It could have been better... A lot better.

Here limited time isn't the problem but rather than utilizing limited time adding unnecessary events and character becomes the biggest con of the show, which truly disappointed me because it had much potential of being good but in the last, it couldn't become more than just okay okay drama for me.

The historical BL is being unique topic to handle all alone... but adding a love triangle, flashbacks, many unnecessary situations instead of focusing on development between leads surely affected the show in many ways. Another thing I would like to point out that Ki Wan being in the attire of women most of the time. The story could have been better in many ways but it failed thoroughly for me. The ending was rushed and had much room for improvement. There were many unanswered questions that left us hanging.

Though I liked the music it was okay... but other than that everything was truly a failure for me.

I'm split on this series

I will admit it- it wasn't that good. However, it wasn't that bad either. Yes, I can say that this Korean BL isn't up to par to the other Korean BL's that I have watched and I am even comparing it to some STRONGBEERY series (Long Time No See and My Pistachio) that I have watched. But! I did enjoy watching it.

Story-7.5/10
If you are looking for a realistic Joseon Dynasty historical drama, I got news for you- continue looking. This series ain't it. But if you are looking for something to pass the time away- go ahead and give this a go. Yeah, there are so many things that were brought up like how the mother and sister hasn't realize that Ryu In Soo's wife has an Adam's apple. But, you know what? I'm not going to dwell on that.

The synopsis the series sounds promising. But like most Koren BL's, time is the issue here. There is not much time to develop he proper flow of this series, so it feels like there are missing pieces to the story (that hopefully the movie version will be able to bring).

Acting/Cast-8/10
In all honesty, I liked all of the actors. Especially Jang Eui Soo. I felt like when he was in a scene, he stole the show.

Music-8/10
I liked the music.

Rewatch Valu-7/10
While I may rewatch this series, I am not that eager to watch it anytime soon. So, for that reason I give it a 7.

Overall-7.5/10
Overall it wasn't a strong series like the other Korean BL's that I have watched. But I still enjoyed myself watching it every Thursday for these past four weeks.

it's almost like a parody

one thing i was super excited about was how the concept is pretty different (historical era ish) from the other kbls we've seen.

the setting, the cast, the ost were alright. it has some hilarious moments and i particularly liked seeing the actor from where your eyes linger. i think he did his role of bringing a comical effect well. the main leads were okay but the chemistry was a bit stiff at the start. perhaps it was the weird pacing so the heavy romantic dialogues said were not that convincing.

what is kinda disappointing was how nonsensical everything was. it almost felt like a wattpad story, a parody of some sort with the pacing fluctuating from left to right, up and down; a mess. i understand timing is the issue but it would've been nice if a little more thought in the plot was given considering the fresh concept.

i can't say i didn't enjoy this because i did like bits and pieces. what i can say is this drama felt silly and it is definitely something you'd watch on a whim.

Its a short...very simple story....don't have expectations...watch and enjoy!!

A very simple story....have a message kinda in each episode.....with a little humor here and there....it shows the lengths a person has to go in those times to protect theirs family's honor and dignity....the struggles of a newly married woman....
Though the series was absolutely perfect in duration....really wished it could have been longer.....the way the actors portrayed their characters was amazing...lee se jin was like beautiful....his look as a woman were absolutely perfect.... seeing kang in soo in 'wish for you' and in this one....he was just right for this role
Would really recommend this series to any bl lover....waiting for more beautiful Korean bl ; )

Arranged marriage + secret identity with a cinnamon rolls pairing

Pitch perfect new BL in the now typical Korean style:

1. well defined character roles and social positioning
2. fast pacing because of the short run time
3. very small cast
4. extremely high production values and so PRETTY
5. light-touch meets strategic trope use
6. very soft bois and a weak seme/uke dynamic

A historical setting allowed this one to use some seriously old fashioned romance tropes, arranged marriage and evil step-sisters, but also modern BL stylings like fake relationship and secret identity plus some gentle gay panic. So flipping cute, their little smiles, just GAH. Bit of a dead fish kiss but I don’t care because I loved this tiny show full of soft sweethearts and no one saying anything directly (except our man with the poetry, I hope he finds his true love). Adorable.

It was a lot more light-hearted and gentle than any historical BL to date, which is Korea stamping the sub-genre with its mark and standing up to China’s darker BL traditions. It reminded me of 12th Night more than anything else which just happens to be my favorite Shakespeare play.

For all these reasons, I adored it.

