True Love Amidst Societal Pressure
I saw this one in the span of two days. It is bingable and only has 10 episodes. In this BL, Ji Hyeon and Jae Won fall in love at different stages and ages at college. Ji Hyeon is a country-bumpkin freshman, and Jae Won is a senior who has finished military service. Despite societal expectation and pressures, and Jae Won's past trauma, they become each other's true love. The name of the show is relevant to the story in that there is this sense that goes beyond the 5 senses that tells us who and what to choose in life. This sense is instinctual. Here's a breakdown of the pros and cons!Pros:
-The pacing and unconventional way they framed certain scenes shows regard for the production, it wasn’t haphazard
-The acting was stellar, by everyone, including the side characters.
-The intimacy scenes were well-done. They looked like they were actually falling in love and kissing.
-The lighting felt romantic at times and the tone of the drama is sentimental, which I liked.
-The music matched the scenes and I really liked when they used the Conan Gray song.
Cons:
-In the 2nd half Jae Won still felt like he hadn't found his peace. Adding more scenes could have helped with this. Or him being honest with his therapist could have also helped.
-While I love angst the tone could feel depressing after a while. Again, more scenes with a tonal shift could have helped with this.
-They redeemed two antagonists that I did not feel deserved redemption, after the gravity of what they did.
Overall, I loved the show and wish there were a 2nd season so that Ji Hyeon and Jae Won's relationship could be delved into deeper.

This is a literal piece of art
I don't even know how to start.Everything about this BL is beautiful. The story is so well written, the acting is top tier and the cinematography is just perfect. The lightning and the play with the colorization as the episodes go on, and the characters feel more bad and depressed..it's just perfect and so beautiful.
They portrayed this so well.
My personal favorite is "Jaewon", this character is just so complex and portrays real depression so well. The therapy sessions hit me like a bus. As someone who struggles with depression, this felt so real, as if this isn't a show but really just a depressed person I'm watching.
Also, just the tension between the two male leads drove me crazy. The feelings between them, and just everything about them, made me want to scream.
Personally, this IS and probably will be my favorite BL for a very long time. I rewatch it so often, and with every rewatch I just love it more to be honest.
I waited every week for a new episode and the waiting made me go crazy to be honest, lol. Was my favorite in 2023 and is still my favorite in 2024.

The best K-BL I've seen!
Ugh! I loved this so freaking much!!!!This show had so much depth, I was hooked from start to finish. The Eighth Sense was just so beautiful and well done. I felt every emotion possible and melted into a puddle of feelings.
Normally I am petty until I die, but it was so sweet to see everyone make amends in the last episode. Truthfully some didn't deserve redemption, but our MCs have such kind souls.
I highly recommend this series. It takes you many places and explores so much more than I expected. The actors were amazing, their chemistry was palpable and they didn't give us dead fish kisses! They gave us heat! I do wish we got to see more healing, but I loved it so much as it is.

Instant angsty classic for BL dramas
This story doesn't focus solely on the romance of two attractive men, which I have no problem eating up the kind of shows that do that, HOWEVER. When shows like The Eighth sense come into the genre, it easily places itself into A+ if not S tier for me. That's thanks to the story and character depth creating a sense of reality. The writing isn't the only thing this show offers however. The cinematography, soundtrack, and acting are all phenomenal here, which is also why I find myself rating this show so highly. Falling in love is a hard thing to capture in a drama but throw in some angst and or trauma and it's like tasting food with seasoning after not experiencing that much flavor in a while... Anyhow, The Eighth Sense is a MUST WATCH for BL enjoyersWas this review helpful to you?
There will never be a another k Bl like this ever
I can’t believe I was able to watch this In my lifetime 10/10 experience that blends emotional depth, stunning visuals, and raw storytelling. The chemistry between the leads is magnetic, portraying love, trauma, and healing with breathtaking sincerity. Every scene feels intentional, with quiet moments carrying just as much weight as the dramatic ones. The cinematography is artful, creating a moody, intimate atmosphere that pulls you in completely. What truly sets this drama apart is its honest exploration of mental health and identity. It’s not just a love story — it’s a beautifully told journey of self-discovery. Absolutely unforgettable. Was this review helpful to you?

character growth? communication? representation of mental health?
this series really shined. i have a lot of good things to say about it, but i'm going to get into my not-so-favorite thing about it first:the music was really terrible. and i'm sorry to be a hater to this level but genuinely, the only song i found decent was the conan gray song. all the others were either cringy, or confusing. for the song choice to stand out that much to me, it had to have been pretty bad, as i usually don't even think about the music.
REGARDLESS! the rest of this series was pure art. the acting was phenomenal. we had extremely well-done and well-deserved character growth from JiHyun, we had JaeWon working though his problems with his therapist, and even EunJi had her moment of redemption.
after episode 9, i didn't figure we needed much else out of the series, so i was a little hesitant to finish out the 10th episode, but it really amazed me. we saw our main characters happy, being direct, communicating, and we also got closure from the rest of the cast.
this series was fantastic, and though it did drag a little in the beginning, it was definitely worth it to stick through it.

