Overrated: A waste of the acting, the music, the cinematography
I've only watched 3 episodes of this before I dropped it, so the plot might have picked up since then. Alas, as a TV series consumer I am not obliged to hang around until the series start to engage my interest.I wasn't interested in this series to start with, but ep 1 auto-played after Not Me's final episode ended on Youtube, and I was enticed by Nunew's English voiceover at the beginning, hence I started. Perhaps this is one of its strong points - the publicity. Even after I've stopped watching the series for a few weeks, Youtube would push the newest episodes to my 'playing next' list whenever I watched some other BL series.
Cutie Pie started with a promising premise, but failed to deliver. There was no logic. The fundamental plot (Kluea's grandfather being so open to betrothing Kluea to Lian) contradicts the over-arching worldview in this series that LGBTQ is still not accepted by society and they can't get legally married or be entitled to rights enshrined in law arising from a legal marriage.
The scenes (caveating that I've only watched up to ep 3) were very sweet and sent me squealing. Except that, at the end of the squealing, I'd look back at the episode and wonder what was the point of the episode? What was the plot development? And that was when I lost my interest.
There were questionable plot points too. For example, forcing Kluea to move in with him, having spycams at home to check on him (even though he averted his eyes when Kluea took off his clothes unexpectedly), and kissing Kluea in the car when he is obviously too drunk to even recognise Lian. For a series which later hyped on a s.scene big on 'consent', where was the consent in the car kiss scene? Was the incapacitated Kluea able to give conscious consent, regardless of whether he does really want to kiss Lian? There is such a thing as date-r*pe or even r*pe within marriages, if, the party doesn't consent to it at that particular point. And to leave Kluea hanging there in the days which followed without telling him about the kiss? That's so toxic.
The cinematography and colours are pretty, and the OST very well-produced. I have the MVs looping on Youtube. It's a shame that the script didn't pull its weight. A series can be light and fluffy, but still tell a good story.
I may get flamed for this, but in my opinion, the series is overrated.
----------edited post final ep ----------
I read many fans raving about the last bit where the chracters spoke openly about LGBTQ rights, so I went to watch that part specifically. Though I was impressed by what the series tries to do, I didn't get why they had to do that. A well written plot should have fully developed this key meesage throughout the series and all that's needed is one last 'tagline' to sum it up at the end. Why so preachy? A good story shows, not tell, what it stands for.

Totally hook on it
It an adaptation from novel with same name ' My Cutie Pie' from author BamBam. English ver is available in MEB. This plot of the series surround on an arranged marriage, age gap, social issue (like lgbtq, social rank n etc), living secret life, be true to yourself. Its light, rom com, & cute story ( if you just looking n focus for NC scene, then it might not for you) there are not many NC scene and it more lovely. The 'drama' not like some series like drag you to certain time/ep. Personally i really like the series, it currently just EP5 but it build my curiosity on what next ep will store for you. The acting wise its good, both main lead doing great job potraying their roles. It seems like the roles really meant for them, they act so natural . Where in other some series I can really see actors acted so stiff n seems like they acting because they just need to acting it. They look neutral, honestly said, this the only Thai BL series that I never press fast forward button at all, never skip the singing part. Best OST, 2 OSTs that has been revealed so far great, NuNew angelic voice!! Aesthetic cinematography (Mandee sure invested a lot of 💸, its look good, kind of give you Korean drama vibes). Even the etiquette wearing suit being shown in the novel. Audience might don't care abiut this, but the great length they put into details ( that most people don't care is very commanding & deserve big applause). Another great thing was the club scene, it looks so realistic, the audience jump & hype enjoying the song, like really it really concert. Sorry to say, but this kind of scene really look staged & unrealistic in other series that i watched so far, (I can't help but pressed the skip button, again this my opinion). In short I feel great that i give myself chance to try to watch this series. I anticipate the next episode, and so far it grows on me. I watch the ep again n again. Was this review helpful to you?

Cutie Pie series is very overrated. There are lots of issues with it, the most prominent is the lack of chemistry between the main couple ZeeNuNew. They're one of the worst match I've ever seen. Their huge, 10 years real life age gap isn't helping either. They can’t make me believe that their respective characters are in love with eo bc of the actors has no chemistry or bond or harmony. Watching them kissing is so painful, they're completelyout of sync, there's no chemistry here or emotions delivered or sexual tension.
Nothing happening, no butterflies no magic. Zee sweating blood to deliver the kiss scene but New is like a dead fish with open mouth. He doesn't know what to do with Zee, he can't respond the kiss, it's really a horrible experience to watch it.
New's acting skills are very poor, he can't convey any emotions, he can't control his facial expressions. His bad acting affecting Zee who was brilliant as Fighter in WHY RU but here he's struggling badly bc New isn't a partner for him.
The arranged marriage trope is toxic as hell, also the relationship between Lian and Kuea, Lian only using Kuea. The drunken kiss scene without consent is another big issue and people find it romantic which is very concerning.
Also CP is posing to representLGBTQ+ community but in reality they just make them upset, I read many comments about it.
MaxNat has more chemistry but they have the exact same huge age gap. New and Nat looks younger than their age so looks like two daddy is looking after their kids and making out with them.
If you like toxic and boring BL tropes than watch it but don’t expect any butterflies or magic nor great acting. The cinematography is nice and the locations but I can’t say any more positive things.

