A Masterpiece of Raw Emotions, Brutal Reality, and Unmatched Brotherhood – 10/10

Weak Hero Class 1 is a phenomenal, fast-paced thriller that grips you by the throat from the very first episode and refuses to let go. It is brutal, realistic, and incredibly emotional.Story (10/10):The plot is an absolute roller-coaster. It’s not just a story about school violence; it’s a deep, dark exploration of human relationships, loneliness, and the desperation to protect the people you care about. The execution is flawless, keeping you on the edge of your seat with intense, gritty action scenes. But the true heart of the story lies in its beautiful, yet heartbreaking focus on loyalty and brotherhood.Acting & Cast (10/10):Park Ji Hoon and Choi Hyun Wook delivered career-defining performances. The contrast between Shi Eun’s quiet, calculative nature and Su Ho’s bright, protective energy created an unforgettable dynamic. Their chemistry is the absolute soul of the drama. You can feel the genuine warmth, trust, and growing bond between them in every single scene, which makes their journey together so impactful and emotionally devastating.Music & Production (10/10):The cinematography is raw and atmospheric, perfectly matching the dark and tense mood of the series. The fight choreographies are unique and visceral—you can feel the weight of every strike. The soundtrack is hauntingly beautiful, elevating the emotional stakes to a whole new level.Overall:If you love intense thrillers driven by exceptional mastermind characters and a legendary bromance that will make you cry your eyes out, this is a mandatory watch. A flawless 10/10 masterpiece with endless rewatch value!

Loss of innocence

This show's thematic focus seems to be about the tragedies of school bullying. Of course that is a theme. However, that theme is situated within something deeper: the loss of (youthful) innocence. Yeon Shi Eun's greatest battle is not against bullies or preserving friendship, but against the corruption of adulthood. Part of adulthood, psychologically, is the recognition that the world is broken and appears to be that way perpetually. That there seems to be such strong spiritual interest in the afterlife, usually an image of something ideal and blissful, reflects on our pain of living in a broken world. Consider a young person voting for the first time feeling like their vote and voice matters in the big picture. Or someone who attends a political rally. Of course these actions matter, but the adult mind recognizes we're throwing cotton candy at brick walls. We're disturbed by how the brick walls of social behavior developed, self-proliferate, and that we have little power to change things at a broad, macro level. We labor to contribute to society through family, work, community, and in those spaces, we experience nepotism, bias, ignorance. It takes so much energy to retain our values, our innocence, our vision of a better world. Right now, Shi Eun is fighting so hard for his innocence. His refusal to retaliate or attack Oh Beom Seok symbolizes this inner fight.

The three male leads were terrific. But I was also impressed with Young Yi and Jeon Seok Dae in their support roles. They were morally complex and I would love to see greater development for these characters. The thugs/villains were unremarkable, bearing no complexity, and were your average dumb thug unable to learn and grow. I'm not a fan of the portrayal of adults (teachers, police, family) being completely inept in handling school bullying issues. In terms of social commentary, it feels like slap in the face to the difficult work these roles play in our society. Many teachers, police, and parents already feel undervalued by society. Can the story show us some glimpse into the critical value these people provide?

The show has succeeded - perhaps too well - in explaining what the societal problems are. It is desperately clear what's wrong. However, the narrative has done little to shed light on what the solutions are. I'm interested in that discourse. What can students, adults, and society do to improve upon these issues? So far, what I'm getting is pick up a pen, a fire extinguisher, and strike back. I hope the future material can facilitate discourse for solutions.

The opening sound track, "Weak Hero", by Meego, is haunting. Thinking about it gives me goosebumps. Listening changes my affect immediately. It's the perfect musical embodiment of innocence lost. It reminds me of how powerful music is as a companion to script and image.

Overall, this is a high quality show and I'm hoping that it widens its lens a bit and doesn't belabor the point of bullying. Or simply provide graphic violent fight scenes to satiate our bloodlust. I hope the story takes us to a wiser and more peaceful place.

Park jihoon's acting was amazing and so natural.

Overall, this show was best as the acting and the story lineup matched very well. I am looking forward to the second season of it. Also the fighting scenes and anger sciences of park jihoon are shown very well. I am also looking forward to other dramas of park jihoon . Like what if there would be the second season of love revolution and at a distance spring is green.

PARK JIHOON IS THE BEST ACTOR.

A MUST-WATCH FOR KDRAMA FANS

Short season that you can binge in one evening. And you wont regret it.
The story is nothing too complex, yet it keeps you glued to the screen and makes you want more.
I recommend everyone to watch this, its great action, the different friendships are at the core though.
With only 8 episodes to watch, you cannot go wrong here.

Fucking awesome!

I honestly feel sorry for myself for waiting so long to start watching this show like, I don’t even know what I was doing! First things first, you need to stop sleeping on my baby Park Ji Hoon. He is a top-notch actor, truly top notch. He’s absolutely fantastic in every role he takes on.
This series is honestly a 10 out of 10 .If you haven’t watched it yet, please tune in! I just finished season one, and I’m still a little confused about Oh Beon. I don’t really understand, was he jealous that Yeong I was attracted to Yeon Is Sun? Or was he mad that Su Ho bonded with her enough to let her stay over? Or was he attracted to either of them himself? Like, what was the issue?! To me, he comes across as a complete lunatic and a selfish individual. The soundtrack of the show it's really lovely too.
Again, the actors are all really fantastic, and I cannot wait to dive into season 2!

