Wasted potential

I was absolutely whipped for this drama when it first started. The chemistry between the FL and ML was terrific. I used to look forward to new episodes. However, I wasn't a fan when the ML and FL started dating and their personalities changed a lot. ML, who was known for his cold gaze and strict behavior suddenly acted like a schoolboy. I would've been happier if their dating was written differently...more subtle changes rather than throwing it all the at viewer's face.

Another thing I don't understand is the recent trend of inserting murder mystery and/or crime into a storyline. It felt out of place and absolutely unnecessary, especially for episodes 11 and 12. The story would've be so good if it was 'just' an office romance with a sparkle of supernatural. The last two episodes made me feel like I was watching a completely different drama.

I still liked the drama as a whole but the more episodes I watched, the more my interest decreased. The writing had a lot of potential in the early stages but somewhere around episode 7, it started to go downhill. Overall, I hate to say it's an okay drama. The ending felt rushed and could've been executed better.

Execution is all that matters.

Produced by 'Arc Media' and distributed by 'Disney+', "Kiss Sixth Sense (키스 식스 센스) is a semi-fantasy plus office romcom drama adapted from the hit Naver webtoon of the same title authored by Gatnyeo (갓녀). Written by Jeon Yu Ri and directed by Nam Ki Hoon, the drama has 12 episodes in total.

The story follows two people who have special abilities of sense, which rooted from a single event, falling in love during the course of time as they work together in the Planning Team 1 of Zeus ad company. Hong Ye Seul (Seo Ji Hye) is an aspiring employee who has made it upto to remarkable positions through her noteworthy work. She has the ability to see the future when her lips touch anyone. Cha Min Hu (Yoon Kye Sang) is chief of the team and Ye Seul’s mentor who is strict and is known for picking on others. He can hear even the quitest voice from distance and has issues with getting intimate with anyone. As their lips meet once accidentally, the story takes to the journey they share to be united and bring happiness in their lives.

Lee Pil Yo (Kim Ji Suk) is an acclaimed Ye Seul’s ex-boyfriend who comes back with the intension of getting back with her. Lee Joo Yeon is a famous actress and Min Hu’s childhood friend who crushes upon him. Other familiar faces in the drama in major roles are: Tae In Ho, Kim Ga Eun, Hwang Bo Ra, Late Kim Mi Soo, Kim Ki Doo, Yoo Jung Ho, Kim Jae Hwa, Kim Hee Jung, Uhm Hyo Sub, Lee Han Hwi. Park Seung Geun and Jo Hee Bong. Also, there are many known popular actors as guest characters in the drama as well.

Plot development is very good. Ngl, the pilot episode and the furtherance in the next were extremely bland, a bit hard to get into, with confusing introductions and unrelatable flashbacks to past. But somehow things started to make sense as soon as the ep3 started with major confrontation events plus the way the advertising tasks kept playing out in a goal-assigning manner. With the beginning of chemistry development followed by romance (not gonna say when), the show became even more interesting and in all that, was paralleled a tiny mystery plot involving the main characters which shares the minimum screentime with not-so-very-deep essence and very well utilized as a subplot. The unveiling of mystery as well as the romance recital were handled smoothly though the former could have better fates but anyways, the final outcomes were beautifully presented. I loved the ending sequence as well and yes, the pacing was near perfect for a 12eps show.

With the experience of only one basic romcom 4 years ago with average reception, Jeon Yu Ri jakka-nim probably made a good choice by opting to adapt the novel as a way of learning. The genre is old, the story is basic and the concept isn’t noteworthy, but the elements are gratifying, the development is refreshing and the execution is amazing, which I must say was unexpected on personal level. The character arcs have been beautifully built up and I loved how the writer has emphasized on untypical possibilities to the ending of relationships (as in by the drama ends).

Having worked in multiple genre dramas on equal levels, Nam Ki Hoon PDnim is a familiar face in the industry known for his good sense of bringing out the best from the most basic scripts. The drama surely doesn’t require very good skills but the fact that the production value of it has resulted in good quality indicates the work of the director.

