Started off great but...

This started off great but ended very stupidly.

Story:
A woman trained as a doctor. Gave it up mid-way to raise her kids and become a housewife. Gets sick during her middle age. Once recovered, decides to resume her medical training and pursue her own dreams.

The FL was disrespected greatly and very much used by her husband and mother-in-law.
Her two children take her for granted at the start of the show.
There's a lot of pushback to her resuming her medical training. Her husband works as department chief and her son is also a first-year resident and none of them are happy to have her join their hospital. The daughter, a high school senior, is used to having all of mommy's attention and devotion and is unhappy at the prospect of having to heat her own dinner while mommy does something for herself for a change.

Despite the challenges in having been gone from the medical field for so long, having just recovered from a liver transplant, and having to deal with her family's disapproval, our FL sets forth to become a fully licensed doctor.

She has struggles, but she overcomes them. That's the medical side of things.

Then there's the family side.

We discover that the ML, the husband, is having an affair with a woman who used to be his girlfriend in medical school.
(Back then they'd broken up because the ML and FL had had a one-night-stand which resulted in the FL getting pregnant with their son so they had to marry. )
This "other woman" is also a doctor at the same hospital.
And the cherry on top? The ML and other woman have a daughter who's the same age as the daughter of the ML and FL (conceived when the ML and other woman meet during a medical conference in the USA several years after the ML and FL had gotten married).

To round off our cast we have a dashing, handsome, and rich professor doctor who performed the FL's liver surgery. He takes a liking to her, and helps her out in small ways while she's his patient. And when she returns to the hospital as a resident he does his best to be kind and encouraging- the only person around the FL who gives her that. It's obvious to see that he "likes her" likes her, but he's always respectful since he knows she's married.

The series focuses on:
1) The FL's growth as a doctor: slow but steady, with its share of challenges and setbacks, which she overcomes.
2) The FL's son and daughter growing up a bit, eventually coming to see their mom in a new light, and ending up being very supportive and loving.
3) The FL, the MIL, the son and the daughter finding out about the affair.

Spoiler & Ending: The kids take mom's side. The couple gets divorced. The FL ends up opening her own medical clinic and being a happy single doctor. The ML ends up pining after the FL, having broken up with the other woman.

While this may seem like a "happy ending", I'm angry that the romance we were teased with (between the FL and the dashing professor) never materialized. Why put it in there at all? If the goal was to showcase a strong woman living alone, fine. Focus on that without introducing the romantic aspect of the second ML. It's rude to the viewers. And also, not in keeping with the FL's character. She definitely responded to the SML on multiple occasions. She liked him and connected with him. I can accept her wanting to become settled as a doctor first, before pursuing a relationship. To come into her own and recover from her divorce. But to turn him down, and say she wants to be alone forever? Zero sense. She's a warm person. A good mom. She likes people. And her friends would have pushed her to meet someone new. She'd been living in a sexless marriage for 10-15 years, with no emotional support either. The entire situation, and its resolution, was so completely stupid and implausible. They ruined the ending for me.

Not worth a re-watch (except for some funny scenes in ep 1-2 that always make me laugh-basically the only comedy in the show).

PS: The daughter of the other woman and the ML also got a raw ending. She deserved better. And the other woman? A total idiot. Her character makes no sense to me. She basically gave up her family and their financial support just for the sake of having this baby and being a single mom. But instead of moving on and creating a stable home for her child, her obsession with a med school boyfriend (who cheated on her!!!!!) caused her daughter decades of pain and potentially cost her a stepdad and solid family life had her mom made better choices. Dumb and stupid of the other woman. I expected more from her. And the daughter deserved better.

My husband is dead - I think we all wished he was

I didn’t expect to enjoy this show as much as I did. I do like how Cha Jung Sook made a complete turn in her life after her near death experience. It’s like she knew her life was far from great before, but she worked so hard to convince herself otherwise.