Infantilization and controlling partners killed it
After 3 episodes, I can safely say I don't want to finish it.Kuea and Khondiao are like children. They are treated like literal babies by their love interests. "Where are you? Why didn't you tell me everything you're doing today? You're not at home where you should be even though no one is there to hang out with you. Why aren't you answering my calls? When I call you're supposed to answer. You're being naughty." It's an awfully toxic relationship model that doesn't seem to be going away anytime in the course of this show.
On top of that, Lian and Yi don't show any love for their boys except when the boys can't see it, and even then it's the bare minimum. Khondiao even says that Lian and Yi don't show any affection for them and wonders if it's because they don't love them. The answer is yes. If someone is giving you no emotional support or signs of affection, they don't love you and you need to yeet yourself out of that relationship. But somehow both our boys are just maddeningly in love with their men. Diao is afraid of Yi to the point that he sobs like a child when Yi finds out he lied about supporting his friend at the bar, because apparently Diao isn't allowed to go out without clearing it with Yi, who he's Not Even Dating?!
The reason for this supposed arranged marriage is shaky at best and completely missing at worst. Flashbacks suggest Lian either does like Kuea or he's just super bound by duty - it's unclear. In ep 1, Lian straight up tells Kuea that he doesn't love him but then acts like he's hung up on Kuea and in love with him the whole next episode all because Kuea said he wanted to break up. Except, of course, he doesn't tell Kuea he likes him. He just calls him naughty and childish and makes comments that sound like he's going to control him. Also he has someone stalking Kuea so he can keep tabs on him all the time. It's messed up and does not say "love" to me at all.
I couldn't take the controlling nature of the relationships and how dependent and desperate the "submissives" were, so I can't continue the series.

Top Bl’s out
Not sure why there are so many bad reviews about how the show was “ boring” a show can’t be super interesting every minute on the episode and honestly I think the story was great personally I think it was very different I haven’t seen many bls that don’t involve a women being in the middle of the main characters and this is finally a Bl with two men actually talking about marriage and laws stopping them from doing so I think they talked about so many important things involving the lgbt+ community that a lot of bls don’t yes the story will have boring parts and boring side story’s at times but I think the main couple and side couples had amazing chemistry and actually communicated and fixed their problems that’s why it seems boring it’s not common to see toxic issues being solved the right way in bls and apart from all that I think the acting was better then I expected from seeing the actors from previous dramas I think they all stepped up in this one and nunew being in his first drama I think he did amazing and expressed all his characters emotions perfectly and his singing was done so professionally I think his effort and the rest of actors and staffs efforts are kind of being underrated and I think this drama was a big step up from dramas we’ve seen in the past not to mention the love scenes they were some of the best most intimate beautiful moments I’ve ever seen and the fact that consent was such a big part of it made it sm better nothing was forced I think the series was greatWas this review helpful to you?

Cutiepie not perfect but real
Call it what you want ( not a flavorful pie, hot mess!, waste of time, cutiepie? More sleeping paralysis demon) guys i totally disagree with this review. Well, of course i would defend with my name zeenunew cutiepie dmd i live up to my name. This series is worry a chance to watch. This typical mindset of sinkship of ZS fans. I don't think you watch the series bro, either drop it bcoz its not S with Z.
This series doesn't support pedophilia ( it means who has a sustained sexual orientation toward children, generally aged 13 or younger) i dont think you watch the series bcos its arrange marriage between Lian and Kuea at early stage of their life young born and 7 years. When did a 7 years old become one a pedophilia when its an arrange marriage before you said something make sure you know the mean of the word. I never saw a single scene showing this bad views about Cutiepie.
Plus when Kuea leave with Lian his 20 years old and 7 years age gap is not big gap. Age doesn't matter in love. Ages 15 years old and above are allowed to make a sexual consent in Thailand. Yes, i knoe bcoz i read google information before i posted anything. To make it hard to believe guys LianKuea are engage since his birth Lian got all the it takes to bring home Kuea to his home. Lian he asked permission to Kuea's mom.
That's a sign of respect to Kuea's parents.
Kiss in the bar will are you even in legal age to watch this kind of series, ( boys love). I actual wondering have experience kissing someone in the bar when your out with friend. I did. It's normal part of teenage life. And if your adult i guess nothing bet the ONE night stand i guess well i know not all would agree but guys, are YOU born in the 1500 century. LOLS 🙃🙃🙃🙃