The scenario set up, being held equally in and out –side of the office was nice. Also, the screen-editing is up to par with sumptuous sound production; not just the OSTs have been well-incorporated but the accessory background scores are well-composed, particularly the continuous whistle tune was alleviating. The cinematography work is not proficient, ngl, but the plain and calm hue of office and the contrasting nature with vivid colours were all pleasant to witness.

There are 8 OSTs in total…
"You're Like Americano” by Yuju
"Even If You Can't Have It” by Zia
"Kiss Sixth Sense" by Lee Jun Hwa
"Fantasy" by Suran
"You Make Me” by Woong San
"Stay With Me" by Grizzly
"Give You Everything" by Na Yoon Kwon
"Here We Are" by Jay Yeon (SWAY)

What I liked…
# Monologues by Ye Seul were both inspiring and thought-provoking; the conflicts she had with her own heart was poured into beautiful and warm words and you can take few notes about dating relationships as well.
# The sensibility to the characters through mistakes and learnings were nice to watch as the characters chose to make themselves freer of whatever was holding them back. The original webtoon writer and the drama screenwriter should be credited for painting and panning out them respectively.
# Seo Ji Hye’s acting was natural in here, the character’s soft yet confident gesture makes her likable. Similarly for Yoon Kye Sang, his firm accent and proficient dialogue delivery clearly speaks of his experience.
# The love story is mature and there is apt amount of romance between the leads as well as the screen-time provided to the 2nd couple. In fact the way the characters handled their relationship and the mandatory accompanying elements were realistic. They have put particular emphasis on transparency.
# Hwang Bo Ra who played Yeonhee (Seul’s bestie in the office) is very suiting for funny comic roles and I am happy to see her again in another office romance drama and also with short hair (again).
# The mystery plot has been given the appropriate exposure and the way it panned out in the series with a a standard ending, I’m quite satisfied. Well, they make it obvious about the culprit with good intentions but the utilization did result well.
# Limited amount of fantasy did eventuated well imo though the basis of the show was fantasy only. I love the fact that they didn’t rely on it much.
# Probably the thing I loved the most was how the makers saw it fit to explain that every relationship, despite of their kind and span of existence, deserve a sorted fate and sufficient time for the good of both the parties. I’m happy they gave this a good amount of exposure.

What I didn’t like…
# I am not really disappointed with the mystery plot ending on a rushed note or felt lacking as it becomes a connecting point for the leads but I somehow feel they could have bring out better results.
# One thing that I would have loved to see was more to the characters of the office staffs. I, in no way, mean that anything was off but it could have been better. But again, the show has only 12 episodes and they have done their best. Admittedly, they successfully showcased the works in an advertising company in detail with apt workplace environment.

Additionally, the factors that I believe the writer was able to portray through the actions of the characters were really something other creators amiss. While confessions and confrontations are important in a relationship, its only demanding to be able to acknowledge your deeds and learn from mistakes. As individuals, thinking and self-reflection could make us better human beings and Ye Seul was a stupendous flag-bearer of that throughout. Mis-predicting future or things going differently from expectations which was made to
Fiinal Remarks… Well, the drama is pretty basic and you won’t be surprised with quite a lot of things but the story is surprisingly well made and awfully sweet and refreshing, at least for viewers like me who crave for cute and straightforward romance once in a while. For me, it was a short and appealing and delightful watch for it an endearing loveline and winsome relationship, decorated with a standard fantasy and good mystery. Will definitely recommend.

A BITTERSWEET EXPERIENCE!!!!!