WE NEED s2 NOW!!!

🔸A bloody poem of unspoken problems, unborn friendships, and untold concerns. Weak Hero is not any kind of a manifest against violence, unlike Boyhood. It's a clear statement of what everyone could have had and what has lost to domestic and school violence. Friendship, trust, love, happiness, - all of them were wiped out with blood and boiling rage. It's been 1.5 years since the release of this drama, and I attest that the story gets better on the rewatch when you can closely examine the exquisite psychology behind it.

🔸The show proves that warlike personal relationships never bring any profit to anybody. Oh Beom Seok, aka the most hated villain, was adopted for his congressman dad's political influence. In psychology, bad relationship with parents can predict lower friendship quality, and it's exactly what happens in the drama with Beom Seok. His dad doesn't recognize him as an individual and physically abuses him on a daily basis, which results in Beom Seok struggling with social life. He is anxious even around his new friends and expects betrayal from them.

Beom Seok is so traumatized and broken that he can't navigate a regular relationship anymore. His new friends technically do nothing wrong, but they are no psychiatrists and they don't know how to treat Beom Seok in his condition. While therapy isn't going his way, and he reserves to violence as the only way to relieve his mental pressure. Hong Gyeong's performance as Beom Seok gave me chills. It is absolutely stellar.

🔸"Keep on pushin" says the slogan on Ahn Soo Ho's jacket, but, honestly, does he have a choice not to? He is all alone, without parents, working part time and sleeping at school. This life made him independent, taught not to expect anything in return and not to risk recklessly. But despite that, Soo Ho is loyal in good relationships. He trusts his friends enough to keep his phone unlocked. He is a little bit insensitive, but able to admit his fault and give someone a second chance. Exactly this attitude makes Ahn Soo Ho the best character in the show - and the one who's hurt the most.

🔸"You did nothing wrong", says Yeon Shi Eun's dad after his son causes major injuries to the three bullies who hurt his friend. Shi Eun is reluctant to form any relationship since his parents take little interest in his life, but he is considerate and caring in a friendship that accidentally came his way. He found his escape in keeping his brain busy by solving math problems, but math books will protect his friends only if used as weapons. As his rage grows he seeks justice in violence, too.

🔺Be careful when watching Weak Hero. You may find yourself falling for that violence when you start wishing some of the characters to be hit - this is exactly what the drama warns you about. After all the terrible things Beom Seok has done, you may start feeling satisfaction from seeing him being physically abused by his father, forgetting that abuse shaped him that way in the first place. There are many viewers who are angry for justifying Beom Seok's behavior, but there is no justification there, just as there is no justification for Shi Eun's aggression. It's just the way the society works. We cannot stop bullying and abuse if it's a regular part of our life.

That said, can you name Shi Eun the hero of this story? Or antihero? Or maybe this title belongs to Ahn Soo Ho? Or is it all a big irony? The drama wants you to decide yourself, and it doesn't offer a solution to the world peace. This brutality and honesty, in my opinion, along with the brilliant production is the root of its success worldwide.

This one broke me in ways I wasn’t expecting…

What hit me the hardest wasn’t just the violence, but the emotional conflict between Suho and Beomseok.

Beomseok’s need to belong, his inferiority complex, and the way he clings to Suho as a source of safety felt deeply human. He didn’t just want friends, he wanted a place where he mattered.

Suho never meant to hurt Beomseok, and that’s the tragedy. Suho pushes people forward because that’s how he survives the world himself, but what he sees as guidance, Beomseok experiences as erasure. To Beomseok, authority has always meant being erased. Care and control collided, and neither of them realized it in time.

I’m genuinely frustrated that the series shows so little of Suho’s personal life. His emotional background is almost entirely absent, and that gap matters. Understanding why Suho is the way he is could have added even more weight to their conflict. Instead, that silence becomes part of the story itself.

Overall, the drama is cold, tense, and raw. The cinematography intensifies the characters’ emotions, and the pacing keeps the tension suffocating from start to finish. The acting is outstanding!!! Every glance, every silence feels heavy with meaning.

And that fucking ending… I’m speechless..

Punisher at its peek

I watched over this series as it came to Netflix. I regret it. No show should put us through this amount of emotions, but it's the reason why this is a top tier series.

Such a simple story that went to such lengths to show the bond between friends and the power it gives us when something happens to the people we care about. Some psycho is well deserved, especially for what they did to that boy.

The acting was next level though, especially by the male lead, that final rampage was a masterclass of acting. Even his hair understood the assignment. He literally had me holding my breath everytime he picked up a pen.

A definite 10/10

The plot is pure fanservice as it shows Si-eun do what every nerd wishes they could do. The plot twists go crazy--- I was expecting the first arc to be the entirety of the show, so the second half genuinely threw me for a loop and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. The fighting choreography was excellent in that it was both thrilling to watch and gave us insight into the characterization of the various fighters, as each person had a distinct style which matched perfectly with their personality. Even the characters that I hate were compelling and the acting was phenomenal.