Too Short and Too Choppy

This saddens me to even say that I didn't enjoy this series as much as I would've loved to. You had one of my all-time favorite Korean actor (Lee Se Jin) and a plot not similar to that of the usual BLs, so I was stoked, but this series lacked in many parts. Nobleman Ryu's Wedding was a heap of disconnection with the main characters and plot.

Let's Dive In.

I'm keeping this short cause there's not much to say other than this series felt choppy and full of holes. For one, the main characters didn't have much chemistry, if any at all. There was no point in the story that we see them slowly falling in love or developing feelings. It felt so out-of-place when Ryu was asking Ki Wan about what was between them. Nothing, cause nothing was set up anywhere in the plot for there to be any development, which is a huge thing missing considering this is a love story. Eui Soo's (WYEL) character felt so unnecessary. I wasn't even really able to understand why he was there. He fell in love with Wa Jin? Why? What was so special about "her" that made him fall in the matter of half a day? Very Irrelevant. By the end, there were a lot of questions that weren't answered. What did Ryu's mom do when he found out that he was with "Wa Jin"? what did she do when she found out she was a man? Did she ever find out? How about the sister? Does she know? and how does she feel?

The only thing I truly loved about this series was the fact that they were able to have a BL love story take place during traditional times and in traditional clothing. It was even nice to see how the culture was and how there way of living worked. Again, seeing Se Jin never hurts, and if anything, this series just showed that he is beautiful, male or female. The acting was decent, but there wasn't much to work with to show off anything phenomenal.

Overall, there are way better Korean BLs out there. I liked what this one was trying to do, but it didn't really pass the vibe check. One, because it was way too short. They might've well just made this a movie. Two, some of the characters weren't very mesmerizing to watch, like the sister. I would recommend this series, just because it was a cute watch and there is a kiss (a stale one but it still counts) and I don't think this would be wasting anyones time.

A parody's worth of ridiculousness

!!Disclaimer¡¡
This review is based on my personal opinion/experience while watching. You're free to agree/disagree with it.

Where do I even start here? I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of such plot was. And in all honesty, you can't do much with this type of ideas as it isn't really something realistic nor is it logical because while I did find myself enjoying some parts, I was literally just going "huh?" at almost everything else, regardless, I don't regret watching it as I really like the cast and I watched it solely for them, the plot however, is legit like something out of a wattpad or ao3 novel. It was all over the place, and sometimes the plot just seemed to vanish(?) in a sense. The whole idea of a guy going undercover as his sister so his family name won't be tarnished and her marriage ruined is just really bizarre to me, like, I have way too many questions and way too little answers, why did home girl wait till her wedding day to pack up and yeet? Why didn't she just refuse to get married? Couldn't she just ask her dad to somehow break off the engagement? Why didn't she inform the poor guy of how she felt? How come only him and his dad had seen her before this whole mumbo jumbo happened? How on earth did the dad just agree to sending his son in her place? In what world would that work?......etc.
Almost nothing made sense in here, not even the weirdly forged love triangle. It was just so in your face it was honestly hilarious. I did like the parts with the second main lead tho, his persistence made me SnORt. Also the fact that our main leads didn't show prominent feelings for each other until maybe the ends made me laugh harder than it should have. So, is it some great masterpiece? Nah, more of a messy draft of some fanfic. Is the plot that bad? In some ways it it, but it was unintentionally funny (at least to me) so can't fault them for that.

For the characters/cast I just wanna ask one thing, was there even a script here? Cuz it sure as hell didn't feel like it. It's like the director went "alright, I need you guys to pretend like you're some chaebols from ancient korea and just improvise the rest" when they started filming. I didn't understand the motives behind anything the characters did or said, it was always just confusing to me. The actors did their best to make this.....whatever this is work sooooo yeah, cast/characters : a solid 6 and that's me being kinda generous.

For the soundtrack, I honestly have no opinion on it. Nothing special about it cuz there was literally one ost throughout the whole thing so.....yeah.

In conclusion, this isn't a show to be taken seriously, more of an hour worth of unintended comedy. The show wasn't made to be funny, but the amount of flaws in it and the sheer ridiculousness of the situation the whole plot is revolving around made it feel like a circus show or some parody of some sort lol. So, do I advice against watching it or do I encourage giving it a try? I say if you have nothing better to do and you're looking for something to laugh at, give it a watch, but if you're looking for a serious series with lgbtqa+ themes I suggest you don't cuz you'll be disappointed.

