Cliffhangers galore

Probably the one thing that I hated and loved from the first season the episode cliffhangers, especially now as I wait for the finale. Really love this series it gets its hooks in you and won't leave, you'll dream about this show and the things that aren't quite explored. Love all the cast, they are all wonderful the collection of characters, yay and hugs to those writers they need accolades galore. This will move you and have you on the edge, definitely binge worthy series every episode you won't want to sleep because each mini cliffhanger will drive you insane. I really hope there's a third season I think there's plenty of material to expand upon. Praise to the actors and the crew, well done another brilliant season.

Nostalgic and warm, yet slightly disappointing.

Not to say this season was bad. There were quite a few elements I enjoyed a lot. It was simply not as good as season 1. Why? Because there was little to no development nor arc for the 4 out of the 6 main characters - they already went through it in the previous season.

First of all, in terms of the plot, the mystery seems impersonal since for the longest time we don’t really know why it’s even connected to the leads. It’s just something they come across by an “accident”. In season one Pan Seok was the connection between the male lead and the ghost. Here… it just happens because the plot needs it and there are no personal stakes and the few connections we have are not enough.

Characters wise, I liked the two new leads. Eun Sil was a great addition, but I feel like there was not enough focus on her - how she manages the village, how she interacts with others. Il Young is probably my favorite character. Obviously he had some issues and a dark past, but also seemed like a good person. That contrast made me curious about him. They did well in establishing the mystery parts like how he was able to leave the village, how he knew Thomas, what was his connection to the crimes happening in the outside world.

I feel like we only got glimpses of the village here and there and it was never truly the center of the show. The aspects I actually liked the best in season 1 were the storylines about the ghosts, not the investigation happening in real life. I wanted to see more of the ghosts perspective - depth of regret only someone who has no chance to fix their mistakes can have. Not to mention the whole idea of kids, their understanding of death and where they currently are, how the learn to be happy for the ones that leave the village - aspects that were not really explored enough.

As for the rest of the main characters - nothing changed, nothing improved, nothing got worse nor better. They were all rather stagnant. Kim Wook got glorious hair and they tried to give Jang Pan Seok some interesting arc of not being able to let go of the past and traces of his daughter… but I felt like they dropped the topic at some point without conclusion.

The whole real life investigation was just mediocre at best. Random generic bad guys with no depth, little to no established motivation and awful fashion sense. The only good thing about the investigation was the fact we’ve got to see Shin Joon Ho a little bit more.

Production value was great - great sceneries, great set design, good special effects, nice visuals as all tvN shows have.

Acting was great - with this cast I expected nothing less. They did an amazing job with the casting, especially taking into consideration how many kids were part of it. Sometimes finding even one child that can deliver a believable character is hard, here they were able to find quite a few.

Overall, it’s exactly what one would expect from a second season - enjoyable, even if it did not get anywhere near the quality season 1 had.

Blown Away!

Some shows you wonder if you should continue wasting your time watching them, hoping they'll get better. Some shows you are anxious to finish all your chores so you can watch them. I kept vacillating back and forth between wanting to forego my life just so I could watch one more episode, but then being sad in advance, knowing this wonderful ride was coming to an end. I was so thoroughly invested in this show, now that I've finished it, I have to say I'm really sad it's over.

STORY: A new village and a new set of people for our leads to get to know and come to care about. I'll admit, the long hair on Wook in the first few episodes really drove me crazy. But then I realized it really suited his kind of quirky personality. There were some new twists in this season, which brings me to the reasons that I gave this a 9 rather than a 10 - and here are the spoilers:
- Really, the whole thing is a suspension of disbelief, which is what I loved about it, but the reason (or lack thereof) for the captain not being able to leave her village didn't make any sense.
- Too many loose ends at the end. Which is fine, if there ends up being a season 3 (though PLEASE don't make us wait two years!)
- Mentions of other villages. Great concept but again, I didn't like that it was just setting up for another season. Because if it doesn't happen, then we're all just disappointed.
- Main bad guy - he was able to get away?! Please, don't have him in the next season. I don't ever like to feel like the bad guys are untouchable and that nothing can stop them. Plus, one of the things that I appreciated about this show was that the police knew what they were doing - I'd like to feel that they'd plan for any eventuality.
- You had BETTER NOT kill off Detective Shin. A mine field, really!?!
But other than that, I thought that this season was just as good as the first. I'll say again, what I said in my review for season 1, I love found family. Again, it was in the village, with the team, with the detectives, and I loved the addition of Bo Ra, and when Wook was explaining to her what it means to be a family, that summed it up perfectly.
The Oh Il Yong storyline - it was brilliant. I didn't get a good vibe from him in the beginning, which is what was supposed to happen, but his storyline was powerful and surprising. And I loved the relationship between him and Wook.
I loved that Jong A played a more integral role, as well as the fact that she stepped up to make herself more indispensable and figured out how to find more missing children. Gotta be honest, the potential for her to see ghosts is exciting, but there is something to be said for having someone on the team that is a little bit out of the loop. You lose some of the elements of surprise if everyone knows what's going on.
This season, the detectives were starting to figure out that there was something different about this team. I like that Detective Shin knows, but the others don't, but they know that there is absolutely something strange going on. That, to me, was amusing.

ACTING/CAST: Stellar. I was glad to see Thomas, even though it was too brief. I continued to be impressed with everyone in the cast, but this time around I have to give a shout out to Lee Jung Eun as the Captain. She's one of those actresses that I love her in everything she is in. That sweet/beautiful face and smile, her short, round body (I mean that in the best possible way - don't you think that she would give the best hugs?), I'd love her to be my grandma, but then I remember I'm old and she'd have to be my sister, but still. I liked the clothes that the costume designer put her in, Peter Pan collars, knit comfy sweaters, long loose skirts and sensible shoes. She just seemed so approachable. And to have her be the first person you see when you enter the village and have her say that she's made food, come in and she'll explain what's going on - she was the heart of the village. Jung Eun's acting is normally understated, but there were times in this show that her pain, anger and loneliness were almost palpable.