I love how supportive Seo Jeong Min is of his mom. He might not be able to always show it, but he is proud of her and is willing to help her as much as he can. Seo Yi Rang is a bit too selfish for my liking, at least in the beginning. I can understand this is a big change for her, but she is almost an adult and should be able to take care of herself, at least to a certain extent. I know Cha Jung Sook made her kids, her husband, and her mother-in-law so dependent on her by always doing everything for them, so I cannot blame her daughter fully. But she showed a lot of growth towards the end of the series.

The mother-in-law is awful, but I think Seo In-Ho is even worse. Not only did he cheat on his girlfriend with his now wife when they were younger, but he’s been having an affair with that same ex for probably close to two decades. He is incredibly selfish, the only thing he seems to care about is himself and his image.

I am not usually one to feel sorry for the mistress, and I can admit that Choi Sung Hee is not innocent in this situation and can be quite evil, but she is also hurting. Seo In Ho treats both his wife and his mistress horribly. I really wish they would both just up and leave him, take the kids and enjoy their lives away from him.

Choi Eun Seo is someone we want to hate, but in the end, no matter what she did, she is just a victim of the situation as well. Seo In-Ho only seems to have kind of an okay relationship with his son, but between his daughters, Choi Eun Seo is the one that got the short end of the stick. He treats her even worse that Seo Yi Rang. But she doesn’t cut him any slack either, so maybe its his guilt talking.

Doctor Roy is an absolute joy. I love how he gave Cha Jung Sook hope, he gave her a dream to follow. He was the first person to truly believe in her. He is also very supportive of her. I like their friendship dynamic a lot. I don’t think romance is needed, even if it looks like that’s the path the show my take.

I like how they are combining the more serious sides of the series with the more dramatic and even comedic ones. It is not overdone, which is what I feared.

The ending was perfect. It was just what was needed to conclude the series. I think that all three adults that are part of the love triangle did an incredibly mature thing by admitting they were all wrong at some point (the two ladies more than Seo In Ho) and they did what was best for their children in the end. I couldn’t ask for more.

The worst and insulting show, especially for women

I want to tell one thing to you before you read my review, this show has highest viewership in korea. Imagine how many woman there watched this and this being a family show how many teens and children watched this and thought yeah this is how a women who went through abuse should deal with the situation. For conservative countries like SK where abuse isn't talk openly much, especially to young people, the media plays a huge role in filling those gaps. Just remember this when you read my review.

I wish I could give a zero star if possible.
The story starts with a FL who is mother of two children, lives as caring housewife after giving up her career to become doctor due to conservative life style of her in law family. Everyday she caters to their excessive demands and lives like an obedient wife. One day her liver fails, and her husband is the only donor to save her. Despite being married for more than 20 yrs, like a selfish person he denies his liver and even her mother in law insists to not take his son's liver. On verge of death, she is only saved by a liver luckily due to some donor availability.

You think after this, at least now the FL will leave the husband, but no she continues to serve him, but also decides to become doctor again. From here on, she finds out he doesn't support her restarting her career, he always gaslights her into feeling guilty, never helps her, verbally abuses her, treats her like garbage, she is still recovering from major surgery yet he expects her to do house duties like before. and worst he is cheating on her and has a secret daughter. the mistress and her daughter bother the FL's children, yet the husband does nothing.

FL one minute acts like a power femina who won't forgive her husband and next moment she keeps saying it is my fault. And this continues till the end. In the end her donated liver fails again, they give medical reasons but let's face it, the mental and physical health her husband made her go through has undoubtedly is a major contribution.

The husband almost made her die, cheated on her, treated her like garbage, never respected her, used her all her life. The only thing FL did was get a divorce finally and at last everyone is forgiven and are happy with one another. The FL at the end is now embarked on a solo journey with a bad liver, even though it is treated again let's not deny that two operations is not really a good sign.

The writer herself is a female, how can a woman write such a story where it says till the end even though you were abused, just forgive everything, especially your husband, and speak to him like a friend no matter what. Does this writer even respect females. This is such an insulting story for woman who go through abuse.

if you are reading my review and haven't watched this show, just don't, save yourself and do not support this kind of show which puts down women like this.