Realistic with depth
Jihyeon moves from a small village to Seoul to do his studies. He meets Jaewon, an older university student, and joins the surfing team to be closer to him.Does it have a crazy interesting premise? No which I absolutely love it. It feels more realistic than the shows that have crazy premises. It also has tragic backstories that give depth to these characters. I like the portrayal of mental health which seems to be forgotten in most shows. The music and the cinematography is also really good like I was stunned at some points. Their chemistry is so good I felt it from the second they saw each other, the slight awkwardness makes it so real.
The show is never boring and yhe acting is incredible. Eunji and Taehyeong are DEMONS, not even villains that you can like you’ll hate them. I love Aeri, Yoonwon and the restaurant owner a lot and you’ll love them too. The other supporting characters are also pretty good and not just one dimensional characters.

A simple catch
I would like to start with the right words, but my eighth sense is not well developed. This series managed to give me a new perspective on bls. A true watershed moment, there are already some Korean bls that stood out for their originality, but the eight sense creates an atmosphere that differentiates it even from a possible reboot. The work of the main actors conveyed all the good points of a well-crafted and very humble directed script. The secondary actors helped create a space for the main couple to demonstrate with all their strength the great chemistry they two have. Jae and Jihyun's story was marked by great originality and a romance that captivates the viewer from beginning to end, the soundtrack is wonderful and fits with all the scenes. The comic reliefs all came together well and amused us a lot. the production is good. The rewatch value is very high as it is worth diving into this experience. I'm really happy to watch it and I hope to see a lot more of them. Was this review helpful to you?

A BL DRAMA LIKE NO OTHER!!
I normally wouldn't use the word "Masterpiece" in a review, but there's no other word that describes this drama. From the start of the first episode through the very end of episode 10, every single minute is perfect in every way. The acting, writing & directing is flawless. You can't even fast forward through the end credits, because the music used to close each episode is truly fantastic.
Ji Sub & Jun Taek have such a great chemistry together. It's definitely Ji Sub's best work so far, and I look forward to future projects with Jun Taek, because he was wonderful. There were certain scenes that gave you chills as you watched them unfold. The last five minutes of episode 9, with "The Story" playing in the background, you felt as though you're walking along side of Jae Won as he goes to find Ji Hyun. Just amazing.
I wish there was a score higher than 10 to give, because it's needed here!
The only bad thing is, The Eighth Sense has raised the bar so high, it's going to be difficult to watch another BL drama without feeling disappointment.
I think everyone should really come away from this series feeling great about life.

The Eighth Sense: A Raw and Powerful Exploration of Mental Health
The Eighth Sense is a refreshing departure from the typical South Korean BL drama. Instead of relying on sugary sweetness, it delves deep into the complexities of human emotion and relationships. This series stars Lim Ji Sub as Seo Jae Won and Oh Jun Taek as Kim Ji Hyun, delivering performances that are both raw and captivating. The story unfolds slowly, painting a portrait of two young men grappling with their own personal struggles. Ji Hyun, a newcomer to the bustling city, is trying to find his place, while Jae Won, a seemingly carefree ex-military man, hides a deep-seated battle with mental health. Their paths intertwine, and a tender romance begins to blossom, but it's the characters' individual journeys that truly shine.
One of the series' greatest strengths is its honest portrayal of mental health. Jae Won's struggles with depression and suicidal thoughts are handled with sensitivity and care, offering a glimpse into the darkness that can consume someone from within. The show doesn't shy away from difficult topics, and it's this unflinching approach that makes it so impactful.
The acting is superb. Both Lim Ji Sub and Oh Jun Taek deliver performances that are both nuanced and emotionally charged. Their chemistry is palpable, but it's their individual portrayals of complex characters that truly stand out. The supporting cast is also excellent, providing depth and dimension to the story.
While The Eighth Sense is a powerful and thought-provoking drama, it's important to note that it's not for everyone. The subject matter is heavy, and the pacing is slow. However, for those willing to invest the time, it's a truly rewarding experience.
Ultimately, The Eighth Sense is a testament to the power of storytelling. It's a drama that lingers in your mind long after the credits roll.
