having to say goodbye again :(((

The plot is similar to the drama but also different. It is hard to describe, but the time loop logic is similar but somewhat changed. The time loops still made sense though, which I am thankful for. But it is also not hard to understand as long as you watched the drama version before since it is related. I really liked how they made small references here and there to moments in the drama that you would only know if you were a big fan of the drama. It felt very special as a viewer who loved the drama. My favorite reference had to be LZW's meat bun joke aha. Some plot points obviously are different as there are a few new characters and storylines but they were nice changes to make the movie different. I also liked that this time the love story is between the actual Li Zi Wei and Huang Yu Xuan in their real selves. It is a beautiful love story being told again.

I absolutely loved how Greg, Alice, and Patrick easily went back into their characters for the movie. It felt as if the drama wasn't released a few years ago but a few months ago. Their characters just feel like a part of them and I can't imagine how any other remakes can outdo them as Li Zi Wei, Huang Yu Xuan, and Mo Jun Jie. They are just perfect together! I liked how the movie gave some screen time to Wang Quan Sheng and Chen Yun Ru and they had their own storyline. Everyone had a chance to shine. It was a shame that I felt like Jun Jie didn't show up enough though.

The new soundtrack for the movie was also amazing!! Just as heartbreakingly good as the drama's ost. Especially Shi Shi's track! Last Dance always hits me in a certain spot when I hear it though :(

Anyways, this film is great for drama fans to see more of this couple as there isn't anything super great about it. I felt like I loved it more because I already love these characters and I have a strong attachment to this story and the world they built in the drama. I can't help but rate it higher because I love them so much. I think this film is a nice epilogue and it helps me happily say goodbye to them. I actually teared up watching and this couple and story will always hold a special spot in my heart. It will always be an unforgettable drama. Those who haven't watched the drama yet or didn't like the drama will probably be confused or not enjoy it as much. So please watch the drama first if interested!

"It is better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all"- Lord Tennyson

First of all, even though this is an adaptation of the drama, I think it's better to watch the drama before the movie because there is a lot of unpacking in a short time. Where as the drama takes it's time to explain the complicated time loop.

This is one of the most beautiful movies of all time. The soundtrack was the prettiest thing about this movie. Since music is a very important part of this movie, the musics did the movie proper justice.I'm Never going to be bored of the soundtrack.

The characters were awesome. I loved every character in this movie. I love the fact that we could see more of WQS's story in the movie. The plot and the character's will always have My heart.

The Cinematography is also good. The acting was top notch..

I don't normally rewatch movies, but i might rewatch this one.
Overall, This one was a 10/10 experience!!I would definitely recommend to a friend.

Completely confused

I decided to watch the movie instead of the series because for once I just wanted to watch a story in under 2 hours. And even though the actors are great and I loved the love between the two leading actors I was left totally confused. Past, present, past, present again and then the doubles of the main characters. Then they throw in the man she married . Too many twists and turns for my liking. The best part is the end where the leads are still alive and become engaged. I do not think I have the patience to rewatch this dram a couple of more times to try and comprehend what is happening.

Great but not as good as the drama

I loved the drama so much, so I was so excited for the movie and re watched the whole drama to watch the movie, but I wasn''t as satisfied as I thought I'd be :(
I guess I was hoping for an evident continuation, and this wasn't that.
Loved that they ended up together (even if I didn't really understand if that has a meaning or it was just another time line) but I would've loved to see them remembering their past story line at least, Felt the movie was literally the same storyline that was shown in the drama just in another setting.
I was still impressed by the actor's portrayal in the different characters and ages. And the chemistry between the leads is always on point.

What would you do for love?

"It is better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all!"

I have a huge headache!

I should stop trying to find logic in time travel movies! It is impossible to find seeing how complex the very notion is.

I saw the series a couple of years ago, I have no memory of it only a vague feeling of total incomprehension and loss: all that travelling back and forth was headache inducing. The movie is just the same only shorter. So the headache arrives really quickly!

I think that the movie is loosely connected with the series. Again, it is a story of lovers who travel back in time, using a walkman, in order to save the loved one from dying! Eventually I realized that there were four different persons trying to change the past. Unsuccessfully!

Only when they learn the lesson quoted above (and at the end of the movie) can they sort everything out!

It is a sci fi movie so let's just leave it in the realm of fantasy and enjoy it for what it is , a fun ride! So I have no intention to nitpick and overanalyze the plot point and the travel plans.

I liked it better than the drama: it is shorter. The actors are back but did Greg Hsu sign a contract demanding to be the only good looking person in the movie? Alice was made to wear frumpy clothes and horrible wigs and Patrick a moustache!

The music was nice though if I never hear Last Dance by Wu Bei again it will be too soon! The rest was better since we heard it less!

Anyway, the movie is fun. And now let me go and get a paracetamol! My head is killing me!

Beautiful closure to the original drama!

In the film, they brought closure to the original drama series by giving each lead cast their happy endings! The two leads went through a lot, losing each other in different time zones and saving one another, sacrificing one another to allow the other person to live, this part is truly touching! For the 2nd male lead, Mo Jun Jie, they finally gave him his happy ending reuniting with Chen Yun Ru. I was so happy and touched for this part as in the original drama series, we can see how much Mo Jun Jie love Chen Yun Ru for her, despite how negative she may be. All in all, the film got me tearing at the end because of all the happy endings the lead cast have gotten after all the hardship they face to meet each other in the same time zone! And, in addition to the original soundtracks (Last dance, Someday or one day, Xiang Jian Ni, there are a few new soundtracks that are pretty decent too, including one that was sang by the female lead Alice Ko herself!) After watching the movie, I will definitely revisit the drama series again to make sense of everything!

I had very high expectations for this movie since the original drama series was AMAZING. So honestly this movie was very disappointing. Understandable because they had to compress the complex story into 90 minutes, but it just felt like a tangled thread getting thicker into the minute. Also the introduction of random new characters threw me off and that’s probably the biggest reason why Mo Jun Jie barely had screentime. I was also looking forward to the remake of the rain scene but they only showed that for 5 seconds.
This movie isn’t bad, but compared to the drama it’s really bad. But the acting was super good.

Series fans should watch for the ending

For those that enjoyed the original series, this is going to bring back memories but the movie also serves something brand new.

The Downsides:
1. The movie expects that you understand the relationship between the characters from watching the series and some of the scenes will only make sense if you have already watched the series.
2. Everything is condensed and a bit complex. The series gave you enough time to understand what was happening in a very detailed way. This is where the movie lacks. But when you do understand, it's enjoyable!
3. Mo Jun Jie doesn't have much of a role.

The Upsides:
1. Because it's explores new timelines, it won't feel like a summation of the series but builds upon the original concepts and is exciting.
2. The movie ending is what most fans needed to see with the original series. And it genuinely made me smile. It makes up for what the series lacked.

Although on it's own, it will feel incomplete and disconnected but after the series, it will be a trip down memory lane.

Some new songs were added to the original tracks but tbh, nothing beats the original.