What just happened to such a good drama

At the beginning this was an amazing drama. Very thoughtfully written. This drama seemed to be breaking stereotypes and showing us the journey of a woman who was finding herself after years of very subtle abuse (read subtle here). But then this drama became a total mess.
The writers focused on giving us cliches after cliches. The character growth and arcs did not happen. The same story kept being repeated over and over again. The same scenario (the lady needing transplant) repeated again. People’s emotions and feelings (when they got hurt) were trivialised and passed off as comedy. The cheator and the people who did wrong things (well nothing happened to them).
I am just angry with myself for even watching this drama.
PS : the acting of all of the cast is wonderful. Absolutely wonderful

I thought this drama might be the “Anupama” of Korean dramas but alas we got something really really banal.

Started out good and then became boring.

Cha Jung sook, a mother, housewife, good DIL. Who had a lungs transplant realised how her family was so selfish. Her husband doesn't even bother doing a organ donation for her. Her MIL treats her like a maid. Finally the near death situation opens her eyes and she decides complete her residency that she had dropped years ago, during her first childbirth. She clears her residency exam and joins her husband's hospital to practice. There she find out her hunsbands infidelity, gains everyones love, respect, support and saves many lives.
But at the end she turns out to be just a stupid prrson, who neglects her health and her liver fails again. Imagine being urself into medical profession. You just survived death because, some somewhere died and donated organ to you and you have no respect for them, as you are busy dwelling in your sorry state. Such disrespect and waste of people's effort.
I've no sympathy for this lady. One who doesn't respect themselves, no one else respects them too.

Death by a thousand cuts . . with a dull scalpel

Makjang and melodramas are a staple of k-dramas. Most of the time they are well sign-posted. Once in awhile you'll stumble across a show that looks harmless on the surface but a makjang in disguise. May I present to you, Dr Cha.

At its core, this show is about the struggles of a middle-aged woman stuck in a loveless marriage, her identity and the fallout of an affair. Our FL has an epiphany after recovering from a very serious illness and wants to break free from a closeted existence. Everything is on track for several episodes. The antagonists might be circling but the expectation is that our FL will overcome.

Not so fast, my eager friends. She was soon relegated to the peripheral while the antagonist takes centre stage. I'm not saying that the FL didn't try to push back but it is as if the Show is determined to beat her down with every cliche gender stereotype and societal/familial coercion. This is not helped by the tyrannical behaviour of her husband.

While Korean audiences might tsk-tsk at the horrid husband, they are more likely to accept it as typical patriarchal behaviour. Essentially, this show is a graveyard where all the makjang tropes come to die. Caveat emptor if you stumbled across it on Netflix and thought that it is a heartfelt romance.

The fact that the bulk of the show's pacing and flow are dictated by the antagonists made it hard to watch for me. The FL's growth is stymied by one person's illogical behaviours and interference. She is trapped in a no-win situation with the weight of the world on her shoulders. It is draining and unrewarding to watch. There is no hope, just despair.

Even with all the trials and tribulations, we still get a HEA ending. The last episode is total fan service, on steroids. Everyone gets redemption. There must be a 2 for 1 offer at the wholesaler. Honestly, if you jumped in at this point, you'd never guess what happened in the first 15 episodes. Even the herd of unicorns are falling over from sugar over dose. The sentiments are rooted in traditional values, quite inoffensive and banal. The reason why Dr Cha rejected her suitor is so old fashioned that it should be delivered in a calligraphy scroll.

Having said all that, the acting of the various leads is very good. Especially Dr Seo. You end up with a love-hate relationship with his character. He steals most scenes but at the same time, his character is so unlikeable that you just want him to go away. Well done, sir! The FL is good, but she only has moments of highlight rather than a dominating presence. Sadly, Dr Roy is relegated to cameos most of the time. He should be given more screen time. What a waste.

In the end, Dr Cha is a show that will resonate strongly with some but polarising for others. It is not bad, per se. Acting and production is up there but it doesn’t work for me because I'm not the target audience and I don't agree with their world view.