Grumpy first male lead with hardworking fierce first female lead with some kind of childhood bestfriends to enemies to lovers.
The kiss sixth sense is a romantic comedy drama about a woman who can see The future when she kisses someone, it is basically adapted from webtoon of the same name. The male lead is hyper sensitive ie. he can hear from miles. see for miles. Basically his sense are really developed after he suffered an accident in his childhood.
The love relationship between the leads takes awhile to develop , and there is some misunderstanding and lack of communication (typical). However there are some nice skinship and PDA scenes.
Because it’s an office romance, you have the humor and storyline of the colleagues and after work dinners etc.. There’s also the ex-boyfriend factor - his tale was a sad and unfortunate one, but he was matured enough to handle it, i liked him a lot and the story between him and the MFL was amazing but the ending and problem they had were unnecessary[they did him bad].
Somehow the character of the ML changes when he starts dating her- he becomes more comical and cracking jokes, which I thought was out of character.
Cliché storyline. the story went pretty predictable. The whole black outfitted, cap and mask-wearing random/bad people is so out of fashion. I mean doesn't the whole black outfit negates the "hiding in plain sight" concept? I would totally notice a human in a full black outfit.
Started great, ended flat! this drama started off with a bang. I was hooked initially and the casting of the main leads were perfect considering their mature age and the office romance. The chemistry was sizzling and I loved the storyline. But as the episodes progressed, it felt like the same story in the beginning was being addressed over and over again.
I'll admit that the final 15 minutes of the last ep [ep 12]made me cringe.
We should've gotten cute moments between them but they keep on breaking up instead. Why? Because of their powers disappearing? That's why they went crazy??? That was unnecessary. The ending last 15 mins really left a bad taste in my mouth.

Recommended if you're looking for something light, sweet and fun with a little bit of mystery.
I really don't understand the need to inserting murder mystery and/or crime into a storyline. It felt out of place and absolutely unnecessary, especially for episodes 11 and 12. The ending felt rushed and could've been executed better.

OVERALL A GOOD DRAMA TO WATCH!!!!

unexpectedly fun and charming

Watched the first episode and stopped in the middle since i felt bored but then gave it another try and finding out that the story is engaging after the second episode! The premise is interesting and the plot building is good enough for me to keep watching. The chemistry between Seo Ji Hye and Yoon Kye Sang is sizzling. They managed to wrap conflicts in a fast paced story with only 12 episodes. The only downside is I skipped Howoo and Dr. Oh scenes because I just don't vibe with it whike the rest are enjoyable and acceptable. It's been a while since I saw grumpy first male lead with hardworking fierce first female lead with some kind of childhood bestfriends to enemies to lovers. Definitely recommended if you're looking for something light, sweet and fun with a little bit of mystery.

No(n)sense...

Ok, before I start this review I have to say that yes, I did read the webtoon and yes, I was disappointed to find that they decided to go in an entirely new direction with the drama by only keeping one or two concepts from the webtoon itself. In saying that, I tried my utmost best to look at this drama separately.

Out of all the aspects, casting and story progression is where my main focus for this review will be because they stood out to me the most:

Firstly, they decided to go for an older cast, which didn’t bother me at all, however, I do really wish that they would have given (all) the couples a few more mature themes in a sense of dealing with dating in your late 30s which is vastly different than dating in your 20s. (For those in the comments saying this drama had a mature dynamic, I’m still looking for it because, besides their age, there was none? Also, this is not me saying that people are not allowed to be cute after a certain age, I’m talking about making the characters relevant and possible for the audience to connect to them).

Secondly, hats off to Seo Ji Hye, who I absolutely loved watching. She had such a calming and regal sense to her acting that made it super hard to ignore and not fall for. I have thoroughly enjoyed her in everything I’ve watched of her so far and although her character was written to be very different from our lead in the webtoon, I think she did a great job with what she was given.

However, I really struggled to see the chemistry between Seo Ji Hye and Yoon Kye Sang and before you come for me in the comments, no, I’m not talking about his looks, I’m talking about the way the character was written and delivered. Something did not click well between them and I actually struggled to see anything between them being remotely believable, despite the steamy scenes we were given on replay in every episode. In fact, for the entire first episode, I didn’t realise he was the ML. The character in my opinion wasn’t a good fit for him. He did not seem comfortable in this role and quite frankly from what I’ve heard from moots who have seen him elsewhere, this wasn’t his best work. In saying that, I don’t think he had much to work with in terms of the way the character itself was written.

