A good version of W

There are currently 2 reviews, mine will make a third. You had one person that loved it and one that hated it. I will say that I did like the series. I think that it was well done although there was some things that I would have liked changed.
Things that could have been better
-I did not like the ending. I won't spoil the ending but I like a romantic ending and this was not it.
-Some of the editing could have been better to make the story more cohesive,

I think they did a pretty good job overall and it definitely worth watching.

Was a good short version but…

If you see my review on the original W it has 10/10. Nothing can EVER beat the original! But this was a good try for a mini drama. However… the ending lacked compared to the original. Give. Me. More. Ending!!!! Grrr. So frustrating! It left me wanting more of them!

Storyline - it covered some of the most important parts. It was not bad overall. It ran pretty close to the original. I felt it also ran smooth and not choppy like some mini dramas get. Sorry I am going to end up comparing them because this drama is based off the original but this is a “Chinese” version. It is not bad but I am not happy with the ending. As I stated above. So I knocked the storyline down to 7/10.

Acting/Cast - I felt they did a spot on job. Was not bad at all. They did great.

Rewatch - yes. The Korean version is long, BUT really, really good. But sometimes it is nice to watch a mini drama that does not take to long. This one was not too bad. But that dang ending…

Just don’t watch it, it’s not worth it

I’ll be honest, I started watching this show to “hate watch” it, but a part of me hoped it might surprise me.
It only surprised me by being worse than I had expected and my expectations were already low from the get-go based on the run-time for the episodes and the length of time that they spent filming.

The only “enjoyment” that I really derived came from laughing at the moments which were poorly acted, the bad special effects, the odd plot change decisions, etc.

I originally dropped the show after seeing the first 2-3 episodes, but picked it back up again because of a strange rumor that it’s told from Jiang Zhe’s (Kang Chul’s) perspective which made me want to find out if that happens. This is NOT true, do not let this rumor sucker you into watching this show. Even if the rumor was true, it still isn’t worth it.

The chemistry between the actors borders on non-existent. There were infinitesimally small moments where I was like: “Oh my gosh! Finally, a cute moment where they seem to be forming some semblance of chemistry!”
And then they kiss and it’s like: “Nope, they’ve got nothing.”

Even their versions of the biggest swoon-worthy scenes from the original fall utterly flat and feel butchered. It’s really telling about the lack of chemistry when they chose to fade to black during the jailhouse kiss.
The cute cuddling while reading together on the bed scene? Felt more like two friends at a sleepover laying side-by-side as they read a book together and not like two people who just got married and are in love or falling in love with each other.

The special effects aren’t the worst I’ve ever seen, but still pretty bad, especially when it came to covering up the female lead’s dad’s face when he’s supposed to be faceless.

The OST is… okay. The main title is the only one that’s kind of a bop, I swear one of the songs was a cover of one of the actual original W OST songs.

Save yourself, save your sanity, watch the original W: Two Worlds, don’t watch this.

Could have been better

I have seen the original Korean Drama W (2016) and its natural to make comparisons. The chemistry between the two leads in W (2016) is undeniable.

I was glad to come across The Next Stop W (2023) but its not very well-written or executed. Everything is a miss.
The lead actors didn't have much of a chemistry.
While the ML is attractive, he lacks the charm that Lee Jong Suk brings to the table.
The FL was fine, the script poorly written, trying to smash everything together, just rushing to the ending.

I believe this could have turned out better if the durations of the episodes were longer, and the script better written.

If you have not seen the original W: Two Worlds and are thinking about watching this then I would highly recommend you don't. While this drama is a mini series and will only take a little under 4 hours to complete it also a very watered down version that follows the exact same story (minus the ending). In order to conform to the short nature of a mini drama there is a lot of information cut out in this that would actually make it pretty confusing if you aren't already familiar with the story. But most importantly is that what the original version of this show is best at is suspense and keeping you on the edge of your seat. Since this follows the same story line then it goes through the same events but in a fast forward kind of way with no real context or build up which won't leave you feeling anything and will ruin the effect of watching the original for the first time.

As for the production of this series it was really mediocre. The performances felt wooden from the cast, there were some scenes that were so bright it was hard to watch, the sound effects and music weren't incorporated well or were too sparse, and the wardrobe choices felt weird at times. I believe this show was created more for fans of W to reminisce but it just falls very flat.

THIS WILL ALWAYS BE THE ORIGINAL W VERSION, CHINESE ONE

THE BEST ADAPTATION FAR SUPERIOR THAN THE ORIGINAL ONE.
I really like this drama. Chemistry is on fire, very talented and handsome actor, no american cheap elements like car crashing, less thriler ( not needed). And the way he looks at her... for more romance. It's a romance thriller made with gold and diamonds, I'm really loving it. Perfect OSTs too.
I really suggest this one more than the k- bland version with too much american influence.
Whoever suggest the foolish k-one with non-talented actors, con't even compare.
Save yourself and your own sanity from kdramas. Watch this cdrama that is the original and best version. You won't be disappointed.

Not a bad short version Romance & Thriller drama to kill time while waiting for good drama to air

The Next Stop @ is a short 11 minutes 24 episodes mystery love drama about Wu Yan Zhu, a trainee doctor in the real world, who accidentally broke into the world of the comic "W," drawn by her father Wu Cheng Wu, met the comic actor Jiang Zhe, and a series of thrilling events and a sweet love story begins.

It was an interesting concept, and because it was short, I am enjoying it. It had romance and mystery as two worlds collide with each other. I was not too fond of the ending, but as expected.

The lead CP did a decent job, giving it a 6.0 rating.