This brings us to a growing concern of mine. While the Hallyu wave have netted us some amazing dramas, the pressure on the various streaming platforms to find more k-dramas is ever growing. This in turn creates a buy-first-ask-later mentality. We might end up with a constant stream of patchy but hyped dramas with little quality control. Peace out.

Kdrama turned soap

Food ananlogy: delicious soup turned cold in the middle of the meal.

Like literally, what happened to the script around episode 10 is beyond me. We were having so much fun, rolling out in laughter, pulling our hair out in frustration, then it stopped and we started watching for the sake of watching.

Even the amazing performances of the actors couldn't rudder the sinking ship towards some form of excitement.

It would probably a great watch to daily soap lovers because it drags on in the same topic for a long time, maybe the goal was to give us a non-rushed ending, but they managed a bland one.
Since, this has turned into a rant, i would rant some more and say that, i don't get potrayal culture of being "happy alone" because i have been "tied down" for too long, and not trying to find another company or intimacy with anyone. I get that, there is the freedom of choice in this matter but it kind of feels forced by societal pressure or should i say, since we grew up seeing others accepting this, it just feels natural.

Idk much about rewatch value because i generally don't rewatch.

Give it a go. If you have time and want something to watch while you eat.
#Netflixandsnacks. Lol.

Doctor Cha; How to Ruin A Good Show...

Watching Doctor Cha was similar to Marmite; people either loved or hated the drama's ending, and there was not much in between. However, looking at the series throughout, it was hard not to notice some of the drama's more apparent flaws.

Jung Yeo Rang wrote the series, while Kim Dae Jin and Kim Jung Wook directed it. The plot focuses on Cha Jung Sook (Uhm Jung Hwa), a housewife for more than two decades and the wife of surgeon Seo In Ho (Kim Byung Chul). After a health shock, Jung Sook questions whether she wants to complete her residency as a doctor. Jung Sook can fulfil her dream with the help of the kind-hearted surgeon Roy Kim (Min Woo Hyuk). However, as melodrama brewing elsewhere, Seo In Ho's involvement with an old flame from the past and work colleague Choi Sung Hee ( Myung Se Bin) threatens to create other melodrama.

The series was a mixture of genres. It leaned into medical, romance and melodrama for the most part. The balance between these three genres could sometimes be difficult to mediate, significantly as the series progressed. This often made the show feel like a different watching experience in these various genre shifts, mainly when early profound topics and themes addressed ( such as murder, medical malpractice and treating criminals) were rarely tackled in later episodes.

The drama's acting is admittedly very mixed. Uhm Jung Hwa starred as the main female lead, Cha Jung Sook. Jung Hwa will likely be unfamiliar to newer drama fans, though some drama watchers may recognise her from the movie Dancing Queen and the show Get Karl! Oh, Soo Jung, Witch's Romance and Our Blues. Jung Hwa arguably offers one of the best performances in the series as the main female lead.

As a character, Cha Jung Sook is undoubtedly a mixed bag. She is kind-hearted and sincerely desires to care for patients and those close to her. Nevertheless, Jung Sook's character arc, particularly her relationship with Seo In Ho, remained one of the most problematic areas of the show. The series attempted to delve further into this relationship's complications and difficulties. Still, for the most part, it was an incredibly controlling relationship With In- Ho. Rather than delving into these complications further and allowing Jung Sook an opportunity to get away from him early on in the series, the narrative dragged out this arc beyond its limit, particularly for comical relief and further dramatic tension. Jung Sook's potential relationship with Roy Kim remained one of the most grating elements of the series. The conclusion to this relationship remained a subject of significant criticism by watchers and fans alike, mainly due to Jung Sook's character arc on this front feeling rushed. One of the few strengths of Jung Sook's character development came from her concluding circumstance. Although anti-climactic, it was reasonably befitting for her as a character to follow that particular path.

