A Fun Action-Noir Film
Watched it in expectations of a really dark and gory film…While I got a comedy film instead ? not complaining tho bcs I really love it!!
I always prefer a simple and fun action movies rather than the dark and serious ones. The Childre brands the film “action noir”, but in fact it is not really that much “noir” for me, more like “action noir-comedy”. If you love a fun movie without any stressful thoughts this one will be best for you. But if you prefer darker movies and difficult plot, you might be bored with this movie in their first half hours.
Kim Seonho really delivered the character of Childe/Nobleman well! His action scenes are so cool and scary but at the same time her micro expression while saying and doing random funny things also worth to wait. I would love to see more of Nobleman, he is so fun to watch (eventho he’s evil lol)
Really recommended!

Very addicting suspense and powerful surprise
The cinematography is extremely brilliant in this one, the suspense and thrill is heavily packed right from the start, pacing is just perfect as it keeps getting more and more addicting while the truth uncovers one over another. The storyline is really well arranged even though it's quite a simple one, but the surprise factor is very strong towards the end, while glossing it with some comedy to keep it stylish. Although this is the first feature film that Kim Seonho acted as the main lead, his performance is so breathtaking, he's charismatic in action and his humor simply steals the show. Everyone else's characters were also thoughtfully designed, the fight is so intense for some very ironic reasons, while the characters strike out with the best they've got.Was this review helpful to you?
The drama itself is exciting, but not for 'kitten lovers' - it has 18+ rating and lots of blood and brains on the walls. And an absolutely gorgeous main character, portrayed by Kim Seon Ho.
Kim Seon Ho was the main reason I watched it, if not for him, I'd never dared. I was mainly focused on him, because there was a dramatic change in the character - from smartie Han Ji Pyung in Start-up and adorable Hong Doo Shik in Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha there was a 180-degree turn to the role of almost invulnerable, a slightly crazy terminator nicknamed Nobleman. The hero's wide, mad smile is mesmerizing, his movements are fast and precise, he sneaks imperceptibly, like a shadow - it is impossible to break away from the screen. At the same time, the character is written out with a fair amount of irony - you can see it from the general attitude and attention to the things like his expensive suit ... and, well, he is going to die soon, which adds to Nobleman a kind of romantic flair. But if you watch till the very end... boom!
Kim Seon Ho's Nobleman is an ideal hunter, and like a magician he can do almost anything. More precisely - literally everything within the drama plot. And this role is an excellent proof of Kim Seon Ho's victory over rumors, gossip, scandals and accusations. This is a real triumph. Moreover, for myself, I consider the character as a message to the spiteful critics: if you show off, Kim Seon Ho will come to you as an Nobleman and do about the same to you as he did in the first 5 minutes of the film with a gang of thugs.
With such a protagonist, the rest, frankly, look a bit pale. Only the director Han , portrayed by handsome Kim Kang Woo, is trying to keep up - but more likely for lovers of cruel crazy guys. Another main character Marko (Kang Tae Joo) - plays the role of an almost wordless fowl, simultaneously chased by Nobleman, director Han and the 'Wonder Woman' Yun Ju (Go Ah Ra). But why they are chasing him - you'll find out if you watch the movie.
In general, chases and fights are the strongest part of the movie. Breathtaking dynamic shots, excellent angles, well-directed battle scenes - the cameraman and stunt coordinators did a great job. So, if you miss the good old action film with noir elements, hurry up and watch The Childe, especially if you are fond of Kim Seon Ho.

Everyone is crazy
A little slow and confusing at the beginning (around 30 min) but after that it's a fast paced ride till the end.I would lie if I said I liked this movie for the plot, it's interesting, it's fun but it's predictable. The heart thing, the son thing, I saw them coming early on. The real plot twist would be that the Nobleman is the real son but from what we saw, he is not (it was not shown or said).
Marco is your basic main character, he has no clue what's happening and he is just trying to survive. He has a sad backstory, he is strong, etc. Mostly, he is there to be chased and to move the plot forward.
The evil brother is crazy and evil. I first thought he wanted to kill the father (he probably would if he could) but he needed him for inheritance. He didn't really have much character depth except greed and craziness.
The Nobleman and my favorite character. He is doing things because he can. He is an expert (his words). He is a character with the most depth which is weird since he is the craziest of them all. Also, I like his smile even though it looks creepy as hell.
The action is top tier. Especially the scene at the end, the grand finale was extremely grand which is cool.
For such a dark and bloody movie, the ending was funny.
I hope they make a second movie but with the same vibe as the first one.
I would recommend this movie, it's pure action which is hard to find these days, nothing complicated, just fun.

gory, funny with a questionable plot
I just had to write a review because the ending left me absolutely baffled. I’m still confused on who Kim Seon Ho is supposed to be. In his introduction, he said something like “I’m older than I look.” I can’t tell whether that means he’s not human or he just has amazing genetics. His character 100% carried the plot. Now, I may be a little biased to his charm, but his acting was perfect. His character is so charming and funny.*major spoilers of plot*
I still don’t understand why the Childe went thru all that work to find a replacement and fake his records just because he’s dying. Like, if he wanted to do some good that was definitely not the way to go. It’s also never explained exactly who he is?? Like, where did he learn all that fighting from. We did learn he is half Filipino, which means he’s human ig. That whole parkour action sequence was so funny by the way.
Okay so, this wasn’t a horror movie, so idk why they made the dude kinda stupid. I literally don’t know his name but it’s the main dude who was taken away to Korea. This man literally goes to the road when he’s being chased by a car(?) like, sonny, you’re not outrunning a car. If he had any chance at escaping, it would’ve been running off in the forest. But you have to give it to him, he actually did run, while most characters seem to like basically handing themselves over. Also, why does he never take the gun. He had a couple chances but he just ran off without it.
Go Ara. haven’t seen her in a while but I loved her part in this movie. I don’t quite get why she died because it showed she was in cahoots with the Childe’s plan? I Guess she just got more money from the daughter and switched sides.
Overall, I think it was great casting with great characters, but the plot was a little sketchy. Definitely worth a watch for Kim Seon Ho’s psycho character and acting.