I do really wish that they would have taken more time with regards to the storyline and developing the characters, especially after having such a popular webtoon to back them. The last two episodes rounded things off in a very strange manner and completely changed the characteristics of the main leads. For such a short drama (only 12 episodes), there were some really unnecessary half-done fillers and loose ends that were added to progress the plot at the last minute, which the drama really didn’t need and could have done much more seamlessly with a well thought out plotline that ran completely separate from the webtoon itself. I'm not even going to get into that ending which was a train wreck in itself.

Overall, this drama was nothing particularly amazing and had made more noise with regards to people’s dissatisfaction over casting than the actual drama itself.

If you’re looking for an easy misfit watch, I say give it a try, but you have been warned about the lack of chemistry and lacklustre ending…

Too ambitious

I understand this is based on a webtoon series that underwent major changes for this drama. First off, that ending was a whole load of cr*p. In fact, the essence of the fantastical love story was lost by episode 6 and all that was left were three story arcs that never managed to converge into any meaningful finale. My god, wtf happened to the writer? For a series to open so solidly and with such sizzling chemistry between the two main leads only to have it cave in on itself is astonishing. Why would the ML suddenly do a 180 just because he got laid and why was the FL written as a shrew? I lowkey hated both of them by the end of the series. If you want a nice romcom with great chemistry between the leads then please watch 'Well Intended Love' or 'You Are My Glory'.

Beautiful drama, but badly produced!

Let me start reviewing this drama by saying how this drama could have been much more popular and highly rated if the authors and producers had done a better job. That's it.

The story is rather the same drama fantasy cliche, extraordinary gifts, a murder plot, and a steamy office romance, mixed with childhood lovers. It had so much potential, the story is actually entertaining and the leads have a marvelous chemistry, so what went wrong?

The drama's story was all over the place. There is no development. There is no background history and suddenly the leads start liking each other. There is no connection between the characters in the drama and simply they exist because they had to. This lack of coherence is what made the drama poorly executed and less intriguing to the audience.

The leads have one of the most beautiful chemistries and there are many Romantic/steamy scenes but without any development. They could've used the fantasy element as the focus of the show and let the leads roll around by it. The second leads and other supporting cast simply show up and are done!

It doesn't seem like a low-budget drama but again, weak execution makes everything bland.

Overall, if you love romance and can simply watch a drama for its romance, then you will enjoy this drama! just don't get too deep into the story and let it roll :)

Mixing genres = Identity crisis

Completed - 8/3/2022

I did not watch the webtoon, so I am unsure how true this drama is to its original content. However, reading the genres and tags, "Kiss Sixth Sense" is not what I was expecting. I thought this is a true romantic comedy with mature adults, maybe a little more mature version of "A Business Proposal" with a fantasy twist. What I ended up watching is comedy + romance + fantasy + suspense + crime. This results in the drama having an identity crisis and not doing any of the genre well.

This is really disappointing as I was looking forward to something light and fun, but with adults who look their age in the business world. The comedy in the initial episodes were a little over-the-top for my taste, but that's OK as I thought this is a comedy. The fantasy element is interesting and I am always a fan of fantasy romance drama. However, when they added the very-Korean childhood connection and trauma, and the half-baked suspense into a 12-episode drama, everything feels underdeveloped, rushed and disjointed.

I actually quite like the romantic chemistry between the leads. I am all for bickering couples who are secretly in love with each other. However, I still don't see when Fl starts to fall in love with ML, as she only wants to find out what the future holds. That's been such a big build up for many episodes about this future event FL sees with ML, but because those future scenes occur so often throughout 2/3 of the drama, it was quite anti-climatic when that significant event really happens. There's nothing the audience doesn't already know.

Acting is decent, though some scenes are quite cringey when the leads finally get together. ML seems to have changed to another person once he's in love. Where's that cool, calm and collected leader? Now we have a lovesick puppy vying for kisses whenever he can. There are scenes when he's kissed or kisses FL and he doesn't seem to be in pain. Whereas, other scenes he is pain even when FL is right beside him. Is that a plot hole that I detected? Or I am not understanding his condition?