The series attempted to make In-Ho’s character more ‘’empathic’’ in parts of the drama. This would have been an understandable move if it was not more to do with the fact that In-Ho had little guilt or redemption throughout the series. Even if it had been a case of In-Ho coming to acknowledge or reason with his actions, this would have allowed him to grow as a character. Instead, In-Ho spends most of his time whining about Jung Sook, unable to make his mind over her and Choi Sung Hee, sidling up to his mother, Kwak Ae-sim (Park Joon-geum ) and then letting his anger out by attempting to destroy his daughter's dreams (Lee Seo-yeon). There are a few moments where we see a softer side to In Ho, but considering his attitude throughout the drama, these moments lack impact when faced with his treatment of others.

Roy Kim is another central character in the series. His character's personality acts as a perfect foil to In-Ho. While In-Ho is arrogant, jealous and egocentric, Roy Kim is sincere, kindhearted and cares deeply for his patients. His relationship with Jung Sook, from patient to crush, remains one of the major driving forces of the series. Sadly, Roy's character arc was not given a lot of justice, with a rushed storyline and a potentially intriguing backstory wasted.

Choi Sung Hee enacts as an antagonistic force in the series but is arguably one of the most morally ambiguous. Myung Se Bin offered a surprisingly bittersweet performance as the second female lead. Sung Hee and In Ho's relationship, alongside her rivalry with Jung Sook, remained one of the major driving points of the series. It was surprisingly refreshing to see the connection between Sung Hee and her daughter Choi Eun-seo (So A-rin ) progressing in parts of the series and the unforeseen bond between Sung Hee and Jung Sook's mother, Oh Deok-rye ( Kim Mi-Kyung ). Nevertheless, Sung Hee and Jung Sook's rivalry seemed oddly contrived. It is not out of the question both women would be at odds, but Sung Hee's odd attraction to In Ho, despite throwing her under the bus and her odd resolution with Jung Sook, did not seem to justify her character arc truly.

Seo Jung-min (Song Ji-ho), In-Ho and Jung Sook's eldest child and a first-year medical student, had a minor role in the storyline with his relationship with Jeon So-ra. So-ra and Jung-Min were among the few couples in the series who were worth watching. However, melodrama and limited screentime offscreen time interactions are less significant in later episodes. Later in the series, Jung Min attempts to be given a more complex character arc through a particular circumstance, but a rushed conclusion rarely makes this feel well-developed. To make matters worse, viewers learn from Seo Yi-Rang that Jung-Min did not want to become a medical student and only did so to keep his father happy. This could have been a perfect ground for exploring Jung-min's character and relationship with his parents ( particularly his father) more, though sadly, the series did not take full advantage of this.

Seo Yi-rang had her character arc too. Many more events were shaping Seo Yi-Rang's initial development than some notable characters in the series. Her relationship with her mother had some reconciliation. Still, the series rarely builds on this parallelism between mother and daughter trying to chase their dreams, often leading their interactions to fall somewhat flat. ( Especially as Yi-Rang wants to break the family tradition of attending medical school by becoming an artist.) Another major arc revolves around Yi-Rang and her friendship turned rivalry with Sung Hee's daughter, Choi Eun-Seo. Without major spoilers, it is fair to say a significant revelation divides the characters. Each character acts out independently, but considering how Yi-Rang learns more about her father, it seemed odd that the show did not try to resolve this conflict earlier rather than simply trying to drag it out for filler time until the ending.

Oh, Deok-rye has a minor role in the series alongside Kwak Ae-sim. Both characters have surprisingly sweet moments and squabbles. Another surprising performance was by Jo Ah-ram as Jeon So-ra, Jung-Min's girlfriend and Jung Sook's superior. It could have been easy for the drama to have dragged out the tension between Jung Sook and So-ra, but their bond in later parts of the theatre was oddly sweet. Her performance was remarkably likeable, adding to her onscreen persona's charm. Baek Mi-hee (Baek Joo-hee ) was another minor character as Jung Sook's best friend, though aside from trying to play a matchmaker and listen to some advice, she did not play a significant role as she should have done so.