Low effort action flick but still acceptable
A standard action Korean flick, if it weren't for the scarce elevated violence it wouldn't have been as watchable. The writer seems to be slipping a bit too much for what would have been obvious. The main character is a boxer and that's how we were introduced to him but being a boxer didn't play any role into the narrative. There were many other examples of that. More often than not, whenever a character is trying to act "cool" it came across as cheesy since there is a clear lack in world building and character development. Was this review helpful to you?
Childe of Darkness.
A fast-paced movie with a hitman named "Childe", the character who gives color to this film. The story centers around an in-demand young man, Marco, who is taken to South Korea to meet his father, but everything is not as simple as it seems. It's an action movie that would be quite literally boring without Childe, he took care of the entire entertainment portion of the movie and it was quite fascinating to follow him, he's just a hilarious nutcase to follow. I liked discovering the actor behind it, Kim Seon Ho, and I will keep an eye on him in the future.

Kim Seon Ho's outstanding performance
The Childe is a riveting Korean movie that drew me in primarily because of Kim Seon Ho's outstanding performance. He effortlessly portrays a character that is both chilling and humorous, showcasing his versatile acting skills. The storyline is captivating, keeping the audience on the edge of their seats with a perfect blend of suspense and thrill. As the narrative unfolds, be prepared for an unexpected twist that adds an extra layer of intrigue to the plot. One memorable aspect of the film is the quote, "I am pro," which resonates throughout the story, leaving a lasting impression. The OST complements the movie beautifully, enhancing the overall viewing experience. Make sure not to miss the surprise hidden after the credits – it adds an extra dimension to the already engaging narrative. It is a must-watch for those who appreciate a well-crafted story, impeccable acting, and a soundtrack that perfectly complements the film's atmosphere. Kim Seon Ho's performance alone makes it worth the watch, leaving audiences eagerly anticipating what comes next in this enthralling cinematic experience.

Movie that makes you feel like you’re constantly on edge
Alright to be fair I kind of didn’t know what the hell was going on throughout the movie but that was just because I watched it on an app that translated it really badly- so most of the time I just had to guess what they were trying to say LMAOBut , I do have to say this movie kept me on my toes. I wanted to start this mainly because of Kim Seonho because I Looooove his acting, and he definitely showed how much of a versatile actor he is, because after seeing him in such a serious/badass light- I want to see him in a romantic one too!!
Anyway to go back to the movie, I really liked the concept and the theme of it, although I think the pacing was a little messy because half of the time I got confused about what the hell was happening, unless that was the point of the movie…then they did a great job.
Towards the end though, I wish they gave a little bit more of a solid reason why Seonhos character decided to help Marco instead of the whole ‘they’re both from the same organisation’, like why the sudden change of heart? He was going to earn money either way. But I guess that doesn’t really matter, the story wasn’t about him I guess.
And I also wished they maybe explained why the fake dad was so insistent on Marco to stay, they had me seriously convinced that they were father and son— unless that old man just wanted him to stay to get his surgery lol…
Anyway the thought of being in that situation is honestly terrifying but the plotwist was crazy, but nonetheless a very sweet ending.
I also can’t help but wonder if maybe Marco and Seonhos character could be related? But maybe those were just my hopes speaking. They look nothing alike to be related LOL but still, they have the potential I guess.
Overall the movie was pretty entertaining , a bit confusing but good. Kim Seonho doesn’t disappoint! Very good action movie!!

Korean action movie? Say less.
The trailers I saw made it look like a dark action movie. There is some noir to it but it's mostly action with sprinkles of comedy. The story starts out a little slow but it snowballs and next thing you know you're 40 minutes in and can't take your eyes off of the TV.
The ML was cast, written and acted perfectly. The little bit of comedy written in it was just enough to give you a break from the action and while you're laughing you are able to digest what just happened.
I went in thinking it was going to be a movie just to kill time but found myself interested and curious. I highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys action movies.

Unhinged and exciting performance of Kim Seon Ho, you might never see him the same way ^O^
This very gore action movie took me by surprise. I found it pretty good on some aspects: pacing, some great actions sequences with some shocking moments with disturbingly big amounts of blood. Where it missed slightly the mark for me was in terms of characters likeability. Everyone is kind of detestable so I was not very invested in the survival of anyone. The man hunt was still pretty entertaining but would have been better if I care about the protagonist being chased.I watched this film for Kim Seon Ho and was not expecting to see him in such a different role. He did not disappoint and provide a very good performance playing an unhinged and quite crazy hitman. On the other hand, I found Kang Tae Joo lacking in terms of charisma next to him. Hiq role was central to the plot but with very few dialogs, so I am not sure if it is the script or the actor who is the most at fault here. The other side characters were good overall, fitting well with the craziness and over-the-top actions sequences.
If the soundtrack did not stand out to me, I was impressed by the production value and I found the parodic undertone enjoyable. The fight scenes were good, the gory details were really bringing the film together, making the picture daunting but still beautiful in a way. The chasing scenes with cars or just characters running were well put together and successfully stressful.
I would recommend this to people that are looking for a thrilling action movie and do not mind gore. If too much blood is not your thing or if character likeability or relatability is important to you, do not watch this movie. I had personally a good time watching it and I am wondering if a second watch would help me appreciate some of the characters and plot elements better (such as the ending which left me an uncanny feeling regarding the movie's morale and meaning).