The secondary romance between the cousin and the doctor is underwhelming. You can skip the whole thing and not miss a beat. Yes, the last 15 minutes are weird and unnecessarily long. I think I know where the scriptwriters are coming from, showing us a different kind of relationship. But, maybe they can reduce those scenes to 5 minutes instead.

Overall, it's an easy binge and if you have nothing to watch, this hodgepodge drama is OK. At least there are plenty of kisses (but not as many steamy kisses as I anticipated given the premise of the significant event).

Great acting!

Oh, this one was good!
Finally a kdrama, with mature leads, that do not break up because the road gets a bit rocky, that can actually talk and listen to each other and actors that have a hell of a lot on screen chemistry!
Was it a masterpiece? No. Are there better dramas out there? Yes.
But compared to some of those "this script worked for the last 500 dramas so let´s just do the same again" productions, that have popped up in the last years, this is a breath of fresh air!
The acting was top notch, the on screen chemistry bubbling and the script was decent and made sense. 9/10.

Boring!!!!!!

The kiss sixth sense is a romantic comedy drama about a woman who can see The future when she kisses someone, it is basically adapted from webtoon of the same name and I'll tell i haven't read the webtoon but i can assure myself that the webtoon would be much better than this.
When the casting was announced i was happy but after 3-4 episodes i was disappointed even the good leads can't able to save the show for me there was not development at all and i guess it was titled as mature drama but where is the maturity when the leads cant even have a proper conversation.
It was just so boring for me the kisses were good but didn't make my heart flutter.
Music was not so rememberable.
Those who are watching this for Romance should skip this one watch some other good romantic dramas.

It was better than i was led to believe it was

I started this drama with a lot of apprehension, mainly because of the review I saw, but I still decided to give it a try. The thing is, its a good drama, it started really well for the first half and the rest was just too messy. The FL and ML had great chemistry and that what made me watch it till the end. They were forming a great couple and all until their image as a couple was ruined (in my opinion) in the last episode.
I'd say that the drama was pretty glod but the last episode ruined everything, from the original characters' temper to the plot. The dynamic they had in thelastepisode was so childish and revealed too many underlying issues. And like the FL said she definitely need therapy, they both do. And the excuse that its because they are too in love is ridiculous.
That kind of excuses was a main problem for me in this drama, they normalizedtoo much toxic behaviour with the main couple. The ML was "picking on her because he had a crush on her". The FL was confused and hesitant on their relationship and made poor decisions that led to dangerous situation.
The over presencep of the two 2nd leads was a bit too much. They stuck around messing with the main couple and looking pathetic for nearly 11hoirs long. However want to advocate for director Lee because he didn't deserve this.

But even ifi have many problems with this drama I would recommend it to someone. It was pretty fun, the last episode wasn't well written, it felt like someone who didn't know the characters wrote it but other than that,go watch it. Even with all the rant I did still didn't feel like I wasted my time because some scenes made me feel butterflies and others made me feel sad.

Started great, ended flat!

I really loved how this drama started off with a bang. I was hooked initially and the casting of the main leads were perfect considering their mature age and the office romance. The chemistry was sizzling and I loved the storyline. But as the episodes progressed, it felt like the same story in the beginning was being addressed over and over again.

The ex boyfriend arc was good in the beginning but overtime he became the annoying second lead used for filler time and the FL was all over the place. I couldn't understand if she really liked the ML or was just in it for the sake of the future she saw. The ML was the only saving grace of this drama and totally swoon worthy marshmallow over time.

I would have given this drama higher rating if not for the final episode which was just so annoying, that I kept wondering if I was watching the same couple who I saw in the last 11 episodes.

All in all, this drama is a good one time watch if you are looking for something light fluffy office romance. Have great chemistry between the leads and a decent storyline if you disregard the last 2 episodes.