Best TV show I've ever watched
I can't rate this high enough, and I was shocked when I saw so many low reviews. Though I respect everyone's right to an opinion and know not everyone will love this show, I just completely disagree with the comments I have read. It's the best TV show I've ever watched, ever. The two main couples (Kuea and Lian, and Diao and Yi) were so adorable, with incredible character arcs. The acting was phenomenal, the music was phenomenal, everything was perfect. I have never liked any other BL show and was starting to think this just wasn't my genre, as the acting has always seemed bad/fake. This show was the complete opposite - it felt genuine and natural and wonderful. It's the first BL show I've managed to watch all the way through. The intimate scenes were well done and not unhealthy in representation, and the show addressed real life issues like living in a country that doesn't support gay marriage. There was a good emphasis on communication, honesty, and consent all being three key parts of a healthy relationship. The third pair was okay - Syn and Nuer didn't really have the same impact for me as there was very little conflict/character progression - it was just your standard slow burn romance.
I've never seen character arcs as delightful and satisfying as that of the four main characters. It was also nice to see a show that can create conflict without subjects like cheating, love triangles, physical violence, or trauma. This show is 95% fluff and cuteness. I wish I could forget this show so I could rewatch it fresh again. In 31 years of living on this earth I have never loved a show this much and I will revisit it many, many more times. Also if you need literally any reason to love this show just look at Diao and his cute kitty cat mouth! 10/10.

Kuea and Diao's situation with Lian and Yi
i am loving this so much i already re-watch it like 10 times... But i really wanted to talk about a comment i saw about how Lian and Yi is behaveing Kuea and Diao like their not grow up men and "not letting them do what they want" im not saying their opinion is wrong i just wanted to talk about it cause it's been on my mind since i saw it... But lets move on to what i am seeing with Kuea's situation i feel like the reason Lian is "teasing" him is because that he knows what Kuea is doing behind his back but Lian just wants Kuea to be himself which is also the reason why i think he calls him Annabelle (i haven't watched Annabelle so i dont know whats it's about) is because he is living a double life. the person was as said talking about them not letting Kuea and Diao living their life but i think Lian wants to know the real Kuea and not the "Little Nu-Kuea" which is why he is trying to get Kuea to open up to him +it's not Lian that is making Kuea be "Little Nu-Kuea" Kuea is the one that is acting like "Little Nu-Kuea" because he thinks thats what Lian wants. And moving to Yi and Diao's situation even tho we dont know the whole back story behind them we still have some information to look at like Yi being behind Diao having some memory lost which is making Yi feel guilty and sorry for Diao and is making him feel like he needs to take care of Diao and we all know that Diao and Kuea is besties and Lian and Yi being bestfriends so with all Kuea's secrets that he wants to keep from Lian. Diao needs to keep secrets from Yi too cause if he told Yi what they are doing (like going to the club and Kuea being Kirin and things like that) in the end all the secrets that Diao tells to Yi about Kuea will end up with Lian. it is also very important to remember that Yi hates liars so infact Yi is actually letting Diao doing what he wants he just dont want Diao to keep any secrets from him and he also feels the need to know what Diao is doing (where i think his guilt with Diao's memory lost is the reason) so i dont think that they are "not letting them live their life" they are just not that open with their feelings to get Kuea and Diao understand the reasons why they are acting as they are which is making both Kuea and Diao keep secrets from Lian and Yi and in reality neither Lian or Yi wants them to have any secrets they just want to get to know the real Kuea and Diao (sorry for this being this long and lagging in grammar but i tried have good day/night!! <3)Was this review helpful to you?

toxic
Ok, it's true the actors are good. But. The problem is the storyline itself. I'm not sure if it should reflect the "classical" submissive women x dominant man behaviour on two pairs of men, but it might be so. The thing is, both Lian's and Yi's behaviour is highly manipulative and controling. Kuea and Lian are hiding many things from each other, so are Yi and Diao. I actually understand that Kuea and Diao are holding secrets, because if the didn't, they wouldn't be able to do anything. I admit I didn't see more than 4 episodes, I couldn't watch it. But in these 4 episodes, Lian is somehow "mysterious" and I really couldn't read his feelings towards Kuea, which might make him seem more manipulative in my eyes. I wouldn't hesitate to say, this is domestic abuse reciepe. Yi has, at least, clear reason for his behavior. Although him making Diao cry nearly every time, made me very uncomfortable. But I think, Yi has some kind of PTSD and with good therapy, this relationship could be ok.I felt very angry just watching this and it's actually the first series I haven't watched till the end. No matter what, I always watch everything till the end, but in case of Cutie Pie, I just couldn't. Very toxic. So toxic, it made me write my first review.