And that was the conundrum for these villagers, especially those that had been there for a long time. You want the children to be able to move on, but it's heartbreaking when they do.

MUSIC: I especially loved the theme song, I found myself humming it - I loved hearing it at the beginning of each episode, but at the end I didn't like it so much because that meant the episode was over.

REWATCH: For me, this isn't the type of show I would rewatch again, because I know what is going to happen.

However, if someone asks me for suggestions for well-written shows, with good character development, excellent chemistry between all actors and that have sucked me completely in, to the detriment of my "real" life, I'd definitely suggest Missing: The Other Side, Both Seasons one and two. You could probably watch only season two and figure out what is going on, but season one really does a good job of laying the groundwork for season two. Really, to be honest, I'm afraid that this show has set a bar so high for me that I'm doomed to be disappointed in other shows, especially since, as a romance lover, there has been so little good to choose from.

such poingnant stories, kept me coming back for more.

I just watched the last episode, and already miss it. I hope this series will be picked up for another season. Kim Dong Hwi really caught my attention, he fit the roll perfectly, all of them did really . Love the idea for a Private Detective agency, a bit of the twist with the help of the other side, the last scene was like a cliff hanger. We will be watching it again, there is always a scene that makes everything make sense =P

Well done cast and crew =o)

Hope everyone enjoyed as much as we did <3

Missing village - level two

Missing: The Other Side Season 2 is like level 2 of season 1. S2 will be unlocking new mysteries and secrets into missing villages. Like S1, S2 will not disappoint you and will be as much a masterpiece as the 1st. There will be new characters that will do justice to this masterpiece but the main leads remain the same from S1.

In this season, you will see, Kim Wook, Jang ajushi, Lee Jong Ah and Shin Joon Ho, team up to search for missing children mostly with the help of Oh Il Yong, who seems to be able to walk out of the village despite the fact that he is dead. The story is heartwarming and exciting in every way.

You will need to watch S1 to understand S2, both are masterpieces and will keep you on the edge to the very end.

About JjongA that looks like getting the ability to see 'the dead' like wook and pan sook ajusshi. The evil Mr. Noh and The new village that looks like amusement park lead by Im siwan and many more.
Hope the next season will get out soon!

A very touching, supernatural crime drama.

Seriously amazing! I didn't want it to end, infact I wish it continue to the merry go round part! lol!
Prefer Wook with short hair though. He look more handsome and serious in that kind of haircut. There's certain episode where I feel he was slight slow in gasping the situation as well as delayed reaction. Perhaps that how the character are supposed to be.
This drama is not only super touching, it also show how fragile human lives is as well as how cruel humans can be. This drama also show unexpected crime ways people willing to commit and how little other humans view lives.
Very meaningful drama which I hope it will continue to Season 3.
Seriously, can't wait for S3. Hurry up already~!

the story of missing (you dont need to share blood to become a family)

Missing: The Other Side is one of my favorite series. Like Season 1, we are watching missing people's stories in this season too.

In the first season, the story was focused on the people live in the village and how our team starts to work together. As you may remember, in the last episode of season 1 Wook and ahjusshi stopped seeing the Duan Village. Season 2 starts with 2 years after. In the past 2 years they didnt see ghosts or any other village but one guy changed everything.

In Season 2, we see another village, Industrial Complex 3, which residents are lots of kids and adults. The story is focused on the new village and investigations outside of the village. But I should say even though the investigations took a lot of part in the show, you still relate with the villagers and their stories. Also new characters were introduced. Il Young, Captain Kang, Crybaby detective, Bora....

One of the things I liked in this season is Jong A and her style to work. Her ideas about campaign and cafe was really great. Also the ost Stay With Me by Baek A made me cry everytime.

Story end with a hint of Season 3. Let's hope for it!

"This person's life also has sufferings and sadness. in fact, it's even more far behind than yours."

Watched the Season 1 of the series years ago, and watching the Season 2 of the series really not failed me because it became better, much heartwrenching, and warmer. No episodes ended without me bawling my eyes out, and having dfficulty in breathing because of too much emotions in every episode. One of the shocking story in this season is Captain Kang's story, really a pain to the core at the same time I feel bad for Captain Kan's goodness. One of the emotional scenes for me is RoHa's story and Sangchul. Gosh, the scene with the Family Day - track and field race will forever engrave in my heart.
This series is a really good break for the reality world that I am in right now. Really a warm series that I could not wait for Season 3.

Most awaited Season 2

I love that they created a new season that has a completely different plot line so even if you haven't watched the first season, you'll still be able to watch it. Some premises changed and the series is still connected on the first season somehow. The stories are just as rich and heartfelt as the first season but is not as structured as before. I love that the main casts remained the same although the villagers were completely replaced.

The chemistry is still there and I love the new addition to the family which is Bora. Watch out what her role is to the family. Overall, I highly recommend this drama if you're a fan of crime, mystery, and fantasy drama.

EXCELLENT SERIES! DONT MISS THIS SHOW

This started slow for me but right after episode 3, I cant stop watching and binged all the way to season 2. I personally think season 1 is better but dont get me wrong, they both kept me glued on the screen and anticipating.
It is an excellent drama tbat is welk directed. The story smokthly flowed and every character played a vital role, connected to the story.
I would have missed this show if not for Netflix. I am not sure it is available in other pkatform but if you have the chance, don't skip watchibg this show and stick past the first two episodes.
The way season 2 ended, I am strongly hoping they will have a season 3.