The execution of the series was mixed. The first half was a little slow to get off the ground, but the narrative could progress further after a few episodes. However, significant proportions of the series relied heavily on dragging out conflict and melodrama rather than exploring or resolving previous character arcs or plots. This was a shame because the series had much time to cover these elements.

The cinematography was decent enough. There was nothing particularly striking, though the scene with Jung Sook joining Roy Kim to go running remains pretty sleek. The OST was okay, with a few decent tracks such as "Shine Like a Star" by Sondia and "A Day For Me" (나를 위한 하루) by Shinae An remaining particularly memorable.

Overall, Doctor Cha was a drama with much potential to be lighthearted and well-developed, but it lacked the correct execution and development. Poor character arcs rushed plot events, and an anti-climatic ending made the drama feel pieced together than a concise watch and an engaging experience. The series certainly had its sweeter moments, though sadly, this was often ignored due to these issues. Overall, a disappointing watch.

Realistic show, throw away your kdrama expectations

Dr. Cha" on Netflix is an engaging and thought-provoking series that kept me hooked from start to finish. The show beautifully portrays the journey of the main character, highlighting her resilience and strength amidst challenging circumstances. The storytelling is compelling, and the character development is impressive, allowing us to deeply connect with the struggles and triumphs of the protagonist.

-ABOUT THE ENDING-

I was ecstatic about the ending of "Dr. Cha," and I couldn't wait to read comments about it. However, I was disheartened to come across people calling the main character "disgusting" and claiming it was insulting to women. Seriously, what more did they want her to do? Seek revenge and hurt her own family? She's a mother with kids to consider!

And let's talk about the criticism of her not ending up with Dr. Roy. Come on, let's be realistic here. He's so much younger and has his whole life ahead of him. It would only complicate things if she left her family for him. Think about the kids and the future problems that would arise between them. I prefer it this way, where the female lead doesn't need anyone else to be happy. Her self-dependence is truly admirable, considering all that she's been through.

In summary, I was genuinely content with the ending and the choices made by the main character. It's frustrating to see such negative reactions when she showed strength and resilience, proving that she can find happiness on her own terms.
The realistic portrayal of family dynamics and the choices she faces adds depth to the narrative. The performances are stellar, bringing the characters to life with conviction. Overall, "Dr. Cha" is a must-watch series that will leave you inspired and captivated until the very end

Not as bad as you might think

I wasn't going to write a review but with all the bad reviews I've been reading, I decided to write one instead. First of all, I think being a parent changes a person's perspective in life. The decisions that FL made may make most women hate her, feel that she's dumb and such. But if you're a mom, or taking her POV as a mother, then you'll understand that no matter what, you want to give the best to your children. Their future, their stability, a complete family. As a parent, you're willing to sacrifice your own happiness if you think it will make your children happy.

The mistress was blinded by love, and clung to her childhood sweetheart even if it hurts her or if it caused her to hurt another person or family. Part of her hid in the thought that it's what her daughter wants. And part of it is because she wants to give her daughter a complete family. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending her. I just understand what triggered her to do the things she did.

The ML was a mama's boy who can't decide from himself. Having a mistress that his mother didn't know made him feel that he's deciding something for himself. Plus the fact that he never thought his wife will have the courage to leave him no matter what happens. Again, I'm not defending the ML,

Understanding and agreeing are two separate things.

I like that they had put comedy into this show, or I won't be watching this, as I really don't watch shows about mistresses. Though at times, the comedy is not really funny. I liked that they show how FL stand up for herself amidst the challenges that she faced. I also liked that they gave the FL a peaceful and successful ending, and that everyone is happy and at peace. Though that seldom happens in real life, but hey, this is fiction :)

Don't be deceived by this high rating which is no longer one just from THE PAST!!!

this drama is GOOD FOR NOTHING, it was the great and good one in the first half when they give her a second chance to reenter the life of a resident, maybe if they had focused on her diaries in the hospital how she did progress day after other in her medical field and how she updates herself to be fully proficient doctor though all the mistakes as beginner she did and difficult path she was going through would have been billion times much better than this pathetic and ludicrous story of trashy cheating husband who is the one I want to kill right now!!!!