A weird sugar baby hostage situation turned romance with lots of rich people problems
Oof. This was a struggle for me to get through. The plot is non existent. Basically if any of the characters would have just communicated like normal people, even a little bit, every issue could have been solved in a single episode, maybe two. But the "plot" relies on the characters to adamantly refuse to talk to each other, and instead to lie and dodge questions. Any other "problems" are literally just rich people problems which are hard to sympathize with. Oh no, I can't ride my Ducati bike because my arranged marriage partner (that won't even be legal? why did the elders even arrange this?) doesn't want me to.
The relationship dynamics here for two of the main CPs are...kind of gross. Both of the main couples (Kuea/Lian and Yi/Khondiao) have the same weird dynamic of two rich dudes pursuing two younger submissive men who are somewhat trapped (both reasons are stupid) into these relationships.
Kuea and Khondiao are comically naive at times, and other times seem to get out of their weirdly submissive Hia-pleasing but quickly go back. Both are constantly infantilized by their Hias by being called "naughty" copious times, being controlled and not trusted to do literally anything on their own. Even to chop up eggs?!
Somewhat of a saving grace is the chemistry, mainly between Zee and Nunew, but it wasn't enough for me. Kissing scenes are sometimes so gratuitously long that I got bored, which I didn't think I'd ever say with a BL. After the first 3-4 make out scenes, there was no range to them, it was the same scene over and over.
Consent was muddy sometimes - Kuea said no or stop to Lian multiple times and was ignored. Though it seemed playful it still gave me the ick. There were multiple scenes where Lian was pushing him to have sex and he did not seem willing at first. No thanks.
Syn and Nuer were the only relief from the toxic relationship drama - the soccer scene finally got a laugh out of me. This couple should have got infinitely more screen time to lighten things up. I got to the point in the last few eps where I was skipping by ten seconds because I was so bored of the characters lying or avoiding each other just to pad out the episodes.
I don't think it was any of the actor's fault that this show was such a disappointment, they did what they could with some extremely shallow and problematic characters.

LOVED IT!!
this was my first BL series i've ever watched, so i dont have much to go off of. im an enjoyer of cliche storylines like the childhood friends to lovers/ ceo & shy boyfriend trope etcs so this was right down my alley, which some people seemed to have not enjoyed. the fact that this was nunew's first acting project was so surprising to me given that his acting was amazing. zee also was able to convey so many emotions so naturally, their chemistry was insane. the soundtrack was also so enjoyable. sure this may not be some deep, dramatic series but i dont think it was necessarily meant to be 100% serious as there was a large humor aspect to it. overall 10/10 . rewatching as i'm typing this review!!Was this review helpful to you?
Almost everything was great for me, problems mostly with the main premise. But fave
You’d enjoy watching if you don’t think too hard about the overarching plot. The chemistry among the cast (both romantic and non-romantic pairings/groupings) and the OST are some of my favorite aspects of the series. Not only does Nunew have such a great singing voice, the songs used in the series were all really good, and that was important for me, given its role in Kirin’s character. I usually skip the performance scenes in BL’s because I find them quite awkward sometimes, but for this series, I loved all the performances. My favorite part of the series though is the cinematography, the blocking and the direction. I could really see the amount of care behind each scene, especially the emotional ones (both NC and non-NC but the NC scenes are really really well-directed too and a standout). I feel like most of the scenes included have a purpose too, which I can’t say the same for some other BL’s. Special shoutout to Zee’s performance too, there’s just something about the way his eyes express emotions that really sold it for me.
Admittedly, the overall premise and longstanding miscommunication between the main couple was frustrating and the weakest aspect of the series, i found it quite a waste because I just think everything else is close to perfect. I find that Cutie pie has sort of the opposite problem with some other BL’s i like. Other BL’s have great initial premises and overarching storylines but the attention to detail, the blocking, cinematography and chemistry of the cast is just
lacking and detracts from the greatness of the premise. Cutie pie, meanwhile, does great with the other aspects but the storyline and overarching plot is just a bit confusing or could do some tweaking. I understand part of the reasoning is to continue on with the hide and seek fun between the characters. There’s also the struggle between Lian wanting Kuea to explore a world without him or the arranged marriage and Lian wanting to pay back Kuea’s family. Like it’s all interesting but just needed a bit of tweaking to not make their actions so contradicting or unnecessarily convoluted..
With all that being said haha I still loved the series and could overlook the weakness of the overarching plot because of the care placed within the details behind each scene. I still love rewatching the series from time to time.