I did not have any expectations but it really turned out to be a fun watch. The initial episodes were hilarious. The romance part wasnt that well established but considering the duration of the series, its okay i guess.
The story is quite simple. It does not even consider the consequences of a failed marriage or a homosexual relationship in a society like that. But they did present what they wanted to present neatly. Considering all these, i must say that the duration of this series is perfect.
The casting is nice. I havent seen much female roles done nicely by male actors before. And in that aspect the actor of choi ki wan really did a great job.
I dont think i will rewatch this. But it really was fun for a one-time watch.

Short but too slow, bit funny

The series is as it says in the description. I watched it with an open mind as I had fewer expectations from it.
It's not too good but not too bad either.
Acting by the leads is good but I think the series needed to be a bit more happening.

The pace is quite slow, I watched it at around double the normal speed. It had good scope if it could have been a bit longer.

Binge watch it and it'll be much more engaging.

The BAD:
It starts a little abruptly. I was like: is that it? They're already married, huh? That's unexpected...but not in a good way, because there was no buildup to this event. This theme of "rushed events" continues throughout the whole series. Basically it feels like the producers were so short on funds they had to cut everything short and make it super concise. That is why, a lot of situations presented in the series, and actions the characters take, seem to have little reason or explanation. I'm sure there is a backstory to them, but it was omitted in the show.

The DISPUTABLE:
At the same time, a lot of scenes are semi-silent and long, but this is arguably one of the traits of Korean moviemaking. To me, this is adorable, but I MIGHT be biased because of my heritage. Personally, I love it done this way, but when a single episode is this short I can see how people might not get it.

The GOOD:
I actually enjoyed the story a lot. I also liked all the characters, which is rare for me. The characters are very hot, but again - I might be biased. The final kiss is one of the most beautiful BL kissing scenes I have seen. If nothing else, at least watch the damn kiss.

One recommendation I would have is: binge watch the series and it will give you a much better experience (episodes are very short too).

Nothing notable happens in the series : cute but short..

I'm glad that SK is taking baby steps in producing more BL content. Even though most of the previous shows that they produced have short running time, the cinematography, acting and OSTs used on those shows were still good.

This time we have another BL show with a different setting (historical).

It's a good start for SK, a stepping stone for future historical BLs. Nobleman Ryu's wedding had the typical fast paced plot with the main characters briefly meeting and falling in love with other. There were scenes that were cute and funny, however, it somehow fails to appeal the viewers. (This is just my perspective as it depends on the viewer's taste)

It could have been better or it could have been sweet and adorable if the story focused more on them getting to know each other because the downsides of this series is that they had to add a rival and then a sibling that doesn't approve of the main couple's relationship who constantly interferes and annoys the main lead which overall made the side characters be of a nuisance than a help and the entire series to be pretty much, bland and overly dramatic for just a short series..

In addition to that, due to the short running time and fast paced story, I actually wasn't much invested on the romance between the main characters.. Moreover, I didn't see much of the chemistry between them..

In conclusion Nobleman's Ryu's wedding is something worth watching I guess if you want a series that is short and fast. You can still be entertained despite of its shortcomings but all in all, it entirely depends on your interests. Personally, I would give it a below average rating but since the production value for this series is not that big and SK is taking a few steps forward in producing BL content, I gave it a chance.. Enjoy watching.. ;)

The romantic and heartwarming story of two men who kind of like each other, mildly enjoy each other's company and wouldn't mind spending more time together possibly as long as nothing else came up.

This show has no chemistry, no sensuality, no kilig and definitely no passion. The two leads just exude a lukewarm appreciation for each other that translates to a calm friendship. I've seen bromances in Sageuks with more sizzle and they didn't expect me to believe they ran off together to - presumably - read books together while fully clothed. Which they could have done without the remote locale.

At a mere hour, the show wastes a lot of time on flashbacks to moments where nothing happened as the two men reminisce about those times they were mildly and politely amiable towards each other in private.

Considering the lack of anything remotely resembling a romantic connection between these two and the fact the bulk of the plot is about Nobleman Rue's "wife" coming to terms with her place in his household, this comes off as a story about how a man discovered he liked having a wife. Something that he could have had without running off with a man.

A good part of this problem is caused by the woeful acting, especially by Lee Se Jin. When will these shows stop casting third rate Idols to clunk around looking uncomfortable?

Overall, this show is tepid and nonsensical and while that means it's an inoffensive watch I wouldn't recommend it.