this is not the funny and comedic story who anynody should laugh, there was few moments making in ho the clown here, but being mean and cheating failed making him the one here!!!! and the romance is abscent totally it should have been right if there was some romance made for jung suk and roy, but neither of comedy and romance I felt in this disappointing script!!!

to add the matter of liver donation which one should she choose between roy and the trashy in ho!!! for goodness sake what the great plot they add to this boring story, as I am choosing what the great quality of product I am buying?!?!

is that a some common sense to have in this rubbish head of writers to make the female lead SO HAPPY just getting divorce and being alone and let this scoundrel and beast man in ho go freely whith this damn love for this witch sung hee like this and he done his last favour for her to donate his liver, is that called a GREAT END? what the crazy and insane story I did ever heard of it, all if this mess happened and the rating is still 8.5!!!!

though a lot of people had surely dropped or lowering the rating for a logical reasons: she is the one belittled and humiliated by her in laws/childs and awful husband, everyone is stopping as obstacles in front of her to continue her career as doctor as they consider her worthless housewife and the marriage of convenience based just for assets!!!

no body had treated jung suk fairly even her own mother who asked her to forgive this trashy husband of her though he is having an illegitimate child, as he is a diamond husband she should stay his slave forever and staying bewatching this awful affair of this nasty couple of scoundrel in ho and witch sung hee!!!!

on the top of that what should be her problem if she had ended with roy? is being alone a great prize for herself after the divorce, she is free and not a flaw to begin anew in her life...

when roy confessed too late and she answered "she is tiring of loving someone" what the jock!!! are you serious mr screenwriter??? at least she should respond him "give me sometime to think" instead of this bullshit!!! he was the one supportive and encouraging her in all her path in her medical domain and she is considered him barely being a friend and her surgeon nothing more!!! she consider herself an "old fashion woman" and older for him to be a couple, is this the importance here after this honest confession?!

it was really a WASTING OF TIME!!! I will advise anybody who didn't give a try for this show till now, to just watch the few first episodes or don't watch it AT ALL, go for other dramas of uhm jung hwa, it would be better than to choose this "miserable life of dr cha" what it should have been titled instead of this one here!!!

I am fed up for this silly and bad show, I was so mindless and delusional waiting for an end to be satisfying despite all the disappointments and frustrating moments I lived watching this mess of dr cha's life?!

SHAMELESS WRITERS giving the victory for this wicked couple and make this poor woman jung sook alone like a whithered flower, because she deserves too to meet the one who deserves her!!!!

This Show Didn’t Give What Needed To Be Gave

Overall, I would say that is show was meh. Sometimes the worst a show can be is meh because you can see the potential that the show had to be better.

When I first read the sypnosis, I thought that the show would focus more on the liberation of the main character but instead the show dragged out the divorce and drama throughout the entire series and it kept running in circles over and over again. The show I feel was a little too surface level to me. I feel like they could have gone more in depth when it came to certain storylines. After awhile, it felt like they really didn’t know where to take the show.

None of the characters really resonated with me either. These are not characters that will stick with me or frankly that I will remember because the material given to them just didn’t call for it.

The standout performances for me were the main character, Cha Jung Sook played by Uhm Jung Hwa and her mother, Oh Deok Rye played by Kim Mi Kyung.

The characters of the husband, his mistress, and the mother in law were all horrid people to me and my feelings didn’t change by the end of the show either. In reality, I think my feelings of dislike got even worse to be honest. I guess you could say that since they made me dislike their characters so much that they were doing their jobs well though lol

I felt bad for Dr. Roy because he seemed like a great man for Dr. Jung Sook. He was a good foil to her horrible husband. But, besides his adoption backstory, I feel like they still could have done more with his character.

By the time I got to the last two episodes, I was over it. This show didn’t have enough “meat on the bones” if that makes sense and as a viewer it makes me sad to see.
